Sawako “Sadako” Kuronuma is the perfect heroine…for a horror movie.
With her jet-black hair, sinister smile and silent demeanor, Sawako “Sadako” Kuronuma always had trouble fitting in. But her whole life changes when she befriends the most popular boy in class, Shota Kazehaya. Can love trump her cursed life?
Kazehaya and Sawako have finally graduated from high school. When Sawako goes away to university, will their relationship withstand the distance? And what will become of their close group of high school friends? Kazehaya and Sawako’s quirky story about love and life concludes in the exciting final volume of Kimi ni Todoke!

A fairly standard ending for a high school romance manga as all the characters head off for college, giving everyone a chance for a big good-bye scene. It's nice, but frankly this series has been treading water for quite a while after an amazing first dozen or so volumes. The primary couple reached a plateau, and the relationships of the secondary characters just didn't do much for me.
I still recommend the series, but sticking it out to the end is not a necessity. Once you feel it start to coast, skip ahead to this final volume and call it a day.
Volume Review: 4/5 Me reading this manga because of all the goodbyes:
The part where Ayane parts with Chiyo and Sawako made me cry the most.
But Kazehaya is also so cute.
Overall, even those it's 30 volumes, I wasn't quite ready to see the end of this series. It was a good time to end, with graduation. But I've come to think of these kids as real and wandering around Japan right now at this moment. Yes, I'm a bit crazy. I've just gotten so "close" to them.
Also, there is the long-awaited (not in my case) scene with Kazehaya and Sawako. I don't know why every manga author feels the need to do this in the last volume of every series. But whatever, at least it was done tastefully and as usual, she shows a lot of the emotions and inside thinking that goes along with this.

Overall, I give this series 5/5. Would love to see more, though.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
I teared up and got extremely emotionally with these later volumes, but I held it in (for the most part).
But with this one…
I sobbed.
I'm in shock it's over. This was such a beautiful and heartfelt ending. I can't help but smile and dry my eyes because of this adventure I went on. Tomorrow will go on, but this was an unforgettable adventure that I am so thankful to have been/go on.
Thank you Karuho Shiina. Thank you for blessing us with such an impactful coming of age series.
THEY INVENTED LOVE & FRIENDSHIP AND EVERYTHING SWEET 😭 !!! actually gutted me bc what am i supposed to do now that it’s over 😭😭 it’s actually criminal that we didn’t get a kazesawa wedding chapter (they r so cute in this cover 💞💞)
What is there to say... I love Kimi ni Todoke so much, and, sadly, I have to say goodbye now.
I avoided finishing this manga because I loved it deeply and wasn't ready to let it go. But I am so glad I did now. What a beautiful end to this touching story. That final letter really was the cherry on top.
Sawako is one wonderful female lead character, and Kazehaya is an outstanding male love interest. All supporting characters and their stories were done justice just as much as theirs'. It is refreshing to see all characters be fleshed out and have compelling stories. This manga has great pacing, didn't rush into anything, and developed everything in its due time.
Loved seeing them mature and grow up through their three years in high school. It's always sad to say goodbye to the ones you spent so much time with.
I just want to finish this review with the last lines from the letter, as it spoke to me and wrapped it all up perfectly (please read with caution, as it can be considered a spoiler):
"Wherever you are, whatever you do... even if it's not related to me, if you're living your life and are doing your best, I'll be fine with that. I know you'll smile at me the next time we meet, right? With that smile I know so well, you'll ease my heart effortlessly, won't you? I want to be able to reach you. Always, and forever. From me to you."
i can't believe it's over :') this is one of those series that will forever feel nostalgic to me, even though it was my first time reading it. i truly enjoyed every single volume. i held off on reading it for years because i was scared to be disappointed but i understand now why this is considered a shoujo classic. it's definitely made its way into my top shoujo romances of all time. i'm so glad i read this manga <3
Well this series was just an absolute delight to read! I loved Sawako, Kazehaya, and all of their friends so, so much! I’m sad to say goodbye to them, but it was truly such a sweet, feel-good series and it made my heart so full and happy. 🥰💖
i’m not crying you are 🤧🤧 can’t believe my favourite shojo manga is OVER. it was wrapped up so beautifully and i can go to sleep tonight knowing everyone is happy and doing what they want. but at the same time i want more 😭 amazing incredible yep yep yep
4/5 Well I've finished the series. All and all I enjoyed it. It's the longest Shoujo series that I have read to date. I really enjoyed the anime when it was released and it was nice to get back into it and finish the story.
The series as a whole was good but I really do feel like the whole thing could have been done in 20 volumes instead of 30. Not that I regret reading it all. There was some definite great chapters though sparse through out the final 10 volumes. It just seamed like the story spent more time winding down then it did building up. After Sawako and Shota originally started dating and things were settled with Chizuru and Ayane the rest just didn't live up to those moments, understandably so. After completing it though I'm glad I did. There were some good feels through out and I really enjoyed the cast and the time I spent reading about them.
The final volume is probably a bit cliché but I am satisfied with how it ended. It is nice to see that the main characters don't just share a final kiss and roll credits. It's implied that things moved forward and that at least made the characters feel a bit more real. I burned through the last 5 volumes today so this will likely all blur together in my remembering but all 5 of the final books just felt so short and I think going through all 5 only took just over a couple of hours so that's a little disappointing.
The final cover is Sawako and Shota. As it should be.
Giving this phenomenal manga a review in honor of season 3 of the anime airing 13 years after the original run! The Shoujo renaissance is here!
I grew up with Kimi ni Todoke. This is the first manga I truly fell in love with. A sweet, glacially paced, slice of life story about an awkward girl, whose looks and demeanor frighten most people…and the friends who love her anyway.
How I felt like Sawako, when I was young! So odd and misunderstood, and hindered by my tendency to overthink everything.
How I longed for a Kazehaya. He saw her when no one else did. And he helps others see her too. He doesn’t fall for her in spite of her weirdness, he falls for her because of it. The ultimate green flag, boy. My husbando before I had a husband, lol.
The thing that stuck with me though, when I read the fan translation of this last volume ages and ages ago, wasn’t just the culmination of the sweetest, most tender love story I have ever experienced. It was Kurumi thanking Kazehaya for bringing Sawako into her life. Sawako is a gift.
From her to them, from them to her. And all the way to us too 🥹
Finished this ridiculously long series. Overall, 3 stars. While I would’ve liked an epilogue to find out what happens to everyone, I like the fact she ended it the way she did. Everyone is continuing to live their lives, and there are so many ways their lives can go! I like the fact that Sawako finally made up her own mind to become a teacher and not go to college with Kazehaya.
I liked the supporting characters much more than the main characters though. I felt that Sawako was really interesting in the beginning, but I feel that the whole point of the creepy “Sadako” got lost, which made me kind of sad, because I liked that side of her a lot.
The final volume! I love this series and I really like the way it ended. I love how close Kurumi and Sawako have gotten, to the point where Kurumi tells Kazehaya "Sawako didn't take you from me, you gave me her." This series lasted forever and ending it with the end of high school was a good decision, but I wouldn't mind seeing some future stuff, say with Kurumi and Sawako at college together or Ayu and Pin once she's grown up.

it took me 2 months to actually start reading this the 30th [LAST] book of a series that i love so dearly.
and i think that my stressing and delaying was worth it!! i ended the series with the perfect atmosphere like the sun rose and my silent screams of joy amplified with the quiet of house.
the book itself was so comforting... if à toute à l'heure could feel like a book, this would be that book
overall, it did a phenomenal job of ending of the series in goodbye that seemed welcome. i will miss all the character and the attachments i grew <3
thank you so much to karuho shiina for this masterpiece!!
After dragging its feet for fifteen volumes, the series finally recovers in the last two. It's like Shiina finally remembered the point of the story was a misfit finding her place in the world, and not angsting about every little romantic development.
Though I must say, I'm a little concerned by the fact that the scene where Sawako and Kazehaya finally consummate their relationship ends with Sawako thinking there's not even a millimeter between them. Girl, if you aren't on birth control, you want a millimeter there.
