When a playboy falls for a nerd, chemistry results in an explosive reaction!

Playboy Maya catches studious Nemugasa cheating on a test, and to ensure his silence, Maya blackmails Nemugasa into doing whatever he wants! But is this merely just a ruse so Maya can spend more alone time with him?

After spending a blissful night wrapped in each other’s arms, Maya and Nemugasa get a rude awakening when Maya’s dad arrives unexpectedly, catching them in bed together! Unfazed by his father’s disapproval of their relationship, Maya moves out on his own, and even though he’s been cut off from his credit cards and his family’s financial support, Maya’s love for Nemugasa only grows. There’s just one tiny complication. With no place to stay, Maya is forced to crash with the last person he wants anywhere near his beloved Nemugasa—Shimakawa!

The dad is an idiot. Why do I feel like he’s a closeted gay guy that picks up guys on the weekend?

Really enjoyed this one, although ending on a Ruka scene adds some drama I'm not necessarily looking forward to. Not that I'm worried about Maya, but something's always been weird about the guy - and even with Nemugasa admiring him now, there's still that jealous tension. At least Maya didn't even consider living with Ruka once his dad kicked him out; he and Nemugasa are doing a good job of being on the same wavelength now.

Maya's dad is...well, the sections with him were really good but also pretty depressing. Handled thoughtfully and realistically, with Maya's relationship leading to the kinds of actual real life repercussions that I don't often see addressed in manga. But the scene with Akira was honestly the hardest - just that assumption that being gay is a phase from your youth that you'll get over when it's time to settle down and have a "real" family.

Again, I'm not particularly worried about Maya; he's hard-headed and stubborn about what he wants, and Nemugasa is strong-willed and loyal enough to stand by him (and up to Maya's father, which was another great scene). Akira, oddly, is the one I worry about. I like his relationship with Shimakawa more than I was expecting to, and I'm hoping to see more of their relationship developing - and hopefully Shimakawa convincing Akira that they can lead a long, happy life together. Like Maya, he's already planning his future around the love of his life, wanting a small medical practice so he can go home to Akira at night. It's sweet, and I want that future for them, too. It's just really, really sad that it's so difficult for any of them - or their loved ones - to believe that's possible.

Still curious what will happen with Nemugasa's family when they eventually find out, but at least it looks like Maya's dad isn't going to interfere for the time being. Maybe they won't be as awful about it? Unlikely, but we'll see.

Just a lot of really good, grownup conversations in this volume, which I appreciated.

Aufmachung

Fazit

Hui tough topic in here.

Maya has moved out of his family's home and has been cut off financially by his father. This includes tuition payments as well. This situation would be enough to cause anyone to panic, but not Maya. He manages to remain calm and finds a short term solution by moving in with Shimakawa, who actually isn't as bad as I thought.

In this volume we mostly follow him as he tries to navigate this new homeless situation. He takes on various jobs and has to deal with not being able to spend as much time with Nemugasa as he'd like. His father disapproves of his relationship with Nemugasa but decides to leave the situation alone because he believes that in the end they will realize that being together won't work out. He us so confident in this outcome that even Akira is shaken.

The volume didn't have a lot of drama and was therefore easy to read. It's very clear to me by this point that Maya is totally in love with Nemugasa, so, even though I can already tell that the next volume (and maybe even the one after that) is going to be a bit more angsty I know that Maya and Nemugasa's relationship will be okay.

Picking up from last volumes' cliff hanger, Nemugasa and Maya are discovered in bed (naked) by Maya's estranged father (name?). After giving every chance to deny they are in a relationship, Dad kicks Maya out and refuses to pay for school. This volume is all about found family and how the people we love and trust are not necessarily the ones that provided biological ingredients to our genetic makeup. Akira and Shimakawa play a larger part in this book as Maya moves in with Shimakawa, who is very much the older brother type. The familial scenes between them are rather quite sweet and far more normal than any sibling scenes between Akira and Jutta have ever been. Tons of smut to appease the beast in this book as well, even with Maya being homeless for awhile.

Maya gets kicked out of his childhood home because he isnt following his fathers orders on ending a homosexual relationship. Naoya san takes him in at Akiras plea, Akira gets told off by Mayas homophone father and it pushes him into the decision of making a promise to Naoya san if their feelings keep being mutual after they graduate he will move in with his boyfriend.
the volume closes with nemu and maya finally spending a night together and Rukas illness spiking and him calling Maya over.

4.5 Stars...

Volume 7 just as good and illustrated as the others. Very well told Maya's father was a whole mess who is gonna keep Maya and Nemu on their toes from here on out but in his trying to show tough love and change Maya's way of thinking he made Akira become closer to Malta which was a plus. On to Vol.8!

I am not crazy about having finished this because now I only have one more to go before I have to wait months and months for another volume!! :(

(Although I didn't read the Akira volume...or the one of short stories... so I guess I can go back to those!!)

Anyway, more of these dudes being cute and evolving as people! :)

Maya's father is truly awful - homophobic in a way that not only negates who his son is, but also that refuses to acknowledge that homosexuality is a legitimate orientation. I know this isn't an especially serious series, but I wish the author had done more to show how toxic his views are.

Hold on…. Why doesn’t that dad reach out to the son to make sure he’s okay after kicking him out and cutting him off? Also, what’s wrong with Ruka? I don’t like how Ruka makes glasses insecure, but I don’t want anything happening to him.

Ah... Maya and Nemugasa are so cute together! This volume had a date which was nice to see and then a bit of friction with an interloper! Gasp! I can't wait to see what happens in the next volume!

Oh this is the first volume in the series that truly earned the 4 stars with how good it was instead of based on how much I enjoy the mangaka's work and smutty scènes which skewes my rating to the positive.

One thing that did stand out was the translation. These are people going to university so they are 17/18? I know almost no teenager that would refer to themselves as such at that age. Especially when they are already living on their own. So Maya referring to himself that way feels very much as a poor translation choice. 'Young man' would've been better and would've fit the activity he was involved in at that moment much better. Now it feels a bit creepy.
