Shoyo Hinata is out to prove that in volleyball you don't need to be tall to fly!
Ever since he saw the legendary player known as “the Little Giant” compete at the national volleyball finals, Shoyo Hinata has been aiming to be the best volleyball player ever! Who says you need to be tall to play volleyball when you can jump higher than anyone else?
The game with Inarizaki heats up as Saeko Tanaka and her taiko drum crew arrive to cheer on Karasuno! The nation’s best setter, Atsumu Miya, has even Nishinoya wincing when he’s up to serve, and the Miya twins’ version of the Freak Quick puts Hinata and Kageyama’s to shame! Does Karasuno have any hope of beating this powerhouse and tournament favorite?!
*Reread 10/12/2020* Lmao I forgot what assholes the Miya twins are. Still love them tho.
So frustrating that Inarizaki finally got animated and it's not great. The animation (season 4 episode 15) is so awkward and half-assed and sometimes just straight up ugly? Like sometimes it looks so good and then other times it just looks so bad. Their expressions just aren't quite there. I think a huge part of haikyu is how expressive and well-rounded the characters are. Even the smallest of characters has a purpose. This new season feels so rushed. They cut out so much and it's not like these particular scenes are detrimental to the plot or anything, but just these small things add so much. I really hope they don't decide to completely cut out the scenes of the other teams watching from home, because those are some of my favorite scenes. This turned into more of a review of the anime, but as a manga reader I am upset :(
*Original Review 12/2/2019* My heart is pounding and I'm so proud of Hinata!! I don't care if they're flukes!! He's doing his best and I want to fight everyone who's mean to him >:(
Me every time I pick up a Haikyu volume after a few days: *happy sigh* It feels good to be back!
The ending of volume 28 was SOOOO intense!! Deeply thankful for Big Sis helping turn the tables a little bit and breaking the edge of that intensity with her AWESOME cheer section she is leading! Not sure how much more I could have handled, but this volume was no walk in the park!
Though interestingly enough, I was reminded how very human Hinata is. I absolutely love and admire him so much that I forget that he is a boy with real emotions who just doesn't express happiness. LOL! Sounds funny to say, but it was something else seeing him express anger on more than one occasion.
And sheesh, why Yams gotta call out Hinata like that?! ;P (And coach too! LOL!)
Some of my favorite parts included Tsukki making the comment about the freak quick, seeing coach fit so well as a coach (he always has, but hearing his friends comment on how well he was handling everything made me proud <3), Tsukki and Kageyama glaring after a "win," finding out the one-on-one block that Hinata hates the most, and the ending mini bonus "story"! (Side note: Tsukki has really rubbed off on me and really enjoy his character a lot more then I use too!) (Second side note: LOVED seeing Daichi get some spikes in!)
I don't know if it is because its been a while or what, but this was a pretty fun volume! Definitely more intense as it progresses though! And can't say I was happy with a certain thing the twins can do, but I laughed more then I expected. I also am cheering for Hinata even harder then I have in previous volumes!
That ending was a straight cliff hanger and I don't have volume 30 on hand at the moment to see what happens next! ;p
the match between karasuno and inarizaki is definitely one of the best in the series, if not the best tbh i feel like the only one i will like more is the eventual match between karasuno and nekoma
Wow, I'm a simp for the Atsumu twins. Hinata keeps surprising me and I need the anime NOW, NOT IN JULY DAMN IT.
Diving into the manga (started from chapter 248) after bingeing seasons 1 to 4 of the anime in 2-3 weeks. I don't usuallly binge stuff often and me being obsessed and in love with ALL the characters is saying something. Love love love the anime, can't recommend it enough.
*update 12 Aug 2020* The anime got postponed to Oct. Let me go into a hole and cry now...
It's just always such a treat to read another volume of this silly lil' volleyball manga. I love it every time! This volume was funny and intense at the same time, had to pick up the next one immediately.
I LOVE YUU - uh... I mean - YOU, DAISHOU! Lmao. Ever since watching the Tokyo no Jin stageplay, I've warmed up significantly to Nohebi. I think Mika-chan has something to do with it.
But this volume, YES!!! They're so good. And that "I hate that block the most" is on point.
Hooray for Tanaka's sister and her taiko group! Those drums look pretty cool. Inarizaki isn't annoying me quite as much as when I watched the anime, but I'm still not a fan of Miya twin #1. (Grr...) There's good stuff in this volume. I'm just getting impatient for the match to be over!
Favorite moments:
-Tsukki finally getting to block the "freak quick". -The creepy Shimada Mart bag saving the day. 🤣
