It was the opening of San Francisco's opera season, followed by a spectacular party. That was the night she met Wickerly Carver, a man bearing her dead father's name. He was a mystery writer who approached his craft and his women with equal intensity, and Nevada Carver accepted his invitation to join him in a desert mansion.
I gave this til 41% and was bored to tears. Falconlough was great, don't know what Monica Heath was thinking with this one. I expected a lot more suspense. It was all very boring. Maybe it gets better. Don't know. If any of you read it you can let me know. :)
The mystery part is decent enough. The characters, romance, and everything else are too shallowly developed, as is the setting (disappointingly). There are satisfactory answers to the story pertaining to the riddle of the main character's family connections and the roles of some of the side characters, but the villainous reveal is very over the top in its dramatics.
Basically, it's an okay quick read for a mystery set in the 1960s.
the book has a very intresting story but i am left with many questions. i almost wonder if the author could havve included a bit more nformation. i wonder if there was a reason for leaving sp much unawnsered.
