Elektra has finally landed a part in a film. It’s the dream. This was a really fun continuation of Elektra's acting journey, with even more romance based angsty and drama on set. Her cast mates on 'Straker' were so much fun and I loved all the snippets of gossip magazines/email exchanges between her mum and her agent. I'm looking forward to the final book to see where everyone ends up.

(Sent by publisher for review consideration.) This was one of my most highly-anticipated contemporaries of the year - I really enjoyed the first WFC book - and it definitely didn't disappoint! As with the first in the series, it's a hilarious read with a fab main character. The excellent dialogue sets it above most of the other similar books in a crowded field (which includes lots of great reads!) while the extracts from a gossip site and emails from Elektra's agent were great touches. First book read for #britishbookschallenge17

This was just super-fabulous!
Last year I read the first book when it came out, and after so many months the second book is out, and it was as good as the first one. I enjoyed every bit, laughed, cried, shipped, cheered.
Unlike the previous book this one doesn't have auditions, because duh, Elektra (still loving her name) has gotten a role in the movie she was auditioning for in the last book! She is Straker! Yay! And no, this is not a spoiler, it happens in the first pages. :P
So most of the book is Elektra going to readings, filming stuff, seeing revisions happening, learning new lines, and of course meeting and having fun/trying to get along with her new co-actors. I quite loved it all, especially the revisions. I kept being amazed at the fact that stuff constantly got rewritten as new writers were added or fired. Really, can't they just get one general idea and get along with it?
The thing that happened near the end? I had my suspicions from the beginning, but I was hoping it wouldn't happen. I won't say much more than that, but yeah, still sad. Not because it was a bad twist, but the fact that I was sad for a certain person.
Havelski, Carlo, Sam, Amber, Naomi? They were great additions to the cast, though Amber and Sam took a bit before I liked them. They did bring a lot of fun drama though, which I enjoyed reading. What would these two do now?
Havelski, even though he was at times strict, still had a soft heart underneath, and was quite sweet when it really mattered.
One may remember that I wasn't a big fan of Moss in the last book? Well, I have to say that she truly improved and that I loved her to bits in this one. She was sweet, silly, supportive, and I loved the times when Elektra and Moss would get together, or would text. Yeah, this time I could clearly see how they got to be friends, and why they are still such good friends. I did feel sorry for Moss, in regards to her boyfriend. :( What a wartbag that guy is.
At times I had a bit of a laugh when she tried to be sweet, but totally failed with her words, I know the feeling girl, I know the feeling.
Elektra x Archie? Oh my, oh my, oh my, oh my. I hope that these two have some time to get together more. In this book we only had the occasional parts, and a lot of texts, and a few dates, but I wouldn't mind more. They are clearly crazy about each other, and their chemistry is all over the place. My love for Archie went up with the last page of the book. Oh my Lord, that was just too sweet of him!
I was a bit worried we would have a love triangle with Carlo in the mix, but phew. Thank you authors for not going that route. If there is one thing I hate it is love triangles. Sometimes they work, but mostly, no. Just no.
Digby? I won't say anything except that I saw the ending coming. Sorry, for spoiler sake, plus because of other reasons, I won't go further about this. :(
The mom. Really, I hated her in this book. The way she apparently didn't get that her daughter is now 16, that she has a boyfriend, and that no, it is not nice to just do all she did in this one. There is a getting to know the boyfriend and just say hi, and then there is this mom who really was a bit too creepily obsessed with Archie. It was frankly a bit disturbing next to highly annoying. It could really have done without all of this. It quite ruined some of the parts that I liked.
Not to mention that she still treats her daughter as if she is still 5. :| At times I felt sorry for Elektra.
I am still quite amazed that Elektra knew barely anything in Europe, isn't she like 16? I can understand this from a kid who just started school, but a girl almost at her GSCE (or whatever the name of those things were)? No. Just no. That was really one of the weirder things in the book.
Next to the mail exchange that I loved in the previous book, we also have some articles from a website about famous people. It was quite interesting as it gave a bit more insight in both Archie's movie and also Elektra's movie.
All in all, this book was terrific, I laughed (of course she would forget the code when going to the toilet), I shipped (Archie x Elektra), I cheered (Go Go Elekra), I booed (at the mom), I cried (several parts). I fell into this series quite late on, in fact it was a few months before the publication of Take Two that I actually made a start and finished Waiting for Callback, but I knew as soon as I turned the final page I needed to find out what happens next. Luckily for me I didn't have to wait long.
Take Two picks up exactly where Waiting for Callback left off, and we get to hear the rest of that conversation. I loved getting to visit this world again, and go on another journey with Elektra as she gets her first job in the movie business. Her expectations and the reality are very different, but it certainly makes for an entertaining read.
Elektra is just a quirky as usual, and there is never a dull moment with her around, especially with her reactions of shock of having to climb a rope, to a discussion about hidden biscuits
Take Two is a book I couldn't put down and I loved seeing how the characters have grown, and that my dislike of some was very justified. I liked getting to see the characters in different surroundings, and that how we perceive things isn't always what is happening, which shows in the making of the movie and magazine pictures. Seeing Elektra unsure about things, but also excited about little things like having a mirror in her dressing room, just makes her feel more real and likeable.
There are definitely ups and downs in the pages of this book, in all aspects of Elektra's life and seeing how she deals, or ignores them was interesting and funny. I loved her lists, and the emails between her agent, her Mum, and school and how it blends her worlds together. I still dislike Flissy, and was beyond thrilled to see her taken down a notch or two.
If the Geek Girl series and Girl Out of Water had a baby, Take Two would be the result. Its a perfect blend of both books, but also able to stand out on its own and sit proudly on the shelves amongst these two.
Final Verdict
I loved every page of Take Two and I can't wait for the next installment...even if that is in the distant future. But be warned, this book comes with a tissue warning, make sure to have some handy because you will need them. I had to subtlety wipe my eyes on a train to London as I wasn't prepared for that at all.

So what did I think?
A sparkling, fluffy heartwarmer to make you giggle (and occasionally cry too)!
What I love about this series is (firstly) that Elektra is such a magnetic character to relate to: she lurches from one agonising knot of anxiety to the next. Her trials and tribulations are never ending as she juggles her acting, school work, big romance with Archie and her ever-watchful protective parents. You just never know what she’ll get up to next! And secondly, what I love is that the books are so, so funny. The whole story is told with such wit, and gives us oodles of giggles and warm and fuzzy moments.
In Take Two Elektra’s much wanted part in Straker becomes reality (via Slough) and the action revolves around her new experiences on film set. The irony is, you couldn’t find a less likely candidate for a dystopian character as Elektra! I love the details about the film set, and the costumes and the whole showbizzy glamour of it all. The pressures of a long distance relationship plus the perils of social media create a deliciously fizzy cocktail of a story. I mean, Archie’s on set in Transylvania with Gorgeous Girls, eek! And The Bizz.com feeds Elektra a running commentary of all his living and breathing moments, while the relationship is confined to texting. Awww…
This sequel is packed with laughs and giggles, friends and doggies, happiness and heartache. The ending is so, so perfect too! I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with Elektra again, and am already looking forward to Book 3 next year.

This book is about Elektra's part in the action movie Straker. I really enjoyed all the scenes when Elektra was on set, even the stuff that wasn't about filming. Weirdly, I particularly loved reading about her dressing room (I would have been just as excited!) and the table read, and getting to know all the characters who helped make the film. Even though Carlo, Elektra's on-screen love interest, was quite annoying I really liked reading his interactions with Elektra, and the drama between Sam and Amber was constantly entertaining. All the characters came to life and I just wanted to visit the set!
Alongside filming, Elektra is dealing with being a fifteen-nearly-sixteen year old, complete with school stresses and boy troubles. Once again the authors hit the nail on the head with Elektra's internal monologue of worries and woes; she's very relatable and realistic. I really enjoyed the development of her relationship with Archie too - and could understand her frustration at their situation and the hiccups they faced. The end is very, very cute!
This series is such a joy to read - it's light and it's fun and it made me laugh out loud so many times, and at one point I even shed a tear. I definitely recommend the books if you're looking for something to lose yourself in for a while, and I can't wait to read book three next year... Can I have it now? :P

I won this book on a goodread giveaway .This is an ideal book for a young female teenager full of glitz glamour and of course boys.This is an easy and enjoyable read which looks on becoming a whole series

I literally am on a happy book high right now. This being my most anticipated book of 2017 it certainly has a set a high standard for the year. For the entire year I've had to wait since finishing Waiting for Callback at the end of 2015. The smile and excitement when this came through my door was just sheer joy to have it in my hands. I think the bright cover and the wonderful signing my book too made my day or my weekend really. So it was no wonder that from the first to the last page I couldn't stop the smiling, the giddiness and the laughter that came from every page.
Without going into too many spoilers, Take Two continues on from Elektra's moment of fame, being cast as the main lead of Straker, (still a working title) dystopian action-packed, apocalyptic movie that is going to be the best movie of the year...apparently. Whilst she is beyond excited and her love life is officially on the cards, life as a celebrity isn't as it sounds. Glam - nope, nadda, love-scenes - *cringe*,

A fantastic follow up to the first in the series. Despite the craziness of her life, I love how grounded Elektra is. (Actually, I love Moss too, and Mum, and Digby, and custard creams- all of which get a fair amount of air time.)There's something in this book for every reader- bits to make you laugh, bits to make you cry and plenty of life-affirming, upbeat moments that make it the perfect tonic. More please!

As this was the second book in the Waiting for callback series I had a brief idea from the previous book what was going to happen, however there was lots of twists that I wasn't expecting!
Elektra is cast in a film so the book I mostly about the filming and her cast members, during the process she goes through lots of ups and downs such as family problems and relationship issues which all gets tied up at the end.
My favourite character was Digby, if you have read the book you will understand why I say this, we can be depressed together :(
I aren't really sure what I think about Archie as I don't really think he treated Elektra very well. I know he made up for it at the end but in his texts he seemed to be showing off a bit about what he was doing whereas Elektra tried to focus on the negatives more haha.
I loved reading all the emails between the agency and Elektra's mum ,the newspaper reports, and school updates as I think it added something different to the story.
I would recommend if you are looking for a light , fun and fast-paced read, very funny and suitable for 12+ ages :)

First things first, if you're a younger girl - or a fan of Geek Girl - then you will probably love this. I'm not (of either) so my reading of this felt a bit like hard work.
Elektra is kind of ditsy and clueless about so many things, and I just feel she's not really representative of the vast majority of teenagers. Her constant aura of uselessness frustrated me, and I wanted her to grow up a little and get some self-belief.
Her adventures follow the same predictable format as book one, but in this case the act was starting to feel a little tired.
I'm sure I will be in a minority in my response to this. Having really enjoyed book one and found her voice fresh and interesting, it seems like the writers missed a trick to portray Elektra as anything other than a one-dimensional character.

I liked all the on-set/acting stuff, that's a new world I haven't read about before, and it seemed believable and well written. Plus Take Two had the same cute factor as the first book, Elektra being new to everything, first boyfriend, first proper acting role etc, there's an innocence to it all which I enjoyed.
3 stars because the ending could have been a lot better - it was way too short. All the sub-plots did pretty much finish, but each in a one sentence leaving-you-wonder type summary. Maybe 3 stars is a little unfair, but I'll probably read the third book when it comes out.

Let's change things around a little.
Elektra has grown up (a little) and her big starting (not her starring) role has begun filming.
That is all the spoilers you are getting here except for this one.
The authors did the thing that no author should ever do to a reader. Just no. They know what they did and it hurts.
Apart from that this book was as much fun as the first one. Emotional in places, laugh out loud funny in others and you really do feel like Elektra is someone who deserves stardom and good things (if she ignores peer pressure at times). These two books are definitely my favourite finds of this year so far and as I have nearly a year to wait for part 3 I will have to audition for stage school myself. I am typing this after midnight so this will happen today!

The authors did the thing that no author should ever do to a reader. Just no. They know what they did and it hurts.
Apart from that this book was as much fun as the first one. Emotional in places, laugh out loud funny in others and you really do feel like Elektra is someone who deserves stardom and good things (if she ignores peer pressure at times). These two books are definitely my favourite finds of this year so far and as I have nearly a year to wait for part 3 I will have to audition for stage school myself. I am typing this after midnight so this will happen today!

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book and it didn't disappoint in the slightest! Perfectly pitched comedy gold from start to finish but with feeling and delicacy when needed and with a truly heartbreaking thread that had me in tears! Fans will not be disappointed by this total treat! :D

Waiting For Callback: Take Two follows teenager Elektra James as she transforms from aspiring actress to, well, a REAL LIFE actress, as she lands the lead role in a blockbuster film - Slater. The drama this brings is coupled with tension with her almost-boyfriend Archie, as he relocates to Transylvania to play a vampire hunter surrounded by countless beautifully tragic women, commotion with her co-stars and squabbling with her parents, who always know best. The question is, is it truly possible for Elektra to realise her Hollywood dream? Or will everything come crashing down at her feet?
A lot of authors talk about the ‘second book horror’, and how terrifying it can be to follow up a debut novel with another book. However, Perdita and Honor have absolutely nothing to worry about with this absolute star of a sequel.
I rated Waiting For Callback 5*s, and didn’t think Perdita and Honor could do any better. Waiting For Callback made me laugh, made me cry, made me cringe (quite a lot), but above all, it was a book that put me in an amazing mood and I never wanted to put it down. However, the Cargills have surpassed any expectations I had for Take Two. I would rate this book ten stars if I could!
Take Two continues the story of the first book amazingly well, and I loved that we got to learn about Elektra so much more, and see her progress from a young girl who dreamed about becoming an actress, to achieving the starring role in a feature film. I think Elektra is such a great role model for young girls and her inspiring qualities of determination and perseverance (even in the face of total cringeworthy moments that make me want to jump in a hole) are wonderful to see in a YA character. Elektra is so relatable and I loved learning more about her in Take Two.
Moss and Archie were two of my absolute FAVES in the first book, so I was pleased to see them feature a lot in this sequel. I didn’t think it was possible to adore them more than I did in the first book, but I did. If someone said I could either date someone like Archie, or have a best friend like Moss, I would have a very hard deciding who I would choose. That said (who am I kidding?!) I would love to be best friends with Moss. Elektra and Moss’ friendship is undoubtedly the best friendship I have read about in YA, and I love reading about them. Their tenacious hunts for biscuits inspired me unendingly.
However, despite the side-splitting moments in Take Two, there are some things I absolutely cannot forgive Perdita and Honor for. The emotional distress I experienced, in relation to an incident involving ONE OF MY FAVOURITE CHARACTERS was unbelievable. You know what I’m talking about…
That said, I can to an extent forgive you both, because Take Two brought me so much joy. It’s such a cliché, but it’s true. It’s one of those books you want to keep close to you always, in case you need a pick me up, a reminder that sometimes, life ain’t that bad. If we are surrounded by good people, even the most difficult of situations can be worked out. Similarly to the first book, the voice was still fresh and funny and fabulously fun, written with a hell lot of heart. By reading this book you can really tell that Perdita and Honor truly love what they’re doing, and believe me, we all love what you guys are doing too <3
So, as you can probably tell, I ADORED Waiting For Callback: Take Two, and I think you should all run weirdly like Elektra (hands flapping and everything) to your nearest bookshop and pick up a copy!!!

won a copy of this through maxpops book was excited when it was described as book for girls who liked geek girl which I a series I love. however was disappointed in book it was more meg Cabot writing style to me but not as well developed characters I mean its a light read but nothing that made me go wow. I certainly didn't feel eletra had the same charisna that Harriet has in geek girl series

I am so excited to be reviewing Take Two, the sequel to the amazing Waiting for Callback by mother-daughter duo Perdita and Honor Cargill (the perfect book to review on Mother's Day!), on my blog today, as I have so many positive thoughts which I cannot wait to share with you all. I was really happy to receive a copy of Take Two just before publication in January from Perdita, the lovely author, and I ended up reading the whole thing in one day. There was other stuff to be done, but it was just so entertaining that I couldn’t stop reading, so I decided I simply had to read the whole thing to save myself from being distracted from other tasks.
I feel like an obvious place to start is with Elektra. She is such a fun protagonist, and I genuinely love her so much, as she’s funny but also interesting, and very understandable. She also has such a wonderful character voice; it’s fun and distinctive, and highly entertaining to read. I also thought the characters around her were a lot of fun as well, as her fellow actors were incredibly zany. And Archie – his involvement in the book was usually sweet, increasingly sad, and always compelling.
