Most of his young life, Morgan Wentworth has dreamed of becoming a principal dancer in a prestigious corps de ballet. After years studying the art in Milan, Morgan comes home to New York City to apprentice with the Manhattan Ballet Company only to be hit by the unexpected death of his older brother, Jake. The grieving dancer learns his life is threatened by a dangerous rival motorcycle gang and that pierced, tattooed, HOT biker Zeke Ivers has been assigned by Jake’s MC to guard him. Saddled with the constant presence of the infuriating man, Morgan juggles the demands of an exhausting dance schedule as well as his new responsibilities as CEO of his family’s multi-million-dollar company. He never expects to develop an attraction for the straight, obnoxious biker, but that’s exactly what happens.
Estranged from an abusive family, Zeke Ivers has lived at the Sentinel’s club house and worked on cars since he was a teen. When fellow club member Jake Wentworth and a rival club president’s girl are killed on Jake’s bike, the Sentinel’s president delegates the protection of Jake’s little brother, Morgan, to Zeke. Zeke would do anything for the club that pulled him off the streets, but Morgan’s a ballet dancer, for Christ’s sake, as well as annoying as hell. Still, Zeke finds himself inexplicably drawn to the young man. The more attracted Zeke becomes to Morgan, the more the biker is forced to examine his sexuality and decide whether two people from opposite sides of the tracks could possibly have a future together, or if Zeke should do what is fast becoming too painful to consider: let Morgan go.
Oh Lawd this was a mess! 😫😪Wtf was that plot? It should have worked but the author kept introducing scenarios after scenarios and leaving them unsolved. It was going to be a solid 3.5 stars until towards the end instead of focusing on the MCs, the author decided to introduce a freaky - pervert - stalker - villain into the story, out of nowhere!! 🤦🏾♀️ Ugh!!!!😫😫 Tomas arc was so unnecessary. So that Zeke would come swoop in and save the day.. 😕 Knight and shining amour and all that jazz!
Zeke is a 27 year old mechanic, who is in a biker gang/ biker club, i liked Zeke, but his insecurities made him a jerk, the constant i am not good for you, blah! blah! blah! got old too fast.
Morgan is a ballerina and a millionaire CEO. Morgan had so many responsibilities for a 19 year old he barely had time for himself. I liked Morgan too, but he was given too many unrealistic responsibilities even for the fictional world to handle.
Zeke and Morgan are likable characters. I really liked them and I feel like they were cheated out of a good romance story. They barely spent any time together. When they were together, they would spend that time having sex then the next day, Zeke would split. Ugh!
The side characters were okay.
😫😫 This should have worked. I really hope the other books don't have many plot holes and a gazillion things going on. I may try them on audio.
The premise is everything, the execution is whack!
😫😫😭😭 I just wanted The Ballerino and the Biker story, is that too much to ask? 😫🤣
I'm a sucker for lovers from different social backgrounds. Sure, a ballet dancer and a mechanic from a motorcycle gang is quite a considerable difference.
I liked both Zeke and Morgan a lot. Their romance was sweet and given the unique touches (aka a Prince Albert piercing), quite interesting to watch.
I wasn't really happy with the drama about a rivaling MC trying to kill Morgan, though. The reason why they wanted Morgan dead didn't seem reasonable to me at all. Maybe it's gang logic that I don't understand.
Also the final 10% of the book creeped me out like crazy. For a completely different reason.
Therefore, only 3 stars this time.
But all in all, it's a solid romance and I liked Morgan despite being a rich kid. Also, Zeke's insecurities didn't dominate the story, so I definitely favored their romance.
I'm not so sure if I will continue with the story about the pet stylist, though.
I loved many things about this book. Both MCs were unique, approachable and likable. The whole setting of Zeke being so different from Morgan and having to protect him was very appealing, and didn't overshadow the character development or their budding relationship and Zeke's self-discovery. There was certainly tension, some angst and fists flying to keep a girl entertained. I also loved the fact that the danger came from different sources and how it all meshed well with the motorcycle club and Morgan's ballet apprenticeship.
I loved the motorcycle club! I mean it is such a great bunch of people and they are wonderfully unique, accepting and so supportive of each other - none of the usual catty behavior and vindictiveness. It was fun how every member was described and I enjoyed getting to know them.
I loved Morgan and the choices he made. At times his behavior mirrored that of a very young man which in fact he was but most of the time he seemed mature and level-headed. I admired his talent and dedication and was happy how it turned out for him in the end. Zeke while being unsure in the beginning was very good for Morgan. I liked his protectiveness, his easy acceptance of himself and how he treated Morgan, how supportive he was of Morgan's career and his decisions. Overall, it was a very enjoyable story and I highly recommend it!
Just reading the title for this book immediately grabbed my attention and I rushed to see the blurb. After that I had to read the story and find out more about these intriguing characters.
Our Ballerino is Morgan. He's 19-years-old and has been living in Milan, away from his family, for years, trying to make his dream of dancing at a big Ballet Academy come true. His parents died two years ago and the only famly member he has left is his estranged brother, James, who is part of a MC and who he hopes to get to know now that he's back in the States. Fate has other plans for them though and the book starts with Morgan attending James' funeral. Right after that his life comes upside down with a rival motorcycle club seeking revenge for the death of one of their own. Morgan is James' brother so he's going to have to pay for their loss.
The Biker is Zeke, 27 and already a member for years. He's coming from a rough background and now his family is the club, as far as he's concerned. Zeke gets the role of the bodyguard and shadows Morgan for as long as it takes until they can guarantee he's not in danger anymore. He struggles with his sexuality and his attraction to Morgan but as they spend time together he becomes more relaxed and starts to get attached to him in a way he didn't expect.
The relationship between Morgan and Zeke was a bit messy with a lot of ups and downs. They could spend a day together followed by weeks of silence and then get together again. There were arguments and disappearing acts but ultimately they suited each other. They were good together and it was obvious they had a future together, if only Zeke got his act together and got over his issues about the difference in their social status.
What bothered me in the story is that Morgan always seemed to be in danger of some kind and it was always something completely different than the last time. If in the space of a few months he was in danger so many times and for so many different reasons, how can he feel safe in the future? The story ended but since he seems to attract danger it's almost certain it's going to happen again in the future. It wasn't just one thing that go resolved and that was that. Each time it was something else and it appeared out of nowhere.
Rebecca James is a new to me author, this is the first book I've read by her but I'm certain there will be more in the future. First of all, I can barely wait for the next book in this series. I'm excited to read more about the rest of the club's members. Let's hope Swish and Dante are next because they seem to have an interesting story to tell and a lot of frustration between them. They were both very likeable and I'm rooting for them to get together.
All in all, this was an interesting story that I enjoyed reading. I hope Morgan and Zeke will appear again in the next books of the series so we can get a glimpse in how their life turned out to be.
I started this series because I really want to read the 4th book. I’ve been told it’s better to start from the beginning, so that’s what I’m doing.
Morgan is a ballet dancer. He studied ballet in Milan, but now that he’s 19, he’s back home to apprentice with the Manhattan Ballet Company. His brother, who he hadn’t seen in years, suddenly died, and now Morgan has no one, since his parents also died several years ago. Officially he’s the CEO of his parents’ company, but he’s not interested in taking over at this point. So he has someone handling the company so he can dance.
When there’s a guy in his apartment telling Morgan to go with him, Morgan is wary. Zeke is a member of his brother’s motorcycle club, but Morgan isn’t sure he can trust him. When Zeke tells him someone is out to get Morgan, Morgan feels he has no choice but to come to the club house with Zeke.
Zeke isn’t gay. But why is he so attracted to Jake’s kid brother then? With Zeke protecting Morgan, the two get pretty close. But Morgan doesn’t have any free time left with handling his company and his ballet. And of course Zeke still isn’t gay..
I’ve already read the second book, and these books all have one thing on common. There’s LOTS of push and pull. The two don’t even end up together but for the end. Now that would normally totally turn me off and make me stop reading, but I do have to say I still liked this. Not so much that I want to read it again, but the characters spoke to me, and I really wanted to find out what was going to happen.
I’m rounding it down because I want to remind myself it’s too exhausting to re-read, but I still liked it enough to give it 3.5 stars.
This was a really pleasant surprise even if, at times, it felt like I'd stepped into a series that was already a few books in.
I don't think this one is connected to anything else yet but I'm guessing all the additional details were laying foundations for the rest of the series.
Morgan and Zeke were a beautifully written pair, a study in contrasts but with a real genuine connection. Morgan's world of ballet being so harsh and unforgiving, especially at such a young age just starting out, and Zeke's not so perfect upbringing, gave them both levels of sympathy and understanding.
There's a cracking good set of secondary characters and I really liked the world building. Now I'm guessing there's going to be a book with Dante and Swish but I'm also wondering if perhaps Blaze is going to be joining that pairing or if might not have been in love with Morgan's brother - and his best friend - the late Jake.
I can't wait to find out and will be keeping an eye on this author.
#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.
This author has an interesting way of writing where major things happen, interactions I’d like to read happen, and we’re told about it having already happened. There were conversations - Zeus calling Morgan, them hanging out, that I want to read as it actually happens, not be given a summary of what happened afterwards.
Other than that, I did enjoy this story. There’s just something to how this author can write that push-pull, attempt to resist attraction, that I do like.
Can’t wait to finish getting caught up with this series as some of the later books sound great.
***** This is not a typical biker story, it's much more. The anticipation of what may come next is beautifully written. Our talented, masculine ballerino, and businessman, Morgan, 19, came home from Italy for his brother's funeral. Two years earlier both of their parents died, and since, Jake and Morgan were communicating more. Now, Morgan is alone, and becomes CEO of Wentworth Properties, with big desicions to make and problems within the company. Biker Zeke, 27, pierced and tattooed was a friend and fellow biker club member of Jake's. Zeke takes Morgan to the Motorcycle Clubhouse for safety from a rival MC, and he's Morgan's bodyguard. The threats are real.
We see grief, confusion, violence, rescues, attraction, dirty deeds, and also a devious, crazed man. There are homophobes, true friends, safety, deep passions and more violence.
Zeke is straight until Morgan's presence pulls him in a diferent direction. Morgan's a virgin, but Zeke is unaware when they first have sex. It's Morgan's first anal, and of course, first time M/M for Zeke. We have a lot going on throughout as the men become closer, argue, and reunite when near tragedy hits.
The terrific writing and flow make it a wonderful read. Highly recommeded. ENJOY !
Standing at the grave of his older brother Jake, Morgen realize he is all alone on this world. With his heavy training scheme as ballet dancer he has no time for anything... sure not to fulfill his function as CEO of a big company.
That he is snatched away by the hot tattooed biker Zeke, he brings him over to the leader of motorcycle gang The Hedonist. Here Morgan finds out another gang is after him, because of his brother and the Hedonist want to protect Morgan, because of his brother. Zeke and Morgan, irritations and hate at first sight... but there is more under the surface... lust. To protect Morgan is quite a challenge for Zeke, watching that beautiful graceful body... he can’t get distracted from all the threat outside.
A fast paced story, entertaining, witty, hot, sweet and with some angst. Captivating written with good development of main personalities and we also meet the other members of the club... a promise for the next installment! I loved this story and the way it’s written.
It was ok. The end was kind of abrupt though. Everything resolved too fast and easy. Also, their HFN ending left lots to be desired. Since this was the beginning of a series, I hope to see more of Morgan and Zeke in the next book. A few other characters were introduced, hinting the next books are going to have Dante and Blaze as MCs. In short: it was good enough that I will give the next book a chance.
I was totally amazed and surprised with how much I enjoyed The Ballerino and The Biker. This opposites attract story had a little bit of everything and I relished everything about it. Rebecca James did a wonderful job of bringing Morgan and Zeke together as friends and then as lovers.
Morgan was crazed with dance. It was his life long dream to be where he is. After being estranged from his brother he was looking forward to getting to know him and had that just torn out of his hands. Now, he has to deal with being the only living Wentworth, running a company that he never had any interest in, his apprenticeship, and, being chased by the Pistons for the error of his brother. Then there are the feelings he is starting to get for Zeke. He's setting himself up for heartache. He knows Zeke is straight or afraid of coming out of the closet. His remarks, his mannerisms when Morgan is around all shout for him to make a clean break from him. But, his heart won't allow that.
Zeke was brought up by a brutal man who instilled words like queer, pansy, fairy into him. If you weren't big, strong, into sports, you weren't a man. But, there is something about Morgan that is drawing him in the more he spends time with him. His words and actions are just him denying what he wants. When he doesn't have to keep Morgan safe anymore, he's happy yet lost. When Morgan shows up at his shop, it takes everything he has not to hold him in his arms and never let go.
When things are finally starting to come together for them, two men enter their lives that will do nothing but cause trouble. Zeke can handle his father but, can Morgan handle Tomas and what he really wants from him.
This was such a diverse story. I enjoyed all the characters in the story. I enjoyed the MC aspect of it because it wasn't rough and tumble but, even though they had an odd business, wasn't corrupt, wasn't mean but took care of their own. And, I love dance. The ballet is beautiful and Rebecca James did a great job in bringing that across as well. Morgan was a man that I could look up to, enjoy being around. And, I adored all sides of Zeke, the hard side, the soft side … watching him come to terms with his sexuality was beautiful.
This is the first book in the Hedonist series and I can't wait to see what else Rebecca James has in store for us.
Ok. I Really liked this book for a New-to-me Author. I read it pretty much straight through without taking a break cause it sucked me in and I needed to know what happened next. Great Plot and Storyline. Morgan is working toward becoming a Principle Ballerino, while trying to take on more responsibility of his parents multi-million dollar company. Zeke Is a biker with the Biker Club Morgan’s brother was involved with. When Morgan’s brother unexpectedly dies, it’s Zeke’s job to keep Morgan safe from Harm from the Rival Club. Now. This book has a great twist at the ending that I did NOT see coming. I mean I was on the edge of my seat reading it. Really well done. It’s a HEA. But Now I really need book two to hear Swish and Dante’s story and I really need to know more about Blaze’s story too. and I am really disappointed I have to wait for them to be finished written to read the next books. LOL.
The writing was sub-par from the start and the first chapter left me going WTF. Where was the editor telling the author that a stories don't work like that?
Too bad - the idea of this pairing is amazing, I hope somebody else tries this again with actual characters.
This started out as a 5 star read. I was loving the relationship between Morgan and Zeke. This was super hot enemies to lovers with the threat of a rival gang killing Morgan thrown in for excitement. I could even understand Zeke feeling unworthy of Morgan and that causing problems. I don’t want to give anything away. I’ll just say it took such a cheesy turn that I don’t know if I want to read any more books by this author. I certainly didn’t stop reading. It’s well written and I loved Zeke and Morgan. Give me some time and I may feel compelled to read about Dante and Swish. 🤪
Never have I ever read anything with characters such as these. A ballerino? Nope. A biker? Yes. And I loved it. My only “but” is that they really didn’t spend much time together. I hated the lapses in their relationship. Anywhere from 2 months to 3 weeks. I get Morgan’s hectic dance schedule but it still bothered me a tad. Otherwise, this book was excellent.
Morgan Wentworth has a dream of becoming a principal dancer with the Manhattan Ballet Company. He’s worked for it all his life, sacrificing friends, living away from family as he studied in Milan and now that he’s serving an apprenticeship with the famed company, his goal is near. His parents were killed two years before and though he’s the principal stockholder and sole beneficiary of the Wentworth Corporation, he delegates the day to day operations to a friend of his father’s. He’s not ready to give up the company but he’s also definitely not ready to give up his chance at ballet.
In the meantime, his only brother is killed. Rafe was in a motorcycle club and was killed in a bike accident while riding with the girlfriend of the rival club leader, a nasty guy who now is out for revenge. Since Rafe is dead, he’ll happily take out Rafe’s little brother, Morgan, instead. Rafe’s club sends Zeke to protect Morgan and get him to their stronghold where they can all watch over him. And for some reason, Zeke is attracted to the gorgeous ballet dancer—to his body, his personality, his intellect, his ambition, and his general sweetness. It takes some time, but eventually, Zeke realizes that the homophobic names his father called him when he was young weren’t so far from the mark. He’s bisexual and he’s happy to learn that it’s a real thing. He also realizes what a despicable fool his father was.
In the interim, while their attraction is blooming, and sometimes taking a few steps backward, the rival motorcycle club has finally been blackmailed into forgetting about Morgan but now there’s someone else leaving scary notes and hang-up calls and following Morgan late at night in a dark-windowed SUV. And that’s not all—Zeke’s father comes back into his life and another older man, who seems to have a crush on Morgan, steps into his life as a friend and father figure. To be honest, there were a lot of subplots all floating around waiting to be wrapped up that were still unresolved at the 90% mark of the story. For me, the resolution of all these issues was a bit too pat, too rushed, and too unrealistic to warrant a high rating.
On the other hand, I enjoyed the characters themselves. The author did a great job with character development and laid a good foundation for this story and any future stories that involve this motorcycle club. Ultimately, I’m happy that Zeke and Morgan ended up together and I’m happy with the decision Morgan made about his ballet career and his role in the Wentworth Corp. There were a few too many issues left unaddressed in Zeke’s father’s subplot to suit me and the Morgan’s mentor storyline turned quite bizarre so that was not satisfying to me either. Overall, I liked the book, mostly due to the MCs, and I would recommend it to those who enjoy a sexy biker boy who has finally accepted his attraction to men, and to those like me who love stories about male dancers. Their form and grace and pure physicality are a definite plus and always something I enjoy reading.
I'm a little conflicted on this one.... I liked it and I didn't like it. I think the problem is that there were a lot of very complicated things going on but everything seemed to be dealt with on the surface. Morgan is a dancer and gets these big roles, but we only see the surface of that. Morgan is the majority owner of a real estate company and starts to take over but we only hear about how he made changes. Zeke decorates his house but we only get a few sentences about online shopping. Yeah, Morgan has no time in the day and is exhausted (we hear that a lot), but still seems to get all this done, however, how he gets it done, when he gets it done and where he gets it done are a complete mystery. We see none of that. Just rehearsal, some business lunches and sex with Zeke.
And then there was Tomas. This was so unnecessary especially since so much other interesting stuff (like dealing with the board and making the changes, etc) was glossed over. Ugh. This almost ruined the book completely.
I liked the story but it did too much too fast. There are a lot of loose ends so I'm hopeful that the author can focus on the next book with more depth.
Ballet dancer Morgan needs protection from Biker Zeke, a member of the same motorcycle club as Morgan's deceased brother. There are a few ups and downs as they navigate their issues. Zeke, having grown up in a highly homophobic family, initially has some issues with his new feelings for another man. They grow closer as they spend more time together. They are from different worlds but were really hot together. Can Zeke overcome his issues? Will Morgan be safe? Will he take control of his family's company? Will Morgan fulfil his dancing dream? Overall a good story. I'm keen to read the rest of the series.
4.5 what a great story. Had me from the beginning. I stayed up way to late for this one. I loved the acceptance of the Club. I really love what they did as a business. It’s not one I’ve read before, and I loved the uniqueness. I love the family feeling, and how they weren’t your traditional club. But they still were your traditional club. I need more of this. Morgan had me from the first time he threw the banana. And zeke was close behind... I loved the relationship development among the danger. The writing was great and the dialogue was spot on. Would have been a perfect 5 except for the ending. The ending was rushed. It felt like the writer reached the max amount of words allowed and realized it had to end. The epilogue was nice but I think it should have been more to it and should have been the last few chapters instead of an epilogue. And that’s why it wasn’t perfect. Other than that, perfect book, really hope I can fin more like it.
Hmm... I have so many things to say about this, but bottom line is I finished it and enjoy it. Honestly, for the first 25% I'm still unsure whether am I going to finish this. Is so easy to just give up especially when I don't have fellow friends who read the same book and urge me to go on. But.... I'm glad I persevere.
First of all, Zeke the biker is from a rather benign MC, they are pretty legit and definitely not criminals. Zeke was tasked to protect Morgan from a rival gang and he is a bit of a jerk in the beginning and tease Morgan about being a ballerino. I thought 'princess' and 'twinkle toe' was a cute endearment, but Morgan doesn't seems please about it. Anyway, there is some attraction going on. This is definitely a GFY story with Zeke fighting his feelings for a man. I like it when he finally embrace the idea of being with Morgan and being all sweet. There are communication issue, as in they never communicate. Zeke is the kind of guy who prefer to internalize and he don't reach out, which is a douche move. Why am I still rooting for him? Well, I guess not every character can be perfect and I'm liking Zeke's imperfection.
From the blurb, I thought the whole plot will be about the MC trying to protect Morgan from a rival gang. It does feel kinda weird that the issue was solved half way through the story, which left me wondering what will happened in second half. I ended up going in blind and was a little surprised when another twist presented. Can I just say 'poor Morgan!'. First, he had to deal with biker wanting to kill him and then he had to meet another creep. He had the worst luck ever!
I feel that this book had a lot of potential. I like the MC family, Swish and Dante are a couple that I definitely going to read. Morgan is a sweetheart, he dream to become a dancer, but as the story progress, he found a new passion and purpose. Zeke is not a perfect hero and he had some short coming, but overall, I like his low key characteristic. He is very different from the usual biker a-hole that I read about. Maybe can be describe as lack of intensity, but is quite refreshing to read a different style of biker.
Morgan is a ballet dancer. He's come home to New York be be in an apprentice in a prestigious dance company and for the funeral of his brother. After the funeral he returns to his friends apartment and is shocked when a man stepped out of the shadows. He tries to get away but winds up with this huge guy laying on top of him, telling him his life is in danger. After realizing the man on top of him is aroused, regardless of the insults coming out of his mouth, he decides to give the man a chance to explain. Morgan’s brother had died with a rivals gang leaders woman on his bike, and they want revenge.
Zeke is a member of the Hedonist motorcycle club. Tasked with guarding Morgan, he was not happy, or something. Morgan makes him angry, or something. Morgan just does something to him that he doesn't like, maybe.
After attempts on his life they come to an understanding which includes Zeke in Morgans bed. Zeke’s stupidity tears them apart, thinking Morgan is too good for him. He accepts that he is attracted to a man, but not sure what to do about it. Leaving Morgan open to an unknown danger.
This was a hot book. These guys together, gave me the feelings I look for in a romance, a tight chest, a smile just because something is right, telling one of the heroes he's an ass. This reads like the start of a series. I hope so. I want to see more of the hedonists, with names like Blaze, Dante, Hung and Swish, it should be interesting.

When The Ballerino and the Biker opened to Morgan standing over the grave of his older brother I knew I was going to feel particularly close to Morgan. I knew that this was a character that was going to be grieving. As the chapter went on I realized with even more clarity, just HOW alone this guy was. On the other side of that I got to watch him evolve into a strong and amazing character.
The author puts Morgan through a whole heck of a lot. I found his best friend to be so vital to his sanity and when push came to shove she did the right thing to make Morgan's life better.
Zeke. So, I had my up and down moments with this guy. He was conflicted and struggling with a lot of demons in his head but there were times that no amount of demons made you treat someone the way he treated Morgan. Knowing all he'd lost and how alone he was should have told him more than anything. So, yeah, Zeke is NOT a person you'd want to determine a mood based on body language or words. He is more a guy that needs you to hold a blinking sign with detailed instructions. And that's okay it really is because he does get his stuff in order.
This story had two parts almost, a little mystery, suspense, and perfect conflict. I really enjoyed this book and was so freaking happy that it ended how it did. It was one of those, THAT is how it had to go down, moments.
It's book one of a series and I am so excited to read more of these guys. I saw a few guys there worthy of their HEA's so I can't wait to read them!
I loved the the plot of this book the reason for 3 stars and not 4 the Freaking stupid ending.... It felt stump and if the author just wanted to end the book .... This could just be me......
