A Requiem Inc. Story

Dying is all in a day’s work. Love is more dangerous.

Ghostwalker Sam Jones has been half in love with Michael King since he started working at Requiem Inc. But Michael is his boss and a Guardian, to boot. Sam thinks they could make it work anyway, but Michael uses his position and his age to keep Sam at arm’s length.

When Sam continues to volunteer for the most dangerous cases, Michael has to intervene. He tells himself he’s just doing his job, but he’s always seen Sam as more than another operative, and he can’t bear the thought of not taking his chance. The connection between them has been strong from the beginning, and Michael’s telepathy adds unexpected depth and an edge to their new romance, but working together while they try to build their relationship might be the hardest part of their job if they don’t make some sacrifices.

It’s safe to say I underestimated Bethke the first few times I read her stuff. Or maybe it’s just that I connect more with her paranormal/fantasy stories over her contemporary stories (two of which I rated 2-stars). Either way, I really love the books in this deeply romantic ghost-walking series.

In this sequel to Ghost of a Chance, we dive back in at Requiem Inc where Ghostwalker Sam Jones has been pining for his boss for close to a decade, a Guardian named Michael.

As a Guardian and as Sam’s superior, Michael has spent ten years painstakingly keeping his feelings in check, putting himself and Sam through a world of sorrow and heartache with his stubborn refusal to allow them to be together.

But when Sam finally hits breaking point and threatens to leave Requiem for good, Michael panics and realises just how foolish he’s been denying the depth of his and Sam’s feelings for one another. With a lot of reasoning and a bit of necessary grovelling, Michael finds himself finally giving in to his attraction, claiming Sam as his own once and for all.

Although emotional sparks fly and sexual longings are finally realised in spectacular fashion, their work situation is still deeply complicated — what with Michael having to physically kill Sam on a daily basis in order for Sam to do his job as a skilled Ghostwalker. Working out a way to do the jobs they are passionate about while building the relationship they deserve is a tricky business, but well worth the trouble.

I had a great time reading Sam and Michael’s story. I still feel book one is the stronger of the two, but only because Michael’s denial and hesitancy to be with Sam initially tired me out a bit. Rest assured, once he pulled his head out of his ass, I loved how their story unfolded, with just as much emotional punch and sexual charge as book one.

Although no longer part of the line, the Requiem Inc books are easily the best of the Dreamspun Beyond offerings, and I kind of hope Bethke keeps writing stories in this unique and wonderful series even though she’s parted ways with the publisher.

Ghostwalker Sam has been in love with Guardian Michael for a decade. But Michael insists on pushing Sam away. He has reasons: Sam is ten years younger than him; he can't ever bond with Sam; and he's Sam's boss.

I liked both Sam and Michael in the first book of the Requiem Inc. series, but there wasn't quite enough tension in Lost Souls Found.

The first half of the book is just Sam and Michael talking round and round the subject of being together. It takes Sam asking for a transfer for Michael to pull his head out of his metaphorical arse. And once he does, the second half of the book is all about Michael getting possessive and figuring out how he can be both Sam's boyfriend and Guardian.

I wanted stronger relationship development on page. Michael and Sam already know each other well. They're already in love, even if Michael is too stubborn to admit it. Once they get together, the sex is hot and plentiful. Thumbs up for that.

Lost Souls Found is an enjoyable read. I just wanted more excitement and more ghostwalking. The creativity of the first book was muffled here. I missed the stories of wondering spirits.

I am still very much looking forward to the third book in the series.

Bethke so far has been a consistent, well rounded, and much appreciated author, and I overall liked this sequel to Ghost of a Chance - just not as much.

I knew going in that though I loved the idea of Sam and King getting their story, the fact that this was 10 years in the making, was not something that would easily sit well with me.

Was King frustrating in his stubborn insistence that he and Sam had no future based on his seemingly one sided insistence that it would never work? Absolutely. Not only did King use their age difference (which is a mere decade), but he also played the card of being Sam’s boss to really hide behind his fears of possibly not being enough for Sam, and thus denied them a chance at happiness for years. Argghhh! However, I will give points to Bethke for making King eat plenty of humble pie, and I was satisfied with how that was handled.

Just so you know, this was more about Sam and King working through several issues, mainly how to mesh their personal and professional lives. King is not only an anchor but a telepathic guardian as well, and this double whammy means King is particularly hardwired to make sure all those who are under his care are happy, content, and safe. When it comes to Sam, that instinct is magnified at least 100 fold and quickly, King’s possessive and protective urges come to the fore causing problems...

So, like the first book, this centers on two people who have a deep connection, work through their problems and fears, and come out the other side extremely happy and in love. I’m thankful that Sam and King talk and solve things maturely. Was it all a bit too easy? Yes…. but again, I’m ok with that. Extra bonus points that this was oh-so-smexy just like its predecessor! Avery’s story is next, and I look forward to it come May!

Ten years is a long time to love someone who doesn’t love you back.

For ghostwalker Sam Jones, his reality is the man he's half in love with has been keeping him at arm's length for a decade. Michael King is a Guardian. He has the anchor gene, but it manifested strongly and he also developed telepathic abilities. He doesn't just take care of one ghostwalker - he takes care of them all. King was made for the job, he's genetically predisposed to care but because he can also read his employees' minds he is particularly suited to take care of their needs.

But Michael doesn't read Sam. He keeps barriers up between the two and for some good reasons: Michael is Sam's boss, which puts him in a position of authority over Sam, and he's almost a decade older. Though it doesn't seem like an enormous age gap to Sam, to Michael it's a chasm as wide as the Grand Canyon.
But it was wrong for a lot of reasons—mostly because Michael was Sam’s boss, but also because Sam had been harboring a crush on him for years. Though Michael’s own feelings had developed too, it was taking advantage.

But wanting Michael and not being able to have him is hurting Sam too deeply.
Sam dropped his head and just breathed for a moment. Then he walked toward the door and spoke in a voice so low Michael almost didn’t hear it.
“It hurts less when you shove a sword through my chest.”

Sam has some hard decisions to make, ones that will make it easier to have a life, even if it isn't with Michael as he'd hoped.
“It’s never going to happen. Ten years is a long time to love someone who doesn’t love you back.”
Dom gave him a watery smile. “He loves you back.”
Sam shook his head. “He could if he’d let himself. But he won’t.”

Lost Souls Found has less to do with the spirit plane, and only has a couple of instances of ghostwalking. The story is far more about the relationship, or lack thereof, between Sam and Michael and the will-they-won't-they finally listen to one another and take a chance.
“Read me.”
Michael spun around. “I don’t do that with you.”
The fierce determination on Sam’s face startled him. “I’m asking you to. Read me. Because words aren’t working with you. I don’t know why but… just read me.”

When the relationship does kick in, it goes at a pretty fast clip. That made sense to me being that the characters had already wasted a decade, why wait longer? My only complaint about the romance was how much give there was on Sam's part to make Michael more comfortable, whereas there wasn't much give on Michael's side.

There's still not a lot of explanation about the spirit plane or the different jobs at Requiem, Inc. as a whole. Lost Souls Found is definitely more of a UST-packed romance, but, personally, while I enjoyed reading the story I was hoping for more world building and better relationship development between Sam and Michael.

However, the HEA is sweet and there's an exclusive excerpt for Somebody to Die For, the next story in the Requiem Inc. series, at the end, and I am really excited to see what Bethke does with Avery's story!

This was not what I’d hoped it would be. We could all see how Sam and Michael were pining for each other in Ghost of a Chance, but I didn’t expect this book to be so incredibly predictable.

We have Sam pining for Michael. We have Michael saying we can’t, I’m your boss, blahblahblah. Then we have Sam

I never bought Michael’s sudden 180. I mean, he clearly loved Sam, but resisted him for 10 freaking years. And then all of a sudden he’s all, I love you, we should move in together!

I kind of wanted there to be a situation involving them both (like with ghostwalking or something), which then would bring them closer together and would make Michael admit his true feelings. Not this back and forth while nothing really happens.

I still really love the world Kris T. Bethke created and there are a lot of interesting characters whose books I really want to read (Tyler!!!). But this one was not a winner for me.

YES! This is exactly what I was hoping for when we first realize in Blake’s book that there is something between Sam and Michael. This is what I needed and boy did it deliver.

When Michael anchored Sam in Ghost of a Chance and they had that moment, I was lost. We know that Sam has feelings for Michael and we know that Michael has feelings for Sam but Michael has a whole book full of reasons why nothing can happen. First it was their age difference of 10 years, and then it’s because Michael is Sam’s boss and the Guardian for the Duncan Moor branch of Requiem Inc. but Sam knows what he wants and that is Michael King.
Sam had been half in love with Michael King pretty much from the moment they met. But he also knew it was a fruitless longing. The ten-year age difference meant nothing to Sam, but Michael held it between them like a shield.

I love how this started with Sam going into the spirit plane to help a reluctant soul cross over and Tom - the reluctant soul - later becomes someone to help Sam along the way with Michael. This whole world of ghostwalkers and their anchors is amazing to me. I love the idea of one person being able to literally be killed to enter a plane to help those who have died cross over into the light and the idea of one person being able to anchor them in this plane so they can come back and then be the one to take care of them when they are alive again is simply stunning. Even though Dom and Sam are nothing more than best friends along with being paired as ghostwalker/anchor for the last 12 years, the way they work together and trust one another is gorgeous.

Thankfully this is told from both Sam and Michael’s POV because this reader had one hell of a need to see where Michael really was with his feelings for Sam and we get that right away. Michael has a lot of responsibility when it comes to his operatives at Requiem Inc and being not only an anchor - with the anchor gene - but a Guardian with his telepathy he has that natural inclination to care and take care of people. To let himself be with Sam could be dangerous because of these things but make no mistake, Michael is into Sam with the same level of feelings that Sam has for Michael, he is just better at controlling his wants.
He considered each of his sixteen operatives family in one way or another. But his affection for Sam wasn’t brotherly or fatherly. It wasn’t even all that friendly. His body and heart wanted more from Sam, though he could never have it.

Goodness this book was so freaking fracking good. Honesty, I opened it just to peek and ended up staying up past my bedtime to devour this in less than 3 hours. I loved the bit of backstory we get with Michael and Sam when they first met and how the attraction was instant. I love that we know how much Michael wants Sam and how he tends to be different with Sam than the other operatives when it comes to taking care of him. We know that Michael would do anything to be able to have Sam and when the time comes for them to finally give in… good lord was it ever worth it.

I love first kisses, whether they be the timid light brush of lips on lips or the first kisses that are so filled with every emotion the only thing that can happen is a clash of mouth on mouth and passion so hot I had to stick my foot out of the blankets to get cooled off. These two have the passion in spades and that one kiss wasn’t enough for me and thankfully it wasn’t enough for Sam and Michael either.

Michael and Sam have been dancing around their attraction to one another for 10 long angst and UST filled years so I have absolutely no problem with Michael’s final acceptance and surrender to Sam. We know what he wants and how hard it is for him to keep his feelings in check so I was head over feet in love with Michael when he listens to what Sam says about dating a ghostwalker and finally takes a chance on love.

It was stunning to see how these two worked together and how miserable it made Michael. Yup, I loved seeing him fight his natural urge to take care of Sam even as his anchor when it wasn’t his place. This book really isn’t about finding love, these two have been in that zone for years but this was about finding the balance between their love and what they do within Requiem Inc.

Gah! Michael, he just killed me in this. He was so raw and troubled with having to kill his boyfriend over and over again even though it’s his job, it hurts him to do it. Michael fought so hard to not love Sam but thankfully when faced with losing what he won’t let himself have, he gives in.
He’d thought he could handle it. If he’d realized just how hard it would be, he might not have gotten involved with Sam. He might have let Sam leave and move on with his life. Michael’s heart gave a painful thump at the thought. There was no going back, and he didn’t even want to. But that didn’t make any of it easy.

I have so many moments highlighted and I hugged my Nook at least a dozen times while reading this. I tried to put it down last night and go to bed but I had about 50 pages left and I had to pick my Nook back up and decided to finish. It was the best decision I could have made.

So, the end of this comes up with a great solution for Michael and Sam and I loved that Dom was going to suggest it before Sam brings it to the table. I adore Dom and his partner Levi and am so happy everyone has a chance to actually be settled and happy in this book. It was great to get glimpses of Blake and Derek and their bond is still strong.

I was hoping hard that we would get a story for Avery since we met him in book one. We know about losing his partner who he was bonded to and I can’t wait to get an entire story of just him.

The second book in this series features Sam a ghostwalker and Michael a genetic anchor and Guardian. With these two, let’s just say the course of true love doesn’t always run smooth.

Sam has loved Michael for ten long lonely years. At first it may have been a crush, but as Sam has grown older the feelings have deepened into something more. Sam knows Michael feels something for him too but won’t allow himself to act on those feelings. Michael is his boss, a Guardian, and carries all the responsibility for the ghostwalkers at this branch.

Sam’s heart can’t take anymore. He decides to transfer to another branch. Faced with not having Sam in his life, Michael has to make some drastic changes. These two don’t always get it right and communication skills need improving, but they do get there in the end.

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Review:

Rating: 5 stars out of 5

I have been excited to read about Sam and Michael since I read the last book and it didn’t disappoint. Sam has been pining for Michael since they first met ten years ago but Michael finally crosses a line and Sam decides to take the step to separate them. That’s just the step that pushes Michael to actually talk to Sam about his feelings and see that future may be possible for them.

Michael continues to break Sam’s heart every time he denies their connection but it’s just that unfortunate thing to finally push Sam too far and for Michael to open his eyes. Michael needs to take care of Sam and even with good intentions it bleeds into their work life. There is a solution coming but will it be too much of a sacrifice for one of them to make?

We don’t get to see how these two have interacted in the past but seeing them in the previous book helps with that along with seeing both of their points of view. I loved seeing Sam find the support he has always wanted from Michael which gives them both the type of connection they have longed for. Michael has been hesitant and has trouble not being able to take care of Sam in all ways and causes some tension when bringing Sam back to life. I see the next story is going to be about Avery who we got to know in the first story and can’t wait to see him find love again and see a potential for Tyler to be a focus in the future too.

The cover art by Aaron Anderson is great and I love the visual of Sam how it follows the same style as the first book.

“You're never truly lost if someone cares enough to come find you. Lost is waiting to be found.” ~ Barbara Claypole White (Echoes of Family)

In his position of Guardian at Requiem Inc. it's Michael White's, of 'Lost Souls Found' by Kris T. Bethke, job to defend all of his operatives, but he feels particularly protective of Sam Jones. Although his age and status keep Michael from declaring his devotion to Sam, his heart won't let him forget that he's special and it is clouding his judgement. There's a difference between the normal concern Michael feels for all of his employees and the possessiveness Michael feels for Sam. Sam loves his job, but how much longer can Sam hold on to hope?

Sam has been in love with Michael for years; he strongly suspects Michael feels the same way, but he has all but given up on Michael being able to return the feelings that Sam, and practically everyone else, knows Michael has for Sam. Sam knows that Michael treats him differently; he gives him special consideration. Matters become even more strained when Michael limits the type and number of missions Sam can go. Sam is furious! He knows something has to change because he can't go on any longer the way they are. After a particularly dangerous ghost walk, Michael calls Sam to his office meaning to reprimand him, but he is overcome with emotion and takes Sam in his arms and kisses him. Sam is overjoyed thinking that Michael has finally come to his senses. Instead, Michael backs away and repeats the same rhetoric he's been serving Sam for years; that this can't happen again because he's his boss, the Guardian, who has to take care of everyone, therefore, he can't have a special relationship with any one person, not even Sam.

Normally, when upset, Sam would either go to his brother Kevin's house or to his anchor, Dom, for comfort and counsel, but he's so angry, he can't even do that. Sam wallows in self-pity, wondering what to do; he's at the end of his rope. Sam can't continue to work for someone he loves who, it seems, will not put his scruples aside in order to reciprocate. Finally, Sam gets it together enough to call Dom and let him know what happened. Sam tells Dom that he needs to leave, to transfer to another facility and start over and asks Dom and his husband to come with him. Sam never thought he would ever reach the point where he could leave Michael and move on, but when the pain in his heart hurts more than the sword slicing though his chest, he knows he must.

I'm happy that Sam and Michael got their story, but it wasn't how I expected it to be. There is so much angst, so much dancing around each other, that when Michael finally got it together, it felt anticlimactic. Also, to make it work between them, it seemed like Sam was the one making all the changes. For the most part, Michael got to keep things the way they were. This is not a standalone book. It can be read as one, but much of the background information was in the first book and without that knowledge, at best, you will be confused. If you like ghosts, unrequited love, paranormal activities, and happy endings, you may enjoy this book. Thanks, Kris, I look forward to book three.

We met Sam and Michael in the first book in the series and you can't read it as a standalone, or at least, I wouldn't suggest it. While there's background information regarding what ghostwalkers, anchors and guardians do in Lost Souls Found, I think you'll get more enjoyment (and be less confused) out of reading both books in order. It's really an amazing series, so you can thank me later.

Sam has been half in love with his boss, Michael King, for the last ten years and is losing hope that Michael will ever get past his hangups to return his feelings. Enough is enough, though, and Sam is resolved to move on. How will Michael react to the news of Sam putting in his transfer?

I'll be perfectly honest here, I spent the first half of this book wanting to kill Michael dead with his swords, yes, plural, and it was just what he deserved, too. He made up for it in the second half, though. It wasn't that I hated him, just that I was so fed up with his excuses to push Sam away when it was obvious he had feelings for him. I could feel Sam's pain, his hopelessness and I ended up crying more than once because of it. As I said before, Michael made it better and he was all swoon-worthy and possessive and I ended up loving him.

Now, Sam, I absolutely adored. He was so earnest and stubborn, and I loved that even if he was half in love with Michael, he didn't let Michael walk all over him. They were really so good together and had this amazing chemistry, complementing each other so perfectly. It didn't hurt that they were really hot together, their connection shining brightly every moment they were together, be it making love, kissing or just being close to each other.

I loved catching up with Blake and Derek and I'm (im)patiently waiting for Avery's book, and hopefully more Tyler in the future?

Overall, this is definitely my favorite book in the series and my favorite book by this author, so far. She just keeps getting consistently better and better with each new book and I just can't get enough. Highly recommendable!

This book was Soooooo good. I truly enjoyed this read. I have found that I really like the science fiction/paranormal reads tremendously. This book was one of those books that I got into and could not put it down. I am glad that I read this book. Like I said, Soooooo good!!

Sam is a ghostwalker. When he was young and they found out that Sam’s brother Blake was also a ghostwalker, Sam was tested and found to have the same gene. Their parents pretty much turned their backs on them and so Sam and Blake both came to live Requiem Inc. They both trained their and cane to work their. That is how Sam met Michael King.

Michael King is Sam’s boss. He is also Guardian. Being a guardian means that he watches out for his team of ghostwalkers and has to be their for them when he is needed. For this reason, and because he is older then Sam, and because he is Sam’s boss.... Michael has used those excuses to push Sam away.

Sam has been in love with Michael since he can remember but Michael continues to push Sam away. It is getting harder and harder for Sam to be around Michael all the time and not have he feelings returned.

One moment of passionate arguing leads these two men to a passionate kiss. The kiss leads to Michael once again pushing Sam away. In the process of pushing Sam away, he truly pushes Sam to the brink. Sam decides that he needs transfer to a new unit and town in order to finally once and for all to get over Michael.

What will happen between these two once Michael realizes that he might lose Sam once and for all?

This was such an incredible read. I truly could not put this book down. It was one of those books that capture the attention of the reader from the very beginning and keeps your attention to the very end. This is definitely one of those books that I would recommend to others that like science fiction/paranormal reads. I I’ll definitely be reading more by Kris in the future.

This was a different happening in the ghostwalker/anchor relationship for this series and I really enjyoed how it went!

Blake has been half in love with Micheal since he came to work for him, but Micheal keeps Blake at arms length for the sake of 'work'. The barriers break down when in an emergency Micheal has to anchor for Blake, and Blake can no longer take the distance between the two of them. The start of the book is rather angsty. Blake is already mostly in love with Micheal and a nudge kind of breaks things between them. It takes a lot for these two to figure out hings to be together. It was a hard journey that almost didn't happen and nearly has heartbreak in the midst of it from what they go through.

What was surprising was that wasn't it. Yes, Micheal and Blake get together, but that actually wasn't magically the end of their problems. This was no sparkling 'happily ever after' with no look into how their lives would work. Micheal had some legitimate fears in how his being a Guardian would affect their relationship and when it all starts to come true it takes some real compromise from the two of them. This half of the book was even better because there was no longer angst but two people, very much in love, very much figuring out how to fit their lives together. It was a lovely story that married together love and compromise.

Lost souls Found is book two in the series. I do think you should read the other book first so you understand who each character is and the job of Ghostwalker and the dynamics.

Sam is a ghostwalker and dies every day to help lost spirits crossover. he likes to take the difficult cases and it worried the guardian Michael.

Michael and Sam have been skirting around their attraction for ten years. Michael worries that his being a guardian would get in the way and there is an age difference. Sam finally decides to relocate but can Michale let him go?

I love this world Kris T. Bethke has created. It is very interesting and the characters are all intriguing. I loved seeing Michael and Sam's story. My only issue was in this book we didn't get as much of the action in the spirit world and I would have loved seeing more of what Sam was doing there that upset Michael so much.
I cannot wait for the next book.

It’s hard to be a sequel. I know this. I absolutely ADORED book 1 in this series and I had SUPER high hopes for this because Michael (and Sam) seemed like really intriguing characters with awesome powers and a lot of sexual chemistry.

Most of that proved true. However…. I was so frustrated with Michael and his (abuse, neglect) avoidance of Sam that he definitely lost some of his luster. Ditto with Sam and his willingness to bend so much without standing up for himself.

The paranormal stuff wasn’t as captivating as it was in book 1 but it’s still great!

I think you need to have read book 1 to really like this – so I’m not going to call it a standalone – but it might be ok.

If you loved book 1 you’ll really enjoy this.

4.5 stars...This is read out of order and could be read as a standalone book.
A new author for me with this one. Great start as I was drawn in to the story. Poor Sam he's a spirit walker who gets killed everytime he goes on a job. Unrequited love and heartbreak I felt for Sam.
Sexy scenes and telepathic thoughts included. This has a great ending, I wasn't sure they'd get there but they did. Beautifully written for a he's with the story to continue in the next book.

Sam 29 was in love with his Michael 40 but he was also his boss who'd put up a roadblocks in their perspective relationship. Sam could see and communicate with the spirit world and coach them ta crossover.

Love worth fighting for

The second book in the Ghostwalker series is, simply put, beautiful. Full of hurt, hope, anguish, redemption, and LOVE. I couldn’t stop reading until I hit the very last page. Sam and Michael just come off the pages and it’s hard not to laugh, cry and love right along with them. 5 Stars!! Can’t wait for book 3 sometime in January.

Lost Soul found is book 2 of the Requiem inc series.
Sam Jones is a ghostwalker. That means he dies every day, goes to the spirit plane (or afterlife) and helps lost souls to cross into the light, and he comes back to the living plane (us) and needs his anchor to take care of him. It’s his job.

Michael King is an anchor and a guardian. He’s the one in charge of all the operatives (ghostwalkers and anchors), he’s the one who kills and bring back all the operatives.
Sam has been in love with Michael for the last decade, but Michael, as attracted to Sam as he is, refuses to have a relationship with him, he denies his attraction for him, and hides behind their job.

How can they have a relationship while working together with Michael being Sam’s boss? That’s what they’ll have to find out.
After the beautiful Ghost of a Chance I was more than happy to read this second book.
Sam is funny, smart, stubborn and determined to have Michael. He was patient for ten years, until he couldn’t take any more rejection from Michael. I loved Sam. He’s really sweet, smart and nice. He’s funny and stubborn too. I loved how he keeps pursuing Michael because he knew that they were meant to be together.

Michael is hot, powerful, protective and possessives. He’s wanted Sam from the beginning, but he refuses to abuse his authority by being with him. He hides behind this excuse for years until he almost lost Sam, so he maned-up, and confesses his fears and his attraction. I really love him, he is a super-hot, very Alpha type, but at the same time very caring. He loves taking care of Sam, and it’s killing him to have to let Dom (Sam’s anchor) doing this instead of him. I love that he’s confident enough to admit when he was wrong and doesn’t hesitate to beg for forgiveness. No, really, this man is pure perfection (hello new obsession).

This book was different from book 1 and can be read as a standalone. The author did a good job with this book, Sam and Michael are adorable, the plot is only about them and their relationship, it was good and funny sometimes to read how they built their life together.

It’s confirmed the author’s talent and for me to keep following this series.

4 OptimuMMs for the Guardian and his love.

4,5 heart review by PizzyGirl

I enjoyed this story. It was relatively low angst which is perfect for me right now and it hit all the high notes of a satisfying Dreamspun Beyond Romance.

I loved the tension that was so evident between these men. Knowing they had a history was one thing, but I was able to feel that history leap off the page. I could feel the desire and the frustration at being denied, and the longing, and when they finally gave in, WOW I could feel that built up passion. As the story moved on, the emotions and the love between these men was palpable and contributed greatly to me believing they were meant to be together forever. I never once questioned this romance.

I thought this world was very imaginative and loved the idea of helping souls pass on to the light. I loved the different roles involved and how they interacted with the souls and each other. Knowing the inherent qualities of ghostwalkers and anchors and then seeing them manifest inthe characters worked very well for me. And I loved learning how the “mundane” world interacted in both positive and negative ways.

I didn’t know this was the second in a series, but I feel like I didn’t need to. I understood the concepts and roles easily though I am sure I would have gotten more if I had read them in order. I fully intend to go back and read the first in this series. I need Blake’s story.

I recommend this one. It was a great addition to the Dreamspun Beyond line of books. It was an easy and fun read that left me very satisfied and wanting more in this series. I can’t wait for Avery’s book. I am so invested in his outcome.
