Debut Author Ryan Kane brings his first crime book “Curtain Call” to the attention of all Crime Thriller enthusiasts. Follow the twists and turns as this thriller unfolds in to a thrilling ride of who done it and why.
Four years on from moving away from the dangers of New York and Damien is still drifting through life, with a list of ‘to-dos’ that seemed to get longer with each passing day.
With a drunken father and overly dramatic mother, who is always threatening to leave, he often prefers to snatch some sleep on his friend’s couch rather than putting up with them.
When an old friend, Christa, unexpectedly shows up, bereft at the loss of her friend and co-star in the Broadway show they starred in, Damien is astonished but happy to see her. But she is far from the confident young girl he remembered.
Other deaths follow, all of them close to Christa, and Damien becomes suspicious. Is his old friend in danger? Why are people close to her dying inexplicably?
Damien is determined to find out what’s going on, no matter what the personal cost will be. Can he get to the bottom of the mystery surrounding Christa or will he succumb to the Curtain Call?
Boy, did this one take a long time getting anywhere. The writing style didn't help with the pace either. I found myself checking how much further I had to read. Never a good sign. There was a good plot line hidden away in all the verbiage and it was a shame it got lost.
A small town, where Damian runs into the girl he used to look after in NY. Her family moved to the small town, to get off the grid. The girls Father, was doing some bad things.
Damien used to live in New York, but his family moved to a country town when things got too expensive. His mother and father are basically useless drunks, and with a list of convictions for petty crimes it looks like Damian might follow suit. Damien is 20, but is still in school having flunked twice. He seems to be going nowhere, but suddenly he runs into a friend from New York: a friend in need.
This novel is a crime thriller. The plot has mystery and action, but also an interesting interplay of relationships, and a hint of romance. The theme is responsibility. Can Damien measure up to the circumstances? Will he go off like a short-tempered wildfire, and probably blow things, or will he take more temperate action? Friendship is also a secondary theme. We all like to do things ourselves, but friends can really help us when we are in need.
This novel was an enjoyable read, and I am happy to award it 4 stars.
Damien moves away from New York and all that he knows. He runs into an old friend Christa, a childhood Broadway star. He learns that her (Broadway) partner and friend is dead. Christa has changed from the young girl she once was, that is hard enough for Damien to accept. Then he learns more people that new Christa are dying. Damien becomes suspicious and decides to do some investigating of his own.
The story moves at a fast pace, with likable characters, twists, turns and surprising moments. I liked both Damien and Christa, they each have person problems, which to me, made them more "real". Overall I found Curtain Call: A Tense Crime Thriller quite enjoyable and feel those who love a good thriller will enjoy it as well.
Krista was an aspiring young actress when her best leading man Matthew died. Damon was her friend and was paid by her parents to look after her and keep her safe. Years later Damions parents moved leaving Krista alone. I'm a surprising turn of events, Krista and her parents moved in a little town where Damion lives. Damon was shocked to see her looking so frail and skeletal. Turns out that Kristas parents murdered Matthew at the age of 15 and were trying to kill her too! If you want more, please read the book. It's excellent!
Curtain Call is about a young girl, Christa was once a Broadway star. Her male co-star died backstage at the age of 15. The girl, meets back up with the young man Damien, who used to walk her safely, to and from school. This was during the time they both lived in New York city. Christa and her parents move to the same town where Damien lives. Their old lives come back to haunt them.
1 page in is all I could take. A worthless thug at 20 years old, blaming parents, teachers, & social status for his loser life. He is TWENTY for Pete's sake, get off your butt & off your friends' couches & grow up.
First, there were typos, missing words, words in the wrong order. It was actually not a bad story but I didn't find it to be very realistic. These teenagers' behavior, conversation, etc just didn't ring true to me.
What is more valuable than.net¿ This is a very interesting, entertaining, and enjoyable story. Every THING about this story is exceptional! Interested in a GREAT READ THIS IS IT😴
