This is the story of the pioneers. Where they came from; why they came and what their lives were like.

It is the story of their descendents who remember Vernon when it was a small town of just over one thousand. They remember it as the oldest incorporated (1892) city in the Okanagan Valley. They enjoyed Vernon then. They enjoy today as a bustling city approaching twenty-five thousand residents.

In their they have seen the horse and buggy replaced by the railway, the automobile, the airplane and space travel. They have thrilled to the sound of radio and the miracle of television. They have suffered minor recessions and one major economic depression. They have lived through two world wars.

They have seen more changes, in their lifetime, than any other generation. They are survivors. They have happy memories of their early years, They enjoy life today, and anticipate the future.

For those who grew up many years ago, this book is a trip don memory lane, For children and their parents, it is a glimpse into the past - something with which to compare the present - something to give hope fir the future.
