This second book picks up where the first one left off and it does not disappoint. We delve back into the magical world of Keisha, Rogan, Evie, Layla, and our other favorite Rennies. There was drama, and suspense to this story, which I loved so much.

The threat from Cordelia that started off in the first book continued on, as everyone works together to protect Keisha and Evie from her. There was a moment where my heart broke for a character and I cried along with them.

I thought the story was beautifully written and flows easily. I will recommend this story to anyone and everyone.

I give it 5/5 Platypires.

Note: I recieved a copy of the ebook in exchange for a fair review.

In book 2, it is the following summer and the following Ren faire season. Back at Windy Springs, Keisha is embroiled in learning more about the Knowing and what it means to be a part of a community where that is rife.

The book had good tension, again pulling me through the narrative with little resistance. There is strong drama, and the characters are very sharply depicted.

Readers of book 1 will be pleased to find that the supernatural world of the Knowing is central and the reader, through Keisha, finds out more about what that means.

Book 2s are hard, so maybe a 4* here is like a 5* book 1. I'd rate it higher if one thing had not tweaked me a bit. Mostly, Keisha gets left in the dark about many important things until it is too late, and that gets a little stale if only through repetition.

We rejoin Keisha, Rogan and the rest of the weird and wondrous characters for second season at the Windy Springs Renaissance Festival.

It’s a trying time for everyone, especially for Keisha as she struggles to combine taking care of her young daughter, Evie, alongside helping Layla, the threat from Captain Dash’s sister, Cordelia, and her new-found ‘knowing’.

It’s another wonderfully written book, with plenty of twists to keep me interested, with a cast of multi-dimensional characters, each with their own eccentricities, fears and flaws.

I hope the next book isn’t far from being ready 🙂

As the series continues we learn more about The Knowing and what it is. There are many surprises in store and lots of information. While these two and their love grows stronger doubt and old haunts start plaguing her as she deals with her own issues with being a parent and some unknown things as well. The story is well written and this author is slowly getting under my skin. She gives you just enough to want more and that's what a good author does, keep you invested in the outcome of her characters. There's enough going on that you still want to know more and continue with the series. No it isn't a standalone and yes it's most definitely worth a read.

First of all, I am wondering whether there will be another in this series because I really like it. Modern day with a magical twist. Book 2 was a great read! As usual, Rogan is like the every day hero that can be overlooked for one reason or another but he is Keisha's rock and is there for her no matter what. But he fears that his past will drive her away. Keisha herself is a strong character and things are changing rapidly for her in this book. And among all that change is the element of danger and the unknown. It gives the book even more of a twist. Dash is an eccentric, but lovable, character I would love to know more about. Jack is also another great one. I love not only the main characters, but the lessers as well. They round the story out well!

I love this story!!

When Knowing Comes is Book two in the Secrets of Windy Springs Series. Somehow I missed book one but was able to read this and understand everything that was going on even though I did not (yet!) read book 1. The author did a great job of getting the reader caught up throughout the story without re-hashing the entire first book.

These are very unique characters. And each was well developed with distinct personalities.

The story has ups and downs and keeps the reader guessing as to what is being hinted at throughout the book. I loved how these hints were sprinkled in!

The story brought me into the characters world and every time I picked the book back up, I was instantly transported there.

I definitely want to go back and read book 1 now and I am also looking forward to the next book in this series!

So, we're headed back to the Ren Faire in Windy Springs. There's a lot of things that are different from last year at this time. Keisha's no longer on the run or pregnant. Now she's got a beautiful little girl and is in a very happy marriage. But, it's Ren Faire time again, and the wicked witch of the woods, Cordelia, is still around, and may be getting worse.

There are a lot of big changes going on in this one, as well as some serious sadness. We're not dealing with a slow burn here, because they are already in love, but we get to see Keisha and Rogan's relationship getting deeper and stronger and weathering a whole lot of storms. I really liked that. We also get to learn more about Rogan and Dash. I like Dash. He's a little bit kooky, but he's loyal and feels a huge responsibility for all his rennies.

In the second installment of the Secrets of Windy Springs series, Valarie Savage Kinney exceeds our expectations and weaves a compelling story that goes beyond the world of magic and touches real life and raw emotion. This book leaves us understanding that life is not clean and simple and instead is messy and hard. Savage Kinney does a superb job at further developing the characters so we begin to feel at home. This second book is a must read after In the Presence of Knowing (Secrets of Windy Springs Book 1) .

I really love the setting of this story. It makes my heart happy. I mean, who doesn’t love a good ren-faire? Everyone getting together to play dress up and be nerdy together. It’s so fun to escape the present and go back to a simpler time. I myself have been to many and have a dress (which I purchases at a ren-faire in Michigan when we lived there) that I wear to them. I try to go every year but we haven’t been to one in a couple.

I love how all the characters, while playing a part, are not really playing a part if that makes sense. Like hiding in plain sight I guess. Not all of the faire folk have powers, but the ones that do have unusual and almost barely described powers. It’s like the author decided to give us just a hint of what powers they are capable of and allowed our imaginations to run wild trying to figure out what the rest could be. I have read other stories that do this and I really like them because I feel like its more interactive for the reader. I don’t know if I’m explaining that very well but its all I can say.

Another aspect of their ‘knowing’ that I thought was an excellent twist was that the power was a dual edged sword in that while some of the ‘knowing’ people has addictive personalities and dealt with some mental illness. It gave the background a deeper layer than they just had powers ya know?

Anyway, this book was awesome and you should go read it.

Great Storyline! After I finished reading it - at 2:30 this morning - I had to look at the cover again, which became even more magical. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series!

Keisha and Rogan are happy. They are married, have baby Eve, and things are looking up. Baby Eve is a sickly baby, but nothing they can't handle together. When they return to the fair, bad things are happening. Cordelia is sick and has dememtia, which is making her more volatile. Can the rennies survive her wrath?
