About 72 pages or so into reading Forbidden I knew by the way the sexual scene of Jude Ford taking the virginity of his TA and Student Veronica that R R Banks was a male. It was quick harsh and unromantic!! I checked to be sure that he was in fact a Male Romance Writer. I have never read any of his books before and for me this one comes up a bit short. Too take a young ladies virginity on a desk is NOT ROMANTIC!! They had a lot of sex before they even made it to a bed. Jude treated Veronica/Ronnie like she was noting, dirt under his feet. I like Veronica and her best friend Javi. I also, like Michael the long lost son of Jude and the relationship they forged together and I liked the end when Jude finally tells Ronnie he loved her. But this is No Romance story. Its a story of a horny old man who is suppose to be a billionaire who happens to be a professor. Other then have a big house and servants he doesn't seem to be a billionaire and he certainty does treat Ronnie like he is one. They Have No Private Plane rides or Exotic Vacations. Not even a expensive dinner at a top restaurant. Nothing to show off him being a billionaire. Not even one piece of jewelry!! Mr. Banks needs to study more about females and how real billionaires act!! Veronica was young and naïve but she acted more mature then Jude who is twice her age. I just wished she had more confidence and had dumped this jerk!!

I received an ARC from Booksprout in exchange for an honest review. This book is FULL of twists and shocking turns, scenes that run the full emotional spectrum, and characters that you wont soon forget. As usual, R.R. Banks handles a few sensitive themes that I wont divulge (it would ruin the story if I did) with special care and grace. His signature humour is infused throughout and there were parts where I was actually giggling out loud. That being said, its not a comedic story, but rather a pretty serious one.

I found Jude's character to be a little too cold to fully connect with. He had reason to be shut off, definitely, but, to me, he just seemed unfair and unfeeling.
Veronica's character was young but mature. She handled most situations well, but she did make some questionable choices.
It was a well written book, as always, but the scene that led to Veronica's pregnancy felt, to me, like an illustration of an unforeseen sense of entitlement in Jude. That scene, and much of Judes cold, perhaps, aloofness, is the reason for my four star review. Overall, I DID enjoy the book, and I would recommend it.

Be ready for "Forbidden" to tear at every emotional string you have. Jude and Veronica have both experienced immense pain in their pasts. Each has built their own cocoon of protection to "hide within" from their suffering, from the world, from themselves? Their strength of character draws you in and compels you along to experience this journey. Each struggles in their own way toward an awakening or to remain status quo. At least Veronica has her best friend, Javi, for support and as a sounding board. (Everyone should have a "Javi" in their life!). Jude has no one. He is alone in the world, in his misery, in his head, in his misery. This only engulfs the reader more in his character - wanting to be his sounding board, his friend to slap some sense into him or lend an ear. Are these two merely tearing each other more apart or can they help each other heal? Truly a powerful, heart-rending story. I couldn't put it down! Amazing.

Half Life
Talk about ripping your heart out. I found this hard to continue reading, not because I was bored or that the ability of the author was in question, but I felt utterly bereft for the characters. You realise early on something heart wrenching happened to both Jude and Veronica. How either of them were able to function, is beyond me. You will understand and empathise with them as Jude and Veronica torturously open their shattered hearts to speak of the horrors that shape who they are. I felt that for me personally, too much of the story kept us in this miserable state. I never considered leaving the book unread, but their unhappiness deeply affected me. I couldn’t wait to see some light “at the end of the tunnel”. Fortunately they get their HEA.

R.R. Banks is one of my go-to authors whenever I want a really good deep story. Forbidden is no different. This story brought tears to my eyes and hurt my heart.
Forbidden is about Jude and Veronica a professor and student that takes you through their story now and then with their past.
Jude has a really ruff history with his past and not being able to get over it. He is a colder character when it comes to his woman so that was different.
Veronica is innocent that is the best way to describe her. And I mean that in the best and worse way. She is innocent in everything she does. But while this story progresses she does grow (thank god) and gets stronger, but she has to, to be able to deal with someone like Jude.
Altogether this is another pretty good book by R.R. that I enjoyed. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.

In R.R. Banks newest novel a mixture of the older man ( Jude ) obsessing over the younger women ( Veronica ), professor and student, and tragedy-filled souls lost in the midst of everyday life.
When Veronica becomes Jude's TA, their lives will intertwine on on more than a professional level!
Sexual tensions on high, hearts opening yet plagued by anger produced by fear, these two broken souls have a lot in common yet are worlds apart.
Can Jude and Veronica take their rollercoaster, whirlwind relationship to the next level by breaking down their walls?
A whirlwind, emotional tug of war this one is! Not going to lie, I did not like either of these characters much through most of the book. << Whistles while looking away, waiting for the lynch mob>> But I loved the storyline with its twists and heartfelt monumental moments, it kept me reading the book, and along the way, I found myself understanding the characters plights more and why they had the personalities that they did. Which in turn made me feel differently about them.
So while I may have had an issue with the back and forth and maturity levels of the characters the story as a whole was a heart-tugging, sexy beast of emotional romance madness, I ended up enjoying and even changing my mind about some fictional beings! That is winning in my world!
Another thoughtful, well written unique read from Mr. Banks!
I suggest picking up this one for yourself and giving it a try!

Once you read his books, you won't be able to stop.
This was so damn good! That's the only way I wish to express it. This author has the ability to write deep character profiles and plots some very different scenarios. I love his determination not only to write about passion but more about the journey that love will take you on. The male characters are fearless and devoted, which as a woman I sincerely appreciate. Mr. Banks, you have gained a fan. ☺😊

Wtf was this? I don’t think I’ve quit a story so fast or started skimming the never ending bleh. Two chapters. Actually I don’t even think they were chapters rather povs, but each one was like monotonous monologue. Maybe the story actually starts eventually, maybe the formatting which was also fucked fixes itself or isn’t so annoying. I guess I will never know.

What can I say about this book? It's emotionally charged, at times it's heartbreaking, and yet there is still a thread of humour....
The characters are all strongly described, Jude and Veronica, the main characters, especially so. Both have darkness in their past, both blame themselves for events they could never have anticipated, let alone have prevented.
The attraction between them lights up the story, but past events weigh heavily and begin to sour things.
Veronica wants more, Jude can't promise more, and so they part.
Is it really the end for them? Or will they against all odds reach a HEA?
The story ARC is believable and well paced, and there are lighter moments....mainly courtesy of Javi, Veronica's best friend and room mate. He is a wonderful character...and every girl deserves a best friend of this calibre.

This is a tender love story about two damaged souls. Veronica is a dance student at the University and Jude is a professor/millionaire who hires Veronica as a teaching assistant. Both of them have tremendous tragedies in their lives that had shaped them into the people we meet. They share intense sexual attraction and the author is incredible at describing it and drawing us into the raw emotion. There were times I hated Jude and times I wanted to slap Veronica into standing up for herself. Each of them has to tear open the barriers that keep them from love. There are so many twists and unexpected turns in the story. I can't give away any more, just read it. You will cry tears of happiness at the end. Author Banks delivers another romance book to die for. I received an ARC copy for my honest review and was happy to give my review. Discover the magic of this wonderful romance author.

It's been a day since I have finished reading Forbidden but I couldn't find the strength to write down my thoughts yet. They were awfully tangled. The last few months R.R. Banks has come long-way from the stories I had first been introduced from and reading Forbidden proved me right; yet this time I felt like I swam in trembling waters with this turn of his.
But let's take it from the beginning. College student, Veronica Parrish is finally in her senior year and close to make her dream come true. She wants to work as a dancer so this year Veronica has to practice hard to prove herself capable of working with a company who might take an interest in her talent. However, she needed to find a job to earn her living and the TA position was the most suitable option.
Alumni Professor, Jude Ford grabbed the chance to have Veronica closed to him by proposing her to be his TA. Twice her age, Jude couldn't understand completely the pull Veronica had on him but soon an affair started to bloom. Their connection has been strong whereas they both have a past which they still couldn't get away from. The drama, the angst and the secrets between them, that Veronica had started to want more and that Jude send wrong signals at her, led their relationship to a dead end. If they wanted to have a second chance then they had to choose to confront their past and ...future.
To be honest, the moment I had reached the middle of the story I really started to enjoying it. At the beginning, I was intrigued about the affair between a professor and his former student. However, it was obvious that the story had something deeper to give than what met the eye. While impressed by the author's change of writing style I couldn't put my head around the storyline but mostly around its heroes. I had a hard time to understand them completely till before the ending and it was because they weren't spoken openly most of the times. Nevertheless, it was heartwarming seeing how the author dealt with a sensitive manner the story behind the storyline.
Instead, I loved the plot! I love how it had started, how it had been unfolded and mostly how it was ended. The author does a great job of bonding these two different characters together. The way he narratives the story, revealing the heroes personal life stories with bits and pieces throughout the storyline, putting them into a rollercoaster of mixed emotions, almost mind-games, and using his well-known dose of humour when it needed, gave the promise of reading something interesting and unique. And it was what hooked me the most. Forbidden reveals an other side of R.R. Bank's talent and I'm keen on seeing it unfolding more soon. He became one of these authors that I'm proud of for working hard and rising their writing talents to upper levels.
I hope I intrigued your imagination a little and make you grab the book, finding out what's really happening because there is no way to tell you myself. Until next time, enjoy your free time reading great books with the most unforgettable stories.

Secrets Shared may Help To heal
First of all I'd like to say how much Javi, Veronica the heroine's best friend forever, is integral to this story and he is just such a wonderful person yo have around. Everyone has secrets, but some people have more than others and they keep them even from their closest friends to keep the pain hidden within themselves. This book is about two lonely people Veronica and Jude. He was her professor for one of her classes whilst at college and she made an important impression upon him as did he to her. She never took any more of his classes as she couldn't concentrate in lectures because she could only think of everything about him. But he wants to know her more and is just biding his time. He's at least twice her age but absolutely gorgeous and a bit of a mystery man around campus and very wealthy in that he doesn't need to work but he does. He arouses suspicion amongst some of his colleagues when he gets Veronica to be his TA [Teaching Assistant] which he has never had before, but is using this as a ruse to get to know her better. This is an emotional whirlpool with great passion, love and heartbreak. I don't think Jude or the readers will forget the scene where Veronica calls to see Jude before celebrating Halloween with Javi and his friends as that was one HOT and steamy encounters that proves to Jude that veronica is more than a one night stand and this scares him in come ways. Veronica [Ronnie to everyone else but Jude] has one tragic secret that only after they become intimate and then break up because of his emotional scars when she tries to help him, that she reveals to Jude about how she got a scar on her leg which he noticed when he very first saw her. This is after he reveals a truth about his past 19 years ago and the tragic circumstances that lead to his wife's demise. The passion and love, that he refuses to acknowledge because he is scared, are so intense in this quite beautiful story by R.R. Banks. In my humble opinion, this is his best story yet as it is about love and the many types of love you can have and how people can overcome and survive personal tragedies. I love this story and will most assuredly be re-reading this again as it is so well written. I received a free reader's copy of this and voluntarily leave my honest opinion here.

This book was hot and one-click and you are in book-orgasm. Jude Ford is so freaking SEXY and HOT!! Pure pleasure. Dirty. Decant—sums up Jude and Veronica’s relationship quite succinctly. This is the ultimate dark taboo of professor/student or older man/younger woman forbidden love story. Sordid but once you become a part of their lives, the unpleasantness falls away. Although taboo, this was a beautiful love story that was so well done; it held my attention and was entertaining, but also was heartwarming and emotional. R.R. Banks presents one of the most unseemly potential love stories, and slowly takes you through so many heart wrenching emotions. From the very first page I was spellbound by these fantastically described characters that you will find yourself falling in love with them—or not. I was enthralled with the characters of Veronica (Ronnie) Parish and Professor Jude Ford and the banter between the two. You’ll find yourselves rooting for them, but you may be in denial for a good part of it and just couldn’t imagine feeling for these characters. Despite some of the unsavory elements, I could not stop reading this book and it will keep you glued to the pages to find out what happens next. Veronica is curious about Jude but has been too concentrated on her studies to think about anything else. They connected that night when he calmed her down so much that he wanted to help her when he learned she was looking for a paid TA job. Contacting her to meet with him he offered her a paid job as his assistant and she accepted. It wasn't long before they both gave into temptation but it seemed like Jude wanted Veronica only on his terms. They never went to his place so when Veronica tricked his staff into letting her in she got the shock of her life when Jude came home and went off on her for being there. I love to read R.R. Banks,,,,, there is never a dull moment,,,
This book is about Veronica "Ronnie" to her friends, she is in her last year of college,,,, she lives with her best friend, Javi, a gay Latino man, a free spirited, young man, who is always up for anything,,, if there's a party, Javi knows about it or is involved in it,,,,, but he is there for Ronnie,,,, when Ronnie's grandma died, Javi was there,,,, Javi knew about the tragedy in her family and why she has her scar,,,, one of the very first classes Veronica had was with this handsome professor, she was late for her first day of class, and walked in back trying to look for a seat, ended up catching the stare of this professor as she had to sit in the first row center,,,, and that's where she stayed,,, and later became hius T.A.....
His name is Professor Jude Ford... he is pretty much of loner, at the campus and in his personal life,,, He is actually a wealthy man, but he works at the college for his own reasons ,,, he was married once to a woman named Ellery, but she died, its been 19 years and he still hasnt moved on,,,, until now,,, He watched her walk into his class awhile ago, and hasn't let her go since,,, he would love to be normal and have a relationship,,,, he knows how he can get her closer,,,, he can make here his new T.A.,,,, yeah, nothing can go wrong there,,,,

Emotionally intense.
This book was quite a surprise and refreshing .Emotional,sexy.
The plot was well thought out,another hit for a very good read.
The characters had their emotional ordeal .Jude a very hot and attractive older gentleman, who has his cross to hear due to his past.
Veronica,a student with her sets of trouble. Once they meet the attraction is on fire. Those two will have to leave their past trauma behind in order to move forward in what will be a rollercoaster of emotions,drama and suspense.
This book although a bit sad will make you ponder. The bonding,the excitement and how love and hard work can concur all of one is willing to work it out thought past ordeals.
Banks book will affect you in all sorts of ways, and let's not forget his well known humor. This read is quite different and unique with everything one can ask for.
Again and again R.R never sees to amaze me in how adept he manipulates his characters to perform precisely how he wants them to be. Extraordinary is the word!
This was read in small sips, the emotions,sadness and love!

Okay let me say that I LOVE this authors books, the writing style has always just pulled me into the lives
of his characters but OMG this book just absolutely shattered me.

What an intense, detailed read from R. R. Banks! He continues to surprise his readers/fans with new, fresh views. Forbidden is an emotional twist on the older man/virgin trope. Veronica is a dance major who needs a job to cover expenses her senior year. Jude is a literature professor who has historically lacked a teaching assistant, but wants Veronica. Not because he loves her, but because of an intense physical attraction. Ronnie feels it too and has stayed away from Jude since she was his student. But, the road to perdition is paved with good intentions...
This is the story of two deeply wounded people who are afraid to feel. Jude takes it to the extreme by preserving portions of his home as a literal shrine to his dead family. Ronnie is emotionally stunted also and refuses to step inside her own home, preferring to live in an apartment with her best friend, Javi, who is the realist and voice of reason. Although Jude and Veronica embark on a torrid affair, it is secret and hidden, just like their emotions are secret and hidden, even from one another. Both are stubborn and willful, to the point of missing out on life. Ultimately, secrets are uncovered and eyes as well as hearts are finally opened.

i read this book as part of an arc program. I enjoyed this story about a college professor who has suffered unimaginable loss and his journey to finding love again with a former student. Jude was a man who seemed to have everything, a great career, good looks and more money than he needed. He was also a loner and didn't think he could ever open up to someone. When Veronica decides to look for work as a TA in her final year of college, Jude overhears her inquiry and decides to offer her a job as his TA. Veronica is majoring in dance and when she learns the TA positions are not paid, she thinks she will have to look elsewhere until Jude offers to pay her himself. Veronica is attracted to Jude but thinks it will never lead to anything. Veronica is still a virgin and she has no interest in a relationship, she has secrets of her own past that left her unable to trust and open to people. Jude thinks he can seduce Veronica and then move on, only it is harder than he thought to move on. They have an emotional relationship where both are unable to really open up to each other and their past secrets may tear them apart. This was a good story. At times I wanted to hate Jude and then I felt sorry for him. Veronica was trying to be patient with Jude, but has to decide if he is doing her more harm. Good one.

Okay first off, thanks so much for ruining Macarena for me, much appreciated :) ... but apart from that I don't have a negative word to say about this book. Javi on his own is hilarious, Javi and Ronnie together - pure magic. Their back and forth and Javi's habit of making up lyrics as he goes along had me in stitches. Don't be fooled by that though, this book has an emotional punch to it that will leave you with a hollow feeling in your stomach. Initially the author does an amazing job of getting you hooked using the mystery of what happened to both Jude and Veronica, although you do get hints nothing will prepare you for the full story that gets revealed just after halfway through the book. When Jude and Veronica opened up to each other I almost cried. I honestly don't know who Jude was trying to fool with his insistence that his attraction to Veronica was purely physical and there was no emotion involved whatsoever. It make me wonder exactly how long it would be before he pulled his head out his @#$! and realised just how important she was to him, or if he ever would before he lost her forever.

Wow what a Fantastic book by R. R. Banks Forbidden is an emotionally dramatic story with some definite heat. A very well written story That just kept you engaged through out the whole book. Kept you wanting to see what was waiting on the next page. The characters were strong and quite intriguing they both had some heartbreaking experiences from their past that made them perfect for one another. Professor Ford has been feeling a bit stagnant about his teaching, not really being excited about his students anymore until she walks into his class. She tugs at him in a way he thought

Veronica can't believe the pull towards her professor, she is distracted by her feelings during the semester so she decides it would be better not to take another of his classes. But soon their paths cross and things get really interesting between these two, you can just feel the heat coming off the pages. I highly recommend this great book it is a must read. This is a story of two damaged souls who come together and slowly heal each other. Veronica is a college student who lives a very structured life. She dances, goes to classes and lives with her roommate Javi. Let me just say, everyone needs a friend like Javi in their lives. Someone to love you, challenge you and always tell you the truth. Veronica decides to work as a TA for Jude, who she has had a crush on for years. Jude also feels the draw towards Veronica and decides to act upon it. There are half truths, and broken hearts that cause damage to their relationship. Will Jude come to his senses or risk loosing Veronica forever? I felt a full range of emotions reading this story. I laughed at Javim and His antics, cried for the loses Veronica and Jude experience,d, and cheered for Veronica as she gained her confidence. I highly recommend this book.

The characters are broken and they come together in an unexpected way. "Ronnie" is an innocent in many ways and that calls to Professor Jude Ford, aka "Batman". He wants her but keeps his distance...until an opportunity presents itself and he hires her as his TA.
The story starts a little slow but then all the sudden it speeds up and takes the reader on a roller coaster ride not soon forgotten. Be prepared to laugh, sigh and possibly shed a tear or two. This is an emotional story you will not soon forget. This one is a keeper.

What a beautiful story about two people totally different in personalities. Veronica is a young woman in her last year of college. She keeps to herself although her BFF is Ravi who tries his best to get her out of her shell. One year she had a class with Professor Jude and he made a lasting impression on her, at least on her side sparks flew. She decided to avoid his class so as to avoid the attraction she had for him. But one evening due to a bad misplaced prank, she is swept back into his aura. Jude has wondered about the young woman who was in his class a few years back. Seeing her again, brings back his unwanted attraction to her. In a moment of spontenaity, he hires her on as a TA. This time will ultimately change both their lives.

Emotional Journey
There were so many challenges that should have kept Jude and Veronica from getting their HEA. Haunted by their pasts as well as the present with a risky relationship that started between a professor and his teaching assistant, their sometimes painful and heart wrenching journey to find themselves was emotionally charged. Each of them had tried to bury their pasts but as they grew closer, it was imperative to acknowledge the past and forgive what had happened in order for them to move forward together. There is humor, sadness, hope and steamy encounters in this book.
R.R. Banks has the right formula for taking characters traumatized by their past , peeling away their layers to make them vulnerable yet able to eventually trust each other. They essentially heal each other as they develop a bond of passion, love and trust together. Great book!

This book was a pleasant surprise! I chose it because it fit a challenge this month, Taboo- Professor/Student, Age difference of New Adult and older man. Having not read a RR Banks book before I assumed I was in for a dull cliche piece of mind numbing fantasy sex. What I got was an emotional roller coaster. Veronica and Jude are both so damaged in their own ways that they are able to come together to heal each other. The character development is spot on and I felt invested in their lives. The chemistry and sex between them was so good. Due to the fact that the story takes place over the span of an entire school year we get a lot of monthly recaps and glossing over of details for whole spans of time that I wish we, as readers, had the opportunity to experience, but I understand why it was done.

Excellent! Bonus Books Included, Too!
My first R.R. Banks book and after reading it, I'm thrilled to see that there are a few bonus books included so I can read more of him right now!
I've been reading a lot of male authors in this genre lately and I noticed some things about Banks that set him apart, at least in "Forbidden:"
The man actually has an excellent command of the English language, it's grammar, usage, and even the quirky nuances.
He can tell a good story, knowing when to elaborate, when to leave bread crumbs, and how to take the narrative off an expected path.
He also knows when NOT to do these things.
Plus he's able to keep the novel on course without sacrificing the development of any important character or sub-plot.
I am impressed, Mr. Banks. You are very good. Either that or you have a kick-a$$ editor! ;) (Maybe it's both.)
