Langbourne's Evolution

Rate this book

It is 1898 in Bulawayo, Rhodesia, and the Langbourne brothers’ business is maturing, and so are the boys.

Morris decides the time is right for them to expand the business into Europe and he leaves his younger siblings to grow the African operation while he returns to his homeland in Ireland.

Two younger brothers join the company and the family work long and hard days. Business thrives, and they begin to see rewards. For the first time, a romance develops, and international plans are set in motion.

But, Africa works in her mysterious ways; good plans are always put to the test, and this is no exception for the Langbourne brothers.

Based on a true story.

Adventures galore hits the Langbourne brothers, failure is definitely not an option.
.
The brothers set out to expand further their business ideas, all of which favourably materialize. It's quite outstanding what these lads are capable of.
.
This is book 4 in a series of 6. Glad to see that the author writes a back story for someone like me who needs to jog their memory.
.
Langbourne's Evolution goes to a few places, Dublin where the brothers originate from, England - London. Africa, Bulawayo and Mafeking. All set in the late 1800, based on a true story.
.
I was particularly fascinated in .....

🚵‍♂️ the "Resurrection Plant".... it is a plant, not a building.
🚵‍♂️ Bicycles were introduced to Africa, thanks to the Langbourne Bros

.
and the quote of all time?

Quote
"Near-near" means anything between now and approximately three days time"
.

Too bad if you are impatient. 🤣

Recommending .... This series is so entertaining, you learn alot about the African culture, the people, the surroundings, the spirit of the place. Where are my Historical Fiction lovers? Because this one you will have to add to your list.

Thank you to the author, Alan P Landau for writing such an inspiring story.

I won the whole set of books in a giveaway a couple of years ago.

Another excellent one!

Anyone born in Rhodesia, in fact anyone interested in the history of Southern Africa will love Alan’s books. Prepare to be homesick though! Alan describes so vividly Africa, the people, the animals and plant life we all grew up with. I personally wish I had asked my parents more about their experiences in Johannesburg, Mafeking and Bulawayo in the late 1800’s. PE, East London, all places we love - fascinating references in Alan’s books. Can’t wait for the next one Alan!
