New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, Susan Stoker has a heart as big as the state of Tennessee where she lives, but this all American girl has also spent the last fourteen years living in Missouri, California, Colorado, Indiana, and Tennessee. She's married to a retired Army man who now gets to follow her around the country.
Yes, it's short, even for a novella. But it's free, so I got it as an intro to Stoker's writing. I haven't read anything else by her, so this was the perfect free intro. Liked the writing, the characters (especially the ages...H is early 50 something and h is late 30:-/early 40s), and the sexy scenes. Did its job making me want to read more by this prolific author.
Know other readers score stuff lower if it's short(er), but that's exactly what this was supposed to be, so since it's strong for what it is, I gave it a goodreads 4.
If a story is sold as a novella with 122 pages I expect a novella with at least 118 pages of story. From the blurb you expect it too. It sounded interesting. But whoever wrote the blurb hasn't read the novelette (it's way, way too short for a novella) or has earned an award in marketing, as all what the blurb and the story have in common are the character's names. To make it short, there's some set up at a bar and then it's sex....sex doesn't make a story...just one long scene of sex...nothing more. I feel cheated. I've read some books by Susan Stoker and know she can write, but this was a joke at best.
Lambert's Lady ends on page 43!!! The rest is a sample for another book! 1 star is too much for this marketing scheme, and it's nothing more than that!

REVIEW: LAMBERT’S LADY by Susan Stoker is the thirteenth and final instalment in the multi-authored, contemporary, adult SLEEPER SEALs erotic, military suspense series focusing on a group of current and former Navy SEALS. This is fifty year old, retired US Navy Commander and Ghost Ops leader Greg Lambert, and bartender Sheridan Temple’s story line. LAMBERT’S LADY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Greg and Sheridan) LAMBERT’S LADY follows the quick building relationship between fifty year old, retired US Navy Commander and Ghost Ops leader Greg Lambert, and bartender Sheridan Temple. Greg Lambert’s job is done now that the twelfth and final SEAL reported in from the final mission, and our hero struggles with the loneliness brought about by the death of his beloved wife, five years earlier. Greg Lambert finds himself fantasizing about bartender Sheridan Temple, a much younger woman but a woman that calls to his heart. What ensues is the very quick friends to lovers to happily ever after between Greg and Sheridan.
LAMBERT’S LADY is approximately three chapters in length that focuses on the highly sexual relationship between our leading couple. We know very little about our heroine’s past as the author focuses on Greg Lambert’s love for his wife Karen, and his need for the woman at the local bar. The premise is provocative; the romance is intimate and passionate; the characters are colorful and sassy.
The Sleeper Seals Series is an incredible collaboration. The nuances of each and every book brings it together as a whole. It is wonderful to see the Commander happy and free of all obligations. With all that he has done to keep everyone and his team safe, it is great that he can finally take time for him. To live life instead of just existing. Great read, and a wonderful HEA!🌺
Retired Navy Commander Greg Lambert, is a man we got to know little by little in the books before this one, not enough, but for me that was enough. So I was thrilled he had his own story now and that he found someone to love. The on;y thing that made me sad was that the story was not long enough, even though I sometimes love short stories, somehow I wanted this one to be longer. So despite his loss and despite the hard job he had and the decisions he had to make it was nice to see him find her and to find the happiness he deserved.
Retired Navy Commander Greg Lambert, the head of a ghost-ops project created to combat terrorists on American soil, longs to settle down after his men complete twelve successful missions.
He sets his eyes on Sheridan, the bartender at the bar he frequents. Sheridan, of course, was the only woman who has managed to catch his heart years after his wife passed away from cancer.
I am glad that Susan Stoker closed out the Sleeper Seals series with a HEA for Lambert, who definitely deserved for his own story to be told. Susan Stoker gave her characters a worthy performance, as usual, and that's reason enough for me to never get tired of her military stories.
If you are a fan of stories about men in uniform, I would encourage you to go ahead and dive into this author's world. I swear you won't regret it!
Lambert’s Lady is by Susan Stoker. This is book 13 of the Sleeper SEALs series. Commander Greg Lambert was working on a series of top secret ops for the government. As he finished each op successfully, he would stop by a bar and have a drink before going home to his house, empty since Karen had died and he was now alone. After a few months of talking to the bartender, Sheridan Temple, he started walking her home. He enjoyed talking to her. Finally, she made the first move and kissed him. Then, she told him she wanted more; she wanted a true relationship. Then she told him to think about it and she went inside her apartment. He thought about it and a month later when all his ops were finished and he had completed what he had signed on for, he finally returned to the bar. Was Sheridan still there and did she still want him or was he too late?
This is a short story ending the Sleeper seals series. Greg Lambert, the man who’s been a central figure in all the books got his story. A widowed man and former Seal he has done a lot of thing in life and just want to find a women to love. Although he thought he wanted to alone for the rest of his life. But he meets a women who works as a bartender. Love creeps slowly on them.
WOW! What a short and sweet story. Greg finally finishes his stint with the CIA. He has been going to the same bar that Sheridan works at and he becomes to know her as does she do it is inevitable that these two fall in love. The major excitement was a punk trying to rob them but Greg takes care of the problem. I am so happy Greg has found his happily ever after with Sheridan. FANTASTIC job Susan! I would recommend this short story!
One of the things I love most about Susan Stokers writing is that she does not do ageism... her characters are all mature, they have seen the world and been a part of it, and often they are a little grey around the temples, and seen far more of life than the normal romance novels allow. I adore that about her, she shows over and over that age is just a number and sexy times can never be restricted by that. LOVE IT!
Loved getting to know Greg lambert who headed up the ghost op division that originally started with protecting Dakota and slade/cutter. Short novella story but filled with steam and minimal action. Just a brief overview of his loss and How he has grown since becoming a widower and completed his last sleeper SEAL mission. Liked Sheridan and her take no prisoners attitude.
I realize this is a short story, but there is basically no plot. I was hoping for at least a little...something! Of the 122 pages, mayyybe 20 pages were the story, and the rest were previews or notes from the author. Definitely doesn't make me want to read more of this series, which is disappointing since it seems to feature some good authors.
Lamberts Lady: Fantastic story! Loved how after the 12 man had done his duty and found love. That Greg discided it was his turn to follow through on what Sheridan had asked him a month ago. It was very hot romance! I loved how it was written. Could not put it down it was so good.
I was disappointed, I thought this would be a full story about the commander. It was more of a short that would have been better at one of the other books. If you hadn't started the series it may have been good, but when you had already read them all, well....
After reading protecting Dakota, I couldn't help but find out about Lambert and his happily ever after. Now that I have and wish it was longer!!! I am going and reading the rest in this series. Once again whether the story is short or long I will always read it because it's wrote by Susan!! 💙
This is a cute little wrap up story for the commander of the Sleeper SEALS. It's his turn to get his hea and he's got his girl in mind and just needed to claim her.
Cute, sweet, just a hint of sexy protectiveness, steamy. And proof that being 50 (H) and in your late 30s (h) doesn't mean you can't have all sorts of good swoony stuff.
The Sleeper SEAL series ends with Commander Lambert’s story. He never thought that he’d find love again after his beloved wife’s death, but when he meets bartender Sheridan, that’s what happens. After twelve successful missions and matches, the commander is satisfied in jobs well done and the happiness his men have found. Now it’s his turn.
When it comes to second chances, I'm glad Commander Lambert got his. Especially after retiring and then his beloved wife dying. Each story had its own situation to work through. But in the end one way or the other each soldier found a little love and peace in their lives. And that alone is a second chance at living again.
Greg and Sheridan make the cutest couple. I haven't had a chance to read all of the preceding stories, but this little short has got me very interested.
Great little story..sexy couple. I on!y wish their story was longer with a little more meat to it, but I'll take it.
Retired Navy Commander Greg Lambert took on a top-secret assignment at the request of the government, heading a Ghost Ops project to combat terrorists on American soil. This is a team of twelve former U.S. Navy SEALS that find their own happily ever-afters. Now that the job is over Greg decides that now is the time for him to claim his second chance at love.
Pretty good read for a short (and I mean short) story. The last of a series I haven't read. So it was pretty much a boy meet girl. With a slight hole in the middle I didn't understand. Now I'll have to start at the beginning to make sense of the end I just finished. I hope the series is as good as the ending.
An excellent read. Sheridan has missed him for the past month. But Lambert's final operative has completed his mission. Now, it's time for him to focus on her. There will always be bumps along the road. How they react to those is the telling story.
Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Great world building. Happily Ever After. Romantic. Scary. Steamy. Wonderful characters.
A short novella that left me wanting a bit more. So Greg got his HEA with Sher, love that shortened version of her name, but it didn't leave me sighing with an aww. I felt something was still unfinished.
Commander Greg Lambert got his second happily ever after with Sheridan. His work with the Sleeper Seals is done and now it’s his turn to enjoy having love back in his life.
Great ending to a fab series. I might it have read all of the sleeper seals books but those I have read I thoroughly enjoyed. So to see Greg get his own hea was a fitting ending.
What a great way to end the series. Greg had managed to find 12 SEALS to do the jobs for the country and they each found love and happiness. So glad it was finally his turn.
