Thane has served his goddess for thousands of lifetimes, but even he knows that time is running out. There's only one way to save her, to save all of Dweller kind, and it's a suicide mission.
The host is a boy named Jakob. His ancient soul is one of the rare sources of power still recycling in the world of flesh. Thane has taken so many souls to his goddess, but this one could save them all.
It's only when Thane learns the truth of the gods does he deny them their power. Souls aren't recycled. They're destroyed, and his goddess isn't a deity... she's a monster.
Permanently melded with his human host, Thane meets his soulmate, a woman who captures his heart like his goddess never did. He'll do anything to protect her, and the gods know it.

This one was a hard one for me to get into and eventually, rate. I was pretty confused a lot and struggled to follow. I was lucky to get the audiobook and I must say, the narrator did well. I am not a fan of male narrators in general (in my little experience with male narrators) cuz I find it hard to get into the female voices as the male tones are generally, deeper. It just never clicks. However, this book being in Thane's voice, who is a dweller, the male narration was a must. So, overall, narration was very well done.
The story, however, was confusing for me because it felt I got started into a world I have no idea about. It felt like book two, world building wise. There wasn't much world building which failed for me to imagine what was going on. I could not connect to any characters and thus, for me, it just was a struggle. I did not feel invested in anyone. Although, Thane (dweller) and Jacob (human) grew up on me eventually. Their souls are melded and it leads to complications eventually. Cynthia, was an interesting character and played somewhat imp roll but I was also confused by their loyalties.
The story is fantasy filled with Gods being all power hungry (what's new?) and dwellers souls there to serve their Gods. Eventually, truth is outed and thus, begins the struggle for Thane and accepting it for what it is and figuring out how to right the wrongs.
***I received an audiobook free. I volunteered to review.***
Thane one of the main characters melds his soul with Jacob a young human man in order to save the gods. Thane and Jacob become nearly one over the years as their souls mesh. It turns out Jacob's soul is ancient and somehow the savior that Thane is seeking to save the god's. I enjoyed how Thane and Jacob meshed together. The author did a fantastic job with their characters and dropping enough clues to understand how they are one body and two souls.
I was a bit confused with the ather and how that worked. I love the idea of it but wish the author had given more information on that earlier in the story. Overall, it's an epic journey embarked on by Jacob and Thane. They meet some interesting creatures with plenty of action and adventure. I think the narrator's pacing and voice do the story justice.
I HOPE YOU CARRY DUCT TAPE!!! Ok guys, are you ready for me. I think not, but I'm here to stay. So pull up a seat and sit a while. You know me well enough by now to know I love jumping in head first. Lets keep the fun going shall we. This one hit the ground running. You have a whirlwind of destruction coming and not sure if you can keep the loss to a minimum. You have a multitude of drama, deceit, lies and betrayal with a gut wretching realisation that there is no safe haven. The world as you knew it is crumbling at your feet with no idea who to trust and allies are growing thin. The characters and scenes were realistic, intriguing and complex with an undeniable connection. The scenes were so vividly detailed and descriptive that it was so life like and real that you felt you could reach out and touch it. With danger and suspense dogging your every step, you make every move count. Twists, turns and unexpected surprises that kept me captivated from the start. Following the characters along as their personalities blossomed and grew to become a force to be reckoned with. A strong storyline that moves smoothly as the plot thickens. Flowers did a remarkable job bringing this read to life. Great job Flowers and thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.

Summary: Thane has spent his entire existence as a dewller in the service of his goddess and when she asked him to embark on another dangerous mission he didn’t hesitate. Unfortunately this time he luck ran out forcing him to bind with a very strong and ancient entity to be born as a human. No one know that is blending could change everything for Thane. He got to experience the life and emotions of a human, but when the host Jacob awakened to his past memories Thane began to realize that everything he thought as truth was far form it. Thane and Jakob strike an agreement to work together to save what is left o humanity form the very gods they worship to protect them.
And so begins an adventure that takes Thane and Jakob into danger as they fight to fight for humanity, but are they and their allies strong enough to survive against the very gods they serve?
This fast paced and intricate story takes the reader into new worlds experiencing all through Thane and Jacob’s eyes. It was fascinating how Thane reacted to human emotions as Jacob’s life unfolded. As a dewller he was taught that emotions were beyond feelings, but that may not be true. Experiencing this as an audio-book brought each character to life as the narrator’s rendering gave them a unique flair.
I offered to review this audiobook because I am such an an avid reader but also almost exclusively audio due to my schedule. Because of this, I can be critical of narrators. Especially when books have a single narrator required to speak with different voices for multiple characters. Most cannot do it without having some errors where they use the wrong 'voice' for the wrong character. I am a true believer in the fact that a bad narrator can destroy a great book and have turned away several books with good ratings because of just that. The narrator in this book did a great job, so I was able to listen to the book without issue.
Next is the story. I am not one to give a lot of specific story details since I feel you should read the story for that, and in this case, you won't be disappointed. This is book 1 in a paranormal series, which has great characters and an interesting storyline with lots of intrigue and suspense and will keep you listening until the story ends, or at least book 1 of the story. Trust me, if you are into paranormal suspense books, you definitely won't be disappointed!

AJ Flowers has a way of writing her books like a perfectly conducted masterpiece. Intricately woven, each sentence paints such a picture that the scenes and settings described draw the reader into a whirlwind of emotions and unexpected surprises. All the characters are unique, intriguing and complex, and each play a pivotal role to the story, as they enhance the plot significantly with their powers and contribution to this created world. I love the way the Author takes mythology, ancient facts and legends and mixes it all up in this tale that is well laid out, imaginative and full of action from the beginning. Flowing smoothly it has a fantastic plot and storyline. There is a lot happening in this book, and it offers a world featuring a blend of gods, dweller, shifters, humans and much, much more. I look forward to the next book in the series. The book is well presented with a complex and interesting cover. Recommended! Gifted with a copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Due to the setup of this book, it was a little slow to get going, but once the main character had got past the prologue part of the book, things picked up quite nicely with strong world-building and an entertaining cast to fill it out. Obviously with this being the first book in the series, it perhaps could have benefited from being a little more self-contained to engage the listener more strongly, but it is enjoyable enough that the payoff in subsequent books should offset any slight concerns with this one.
The narrator did a good job overall, particularly with the main character where it was important to establish which of the two was in control at that time and he enhanced the story overall with his performance.
Overall, an interesting and quite quick introduction to this series, one which I will be interested in seeing how it progresses.
[Note - I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.]
I found this book to be quite interesting, although at times confusing. Not so much confusing that it didn't make sense, or the plot was bad, but figuring out the different aspects. There are three types of beings in this book - the gods, the dwellers, and the humans. The dwellers seem to live inside a host body at times, or live in the aether, I'm not sure which, but they collect souls for the Gods. The aether seems to be a living entity of it's own.
Thane is a dweller who is also a shifter. He loses his life and ends up finding another soul to bond with, which happens to be human. He has to learn to live as a human and emotionally bond with his host as well. This causes confusion as to his loyalties.
Overall, I really enjoyed the book. I'd be willing to read the others in the series to see if I can understand the world better.
I read the novella for this a few months ago and was completely hooked. The pace and writing didn't change from the novella to this full length novel. I seriously didn't want to put this down! The characters are even better than I imagined they would be (due to reading the novella), they were somewhat relateable considering this is a fantasy novel. I was completely sucked in with the world building as well and the action was non-stop! There were honestly no dull moments for me!!!
I seriously cannot wait to see what is in store for Soul Child!
This made for a very fun way to spend an afternoon, as I got lost in a very intriguing world. I particularly liked the take on a lot of topics in this one, such as souls, gods and more along those lines, as it made me think quite a bit. It’s also a beautiful, magical world that I felt would be amazing to watch on the screen. Would make a fun couple of movies or miniseries, I expect.
Plan to read on in the series.
4 stars. ⭐️ ⭐ ⭐️ ⭐️
Note: I listened to the audiobook—what a stellar performance! Am now a fan of this narrator. 5-star performance.
This is my favorite story by this author so far! I absolutely loved it and look forward to the next book. I was fascinated by this storyline and the characters created are wonderfully appealing. The blending of myth and magic with mystique and real emotion makes this book one you won't want to miss.
I have mixed feelings about this book. I had difficulty picturing the different worlds and had trouble remembering which was which. I have read other books by the same author without that problem. However, I found Thane and Jakob’s characters to be interesting. I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Audiobook review: Soul Bound is an interesting fantasy tale with shapeshifters and gods. The storyline is interesting and entertaining. The characters are likable and believable. The story sucked me in and I was sad to see it end! The narrator did a great job! I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I thought this book is good I had a hard time following at times. The switch between worlds was hard to keep up with where I was and I’m not sure if it was the narration that was making it difficult though. Overall I think if I was able to give this book my complete focus it would have been better for me but with audiobooks I like to multi task so that was not the case.
My review is based on the audiobook. This is a fantastic book one filled with in depth characters that you can't help liking and becoming invested in. There is a perfect blending of myth, magic & magical creatures (shifters). The narrator is wonderful bringing the story to life. The world is unique and Im excited for more.
A.J. has created a fantastic world with great characters. From the first page you are drawn into the story - a fly on the wall. Wonderful start to a new series. Am anxiously waiting for next in series "Soul Child".
An interesting fantasy story filled with gods, shapeshifters and power unlike anything I’ve ever read. The whole concept was unique and interesting to read. I look forward to discovering more about the characters and what happens next.
Soul Bound by A.J. Flowers is the first in the Dwellers series. This is also a first from this Author for me. I found the story concept very intriguing and enjoyed the characters. Great world building and kept me interested from start to finish. Looking forward to more in this series!

Oh a fantastic book that hooks you from page 1 and has your jaw dropping thru the twists and turns you would never expect. Thane is a well developed hero with a purpose in life until his world and everything he believed to be true is flipped upside down. He must now make a choice of whom to serve and whom to protect. love the characters and the new world Flowers has created!
