I may wear a badge, but I haven't been on the right side of the law in years.

Silent Phoenix MC has had me in their cross-hairs since I was eighteen and it doesn't matter how hard I fight, I'll never outrun the sins of my youth.

A chance meeting on the beach changes the game. Suddenly, I'm consumed, not with tequila or women, but by a pint-sized redhead with a personality as big as the great state of Texas.

There's no coming back from the things that I've done. I'm cut from the same cloth as my old man and guys like us- we don't deserve second chances.

Something about her makes me feel like I'm worthy of just that though.

As an officer of the law, I'm sworn to serve and protect, but who am I kidding? With as deep as I'm in, I could very well be the one to destroy her.

Renegade is the first book in the Renegade Series. Mike and Lauren's story continues in Traitor.

Shannon Myers

Shannon is a born and raised Texan. She grew up inventing clever stories, usually to get herself out of trouble. Her mother was not amused. In junior high, she began writing fractured fairy tales from the villain's point of view and that was the moment she knew that she was going to use her powers for evil instead of good.

In 2003, she moved to Denver and met the love of her life. After some relentless stalking and a few well-timed sarcastic remarks, the man eventually gave in to her charms and wifed her so hard. They welcomed a son in 2007 that they named after their favorite Marvel superhero, Spiderman.

Sick of seeing beautiful mountains through their window every day, the three escaped back to the desolate landscape of the west Texas desert in 2009. She welcomed her second son not long after and soon realized that being surrounded by three men was nothing at all like she'd imagined in her fantasies.

After an unplanned surgery in 2014 and a long pity party, she decided to pen a novel about the worst thing that could happen to a person in order to cheer herself up. She's twisted like that. Thus, From This Day Forward was born and the rest, as they say, is history.

Not only does Shannon enjoy stalking people, she also has a fondness for being stalked. Visit her at www.shannonshaemyers.com to keep up with her latest schemes and shenanigans.

One of my favorite books of 2017!

This is why Shannon Myers is one of my favorite authors and a hidden gem. I’m baffled that she’s not huge in the indie world because her words are magical, her stories are unforgettable, and her characters are flawed, broken, but with redeeming qualities that make you fall in love with them.

When I first heard that she was writing another book, I just signed up without reading the blurb. I wasn’t sure what to expect with Mike and Lauren’s story, but I LOVED it! I devoured it in two sittings, my heart kept clenching (mini-heart attacks are real!), the feels were strong with this one! I was hooked from the very beginning and I didn’t want it to end!

I won’t go into the plot, just know that you’ll want to throw your kindle A LOT of times when reading this book. The story is raw, gritty and realistic. The characters are flawed and make plenty of mistakes, but I still loved them. Their pasts were unexpected and tragic. The author doesn’t hold back so be prepared! Oh, and the sex scenes were hot too. I’m seriously dying for the sequel! I.NEED.TO.KNOW.WHAT.HAPPENS.NEXT!

Renegade by Shannon Myers a fast paced and hard hitting five-star read. This is the first book in the renegade series and what a start, it’s such a great story, if you have read the Operation series then you will have seen some of the characters before but, this book they come into their own and we also get a little glimpse into that series again. Hopefully we will get some loose ends wrapped up, and the second book is released soon so I can’t wait.
Mike Sullivan is a man whose life isn’t going the places he thinks it should be, in all the characters I have read recently Mike is the one whom when I’ve seen him before I always thought aaggghhh douche canoe, but now I kinda have a soft spot for him. He has really grown on me, I can’t wait to see how he will keep growing and developing as this story grows.
Lauren Santiago has been through the wars and come out the other side a stronger person, but is she too strong now? Will she ever be able to soften and let someone in?
This was a great story of perseverance and making lemonade when life gives you lemons. I’m a glass half full type of girl, and I’ve always tried to encourage other people to do the same, this book gave me that in spades and showed me to get what you want you have to keep fighting and sometimes fighting isn’t enough. Will it be enough for Mike and Lauren? You will have to read the book to find out.
Well done Shannon Myers you have wrote a great story, I really wish more people knew about you as an author, as your talent needs to be recognised by so many more people.

Slow to start but once in to it, it picked up. I really liked it and then Pt. 2. Which is out already.
Story of a boy who became a cop, caught-up owing MC for taking care of a problem when he was a teen. He drank and had a lot of one night stands and then he met a woman he couldn't forget.
Lauren, raised by an addict absent mother and barely survived. But was taken in by someone who kept her in school and then sent to college. Kept to herself and got a job as an office manager. Went to a wedding and met a man that she couldn't forget.
They played a game called, Tell me something about yourself that isn't true. They were suppose to meet back in his motel room but.. it didn't happen. She couldn't forget him.
Until they meet again...

(Traitor Book 2) will make sense of the whole beginning and what a finish it will bring.

I found myself loving Lauren's story more! But once their stories intertwined, I really enjoyed their characters, struggles and personalities. They were born with toxic parents. They both pulled themselves out, making themselves strong individuals. But they can't escape their pasts. (Also, read this as a stand-alone without reading anything by Shannon Myers or anything Silent Phoenix MC prior didn't seem to matter)

I genuinely have no idea how to approach this review and allow everything I feel to soak into it. I will say that Shannon absolutely outdid herself with the story, here. Mike is someone we met waaaaay back in From this Day Forward & Forsaking All Others, and he is a man that I’ve been DYING to know about since. We don’t get too much depth from Mike until You Save Me, but it still wasn’t enough to get a true picture of who he was...

I feel like I may have approached these characters from a different timeline than they were written, but that's okay! Going from Operation Fit-Ish and Annulment to this was quite a change of pace to say the least. This book is darker, grittier, much more involved in the ugly underbelly of MCs, crime and the people involved, even on the fringes.

I like Lauren. She was dealt a tough lot and even though she does things that make you want to scream at her sometimes, those actions and reactions are the human one, the one that I think most of us would make. She's funny and smart and gorgeous. I do wish that she'd quit her job and tell off her psycho hose beast of a boss, though.

Mike. Oh Mike. You're so likeable when you're sober and not in desperate need of a Proctologist to locate your head. I just struggle so bad liking anything about him when he's not the self he never thought he could be - when he's with Lauren and happy. I have zero patience for men like him and will never understand how their minds work. He's going to end up in a lot of trouble, and soon.

I'm usually upset with an ending like this one, but I felt that it was super well suited to this story. I am moving on to Traitor to see what happens next, and then I'll get around to the beginning of these characters' stories with David and Elizabeth's stories.

Everyone who knows me are very aware what a huge biker romance fan I am, so when I learned of a new-to-me author I had to give her a try. I am SO glad that I did! Renegade just pulled me in and spit me out...emotions all over the place. Mike and Lauren are two interesting characters who have a lot to deal with in their lives and what a crazy ride they go on together. With flashbacks to childhood and what formed them to be the adults they turn out to be...I just knew their stories would get twisted and messy. Lauren had a rough start for sure and only through another's kindness was she able to get on with her life and leave that ugly past for better things. Mike made a serious mistake as a youth and now is indebted for the rest of his life after getting help from someone he would always owe.
This was an intense book with a lot of ups and downs and I loved it...because I hate to be bored when I read and this was anything but boring. Now on to the next in the series!

I'm in love with Michael Sullivan too!!! I just keep falling for all Shannon Myers characters. And Mike just made the list. If you've read all of Shannon's books, you'll know who Mike Sullivan is. A cocky ass that just wanted a cameo in all of her books. Well, now not only he gets his book, he gets 2. So yes, there will be a cliffhanger, one that left me wanting more. I need my Mike and Lauren fix. But it will be a short wait.

This book goes back to Mike and Lauren's childhood, the first time he actually meets Lauren and everything that happens in between. We get glimpse of what happened in From This Day Forward and Forsaken All Others from Mike's and Lauren's point of view.
You'll fall in love with this book! I know I did. Shannon Myers is a very talented and amazing writer. I first started reading her work in May and I've been hooked ever since. Her books are full of love, suspense, angst, funny, heartbreaking and yes, happy endings. Fangirl forever.

I should have known better when I started this book that Shannon would test me in every way. EVERY WAY! Shannon Myers is the queen of leaving Easter eggs in books. Then she shows you where to find them in her next book that has you wondering how you missed it! Soooooo good!!

You will want to set aside your day to read, because once you start your won't want to stop until you are done. I will note here this is book one...yes that means there will be another one! And damn she leaves us with a good cliffhanger too.

This is Mike and Lauren's story. If you have been a Myers fan for awhile, then you have read her other books. You will have had snippets of Mike and Lauren sneaking in here and there, and you have craved more. Don't be nervous if you haven't read any of her previous work, you don't have to, to pick up here. Renegade takes you back to where things started for both characters. She weaves you through the past, the ups and downs to the moment they meet.

I was spell bound by the timeline she navigates us through. Reliving her previous stories as seen through Mike and Laurens eyes fills in things you didn't know had happened.

So much is unfolded as she unwinds Mike's character. You love him, you hate him, you hate that you love him. Its all there.

Lauren is so much more than you suspected her to be. Her story is uncommon. As you are taken through the years you realize there is one thing that she needs...Love. She struggles, she endures, but mostly she loves.

The road to finding each other wasn't always pretty. You need the darkness to appreciate the light. The chemistry between them scorches the pages as you cling to your kindle. I never knew the bad boy could be so right before Mike!

There story is so powerful you feel empty not knowing how their story is going to end. I need Traitor now! Till the second book comes out I am going to fill my days rereading Myers stories starting at the beginning with her first novel and working my way to Mike and Lauren again.

Add to the MUST read list!

5+ Star Review by Jodi for Ruby Red Romance Review

There aren't many times that a book sucks me and and won't let go. This book, Renegade did that and more. This book is hot, sexy, stunning, shocking, and one of the best books I have read in a while. I needed some talking off the ledge when I finished this book and I might have begged Shannon Myers for the next book.

I love everything Shannon writes and this book is no exception. I LOVE Mike. He may be my favorite character she has ever written. And Lauren, that girl has overcome so much to become the woman she is. I can't say enough about this book, but I 100% do not want to give anything away. I want you to pick this book up and love it as much as I did. I will say, this story ends in a cliff hanger, so you have been warned.

Renegade was the first book by Shannon Myers that I have had the pleasure to read. I was hooked from the very beginning, I love duet novels so having the perspective from both Mike and Lauren was great.

This book was intense, it had emotion, drama, and action. I loved how Shannon provided a detailed background into both the main characters it made me more invested, it is a deep book. This book is so incredibly well written, the character chemistry and dialogue is excellent, it is sexy, action-packed, shocking all-around brilliance. One of the top books I have read in a while.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

I am STILL trying to figure out WHAT in the world Shannon Myers did to me. Renegade was such an emotional, drama filled, incredibly INTENSE, one of a kind story! This is Mike and Lauren's story and I feel like we get...EVERYTHING! In most books we get a slight back story for characters but for Mike and Lauren, we get THEIR whole story, up to the very point where and how they first meet. I shed so many tears and was just downright edgy as I was reading this DEEP book.

Shannon Myers is the only author I know that can keep me on edge with her dramatic books. And this ending...I want to pull my hair out because of the incredible cliffhanger. And I didn't even realize that Mike and Lauren's was going to be a duet! Renegade was and is a real emotional story folks. And even though the road to Lauren and Mike's romance is drama filled, its still so WELL WRITTEN! I think Mike took me for the BIGGEST surprise. And how he came to be the way he is will shock you but yet there is a...darker knight in shining armor within him that I can't help but to be intrigued about. I would SO take this man as my own in a heartbeat!

Renegade gets a DARK, GRITTY, AND AMAZING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! Be prepared people for one heck of a story! I am BEGGING for Traitor now!

This is not what I expected at all.
The series was very hyped in one of the groups on FB, however, it's not an MC book at all, even though it states that it is. Maybe the series as a whole is a MC one, but this book on it's own definitely not. It's more about the guy and a girl, who have connections with them, but are not close and personal on the front lines.
*IT CONTAINS SPOILERS*

It's a book about Michael, who is a son of a MC member, but up until the age of 11 thinks that the MC are the good guys.
Then his father takes him to the MC dealing, where he sees another member and his Old Lady being hunted and gunned down by his father. He also finds out that his father is cheating on his mom. He decides right there, that he will never be part of the MC and will fight for the good guys.
Years later, he is a dirty cop, man whore and a drunk, doing whatever the MC wants from him, since his own father helped him clean up a mass, when he was 18 and the MC is blackmailing him.

On the other hand we have Lauren, who has an addict as a mother and takes care of herself. At the age of 16, her counselor at High School sees her living conditions and an absent mother, so he takes her home with him.

Now, how I feel about the book?
Honestly, mah, I had really high expectations, so finding out that it's not what I expected kind of bums me out (obviously it's my fault, since I was expecting an MC book, the rating is high and the hype on FB was real).

First thing - Lauren and Mike don't cross paths until around 30% marker. I understand, we get all the back stories for both of them, seeing their main events through the years, but still, it just felt too long.

Second thing - I think Lauren is stupid. There, I said it.
She got screwed by her mother more times that she could count by the age of 16. At that time, she was alone for two months, while her mother was "looking for a job", living in a ranted condo without electricity and water, had to sleep on a barely there sofa and was almost raped in home invasion.
Years later, her mother finds her living with her counselor, and Lauren offeres her a shower and to spend the night, and Lord and behold, practically empties his apartment, because that's what junkies do.
And years later, she pops up again, and stupid Lauren gives her a ride and buys her food, only to get robbed out of the car, for which she pays fees and tickets for the next 5 years, courtesy of dear meth mother.
Like, damn girl, when are you going to learn? Just, stupid.
Not to mention, she works for a class A-bitch, who straight up said, that she sees her as her personal slave. And abuses her working hours. And is mean and just a fucking cunt. But Lauren just keeps working for her and keeps noding her empty head.

Third - the relationship between Mike and Lauren. Mainly; the lies.
Mike never told Lauren his involvment with the MC, or that he slept with her boss (yap, the cunt).
She on the other hand, hadn't told him that her mom became an Old Lady (even though he knew, because of his affiliation) and that it might put her on the map with the MC. Which she was already on for being with him.
So the consequences of those lies and the possibility of the death because of it, pissed me off.

All in all, I planned on giving this one a 3 stars, but the last 20% of the book picked up the tempo and got more interesting, so I'm giving it 3.5 stars (still leaning more towards 3).

Michael Sullivan grew up around the Silent Phoenix Outlaw MC but ended up being a police officer on the right side of the law. But soon he finds himself in a precarious situation of not knowing which side of the law he is really on.

Lauren McGuire is 17 in 2004 when her mom disappears and she is evicted but is saved by her school guidance character.

When Michael and Lauren meet at the wedding of their respective friends sparks fly but they don't see each other again until a year later. But as much as Michael and Lauren have attraction both of them have demons in their closets that could bring them down at any moment.

Can Michael protect Lauren from what he is going through or will his straddling the fence cost him everything?

This book was great and had so many twists and turns that I wasn't sure what was going to happen next.

I liked Michael and knew he was in over his head. I thought his dad, Comedian, the VP of the Silent Phoenix was so cruel to him growing up and really gave him no choice in what happened. He wanted to do good but was stuck with something over his head that made things very difficult.

Lauren grew up in such a difficult environment and her relationship with her mom was key to many events in this book and how she reacted to certain things. She was tough and also scared to get close to anyone.

It was interesting to see the relationship between David and Elizabeth and how that also affected the dynamics between Lauren and Michael. As both went through their relationship issues it caused strain and secrets that could affect everything.

There were so many ups and downs and secrets that the book gripped you and you had to see what happens next!!

Looking forward to the next book after this crazy end!!

Michael “Mike” Sullivan takes us to his past so that we can understand his present. Lauren McGuire’s teenage years were pretty rough but she found that she has someone in her corner. In a way their lives even though may seem polar opposite have some similarities.

What impressed me was we start off with two different stories. The author lets the reader get to know the characters as individuals. We get a peek into the ups and downs they went through in the past as they work their way to their present. Our past is what can shape our futures – it’s part of who we are. And it leads to where our two characters meet. It’s a story that seems so realistic. Don’t you ever look at a couple and wonder how they met? This does that for you as well as who they are before they meet. Then watch out after that first connection for the heat that starts to build. Does it build to an ending? No it builds to a wait and see. That was good because I wasn’t ready for their story to be over.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

You will need too read all books in this series - but believe me once you have read this one you will be hooked!

The first book sets the scene over multiple years and tells the story of Lauren and Mike (their story finishes in book 2 Traitor). Mikes father Comedian is VP of the MC he bullied his young son from an early age and took him to a kill at 11. Mike decided he wanted something different, he wanted to be a better man so he became a cop. Unfortunately for him one mistake he made before joining the police force that could stop his ambition was cleared up by the club and they now years letter are cashing in and he finds himself walking a fine line.

Lauren didn’t fair much better as a teenage her mother a junky never their Lauren was taken in by her councillor who helped her finish school.

She meets Mike at their friends wedding and hit it of but their story isn’t pretty and at the end of this book you doubt these too could ever have a happy ending!

This book is deliciously dark. Check your triggers for violence and domestic violence. The world you’re about to enter is dark, and the men grow up tainted by their pasts. I love that there is so much background on the characters and you’re fully immersed in their lives. The characters develop so well, and they make so many mistakes due to blinders in a crisis. At the basis of it all, there is a love story here but it not traditional and it will hurt. If you’re prepared to bleed for this story, please enjoy. It’s one heck of a ride !

WOW! I've volunteered to review this book for United Indie Book Blog. This is my first time reading one of Shannon Myers books. This is the first book in the Silent Phoenix MC series. the story is about Mike and Lauren. Mike grew up around the Silent Phoenix Outlaw MC, but wanted to be one of the good guys. Lauren is an survival from having an addict absent mom. This book was intense, it had emotion, drama and action. They each have their own demons to face but they are stronger together. What a roller coaster ride of emotions. This is a cliffhanger so don't be too disappointed. There is so much that goes on in this story. I’m so afraid of giving anything away. There are so much twists and turns that will you wanting more. Keep up the great job!

Great book

Gritty, dirty, bad boy, a cop forced to be dirty by the Brotherhood of bikers, and a man whore to boot, forced to reform from his drinking by that same Brotherhood, finds a woman worth dying for only to lose her. A daughter of an addict finds love with a cop only to be disappointed by him in the end. Add in a criminal ex, a kidnapping, plenty of twists and turns, a reformed addict for a mother and you have one great read, well worth your time, but make sure you read the first ones in the series and don't expect an Hea.
