This is the first novel ever to capture the heart pounding, life and death drama of helicopter air ambulance rescue. The story revolves around the misadventures of ICU nurse Angie Jackson, paramedic Russ Andrews and pilot Dale Morgan as they fly to the scene of motor vehicle accidents, assist with mountain rescues, learn how to luge and take part in the 1988 Calgary Olympic Winter Games torch relay.
I thought this was a true story when I picked it up. then I found out it wasn't, although it was written by a flight nurse who worked on Stars and her experiences definitely guided her writing and made the technical details very real. She called it "semi- autobiographical". it was fun reading a story set so close to home! parts of the plot seemed to be over the top.
