Suzume left Kaito behind to find answers. But the break isn’t clean on other side. As they both return to their separate homes, neither finds what they were expecting.
Suzume’s father, the emperor, is intent on destroying Yokai. While Kaito’s kingdom is under threat from human extermination.
Now they find themselves on opposite sides of a war. Can they learn to work out their differences in time before the war between the yokai and humans destroys Akatsuki?
Nicolette Andrews is a born and raised San Diegan with a passion for fantasy, especially if it has a romance and some mystery and intrigue mixed it doesn't go amiss either. Apart from writing, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, preferably somewhere outside enjoying the San Diego sunshine.
After Sumuze left Kaito at the end of book two, they find themselves on different sides of an upcoming war.
Sumuze is back at the palace, but getting into her own life isn’t as easy as she thought it would be. She’s seen too much to go back to being oblivious. She finds out more about her past, trains with the mysterious Ryuu, and continues struggling against H and the darkness within her.
Kaito goes back to his palace and learns how many of the y were lost while he was banished in stone. He deals with his feelings for Kazume and Sumuze while trying to convince his people he has changed.
The strength of the series is with Sumuze and Katio, and their lack of time together really slows down the plot. Sumuze does confront her own selfishness in this series and sees lots of character growth.
The book is better edited in this edition. There where a few thing I noticed but nothing like the glaring strike-throughs of book two.
Looking forward to the next book. And also watching a ton of Inuyasha since it reminded me of it so much.
I honestly don't know where to start or what to say. From book #1 it's been a rough journey. I've been frustrated with the lack of character growth, stagnant plot, and long winded scenes. So much could have been cut out and condensed.
I won't continue on with this series. The only reason I made it this far was because I bought the box set. I don't think Nicolette's writing voice is bad by any means. It's all in the planning of the series. It felt very make it up as you go along.
Wow! Even better than book two! I need more NOW!!!! I love the world Nicolette has created. I really enjoyed the way the characters grew in this book. The storyline was great and I enjoyed the mystery and the few twists and answers we got in this installment. Can’t wait for more!
Honestly, this novel was really enjoyable. At times I felt like it dragged and had a continual repetition with the whole "she's weak" ~ "I'm not weak" vibes, but overall very good continuation and building.
I’m so happy that the two should be love birds finally get sort of back together. I’m glad that the dragon finally admitted his feelings but it’s too bad Suzume doesn’t believe him. I hope they get together by the end or I will be heartbroken.
I loved this series . This is the first book I'm actually writing a review for on goodreads , because that's how much I loved it . First the author started this series way way before there was all the conversation about representation and diversity . Big props to her for creating an immersive and interesting world , that's for once is 1. not another eurocentric fantasy . And giving us an asian inspired one 2. Holds the promise for epic romance without it being a neener - neener annoying girl focused on saving boy . Boy being undeserving. Whole love geometrics .
I love kaito and Suzanne both. I will not be taking any slander about either . Katie's gone from angry grudge holding angry dragon to an intriguing immortal. I wouldnt want him any other way. Yes , Suz grumbles. So what ? If I were a 18 year old former princess dealing with a is my soul my own existentialist crisis , while learning to fight and live life on the edge and rough tumble , unlike my previous 16 odd years of luxury I'd be pissed too. To say nothing of having feelings for a guy, who is also a dragon, and an immortal who may or may not still have feelings for the woman who entombed him. She's entitled to grumble . She doesnt have to be happy or long suffering and accepting about sacrifice. She just has to get stuff done. Which she does , extremely well.
Ok , will now go read book 4 and write an actual review . Please author , please give us book 5 this year

This third book (the final book in the boxset) is full of more action than the others, and we really see true character development happening. We also find out the truth behind the story of Suzume's birth and her family, who all her companions really are and their links, and see the tensions between the humans and yokai come to a head. An excellent story, thrilling finale to the boxset (if you've read the first three books in that great value way, as I have!), but the frustrating cliffhanger ending leaves you wanting more! NB I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I always give an HONEST review based wholly on my own opinions
Suzume struggles against Hisato and hope plummets. Kaito focuses on reuniting Akatsuki. Hisato's plots seem impossible to beat. Ryuu poses a major mystery. Hikaru searches for answers to his lost memories. This story kept me guessing throughout, and both hope and despair were offered at the end. I can't wait to read the next book in series.
Good to see the two main characters experience some personal growth. I was ready to DNF because they were getting to be too much. I enjoyed the twists in this one, especially the end (NOT TELLING!) I thought this was a trilogy...Clearly not 😂 I guess there are two more coming soon?! I look forward to reading them and seeing how things unfold and conclude.
So happy to finally find out who is part off what family. I cannot wait for the next book. The cliff hanger. Omg. Why are you doing this to me? Lol! I need to know how the Dragon is going to win over his love and if everyone will accept them. I simply must have the next book.
This book solved some unanswered questions. In some parts it was pretty obvious. Yet, the overall arch of the story is good enough to keep reading. So far the series is a guilty pleasure since the author is not Asian, the plot is guessable, and the main female character is adorable.
I definitely awaited this book as I wanted to finish the Saga. It dragged a bit at the beginning so I needed to bump it down a star, but otherwise it was well worth the read. I would highly recommend this book and the entire series. Andrews gets an A+ for her The Dragon Saga from this reader.
Outstanding book as always. Once I start reading, I’m totally lost in the story. The characters are so amazing and fit right in. No one should miss out.
