This book collects Lipton's writing from a panoply of magazines throughout the 80's and 90's. If you don't know who Lipton is, well he's basically the inventor of commercial 3-D filmmaking. He's the expert on the technology used in commercial theaters to project 3-D films. But he's also an underground filmmaker who made several personal/poetic films in Super8 and other cheap formats. He's the first person to have made a Super8 movies in 3-D! And he explains how to do it in this book. (It's very complicated, and the result is less than stellar). The book is filled with commentary, reviews of Super8 cameras, speculations on the future of film viewing, and other random tidbits of analog technology.
