Not gonna lie, The Twilight Language is one of those books where I kept pausing just to say "wow" out loud. Roderick S. Bucknell follows a long-haul trucker writing letters to a daughter he barely knows, and the letter about eating pie alone at a truck stop on her birthday gutted me. The structure gets repetitive, since every chapter is basically another letter. Who this is for: readers who like quiet, emotional stories told in small pieces. Who should pass: anybody hoping for action or twists.
The Twilight Language hits you right in the gut because Roderick S. Bucknell shows how quickly human solidarity breaks down when survival incentives are manipulated from above.
