Death and desperation. A fall from grace. Shattered.
In this prequel novel, Zoi is at the top of her occhemist classes. She's already being considered for the Occhemist Circle, but she needs the Last Elixir to secure a seat. After leaving Eien for Revellis, she's certain she can get the ingredient to the Last Elixir. But Revellis has something else she wasn't counting on--friends, love, loss.
Aramil is barely surviving on her own when she's forced to use her Conducting on a murderous rebel. Instead of being cast aside and forgotten again, she befriends a stranger searching for an ingredient. Forced to ignore the voices of the dead from her past, she refuses to be alone and fights to find family and purpose.
The final installment of Ryan Muree's The Last Elixir series, The Shattered Core, takes you back in time to the fall of Aramil and Zoi.
As an avid fan, I couldn’t wait for one more installment of the immersive worldbuilding, witty dialogue, and those relatable characters I have come to expect from Muree. This book accomplished that and so much more!
The Shattered Core focuses on the unlikely relationship between Zoi and Aramil as they support each other through life, loneliness, and death. Although these women have been major characters throughout the series, we’ve never gotten to know them quite like this. It was a satisfying and enlightening glimpse into their lives and aspirations, and it made me love the whole series even more.
Deep themes of love and loss run throughout, offering a compelling examination of questions we all face in our own lives. It all came together for an awe-inspiring and well-rounded end to this series. I really hope we see more from Muree soon!
