As the fabric of society changed, fashion took on a life of its own - exploding with new colors and trends - alongside the innovative rhythms and styles of jazz music. This work describes the clothes of the flappers of Jazz Age. It revisits an important part of social and cultural history.
This book is full of pictures of the fashions of the 1920s--mostly the women, but some men, too. It also mentions how change in society caused fashions to change, and sometimes be a little rebellious.
An interesting and very quick read of fashion of the era, a mere 60 some pages. Plentiful photos and illustrations—could always use more—but it hits the high spots in both the text and visuals. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
It was easy to understand with many facts about why it looked like this and how it looked but I would have loved a more in depth explanation of why, why did it become more acceptable to have shorter skirts? I was just left wanting more
These books are "OK." I have borrowed the set (1920s-1990s) from my library expecting to only look at the photos, however there is actually interesting content and so will continue.
A nice little overview of the fashions of the 1920s. This would be a good introduction for anyone interested, which makes sense, as its aimed towards teens I think.
This was a pretty interesting book. I love practically anything about the 1920s so this book was really cool. It really got in-depth with the fashion of the time, I didn't know you could go that in-depth with a topic so broad! I would recommend this book to anyone who loves fashion or the 1920s!
