Life is full of good and bad. Good — I’ve rescued my sister. Bad? — We’re being hunted by the Rebel Gods, powerful beings who are determined to kill us—and cause the end of days. So yeah, that’s real bad.
It’s up to me to find them and kill them before they destroy life as we know it. To do that, I have to finish my transition to DragonGod and master my magic. It’ll require a deadly adventure through the realms of myth, but with help from my sisters and the sexy war god Cade, I might have a chance. To succeed, we’ll have to unite old and new friends in the battle of a lifetime.
Master of Magic is a fast-paced urban fantasy adventure with a kick-butt heroine, a tough hero, and magic that will blow your socks off.

Before becoming a writer, Linsey was an archaeologist who studied shipwrecks in all kinds of water, from the tropics to muddy rivers (and she has a distinct preference for one over the other). After a decade of tromping around in search of old bits of stuff, she settled down to start penning her own adventure novels and is freaking delighted that people seem to like them. Since life is better with a little (or a lot of) magic, she writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance.
Master of Magic finishes the storyline involving Bree and her trials against the Rebel Gods. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed these books so I’m a little sad to read the end but know that as Bree has two sisters the author will surely return to this world. Speaking of world there’s a wealth of myth and legend in play here as we get bits of Roman, Egyptian , Hindu, Mayan and of course Norse thrown into the mix. Although I thought there was significantly less travelling around we were taken back to visit the wonderful tree known as Yggdrasil and it’s awesome inhabitants. Bree and Cade are perfect partners and so obviously into each other but that girl doesn’t fold easily! I loved that Cade let her just be her and even though he wants to protect her Cade steps back and allows Bree to be exactly who she is meant to be. To end this series there’s a battle royale with so much ar stake but you just have to trust that Bree has just a little in reserve ! This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
“You seem confused, Bree. But it’s actually really simple. I love you.”
I don't want to say goodbye but I think it's time. It's only a goodbye for this series as I'm sure I'm going to meet Linsey's writing again. It was full of adventure, original and absolutely fascinating. My love to Valkyrie warriors started here but I am going to continue that journey with other writers. Thank you for this beautiful story!
One of the themes that has remained throughout the 20 books-so-far (yes, 20!) is that of romantic consent. It’s so delightful to see a man say “I love you” and NOT expect the woman to return the sentiment until and unless she’s ready. Nor does the lack of an immediate reply send the guy into a tailspin of hurt self esteem. Both characters are allowed to advance things healthily and in their time. The male leads in these books never push or prod their ladies into saying yes before they’re ready; sex tends to wait until book three, four, or five out of five. (It’s rated PG when it comes.)
Another theme I appreciate (I haven’t yet noted it in one of my reviews, but it’s consistent through the series) is that a desire to not harm people if possible is leavened with practicality. Sure, the characters don’t want to beat up the little old lady, but once she starts quite effectively beating them up, they get over it. In other books the characters have noted they prefer to fight demons because they’re sort of “freebies” when it comes to killing (they just disappear on earth and reappear in the Underworlds), but when fighting people they sometimes end up saying “…but if it’s him or me…” or “…but he’s undeniably evil…”. It’s nice to see that balance.
It was strange to see several of Hall’s strengths fail so badly at the end, but the rest of the book stood up to all that’s come before. I’m still looking forward to starting Ana’s series, The Druid, next.
- bree and cade shouldn't have survived the ghosts village (duh) - it was impossible there was only 12 gods who rebelled. in greek myth alone, there was thousands of gods and some of them are not good. added the gods from other cultures and they would've fought hundreds of thousands of gods. do the math before making the book-.- - all those stupid 'does he really love me?' and 'he was oh so dam sexy i want to climb him like a tree' are so fucking annoying and it was repeated in EVERY SINGLE CURSED BOOKS AND SERIES. it was not even sexy, just disgusting - janus was a fucking GOD, how could he be a ghost-.- - rowan's missing power, isn't it in the stone that nix took from the eternal flame in a temple in the previous books? why didn't just ask her for it?! - i lost count of how many times she said: together we had a chance 🤮 it was in every fucking chapter - no matter how the author tried to describe how different each of the characters were, they were basically THE SAME FCKING PERSON in different faces and ages -.- an all the bad guys were the same
Recap: the story stars with Ana, Bree, and Rowan hunting Ness (the loch ness monster), who had been thrown with evolution potion so now it could walk on land and breath fire. they were tasked to peppered it with sleeping potions so Emily could took it to UP, returned it to the correct state, and returned it to the loch. when they were fighting it, Rowan had trouble with her magic and she couldn't access it. when they returned to the stronghold, they meet with Arach, who tried to access her blocked memory. she said that the rebel gods were preparing a potion that could track Bree down and they planned to kidnapped all 3 of them, stole their power, caused suffering on Earth in order to be worshipped. She also remembered a way to their other stronghold but only gods could enter so Cade and Bree would go find the 'gatekeeper' somewhere in Darklane and forced him to take them to the stronghold while Rowan would try to get her power back.
they went to the darklane, asked the blood sorceresses where is the darkest part of darklane, got a clue to go to the cemetery, meet the gatekeeper, who turned out to be Janus, whose touch could immediately kill them because he was the beginning and the end, but Bree gained a power from Odin that could control ghosts and she told Janus to take them. they went through some city of ghosts, worshippers of rebel gods, and their touch could also kill but bree couldn't control them all so they ran (it was impossible, really. they should've died. idiot scene).
they survived, naturally, and faced stone lions who was actually a captive so Cade released them and they entered the portal and proceeded to look for House of Wisdom from Baghdad where the rebel gods might store their evil plan. they entered, saw the map of northern scotland near the UP stronghold and got ambushed and thrown to jail. they escaped with the help of Mayhem and found a ghost that told them the rebel gods held a meeting somewhere in Hindu god's castle. they sneaked in, found that their plan was to kidnapped and used all the dragongods powers so they could walk permanently in earth. they just had to wait until bree go her last full power so they could track her down.
the guard who ambushed them came at that time and they immediately ran away, returned back to the UP stronghold and told the others about what happened. they planned to attack before the gods did and in order to do that, ana and rowan needed to find an amplifier crystal where they could store their power to be a beacon the gods while Bree went to Yggdrasil back to ask the gods to give the power sooner. Cade and Bree went to Yggdrasil but Bree went to the valkyrie's realm alone.
the valkyries told her that to request the powers from god, she had to make some sacrifice in a pool on the bottom of Yggdrasil, and they would help her in the end battle. Bree went out, found Cade betting with Ratatoskr, and he won so Ratatoskr gave them a ride to the pool. Bree sacrificed her sword and a portal to asgard was open, then Munnin and Huginn came to escort them to the too quite castle. they meet with Odin and Frigg, who told Bree that if she wanted to get her power, she had to save Idun, who tended the apple that keep the gods' youth. she was kidnapped by Jötunn and if Bree saved her, she would get her power when she returned her.
Munnin and Huggin flew them near the entrance of Jötunnheimr, to Mímir's well, who confirmed Idun's kidnapping and told them to go to the palace at Utgard. they met with giant wolf, who told them where to go in exchange for an apple, then giant eagle, who told them how to get in, in exchange for an apple. they saw the funeral the eagle told them but their invisibility were gone and they were trapped in the city of giants. they told the giants about the mission and Utgard-Loki said if they wanted the giants help, they had to face a challenge first, in exchange for some truth from the goddess of truth, Syn.
they raced against this dude named Hugi and lost (even though Bree flew and Cade ran as wolf), had to choose a cat amongst cat and picked it up, but she could only lift its paw and the owner of the cat came and kicked their ass, almost killing them if Bree didn't got a new power from Magni and Utgard-Loki didn't stop her. they were brought back to the city and almost became giant's dinner but Bree said that the challenges were rigged (the Hugi dude was actually thought and no one was faster than thought, the cats were actually the serpent under Yggdrasil, that was why she couldn't move it, and the old lady was goddess of old age). even some gods threw challenges at her to proof herself like Thor, Ran, Heimdall, even Syn gave her some of the power so she could see the truth.
it was decided that they didn't lose so they were granted audience with Syn but Bree realized by herself that the kidnapper of Idun was not the giants, but Mimir himself, who sent them to jotunnheimr to be killed. they returned back to mimir's well and fought him. Cade distracted him while Bree went inside the well, fought some well serpent, found the entrance to Mimir's lodging inside the well, fought the demon, found Idun and returned her to Asgard. Odin and Frigg thanked her, they gave her potion to hide the power for 24 hours and summoned the other gods to give her the powers (even though in later battle, there is no proof of her new power from this gods).
they returned back to UP to prepare for the fight, Ana and Rowan said they got the crystal and calling for their allies help so Bree returned back to Yggdrasil to tell the Valkyries just that, meet with Ratatoskr, gave him beer and told him about the battle, which interest him and said he would come. they rested for the night and the next day they went to the battle in the place where they first captured Loch Ness (because people couldn't transport from and to there).
Rowan, Ana, and Bree transferred their power to the crystal and the rebel gods came. Bree tried to take the crystals back but hers fell off and Eris took her power. even worse, she saw Cass dying from neck injury and tried to heal her until Aidan came. healed, Cass said she could help Bree getting her power back using her firesoul power and together with Del, Ana, and Rowan, they killed Eris and gained Bree's power back. shortly after, the battle ended and all those puny rebel gods died. and it was party time.

I really like the history and the storylines of these books, especially the different powers and gods the girls inherit. The settings are gorgeous and I feel like I'm in the Scottish highlands whilst reading them! I also love the cats of catastrophe from Anas series.
The only thing I'd say about these books is that the sisters series are slightly too similar character wise. You take a sister, throw her with a hulking attractive man who doesn't want to ruin their work relationship but is obviously attracted to her, give her three animal companions and some trouble with her powers, and a quest on how to become a dragongod.
I would have loved to see the men in these stories slightly more differentiated other than what kind of supernatural they were. I can't really differentiate them apart from one turns into a wolf. Rowan could have fallen for a new student who's destiny is entwined with hers, or someone of an entirely different species, a half fae who accidentally stumbled into their realm. I also completely lose the other sisters when the focus is on one. I don't see Ana's badass-ness in her sisters' series. I don't see Bree's responsible nature, or Rowan's struggle. You see tiny hints but it's like, as soon as that sister's series is done, they're gone. I like the focus on them separately but I didn't want to completely lose the other characters.
There are also a couple of continuity errors in all three dragongod series. For example in the second book of Bree's (the first series), she says that their mum told them in a letter their magic comes from Dragons. But there had been no mention of dragons anywhere before this, just that they were Unknown.
All in all: Historical and mythical background 5/5 Setting 5/5 Characterisation 3/5 Length of books 3/5 (I want more despite my grievances)
Series review: This is the 4th series in the dragon world. If you want to read them in order check out the website. It starts with Cass’s story, then Del, then Nix. Bree is a spin-off. If you like fast paced with minimal love scenes you might like this series (and the previous 3.)
The books (or novelllas?) or only around 200 pages each and start off fast. You hop from danger into danger with barely a break. Now I love action, but the problem I had with this series is that there’s so much action that the final showdowns are anticlimactic.
The stories were interesting and I feel like if they were longer she would’ve had more time to develop her characters better and really make us invested in the story. As it is we only get a brief glimpse into Cade’s background.
**SPOILER ALERT** It’s not “insta-love” but there’s no doubt that the two main characters are going to end up together. This series (and the previous series) are pretty formulaic that way. It starts off with our heroine who is hiding her powers and meets tall, dark, sexy, powerful (and don’t forget rich) guy who she’s not sure if she can trust. They figure out what she’s hiding by book 2 and by book 3 they admit their attraction. (I may be off by a book or so, but you get my drift.)
She spends 5 books trying to master her powers, which she would need to defeat the Rebel Gods.... yeah, only she didn’t. She gets her powers and immediately puts them in a crystal to lay a trap for the Rebel Gods. - What a dumb idea!!! It didn’t make any sense! She didn’t want her and her sisters to be taken by the gods so instead she uses their powers as a lure. They didn’t need the sisters, only their power anyway. So instead of being charged up with magic and weapons ready, they are basically down to human and have to fight through the gods and demons to reclaim their powers. Then they defeat the gods (in a couple of pages) without using any of her new powers or even finding out what they are. See what I mean? Lots of build up and a disappointing finish.
One of my biggest pet peeves with this author’s main characters (in this series and the previous 3) is that they’re full of self doubt. Bree was told by dragon gods, war gods, her sisters, coworkers, hell even ghosts I think that she was capable and she could do it. If you made it into a drinking game: drink every time someone reassured Bree, you’d be hammered.
Oh and let’s not forget the time Bree almost dies because she can’t do a pull up. Seriously?!? She’s fighting with swords, throwing knives and grappling with demons and gods but doesn’t have the strength to do a pull up?? I think it was supposed to be funny(?) but it just made me roll my eyes.
I know I’m complaining a lot, but I will say this: I liked the books, didn’t love them but I liked them. The characters and stories were interesting. I wish she had written 400 pages books to give the characters time to rest in between so we could get to know them better, especially some of the side characters. I would’ve loved a plot twist like a betrayal or a side characters’s death. I like action but I still need to feel something for the characters.
What an insult to the time invested in the rest of this series of ultra-short novellas. It’s an anticlimactic end, an insult to the rest of Bree’s story, and a letdown for anyone looking for an epic final showdown with 11 remaining Rebel “gods.” More pages (chapters) were given to Bree running an errand for Odin than for the final battle... It lasted a few pages, with the last 5 of the 11 ultra powerful gods being dispatched in 5 short paragraphs. If you expected to learn about any of the numerous new powers Bree supposedly receives from the Norse pantheon (the prerequisite for the final showdown with the Rebel gods), forget it. No detail is given AT ALL, nor are any new powers used in the final battle. In fact, the only powers used are healing and Thor’s lightning. Seriously. That’s it. The ending made the entire rest of the story in this book - Bree’s journey to gain the rest of her powers so she could face/destroy the Rebel gods - completely irrelevant. You may safely jump to the very last paragraph of this novella and get the very disappointing end to the series and miss nothing essential to or supportive of the climax. Everything you need to know for the climax was shared in the first four novellas of the series. This novella seemingly only served to waste our time and stretch a shoddy series ending into five novellas rather than four.
I feel so shortchanged after the time I’ve invested in this series that I’m done with this author for good. I’m frustrated for what could have been. The book is listed at 230 pages. Would a few more pages to reward us with a fulfilling climax after hours of investment in these novellas have hurt? It felt so rushed, as though there was a deadline that had to be met and sacrificed a quality end to Bree’s story. This being the last book in Bree’s series just adds insult to injury. All of this coupled with the SAME heroine (mannerisms, speech patterns, actions despite all of their supposed differences in ethnic and geographic origins) and repeated plot structure across every one of these series so far has left me irritated.
Well now, Bree has both sisters Rowan and Ana on board for a rousingly adventurous finale to the series. I will say this, if you have not read the other 4 books in Dragons Gift The Valkyrie! Stop Right Now! You will miss much of the buildup and adventures as to how they got HERE if you don’t! Back on their monster truck, the 3 sisters are together again, tracking a huge mis-placed monster nick-named Nessie. Hair flying, bumps, swerves, just like old times!
This is how the books opens, But you and I both know, Linsey has much more in store then a meer monster. The Rebel Gods have to be stopped! Those good for nothing maniacal rogues have terrorized long enough! But throw in the Norse Gods, Odin, his wife Freya, Ratatoskr, Mimir and others …..well hold on to your hats and belt in tight! The Norses Gods are all about honor and greatly dislike the Rebels, but they are not about to let just anyone waltz in ask questions, plus they are mischievous to a fault ( just ask Loki! Wink) and love to play games! Bree and Cade are subjected to several side jaunts just to get the whole ball started! By the way is Idun really real? Do those apples really yield strength? Life? Does Cade really love Bree? Now that I’ve got your interest, get a copy and read for yourself. You will find your self chuckling along as I did!
Now when is the next series going to start?
I was given an ARC but the Review is mine alone and freely given.
This book marks the end of the series starring Bree. I assume that the next set will either star Rowen or Ana. I like this series and enjoyed the additional magical communities, etc. but there were some sections that need some more development. I didn't love this set as much as Cass', Nix's, or Del's but I think the Big Bad was easier to get into during the first three sets of books. also liked the interactions between the characters and their surrounding community more in Cass', Nix's and Del's series. Bree's story seemed to have less 'trilogy' so to speak. It seemed to primarily be a story with Bree as the only really vital character with cameos from everyone else. Cass, Nix and Del needed their non- biological sisters more than Bree seems to need her actual sisters. I know that Bree and her sisters had difficult childhoods but so did the Fire soul sisters and they shared themselves. Despite not being my favorite, the books are well-written, tightly plotted, and have characters who are plausibly drawn. I would definitely recommend reading the first four books in the set so that you understand some of the references.
Generally, when we reach the last book in a series, I feel a sense of melancholy as I’ll miss the characters, the world, and the plots. However, one of the reasons I’m such a fan of Ms. Hall’s is that she takes one of the side characters and makes them the main protagonist in a new series so I really don’t have to miss anything. So, yes, we are at the last book in this part of the series in Bree’s viewpoint, Dragon's Gift: The Valkyrie. She is such a great, strong character, and as I’ve said before I love her and Cade’s relationship as he lets her be strong by herself. This installment just shows how much he does this with a great plot and great action scenes where Bree showcases her magical abilities. And, with the author’s great writing, we feel and see everything going on. I do wish we had seen more of Bree after she received all of her magical gifts, but I am sure we will see them in whichever sister’s viewpoint is next. I can’t wait! This was a great addition to the series, and I am ready for the next! Highly recommend! Thanks to the author for the e-copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
I've been a fan of this series as well as the firesouls before that. I like how everything was tied up and we got to see Cass, Nix, & Del just briefly. I loved that Cass was able to do something different with her firesoul power that we never saw before, even though this wasn't her story. Bree's adventures in this book were interesting & jam packed. It'll be be interesting to watch her powers continue to develop while Ana comes into hers.
The only downside I've noticed is a slight lack of world building. For the most part I can picture everything, but compared to the Huntress series along with Nix & Del's stories the world doesn't feel quite as fleshed out. The adventures are well described, but the Academy/home isn't quite there in my opinion. However, there are 10 more books to go I believe.
Thanks for the great writing, it is always enjoyable to read another of your books!
Wow! What an awesome contemporary, magical fantasy with a touch of romance. This was the final book where Bree is the main character. She and her sister Ana finally found their sister, Rowan after she was abducted and used for over five years by the rebel gods. It is up to Bree to come into her powers quickly in order to stop the rebel gods from walking the earth and plundering. The story is non-stop action with fabulous magical beings. Some fight beside her, such as Cade the God of war, and Bree's boyfriend and some right against Bree and friends. Every book I've read by Ms. Hall somehow out does the previous book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the subtle romance between Cade and Bree. I hope there are future books to tell us what happens with Ana and Rowan's magic. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. Thank you Ms. Hall for sharing your fantasy worlds with your readers.
I totally adore Linsey Hall’s Dragon's Gift: The Valkyrie series, both in concept and in execution, so it’s no surprise that I was delighted to get my hands on Master of Magic, book 5 of series. This book is, quite simply, superb and definitely recommended. It is exactly the perfect culmination to everything that the series has been building up to. It had just what I wanted and was well written and with a great plot full of magic, fantasy creatures and a smorgasbord of Gods (including Roman, Egyptian , Hindu, African, Mayan and Norse). I frankly adore Bree, loved watching her relationship with war god Cade develop and seeing how she, her sister Dragon Gods Ana and Rowen and the rest of the her gang (especially Aidan and Cass) take on the Rebel Gods. Really all I can think of is superlatives and I’m pretty sure anyone will agree.
Highly recommended, with the caveat that while you could read this standalone you’re much better starting off from book 1.
I cannot lie five stars I gave this was truly an amazing book. U love the old stories of the Norse Gods. Lindsay Hall knows how to write a story. Myth magic and some truths and others not. She can transport you to the story so well. Her imagination as well as her vast knowledge of archaeology and myths is amazing. Skillfully written. Yes she put her own twists to some of the myths but that lends more to this story. I can see Lindsey as an ancient druid Bard from long ago a bard of very high esteem. Which when you think about isn't that how myths became so strong. I can't wait for Ana's story to be told. And then Rowan's. Keep up the great works Lindsey Hall. A modern day Bard. Thank you for your stories .
Well, Bree's story is over and the enemy had a lot of friends, but so did Bree. It is nice to see the overlap between the firesouls and the Dragon Gods. If you have not read about the firesouls, Cass, Nix, and their sister (I forgot her name, starts with a d). Anyways, if you liked this story and were wondering who they were, you will enjoy Ancient Magic. I was not paid or given anything for the endorsement, I just thought you would like the recommendation. I enjoy other readers with similar interests recommendations. So, I figured I would throw it out there. Anyways, I am looking forward to Ana's and Rowan's story. Hopefully they will end up with a hot man like Cade. I really wish Cade was real and that he was my man!! Hehehe!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for honest review
We have reached the end of Bree's books and I couldn't be happier... or sadder... I'm so conflicted! I adored this book - we get to see Bree and her sisters reunited to kick ass together (Nessie adventure anyone?), more Bree and Cade (YUS!!!!), and get a whirlwind tour of history, different gods and the ways they were worshiped - it's so fascinating. Honestly I loved this series. Every time I start another one of Linsey's series I'm worried that I won't like it as much as the last one, and yet every time I end up loving it just as much, if not more, than the previous series - they are all amazing books and I can't recommend them highly enough.
Master of Magic is the fifth book in Linsey Hall's fourth Dragon's Gift series. Bree has a better handle on her gifts but she's not receiving them fast enough to take down the Rebel Gods. Bree and Cade will travel to Asgard to make ask Odin and Frigg if Bree can receive the rest of her gifts ahead of time. Though not everything is as it should be. Bree is tasked with finding a goddess and her golden apples before she can get Odin and Frigg's support. Once done it will be up to Bree and Cade to plan their last attack against the Rebel Gods. Overall, I enjoyed reading this series. It is fast paced with plenty of action and adventure. The next book to read is the first novel in Anna's series, Institute of Magic (Dragon's Gift: The Druid Book 1).
To recap - once again a very enjoyable Dragon's Gift series. I have to say though, that I found myself wishing the author would do something different for once. We always get a powerful woman who gets more and more powerful as the book goes on, and her (usually at least a demi-god) boyfriend who is the most powerful of his species. I would actually love to see the women with someone ordinary for once, or for all the books to be a bit more down to earth on this - not every one of course, but with every book having characters like these, it really needs something to breathe in some fresh air. I do love that it is so over-the-top, but it becomes A LOT when over-the-top is the only thing you're getting. So yeah, while I enjoyed it, I really started to wish there was something new.
Linsey Hall series are all interconnected and really are hard to review each one since they are more of a one continuous read if you skip any you will get lost since each one builds on the rest, and while I don't usually like this in a series I still would highly recommend reading her books since they are a great read. This review was originally posted on Books In Brogan
Spoilers! At the end I was like, "Oh no! Don't put your magic into a crystal", I knew right then something bad would happen! It did, but TG for Cass... Seriously this was one of the best Historical Fantasy Series I've ever read! Well, Linsey, you hooked me, I'm taking a 3 day break from my writing, and am going to catch up on the rest of the series. I'm gonna read Ana's story first in the Druid series, then im gonna read the rest of them I already own all of them I guess the Protector series is first, that being Cass' story, then Seeker, etc. Again great book 5+ stars...
I have to say picturing Mayhem in my head is always fun, seriously a dragon pug it's just funny as and her obsession with ham is hilarious.
This new set of challenges were just spectacular but when your wanting powers from the Norse gods before they gift them to you, then you really should expect to be put through your paces and boy was Bree run ragged thank goodness she had Cade by her side he is her strength.
I'm kinda wondering about Han's and his juices he seems a bit obsessed about Bree drinking them it makes me wonder what he is putting in them and yes I totally have trust issues…lol
Now that was one graphically explosive ending I just loved it way to get rid of the bad guy's.
Where to begin ! First of all as always the book is like all the others, hard to put down as you're no longer yourself, you're now in a movie watching magic and love and fear and war Secondly I loved the use of the many ancient gods and the legends and tales that surrounds them, I have studied the ancient greek, roman, horse and Babylonian God's and I loved how Linsey used them to create a new story, a fresh creation but retaining the main features of the ancient deities Thirdly I'd love to see these books turned into screen plays as I think they knock the socks off similar shows like charmed
Bree’s story comes to an end as she heads towards their battle with the rebel gods. As with any good Norse story, that means quests and trials, and she has plenty of those with her loving (and godly) companion Cade by her side.
There are so many fun adventures in this book, and I especially liked the tests that mimicked some of the most famous adventures of the Nordic gods. We do see some romance, lots of cameos from the three Firesouls series and some foreshadowing of the future series in this world.
It’s a fast paced, actioned filled, magical trip through the nine worlds in the Nordic pantheon, and a fun, fast read for the urban fantasy lover.
As we get to the end of Anna, Cade and company are searching out the Rebel gods to get them first. Yup they are still kicking butts so plenty of action and chaos and with a little help from their friends they may even succeed. I love this series and how can you not like kick butt females and the guys who love them. As they grow into their powers things are changing from their days of driving the buggy in the desert and it isn't all bad.
Great series. Loving these girls as they grown into who they are and find out more about themselves and their powers.
Bree and Ana have Rowen back, but now they have to kill the remaining Rebel Gods, only they don't even know how many there are. At least that was easy enough to find out, but the how of the rest of it? Not so much. They need to find their new stronghold, figure out their plans, and lure them into a battle on Earth. Especially when they find out their plans.... Not good for Bree and her sisters. Lots of mythology, and a good ending. With Ana's story next.
I do so love Hall's researched elements and her fantastic, clipping pace she sets her novels to. They make it easy to just eat through these books. I still maintain my pet peeve of overused descriptions but I'm beginning to think that is an unfortunate side effect of writing such fast-paced fiction. I will say though, this book had more typos than ANY of its predecessors. I'm shocked they weren't caught. Biggest faux pas was the typos of JUDY and CAROL instead of Jude and Caro in one chapter. It almost (almost) made me laugh.
Good finale! More action and adventure as Bree and her family and friends try to figure out a way to defeat the Rebel Gods before they get them. Love all the fun, quirky characters in this series, and cool magical elements! All these stories lack is emotional depth and more romance, but I’m still so entertained by these reads! Love the kick booty females, and how supportive the characters are; so many formidable people! Good to have so many awesome people on your side! Looking forward to the next series!
Bree's story end, but it isn't the end of the series
I loved this series and all the history it included, sometimes with your own spin. Each book in the series got better and was action packed with enough magic and mayhem to definitely blow your socks off. I look forward to the next sister in line to have some books written about their story. As always you've done a fabulous job keeping me entertained and taking me on adventure.
A story woven with exceptional imagination and timing. The author bringing the reader front and center into the action. You cheer for Bree and Cade to find the answers, win the fight and overcome each and every obstacle. With a few dashes of humor and a few oh hell no moments to round out the story. One of the best stories I have read in a very long time.
