Pampered and prim, Klymeni finds herself trapped on a spaceship with a man she refuses to marry. Desperate to escape, she releases a dangerous prisoner. In exchange he takes her with him. Little does she know, he has plans of his own.
He's a hardened warrior.
For Torum TaKarian, life is simple, kill or be killed. Freedom means taking whatever he wants... until he unexpectedly becomes the ruler of a kingdom on the brink of collapse. The key to his people’s future is the stubborn prissy woman who rescued him.
The line between captive and captor blurs.
When he takes her prisoner and names her his wife, she swears to hate him forever, but her own traitorous body has other ideas. It’s a battle of wills, and only one can win.
An Amazon best-selling and award-winning author, Immy writes romantic apocalypse and dystopian stories. Her books are a shade too dark to be light, and a tinge too light to be dark. They'll make you cry and worry and wonder, but there's always a layer of hope and laughter and sexy times to brighten it all.
In addition to writing, Immy loves her children, her husband, books about steam and darkness, flowers (even if she accidentally shmurgles half of them), coffee, DIY projects, trying new things, learning new facts, sunshine, guacamole, and sticky toffee pudding.
I had not read the rest of this series, so I thought that I would be lost in some way. I was really wrong. This book can easily be read as stand-alone. You really don't want to miss this book, it is a wonderful read! The dialogue between Tor and Klym is off the charts captivating. Parts of it are hilarious, caused by the fact that these two are both stubborn as all get-out. And parts of it are sad because here are two people who don't know what love really is, and they feel so strongly about each other but just can't reconcile that love with what they think their world is.
Loved the book! And highly recommend it to others, regardless of what genre you usually read. Don't be afraid to read Imogen Keeper's books, even if you aren't into space travel subject matters. This was a good read.
The Taming follows Klym and Tor, secondary characters in The Breaking. Towards the end of that book, stuck on a ship with her unwanted betrothed, Spiro, and desperate to get away from him, Klym helps the captive Tor escape in exchange for passage to a peace planet so she can return home. The Taming begins right after their escape and follows their journey; Tor trying to return to his home planet, and Klym trying to convince Tor to help her return to Argentus. Despite being enemies, their relationship quickly evolves into something more, and Tor hatches a plan that involves making Klym his wife.
I couldn’t put this book down. Keeper’s previous books have excellently constructed worlds and complex characters, and The Taming continues that trend, but it’s also the most amusing of the three. Klym and Tor had such a passionate love/hate relationship that they couldn’t help but push each other’s buttons, and it was entertaining and adorable. And individually, they both had their quirks (IE: Klym’s habit of carrying her alien plant with her everywhere and Tor’s obsession with the comfortability of the seats he sat in) that came off naturally and made them so relatable, it’s almost impossible not to connect with them.
Tor was crude and offensive, but still so charming that it comes off as endearing. He was possessive of Klym, but never forceful (pushy, sometimes yes), and all of his attributes made him one of the best heroes I’ve read in a while. He was a giant beast in obsessive love with a woman that kept rejecting him, yet he balanced his dominance out with his soft sweetness effortlessly. Klym was snooty, but uninhibited. She wasn’t accustomed to telling people ‘no’, but being with Tor brought out her ability to finally stand up for herself, and I loved watching her evolution. Admittedly, it took her longer to open up to Tor than I would’ve liked, and it unfortunately pushed her to make some stupid choices, but I never stopped liking her.
I loved it. Definitely recommend.

ARC Received from HG for a Voluntary and Honest Review.
Loved this wonderful, well written book📕! it's fun and sexy and serious, too. It's quite a bit different from typical sci-fi abduction romances! This is the first book📕 by this author I have read, and I couldn't put it down, finishing it in about 5 hours! I will go back and read the first two 📚books in the series for sure! The author has another book in the works, too. This book📕 is stand alone, and is written from dual points of view. Highly Recommend!
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book and this is my honest review/opinion. This book takes place on two differently worlds and partly in space. Klym is a woman from the planet Argentus. Her father is a commander war chief there. Many years prior, there was a plague that killed most of the women on the planet. Now there are a few hundred thousand women and millions of men. Women are used to create alliances. For this race when they bond it creates a sense of love and they are permanently mated together. Her father had given her to a man that was flying her through space along with a prisoner named Tor from the planet Vestige. These two planets had been at war for a long time. Klym did not want to bond with this man so she conspired with Tor to set him free and escape with him. They do and he takes her away. He finds out from his mother that his father and older brother, that was supposed to rule their territory on Vestige, had both died, He is now the ruler and must return. He takes Klym with him. They have an almost overwhelming desire towards each other. They fall in love but do not consummate the bond. This causes some problems for him on his home planet. This is not your typical romance novel. The planets with their different cultures are exciting to read about. The characters are also fun to read about, with their differing points of view and how different they are. I recommend it for anyone that likes Sci-Fi and some romance mixed in. It is definitely not for anyone under 18 as some of the intimate moments and language can be graphic.
Brutally handsome and handsomely brutal are different sides of the same coin of Torum's characteristics. At first, I didn't know what to think about him except brutal. I guess loud would come to mind too. But whatever it was, it was enough for Klymeni to trust him enough to give him a knife--her mortal enemy. Although the both of them had felt the consequences of the war, it wasn't their war, and maybe that was what allowed such a sheltered Argenti woman to buck against the norm. And I really did think that Tor wanted the best for her even when he first freed her. The development of their relationship was a lesson in patience. Each of them wanted the same thing, but they just didn't know how to go about getting it. Klymeni might have willing gone with Tor if he had simply explained what was happening instead of seeming like another heavy-handed male. However, that would have changed the overall plot. She realized that there was nothing for her on Argentus; she just wanted to know that she was worth more than the sum total of her womb. I don't blame her. I have read the other two books in this series, and I continue to enjoy seeing where the future takes the Vestige and Argenti. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book, and I borrowed it through the Kindle Unlimited program too.
Klymeni Merona is on a space ship heading to her new home after her father, Premier War Chief of Argentus, sold her as a bond mate. Desperate times call for desperate measures and Klym helps the prisoner on board escape so that he can help her escape. Hardened warrior Prince Torum TaKarian escapes captivity help from the beautiful Klymeni. After Tor is asked to return home to be the new king, he contacts peace seeking Senator Franno to discuss an alliance and ends up agreeing to terms for a peace treaty. Klym is furious when the handsome Tor takes her to his kingdom to be his queen but they make a deal ... if she can find someone to collect her within 20 days, he'll let her go. But if not, she's his. Tor feels happy and alive when he's with Klym and tries to convince her to give him a chance, but what happens when Klym overhears Tor admit that marrying her was a term of the peace treaty?
Imogen Keeper delivers an action-packed, suspenseful and steamy story that you won't be able to put down
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book
"Two small and insignificant people stuck together by fate. In a universe at war"...
Klymeni and Torum are from warring planets. They are supposed to be sworn enemies. When they both escape from a mutual "enemy", the two find themselves stuck with each other. Bad news from Tor's mother forces him to return home. Deciding to use Klym as a political pawn, Tor takes her with him. Will he be able to keep her safe? What happens when feelings become involved and Klym discovers the "truth"? Who can be trusted? This was the first book in this series I read. I definitely need to read the other two while I wait for the next one.
*I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book thru Hidden Gems which I am voluntarily reviewing*
Customer Review 5.0 out of 5 starsA Great Sci-fi Romance Bysewsummoreon 18 March 2018 Format: Kindle Edition I received a free ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review. A great sci-fi romance set in a new world, one planet with very few women and another planet with too many women living in harems. Just one problem, they are at war with each other, but it takes just one King to capture and enemy female and make her his Queen for peace talks to begin. This was a story with lots of drama and suspense as two lovers fight each other before succumbing to their lust for each other and peace for their people.
A wonderful book about tor and klem. Klem was promised to a man she doesnt Like and is meant to bond with him for their planet and so it makes them love each other.
She escapes and lets tor (a prisoner) Out of confinement. They escape in a pod together and go his planet. He wants her to be his queen and bond with him and refuses to.
A book about wanting to escape from a life set out for you dont want and falling in love when you expect it.
"I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
This is a great addition to the series it is the third book in the series but can easily be read as a standalone.I am really enjoying these books this was an action-packed steamy read. This is Tor and Klym's story he is a bounty hunter who has been captured and she has been sold by her father as a bonding mate. When she helps Tor escape he takes her home to his planet where he is to be king, they strike up a deal if she can get someone to come and get her in the next 20 days he will let her go if not she is to become his queen. This was a really great read.
Love everything but the heroine. I'm not sure how the others may be like in this authors books but I am upleased here. Strong heroines for this author mean suffering through one small piece of toast when you want a large slice? That's more than I get to eat ALL day and this bitch is complaining? Oh and this bitch aint stupid either. Know how I know? “I’m not stupid.” She wasn’t." Character and author both told us so in that direct quote from the book. Might expand on this later as i'm only on page 53 of 313
I blew through this in less than twenty-four hours because I couldn't put it down! The budding relationship of toleration, frustration, addiction, and love between Klym and Tor create the perfect amount of belly fluttering tension from start to finish. The world is unique and well described, the plot captivating. Though I haven't read the second book in the series, I wasn't lacking anything in book three. However, as soon as I push submit on this review, I will be ordering book two!
Klym is a proper lady yet her father sells her off. Torum is a prisoner and Klym decides to help him escape so that she can go with him. When Torum arrives back at his ship he learns that his father and brother are dead and now he is King and he plans of keeping Klym. This is a fast paced read with plenty of drama. The story is entertaining with great characters and steamy sex. I really liked it.
Klym is the type of heroine I seek in a good read Witty - intelligent - a touch naïve - very strong willed 😂 some of the scenes are to die for And Tor a bit dark and brooding on the outside but lots of marshmallow goodness on the inside This had it all adventure - suspense - angst - hijinks - that slow build romance that draws you in This was my first book in the series , looking forward to starting at the beginning
I received an ARC of this story through Hidden Gems and this is my honest and voluntary review. I am all about sexy alpha males, whether human, alien, or some other paranormal! However, this story was a bit of a slow starter for me and I struggled to get through the first third of the book. I got really pulled in once Klymeni and Torum got to Vesta and practically devoured the book from there! Pretty decent read overall.
DROPPED. Wasn't bad, but I couldn't seem to engage with the story and found myself skimming. The heroine...was definitely naive and sheltered to the point where some of her actions made me question "how smart is she?"
If this isn't your first alien sci-fi rodeo, know that this didn't stand out in comparison with the rest of its own genre.
Safe for a quickie read, but nothing you'll remember after the moment is gone.
I felt for Klym. She was put into a tough situation and realized just how much of a pawn she really was for her father. Standing up was difficult, and the first time she did it, someone was injured (events from book 2) But Tor's own family is nothing to write home about. Betrayals, murders, and political intrigue. For two stubborn people, forgiveness and compassion are hard to come by
Amazing book. Very entertaining, captivating, and interesting read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong characters. I want to read more from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I love this series, and this book was everything I have come to expect from Imogen Keeper. I love the complex characters in this one. Tor is an alpha-male, and one of those characters who you think you shouldn't like, because of how he acts, but you can't help but be attracted to. Klym is a sheltered virgin, who never stood up for herself, until she did. Desperation can lead you to take risks and sometimes those risk will give you a huge reward. I loved the action, adventure, twists and turns, and hot steamy passion in this story. The plot flows perfectly, the characters are complex and relate-able, and the ending is fabulous. The length of the story makes it possible to have a slow build up in the relationship and I love the natural flow from enemies to lovers. I know this book has a sci-fi feel, but you don't have to be a fan of that genre to enjoy this one. I think any romance lover would be quickly pulled into the story, and fall in love with it just like I did.
What happens when an innocent Argenti female mates an alpha Vestige Prime? 🔥🔥🔥
I really enjoyed The Taming, So I have to thank Hidden Gems for the ARC, and for turning me on to a cool new author. I loved that this book is a two-for - it's an all-aliens interplanetary political thriller and a red-hot inter-species alien romance too. And both storylines are expertly interwoven with balance and finesse by the imaginative Ms, Keeper, who also does a fine job of character development, world-building, and writing steamy sex scenes. The blurb sets the story up well, so no need to reiterate, and I won't write spoilers, so I will only say that the trip to HEA is a long, frustrating and occasionally humorous ride. Just believe me when I say this is first rate writing and world-class entertainment; also, this is a voluntary and independently written review.
This book was so well written it kept me captivated for 24 hours until I finished it. Tor and Klym had such chemistry from the beginning until the exciting ending. True love and happiness. I highly recommend this book
