Lucy loves her life more than any man. Alex lives in two worlds, a master in both.
Danger and Death brings them together. City versus Country.
Lucy Winters has created her life out of the ashes of her birth. Because Randi, the sister of her heart needs her, she leaves behind her home in the slick, urban landscape of South Florida and journeys to the farmland of North Florida. There, she trades her stilettos for work boots bought in a farm store, of all places. Roosters instead of an alarm clock in the morning and no latte become the new start of her day.
Alex Weston is a third generation farmer. He works the land he loves and respects. Yet, he enjoys all the glamour and glitz of the urban landscape. Fine dining, handmade suits and traveling when the mood strikes top his list of pleasures.
Instead of choosing between the worlds open to him, he makes a place for himself in both.
Suddenly, Death comes calling again. For the first time in her life, Lucy realizes she is not alone. Alex stands beside her, guarding her back.
A new life, a man she can trust offers her an unexpected future. Can Lucy embrace the Fire or continue to play the game she has enjoyed for so long?

The continuing saga in the Live Oak Series has a really good story-line. This book features the love story between Lucy and Alex. It also keeps the reader abreast on the other couple from the previous book and actually begins exactly where the first book leaves off. So, in the interest of clarity you will really need to read the first book before the second and even the third.
Here are some of the excerpts and quotes that I found interesting and, hopefully, do not contain any spoilers.
"The first time he had met Lucy Winters was when she had driven from South Florida to Live Oak in response to her own worry about Randi’s safety."
"Alex reminded her of a golden stallion, all sleek muscles and arrogance Lucy could easily picture Alex as a CEO of a Fortune 500 company. Instead, he was a farmer."
“I plan on feeding him carrots every morning just to say thank you for giving me a future,” Randi put in. “I’ll cut them up for you. I’ll even hold the bag but no way are my fingers getting anywhere near that animal’s teeth,” Lucy added.
Even though it begins at the end of the last book it does have it's own twists and turns as well as a new danger facing the couple further into the story.
What is unusual about this series that that it includes the old characters from the previous book and introduces new ones that will play a major role in future books. It is kind of like a continuing story you would see on TV. Follow along and see what happens.
This book is the second in the Live Oak Series, with Chase The Fire being about Archer and Randi. This novel is about a second couple, Alex and Lucy, who were a large part of the first book. Their story is different from Archer and Randi. These two people have a lot of conflict which they have to overcome. Plus, Lucy tries to fight the farmer's life but it seems to be a losing battle. Will she be able to keep her shoe stores and lattes intact or will she become a real "cowgirl?" Only by reading this book will you find out. I have been sworn to secrecy by both Alex and Lucy. So go to amazon or kindle to get your copy. You won't be disappointed.
I loved Lucy and Randi's friendship in the first book and it just got better in the second book. Lucy is a strong, take care of herself girl. She needs no man to take care of her, but along comes Alex and his sights are set on Lucy. Lucy is a big city girl trying to love a small town and there are plenty of laugh out loud moments. With Alex's help they find the perfect compromise. The sexy steam gets a little more steamy with some hot cowboys thrown in! I just loved this second book in the series and can't wait for more!
I fell in love with Lucy right off the bat. In addition, to be witty and smart, and sometimes downright funny, I found her courage under fire to be amazing. And her devotedness to her long-time friend, Randi, from Book One, tells all about her character. As these two friends strive to protect each other from shadows that reach out to hurt them, while making great changes in their lives is very inspirational. I loved this book and can hardly wait to read book three!
Another excellent read by Lacey Dancer. This is the second book in her newest series and I can’t wait to read more. Lucy going to help her friend who is the sister of her heart reminds us all of the relationship we have with our besties. Alex shows her she can have it all, straddling both worlds confidently while having her back when she needs it. She may have changed her life for her friend but all the benefits of that choice prove it was a change for the best.
The story line was interesting and watching the characters grow and learn was good as well. Have been a Lacy Dancer fan since I found Diamond on ice. Love this series as well
