I had this book (series) on my kindle since forever - I found it a long time ago on my quest of "what to read after FSOG" - so I read the now "older" version with the stone title.

Not sure what changed from there to the new one but this series is a contradiction from one page to the next. There was so much strange stuff going on that it was not only enough for more books but honestly TOO MUCH for one series.

I have never read a series where so much of similar stuff happened to the leading characters.

The whole series is like a huge mix match / best of-of all things I have read a while ago ... I was actually starting to puzzle different books together - like when the part with the race team came I was waiting to hear him say "I race you" just to add K. Bromberg's Driven to the list ...

It was over the top from beginning to end ... and here comes the surprise -

I could not put the book down ...

from what you read here so far you might think that I would end in a DNF with this one - yet I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN .. I was sort of almost annoyed with myself but #shrugs ... I liked it ... and I am unable to explain it ... Inbetween everything there was still something that grabbed my attention and stuck ... - so debating forward and backward with myself I go with 3 stars and will leave it up to you to make up your mind about this ...

Maybe it’s my cynical nature but after reading Stone Shattered I was prepared to hate Stone Unhinged no matter how good it was…but it was pretty damn good!

We pick up not too long after the shocking events of book 1 and Mallory is on the mend. Heart and body broken she is looking for a way to forget the man that taught her how to love and then stepped all over her heart. She gets an amazing opportunity which—of course—brings Alex back in her life. I have to say I was pretty pissed at Alex and I wanted her to make him work for it, but a broken heart plus tragedy equals doing whatever you can to stop the pain.

But immediately I was worried that Samantha would be a problem. I mean she was kind of problem before but now she had a lot more to lose. Then the letters start again and I had chills. To say the mystery was a surprise to me would be a complete understatement but…it was also somehow perfect. It provided that ‘will they or won’t they’ that drives any great drama.

And the sex…well just have a change of underwear handy and maybe a cool cloth before they get started. They are hot and kinky and so full of love you’ll be eager to try them out…I assume.  Alex grew on me in this story, a lot. He was open with his emotions and unafraid to choose Mallory no matter what. That is the kind of guy I’d lay across a whipping bench for!

The mystery in Stone Unhinged was a bit more under the surface but I think it made things a bit more frightening. Mallory’s fear was palpable especially considering all that she had been through. I enjoyed this story so much I read it all in one day—work be damned!—and now I’m curious to see what happens next.

Usually, sequels aren’t as good as the original. Would that be the same for this book?
‘Stone Unhinged’ is the second book in the series about Alex and Mallory. Alex is an attractive billionaire and Mallory the woman, and submissive, who falls for him. Reading back my review of book one, ‘Stone Shattered’, I remembered liking the book even though the suspense was harsh and a lot.
In Stone Unhinged, Mallory gets to travel to England where her former lover Alex now resides. They meet at a charity event, and their attraction is still there. Their romance hits off where they left it, and soon it’s loving and intense.
The love scenes are described with lots of fervour, and I enjoyed reading every one of them. The BDSM in the book is also described well though the switches into the BDSM mindset are sometimes too abrupt. In general, the romance in this book is somewhat exaggerated and usually larger than life, but I decided to take that for granted. I allowed myself to be swept away by the gorgeous hunk Alex, and I found it difficult to put the book down.
The suspense in this book is more subtle than in book one, and I did not see this coming.
Overall this is a very pleasant read, and I would certainly recommend it to lovers of the romance and BDSM genre.

Stone Unhinged picks up where Stone Shattered left off, and is hot right from the word go. Mallory is still getting over the (spoilery!) events of the first book, when she’s offered the chance to travel to Europe for her job. Despite some misgivings, she accepts and is soon caught up in more steamy romance and exciting intrigue.

I thought this book was even better than the first one in the series – Alex seemed a more well-rounded character, and the suspense plot had me guessing the whole way through, with skillful red herrings and potential stalkers popping up all over the place. Alex and Mallory’s love affair was even better this time around, now that their feelings are established and they have to work together to overcome all the obstacles that stand in their way.

The descriptions in the book were, as always, lush and vivid, and the sex was steamy. The ending was completely satisfying… and I can’t wait to see what the author pulls out of the bag for the last book of the series.

Great storyline, great characters, great work.

I received an advance copy in return for an honest review, and am very pleased I said yes!

Hmmm... For me this book brings about mixed emotions. The plot twists were a little predictable, and I thought she gave into him too easily at times. The sex was a bit too much in this book as well. I had a hard time with the fact that she is quick to forgive ALL from everyone.

Alex's secret was along the lines of what I thought it was. I like the drama it created and how they seemed to grow past it. His mother baffled me when things went down, it's like she did a 180. I understand it but it came across a little harsh.

All in all it was a good book, I preferred the first one so far. I hope that the last book has a better story like and it all ends well for everyone!!!

I just want to say that I really enjoyed the first book, Stone Shattered, but this one really missed the mark for me. I feel that there was very little plot here and too much sex. I found myself skipping through the sex scenes and that is strange for me to do because I really enjoy steamy sex scenes. Besides the sex it was just exclamations of love which would be nice but there just wasn't that much more going on that those two things. I really hate to give a bad review but this book just left me wanting more plot and more well-rounded characters.

Make You Mine is the 2nd book is The Stone Trilogy by Renee Harless. It is a continuation series, so make sure you read Make Me Yours first.

After everything that happened in Make Me Yours...Mellony finds herself in need of a change. Her job offers her such a change, but that job also puts her in the very same country as Alex. It's a big enough country, she figures she's safe from ever running into him again. However, of course, fate has to interfere, and that is not the case. However, this time it is Mellony with the potential time restraint regarding their relationship. Ultimately, Mellony decides to give the relationship with Alex another try. Shortly after...the threats they thought were eliminated are back. Who could be responsible this time? Is it someone different? Is it someone working with the threats from book #1?? Again, is it related to Alex, or more to do with Mellony herself?

My only real complaint about this book is that the threats from book #1 and this one, were nearly the same. The same thing essentially happened.

Renee was good, again, about keeping us in the dark as to who the threat was and the reasoning behind it. And I felt horrible for Mellony after the way she was treated afterwards...thankfully Alex remained loyal to her and stayed by her side.

This book probably lands in the 3.5-4 star range...eager to see what book #3 brings us!

This was the second book in the Stone series and left off where the first book ended. While I adored the first book I did have some mixes feeling about this story. Mallory is still a favorite character of mine because she has endured so much and is desperately trying to overcome her traumas. The story continues and while it has its twists and turns, it felt more rushed to the situations and drama as it seemed to have more more sex scenes between Mallory and Alex. Alex did open up more and begin to share more of himself, which did made me happy. I am looking forward to see how this story continues.

This one is mostly about Mallory and what she needs to overcome to continue her journey, and where she ends up. Lots of steam and BDSM scenes that are thoroughly described. A good continuation...now where is the author taking us on this journey!!

Adult Contemporary Erotic Romance
This book was given to me for an honest review
As in book one, the heroine and hero are Mallory
Winston and Alex Stone. Mallory is recovering from what
happened in Stone Shattered and Alex comes back into the
picture.
While Mallory is dealing with events of the past she is
offered a new position, to head up a new office in England.
She of course takes the job, because she would be a fool not to.
That brings Alex back into her life, but all is not sunny and
roses. They have a lot to get through in order to have their
happily ever after. Mallory is not the same person she was
before the events in book one occurred and she has a lot of
healing to do. They do work things out and decide to start
over. While they are trying to work on their relationship,
Mallory picks up a stalker. A continuation from the first or
perhaps a new one? I’ll never tell, but it wasn’t who I thought
it was. I will tell you, we find out Alex’s secret and they do get
their happily, but whether it’s “ever after” or “for now”
remains to be seen. The book ends on yet another cliffhanger.
I liked this book even more than the first installment.
When reading this book, it seemed, to me at least, that the
author has gained confidence and grown as a story teller. The
story transitions seamlessly and as a reader you are quickly
pulled into the story. Even, my “first-person phobic self”
didn’t notice the “I, I, I” half the time, kudos on that one Ms.
Harless. Yes, of course, I awarded bonus points for that.
Mallory, although suffering some serious PTSD, is still
strong, sweet, and adventurous. She stands up for herself more
in this story than the last and kicks serious ass.
Alex is back and more likable. Don’t get me wrong, he
still has that hair-trigger temper and opens his mouth and says
stupid stuff, but he is also more kind, loving, and humble.
That’s right ladies and gents, I said the “h” word. Giving up
the love of your life will do that to a man.
The list of secondary characters grows in Unhinged,
however, they do not take anything away from the story or the
main hero and heroine. They move effortlessly in and out of
the story and add depth and conflict.
Oh, and last but certainly not least, the sex scenes are as
hot and steamy as ever with more BDSM. There is an actual
dungeon-like playroom. That’s right, a playroom, complete
with spanking bench, St. Andrews Cross, and a special little
chair with stirrups. You know what I’m talking about ladies.
All I can say is, stirrups work nicely in a dungeon and Ms.
Winston had a ton more fun than any of us ever had when our
feet were in those things.

4.5 stars! Virtual high five and fist bump Ms. Harless
for the love, violence, cliffhanger, and for devising a way to
make “putting your feet in New York and California” not such
a bad thing after all.

4.5 stars. This is the 2nd installment in a trilogy about a seemingly cursed love between a Dominant and his submissive. Book 2 really shined for me. I liked it even better than book 1. Mallory is struggling to bounce back from a tragic event and a broken heart. In this struggle she finds the backbone I felt she was missing in book 1. That made me like her much better and made the story more enjoyable to me. This was my main criticism of book 1- Mal seemed weak and a pushover. I found myself cheering for her as she found her strength in the face of very difficult times. In book 1, I also struggled a little with the formality of the way Mal and Alex interacted. That fell away in this installment. I noticed it every once in a while but generally it felt natural. Maybe it just took me longer to meld with this couple than usual. Or possibly it was that Mal was a little stronger and Alex was more subdued. Either way it flowed more naturally. Once again, the story was a thrill ride. Lots of mystery, intrigue and twists along the way plus lots (and lots and lots) of sex. This author is very skilled at writing both kinky and vanilla sex scenes and an in making you believe the emotional connection in and outside the bedroom (and dungeon). It's a good thing- considering how many of these scenes are In the book. I enjoyed book 1 but I really connected with book 2 and I almost couldn't stand to put it down. It was a great story. There was only one ridiculous part. After the big climatic traumatic event of the book they went out to eat! I don't want to give it away but this is like MAJOR and they left the scene and went out to eat! I was like WTH? Maybe it's an English thing? Lol. Great job, Mary. I'm excitedly starting book 3 now.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. These books definitely need to be read in order: Stone Shattered, Stone Unhinged, Stone Mended.

Stone Unhinged (The Stone Series Book 2)
Written By Renee Harless
Genre: Erotica Romance

Stone Unhinged picks up where Stone Shattered left us. Alex has returned back to England and Mallory is trying to recover from events that happened in the first book. She accepts a job to move to England to head up her department. Nervous about running into Alex, she takes the job anyway.

This book was much better for me than the first one. I still didn’t connect that well with Mallory. I feel that she is way too manipulated to be the strong character that I think they author was trying to make her. I know for her to get through what she has gone through a weak person couldn’t do that, but there were to many things that would happen or that would be said that contradicted that to me. The flow of the writing is still on par with the first book. You have a lot of the same characters coming back in this story so their storylines of course continue.

One thing that I do have to say is that I did NOT see what happen, happen. I was shocked and that is saying something because Ms. Harless shocked me in the first book and I kept looking for that same thing and it wasn’t what I thought. I have to commend an author that can keep me in the dark for so long on something. This was a fast easy read for me and overall it was a pretty good book. I look forward to checking out the final book of the series and see if Mallory and Alex are able to get their happily ever after.

I have to say I’m not a fan of first person POV (point of view) because it is so hard to do it well without sounding redundant. However Renee Harless does it well while keeping the story engaging and the images vivid.
I have not read the first in the series but after this will read to catch up.
I read the genera all the time, and hope that in the author’s next book she goes a little more into the psychological aspects of BDSM.
With all that being said, the love scenes are sensual and the book is worth the time to read.

Another great read by this author. I have to say that Mallory and Alex do not lead a boring life. The second book starts off with Mallory's issues after the occurrence with Seth in the first book. All at once, her life changes with a new job promotion where Alex lives. She doesn't expect to see him since England is a huge place, but of course, she does. They definitely have a one of a kind love. Just when everything seems perfect, a certain someone sends out threats before kidnapping her. (Not revealing who) Mallory is definitely a strong woman to face that kind of fear twice. It causes turmoil in the Stone family, but they eventually learn to cope. Such a great read. I'm looking forward to the third book!
