Dirty Cowboys #1

Inheriting the Virgin

Rate this book
I inherited my boss's ranch, and his niece comes with the territory.

James

From the moment I saw her, Kate got under my skin. She's feisty, pretty, and her body is hotter than the fireworks in July.

But I find out her late uncle Hank left his ranch to both of us.

There's just one catch: we both have to live at Hank's homestead for at least six months to get our share of the inheritance. After that, half of Hank's ranch is mine.

I soon find out that the two of us under one roof isn't just hot, it's combustible.

I'll have a hard time keeping my hands off her, but come hell or high water, I plan to take what's supposed to be mine.

Author's Note: Inheriting the Virgin is a standalone, novella-length western romance with enough steam, sass, and sin to melt your kindle.

This was a fun read. It was short but very steamy. I love me an alpha cowboy and this was it. Both characters were well written. I loved how strong the female lead was. She was a virgin, but she was fisty and took no sh*t.

Tge story line was well done and the steam level is high. Two amazing authors coming together to create an awsome story. I love it and will look forward to any more stories they write!

Amazing little southern story of loss and love! I wish I could’ve gotten some more background info on katie like what made her so guarded but I did like her sass! James is the perfect cowboy! A huge gentleman and always helping those he is close with! You do learn about him and why he’s so guarded and I loved his willingness to open himself up even if he didn’t always do it correctly haha! A great enemies to lovers story!

Bella Lovewins and Joanna Blake worked together to write a sensational cowboy romance full of insta-lust, insta-love , angst and passion. This is James and Kate’s love story.
James has been living on the ranch for 10 years and is like a son to Hank. They have been each other’s family , there for one another thru thick and thin and James is surprised he is left half the ranch after Hank dies. Hank’s niece and only living relative named Kate is left the other half of the ranch. Hank wants them together so he wrote his will so that they spend the next 6 months together , expecting them to live and run the ranch together to determine if they keep the ranch. It is on to see who breaks and who will stay. There are moments when they actually get along but then there are moments that you think they will never make it. James is a very nice guy who is as straight forward as they come. He is honest and hardworking; Kate is sassy and speaks her mind. She loves the ranch after she gets there and doesn’t want to leave. There is this instant chemistry between these two. Will they make it or will they throw the towel in? Only way to find out is read this fantastic new book by two of my favorite authors.

This is an amusing, sweet and occasionally steaming hot romance.
It is nice to watch how a grumpy and tight-lipped yet quite dominating cowboy turnes into a caring and passionate man and how a bitchy woman turns into a loving and devoted one!
I liked this short romance and the alliance from Bella Love- Wins and Joanna Blake!

Cowboy.

Enjoyable story. I will say I think they spent too much time apart for me to actually see real feelings though. They would go weeks without talking and didn't actually interact very much. And I wished the time jumps were pointed out a little better. The over all story was good though and I did like the characters. Specially her because she was feisty and he was a little slow on the up take but finally figure out what he wanted. Good story with a nice ending. Loved the cover.

I didn't like either of the main characters, and saw no reason for them to be together. No chemistry. He was a bit of an ass, and she was for too young to be such a shrew. Neither really showed any interest in fighting for the other.

This novella had a few issues.
1. There were some weird time jumps. I’d be reading and what should be happening the next day happens three months later. I’d have to go back and reread a few pages to figure out what just happened and where the story was in terms of timeline.
2. The ending. James and Kate were supposed to live together for six months on the ranch in order to receive their inheritance and by the end of the six months after sleeping together twice and being at odds, they aren’t talking. James walks into the lawyers office and gives the ranch and everything to Kate and she doesn’t say a damn thing. Only then does the lawyer give them letters written by the dead uncle. There was nothing in these letters that should’ve gotten them back together (oh I hope you take care of each other – Uncle Hank) and yet she runs back to James all weepy ready to fall back into bed.
3. The epilogue. Just no. 5 months later they are married and pregnant. I don’t care, I hope they are miserable together. The epilogue was unneeded. This might’ve been 2 stars without the epilogue.
4. So what that she’s a virgin. The only time I appreciate a heroine being a virgin in a romance novel is when the hero is very alpha and wants to own her because no one else has touched her. This was just like she’s mine now (but not that growly alpha ‘you’re mine’ possessiveness) but we’re only going to have sex twice in six months and I maybe want something more.

This book gets 1 star for the cat otherwise this wouldn’t even get one star.

Kate has been called into town to hear her uncles will. After not seeing her uncle for years she expects to maybe get a dresser or a horse. The last thing she expected was to inherit a ranch and...James!

James saw Kate and knew that she would be his. While he knew that she would end up in his bed he never expected that she was his dearly departed bosses niece or that he would be forced to stay in her company.

What started as a six month obligation turned into so much more when passion sparks between James and Kate. Want to know how it ends?....Read and find out!

I voluntarily read an advanced review copy of this book

I really liked that this was not an instant romance. James definitely wants Kate but she is fighting tooth and nail to stay very far away from everything that he had to offer. Now while I loved the heat between the couple... I kind of felt like if this book had a theme song it would be Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold". It was a lot of I want you...but because my communication skills suck...I'm going to ignore you until somehow you figure it out...

Overall this was a pretty good book for a very good price. I like change in authors in this series it helps to keep things fresh.

**Received an ARC for my honest review**

I'm not a lot into short stories but this one was worth it.

After Hank passed away he left the Ranch to James and Kate. Hank took James in and he worked on the Ranch for 10 years, he was like a son to Hank. Hank was Kate's uncle and he left his Ranch to both Kate and James on one condition, they must stay together on the Ranch for 6 months.

Oh boy just thinking about how these two are going to work things out when sharing the Ranch and the house together made me laugh, especially the way they met the first time. It was Kate against James (the brute as she like to call him). You see James was as forward as you can get and very flirty and Kate was a-take-no-nonsense kind a girl.

I must tell you these two made me laugh throughout the book. They were funny as hell, but they also hat their share of bad times. My heart ached for James. There was one incident where I felt like strangling Kate but you have to read the book to find out why.

The ending was sweet and short but still beautiful.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. This was a great sexy and steamy read. I loved Kate and James. They meet outside an office neither knowing they are headed for the same place. James is very flirty with Kate when she bends down to pick up the coins she dropped for the parking meter. Kate is not happy about what just happened and tells James off. Minutes later they meet again while waiting for the meeting neither is aware the other will also be attending. When they find out hey are both to inherit the ranch Kate's uncle owned and James works on Kate is furious. The two must live on the ranch together for six months at the end they each own half the ranch. This is a fast paced read full humor, chemistry, lust and even anger at times. The two are clearly attracted to one another and yet they both know how to much the other's buttons. I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down. The attraction these two have for one another is so hot and steamy. I loved the HEA and highly recommend this book.

Frustrating

I love a little angst but this was just not good for me. I enjoyed the spitfire chemistry the two had and really felt it had potential. Authors did a good job of building the setting and the workings of the ranch. The chemistry just doesn’t go anywhere and then they just skip weeks and months in the timeline with nothing in between or any delving into the characters and we are supposed to believe people go three months living in the same space without speaking. The characters don’t develop. I can understand not knowing how to communicate well but this just took it to a level that made no sense. I wound up skimming to see how it ends and that wraps up well. I really do like these authors and will read them again. I had been excited to read this but it felt like a misstep to me and I was disappointed. It is quick tho and it’s certainly hot so it’s got that going for it.

Save A Horse...

Talk about some feisty happenings on this ranch in Texas!
Woo!
Bella Lovewins and Joanna Blake worked together to bring us a saucy fireworks display of insta-lust and insta-haste and confusion when it comes to James and Kate!
James is all alpha male stubborn farmhand who had been with Kate's Uncle on his ranch til he'd passed away when the Uncle leaves the sprawling ranch to both James and his only living relative and just as stubborn niece, Kate. The war of words, lust and feels between them is a brilliant sandstorm of debauchery you cannot help but want to read!
This shorty is not really " short" on much of anything! I loved every maddening filthy fun, awe moment!
These two authors made a magnificent pairing!
If you're on the lookout for something quick with a guilty pleasure, sweet, drama induced feel and an HEA, this is the book for you!

A quick steamy read about a rancher, James, who inherits half a ranch where he has worked & lived for over a decade. The other half went to the niece, Kate, and now they have to live together and run the ranch for 6 months, according to the will. Their first meeting wasn’t pleasant for Kate & the 6 months was hot & cold between them. What happens when the six months is up ?
A great short steamy read with a cowboy who loves to drive the woman crazy. I didn’t really warm up to Kate till later in the story because I didn’t like how she treated James in the beginning and then I didn’t like how James treated her, ignoring and avoiding her, like he used her for his own gain. Otherwise it was a great story to read during a break or before bed with an ending to make you smile.

James and Kate have been thrown together by a legal clause set up in Kate's uncles will. They need to live together for 6 months in order to receive their inheritance.

I have to admit, I liked James right off the bat. He was a hardworking, fun, charming, honorable flirt of a man. When he saw something he liked, he wasn't ashamed to say it. Was it crass or crude, yes to an extent but it was his way of flirting.

It took me awhile to like Kate. She was so prickly at the beginning. She may not have liked the forwardness of James but she treated him like he was that worst kind of man. It just seemed so extreme. She warmed up to me when she warmed up to James but yet they had this push/pull going on.

I did feel like the ending came a little abruptly. I get what the author was going for but I wish it was just a little more drawn out.

Oh, the threads of love that can be woven from the grave. When Kate, Hank's niece and last living relative, and James, the man who is like a son to Hank and has been working on his ranch for the last decade, both arrive to the lawyer's office to talk about Hank's will, they are both in for a surprise. He left his ranch to both of them in equal shares, but they have to both live and work rhe ranch together for 6 months first. There is definitely lots of chemistry between them, but that chemistry sometimes causes heat in multiple ways. I really enjoyed reading this book. One of my favorite parts was when James was being the "shirtless wonder". Yes, you will have to read it yourself. I am not giving away more than that. I voluntarily reviewed this advance copy, and I highly recommend it.

Wow this is a nice quick steamy story about Katie and James. James has been living on the ranch for 10 years and is like a son to Hank. They have been there for one another and James is surprised he is left half the ranch after he passes. Kate, Hank’s niece and his only living family is left the other half. Hanks throws them together expecting them to live and run the ranch together for 6 months to determine if they keep the ranch. There are moments where they get along and then others where they are at each other. James is an honest hard working rancher and Katie is a bit straightforward and finding she likes living on the ranch. Can these two find a way to co-exist or will one walk away from their share of the ranch? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

This was a sweet and sassy story from Bella and Joanna. James is your typical alpha that takes what he wants but has no other ideas on how to express himself. Kate is a virgin but she is NOT naive. She is sassy and independent. These two but heads and come together quite passionately. Sexy quick read that will melt your heart a little. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

This was an okay read. It is pretty short, and the story skips ahead. James and Kitty meet, and find out about the will. You get some story, and then it skips ahead 3 months, then a couple of weeks, and then another few months. James was sort of a jerk, and Kitty was back and forth with how she treated him. I'm trying to give James the benefit of the doubt, since he didn't have parents, but his thought process was crazy. Like "I would give her all she wanted, as long as she stayed true to me and didn't talk too much." Really?! It was just hard for me to like these 2 as a couple. This is a first for me from these authors together, but I would be willing to give them another read.

This is James and Kate's short story. I think this would have made a great novel. The times skips and leaves alot unsaid. There both kinda of wishy washy with there feelings. James has a hard time communicating what he's feeling and comes off acting like a bit of a jerk. Kate is confused and hurt. I enjoyed the story. I really liked the letters and the ending of the story. I just wished I would have seen them interacting a little more. Felt a bit more of a connection. But I do love these 2 authors so I will definitely be reading there books again.

“...life with a gruff cowboy…” 2.5 stars

Uncle Hank’s Rocking Horse Ranch is willed to his niece and ranch foreman. But there’s one stipulation. Kate Sheridan and James Longhorn have to live and run the ranch for six months before gaining ownership.

What ensues is both parties trying to deny the attraction between them. So that translates into lots of bickering and miscommunication. So by the time a declaration of love comes around I just wasn’t convinced. Reads like a Harlequin Romance. Predictable plot with little chemistry and staid dialogue just left this story flat for me. Inheriting the Virgin by Joanna Blake and Bella Love-Wins was a cute romance to while away an afternoon. I am a big fan of both authors and they always deliver sweet sexy reads.

Kate is a waitress who doesn't much care for cocky guys to only want seem to want in her pants. She is in town for the reading of her uncle's will. James has lost his boss; the man was like a father to him. He came to town to hear about the will. The bonus is the pretty little thing he spots on his way. He flirts and the sparks start flying. Kate cannot believe the nerve of the gorgeous cowboy trying to charm his way under her skirt. Then things get real interesting when Kate discovers she has inherited her uncle's ranch with James. How can this possibly end well?

James is cute, cocky and clueless when it comes to women. Kate doesn't trust guys who so openly flirt. Now because of her uncle's will they have to live on the ranch together. Things heat up and then quickly fall apart because neither of them know what the heck they are doing. I wish this part had been longer instead of the beginning. I would have liked to see the relationship develop. But having a feisty heroine and a clueless hero made for a fun read and I hope this duo of Blake and Love-Wins bring us more delightful sexy romances.

James has been working with Hank for the past ten years, so when James inherits half of the farm after Hank dies, he finds out that the other half was given to his niece Kate. A clause in the will states that the pair must work together for at least six months, living and working together, to determine who can keep their half of the ranch. When James meets Kate, the attraction is almost immediate but the fiery and sassy woman is enough to drive him nuts. When passion sparks between the pair, will it be enough to keep them together? Or will one of them break their arrangement and lose everything?

Joanna Blake and Bella Love Wins teaming up together is perfection.
Inheriting the virgin is a fantastic 4 star novella that will keep you highly entertained.
These two have a great way with words and work so well together.
James and Kate wow their chemistry was electrifying.
I loved their banter and their love/hate relationship.
If only they listened to their hearts instead of their heads things would have worked out a lot quicker but it was fun reading their journey.

This was such a fun read and I loved the characters they just draw you right into the story. James and Kate are so stubborn and tease each other at all times and you have to laugh at them in some parts but when their together whoa they are super hot together and fit perfectly. Each one with their own issues of belonging somewhere are pushed into a situation that they have to accept and suck it up by the deceased Hank owner of the ranch, I loved how he thought ahead and really enjoyed his personal letters to each one. A fast and steamy little story about two opposites who inherit a farm and have to figure out a way to coexist while running the place...and of course it doesn't help that they are both hot for each other while feuding. I enjoyed the cute and sassy banter back and forth as well as the foreplay which I think is hotter than the actual sex itself!
A sweet and romantic story that has a bit of drama and angst but is mostly just fun and playful and not too complicated. I loved it!

Sweet quick read!

This book was very quick to read and I really enjoyed it! James is a gruff cowboy who came from a lonely past as an orphan. The only family he knew was the man who he worked for. When he passed and left half the ranch to James and his niece Kate, they are in for a bumpy ride. Kate is all alone in this world now too and needs something permanent in her life. She just wasn’t expecting James. They have instant sparks and some steamy times. Definitely an author I will read more of!
