It doesn’t matter if you only have a window sill with a pot plant on it, a small city terrace, a playing field or several acres, you can always work with the magic in your garden. The kitchen extends into the garden anyway and a Kitchen Witch will often be found pottering around in amongst the plants. Kitchen Garden Magic is the second in a series of books which delves into the world of the Kitchen Witch. Each book breaks down the whys and wherefores of the subject and includes practical guides and exercises. Other titles include Spells and Charms, Altars & Rituals and The Elements.
This honestly is more a general gardening book than a magic book. If you already have gardening knowledge and want to incorporate magic, this is probably not for you. It would make an interesting reference book, with its lists of meanings, etc, but it's mainly ideas rather than anything concrete in the way of magic.
You know the feeling you get when you hold a great book in your hands and just absorb phrase after phrase, information after information until the very last page is turned and you feel like you are left with the hunger for more more more?
Well, this book unfortunately was the exact opposite.
The information and the writing were sadly mostly flat.
If you are a total beginner in gardening and witchcraft - I would still feel kind of sad in recommending this as a ‘good starter lecture’. ( I don’t need a “Garden Magic” book to tell me that birds nest on trees and in shrubs, to name an example.)
Most of the information you could simply google or look up in other sources (which she refers to too, btw.).
So, yes. If you want a book with some quick suggestions in how to build your garden space - go for it. But for the botanical and magickal sake of gathering informations, I would recommend you indeed google for some more informative options.
