For the past 19 years, Grace Andren has mourned the death of her young daughter, Andrea. It was only through her passion for writing poetry that she was able to express her grief—opening a floodgate of emotions. Joy. Sorrow. Anger. Love.

Her poetic journey through the grieving process is contained within her book, Speaking In Tears. Through her words, and their black and white photographic representation, she takes the reader from sorrow to hope.

“But moving forward is not letting go because we take our loved ones with us.” —Grace Andren

**Emotional Journey Through Pain, Loss, Sorrow, and Hope.**

This book took me on a beautiful journey through the author's words. I would tell anyone and everyone they should get this book! The photographic portion so fit with the authors words and represented the tone and meaning so well. I could tell when the grief was so poignant and when it evolved to acceptance with each step taken through her words. This book of poetry was simply exquisite.

I was interested in Speaking In Tears: The Poetry In Grief as soon as I saw the title and I wasn’t sure at first if I was going to pick it up when I started reading the synopsis, but when I got the end and it talked about how if you’ve experienced a loss and are grieving, Ms. Andren’s book might help you through it and that appealed to me. I lost two of my beloved animals this year and I’m mostly okay, but I thought it might be nice to read something where even though our grieving process is different, I could have someone to share my grief with even if it was only for a little while. Speaking In Tears: The Poetry In Grief was heartbreaking, beautiful, and moving. It made me cry more than once and Ms. Andren made me appreciate those tears in a new way that I hadn’t before and I’m glad for that. This poetry collection was so meaningful and if you’re also going through some grieving of your own, I’d recommend picking this up because even if you can’t relate in the same way, sharing your grief with someone else might make you feel not so alone.

I'm not normally into poetry and when I was told about this book I had to buy it I'm glad I did the words the poetry are the most beautiful heartfelt way of expressing herself. I wish I have had words like when I was going through my grief the moment I finished reading those beautiful poems I went online and ordered my friend a book of the poems that's how much I believe and love her words

I don’t understand the harsh ratings. I think it’s possible that we live in a society based on instant gratification, and lots of people only appreciate love quotes.

The writer has a beautiful and lyrical style. Not only this, but the book was well presented and intriguing. I loved the illustrations. It was a great find!

Poignant, stunning, emotional and heart-wrenching. Only poetry can calm the turbulent heart. Grief doesn't thaw by pouring it into words but the heart feels lighter and that's what this book seems to accomplish. I could relate to all the sentiments expressed in these poems.

Friendships come and go like seasons in our lives.
Many cycle through over the years
Breezing by on gusty winds, only to dry our falling tears.

A beautiful book, but you must be prepared to feel every emotion possible. Grief, longing and sadness.
