Thank You, Good Reads! Good Reads introduces me to books that I find interesting but would not pick up on my own. I was very pleased with this book and was glad to be a giveaway winner. This book was comprehensive, interesting, and I left wanting to visit some of the sites mentioned in the book.

I have never participated in a civil war reenactment. However, I acknowledge it's popularity. In an effort to learn more about the civil war/sites that were crucial to the time period, I thought learning about sites and destinations of the civil war would be a good start. I enjoyed the segment of the book that explained how best to approach a civil war reenactment if you ever wanted to join one.

The book gives us some background on the importance of Kentucky. The books includes history (especially on Abraham Lincoln) and places to visit to learn more about specific battles of the Civil War. I enjoyed the content. The illustrations added to the book.

If I ever visit Kentucky, I will consider going to some of those sites.

I received this Kindle book as a Goodreads giveaway.

To start, this book is a concise, yet detail filled resource for someone looking to visit Kentucky's Civil War site or find a starting point for learning Kentucky's role in the Civil War. While the book is geared towards those visiting the war sites, the simple fact that battles and personalities are named provides the reader with "search terms" for further study.

The Kindle edition was filled with color and black and white photos that enhanced the experience, and the resources on timing of reenactments and other events ensures this book will remain on my Kindle in the hopes that I make it to Kentucky.

Doesn't give much information on when places are open or when tours are given but it does give contact information for some of the sites. Some contacts are very general and might not be that helpful. I didn't research them all.

This slim volume provides some history of the Civil War and ideas for a lot of places to visit, in the great state of Kentucky. I recently had a friend who moved to Kentucky and this gives us a jumping off point for some things to see and do.
