Easy to love, easy to leave.

With her ex-fiance's words, I'm in love with someone else, still ringing in her ears, Clare Franklin flies off on her would-be honeymoon alone. Resigned to the fact that not everyone gets a happily ever after, she's sworn off men. Until she gets tangled up, quite literally, with one very sexy veterinarian.

The only thing Dr. Deacon Montgomery is looking to share is his surgical expertise, but his instant attraction to Clare makes him wonder if he could be more than just a doctor, and daddy to his twin two-year old daughters.

Sun-filled days and hot, steamy nights only deepens the connection, causing them each to hope for something more. Until one phone call from home changes everything. But a love like theirs is hard to find, and definitely too hard to forget.

Love at Last by Claudia Connor was a sweet, cute, and easy going read. I'm a huge fan of Claudia Connor and have been since I read Worth the Fall. She has a knack for writing sexy, sweet, and protective heroes that really stand out. Dr Deacon Montgomery was a yummy single dad and a vet. Good with kids and animals.... so swoon worthy! Deacon made the book for me. Clare on the other hand at times annoyed me. She was likable, but I felt she was too standoffish, for way too long. Some push/pull was understandable but she took to long to come around for my taste. Other than the few times Clare bugged me the read for the most part was very enjoyable. I found myself unable to put it down and I stayed up to 4am finishing it. I really liked Clare's bf Jess and her brother. I could totally see them as a couple. I kinda hope they get their own book. Another sweet read from Claudia Connor!

Minutes from walking down the aisle, Clare Franklin gets the call and visit no bride wants to get on her wedding day. Bruised emotionally and embarrassed, she does (IMO) the right thing and escapes to the Dominican Republic to heal using the already-paid-for all inclusive honeymoon resort. She meets veterinarian Deacon Montgomery on her way to dinner solo on the first day and they agree to dine together. Once he finds out why she’s there, they agree to only relate to each other in the “here and now.”

I loved this story primarily because of the two main characters who were beautifully developed. They were imperfect, admirable people who just happened to find each other under less than ideal circumstances. What happens after they meet and leave the Caribbean is somewhat predictable but then takes a more unpredictable turn. I liked how the focus was on their feelings rather than circumstances. It was a bumpy ride for these two to find and trust each other but I felt the story was always true to their natures.

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of the author and this story carries her signature strongly. Family elements are always a staple, particularly children, and that's at the forefront here. I fell for Deacon early on as he’s such a decent man who used some bad judgment that later caused him much heartache. Clare had her flaws, too, but I liked her outlook on life and her heart. I loved this story and wish we could see more of them. 4.5 stars

I became a fan of this author after reading Worth the Fall and the books that followed in the series. While this story is a standalone novel, it had the essence of her previous books.

Clare is blindsided by her fiance who tells her on their wedding day that he is in love with someone else. She's stunned and decides to go on her honeymoon trip to isolate herself and process what has happened. She can't help but notice all the couples and as she tries to enjoy her solo excursion, she meets Deacon who is there on business. Their meeting sparks a connection and they make the most o their time together and the rules are that they only discuss the "here and now". Clare is receptive to a fling as it is helping her cope with the events at her wedding and also prompting feelings that she did not have for her ex-fiance. Deacon is also feeling vulnerable and doesn't want this to end, until it abruptly does.

Deacon's departure adds to Clares feeling of insecurity and she wants to forget their encounter or the feelings she has developed for him. Deacon had left a note for Clare before he left and she never received which makes him wonder if his feelings for her were one-sided, but he can't stop thinking about her.

Deacon is also juggling his career and his 3yr old twin daughters, Maci and Margo. They are everything to him and this author does a great job highlighting the unconditional love he has for his family. Deacon wants more and decides he needs to find Clare. He hires a PI to find her.

Clare is settling into her new home and job as a teacher. She is getting into a routine when she finds herself sick and soon realizes that she isn't sick but pregnant and knows the father is Deacon. She finds herself back home with her family trying to figure out what she is going to do.

You are now at the halfway point of the book and this author now takes you on a journey of how Clare and Deacon can connect again and if they can be a family. She adds layers of interesting characters that add to the storyline. Deacon is secure with his love and protection of his daughters and get wants to add Clare to the family and slowly convinces her that she can trust him even when she doesn't trust herself. This was a feel good story and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Change of genre.
Clean my palate from thrillers for a while.

I did like this romance. I didn’t love it, but I liked it.

It was written well, I loved how it flowed and how this author made the characters realistic and the story flew by well.

But I couldn’t help thinking, if your Groom told you that he was in love with someone else and you had given him your heart, then wanted nothing more to do with men because your so “unlucky in love” .....when will you realise “you can’t half pick ‘em!”

Find yourself first and value yourself.

Yea I know, it’s a fictional story.

It was good though, I’m just cynical

Claudia Connor is an auto-read author for me—she always puts the happy in the happy ever after and Love at Last keeps up that trend.

description You’ve got to admit there’s something extremely attractive about a single father.”

I’m not going to say much as it’s one that would be all to easy to spoil for readers and, whilst it isn’t what I would term unique in terms of story content and does venture into clichéd territory, Clare and Deacon were endearing characters and I enjoyed them together.

description I’m glad I found you.”

With a serious dose of cute coming courtesy of Deacon’s 3 year old twin daughters, Maci and Margo, this was a sweet, heartwarming journey with a splash of sexy along similar lines to Worth the Fall which introduced me to Claudia’s writing and has kept me reading since. If you’re after an easygoing romantic read then this ticks the boxes nicely.

I'm a big fan of single parent romances. Big patchwork families that tug on my heartstrings and bring a smile to my face. Claudia Connor managed that feat with her very first romance novel Worth the Fall and I've been a big fan ever since.

Love at Last was almost picture perfect.

A sweet romance that checked all my boxes. I devoured it, and felt utterly content with how the author brought the couple together. This novel had everything I like about a romance. Chemistry, sexual attraction, genuine friendship, and adorable kids.

It's one of those feel good novels, that leave me satisfied in every way. Claudia Connor has a way with words, and a true talent writing characters that speak to me again and again. Genuinely great people, that struggle but never in an overly dramatic way. Her books are uplifting and beautiful executed, exactly as I like them.

There is really not much more to say. If you love sweet romances that make you feel good - this is the book to pick. You won't be disappointed if you love a heartwarming story that engages, and touches your heart with its beautiful plot.

And who can say no to a single dad with adorable twins. A guy that goes the extra mile to find his love and make a life together happen. I certainly couldn't. I was feeling all fuzzy and warm with a silly smile on my face, and didn't leave my cozy reading spot until the END. I honestly could read her books all the time. I wouldn't say no if she would be cracking out books every few month. She is one of my favorite authors. Her writing and storytelling speak to me every single time.

Love at Last starts out as Clare is basically left at the altar, although her heart isn’t broken her confidence is finding love is. She goes on her honeymoon alone and stumbles upon Deacon, a sweet, handsome veterinarian there for a medical conference. With Deacon Clare feels all the swooning and heat she never felt with her ex. They spend exciting days of exploring the island and a few steamy nights together before circumstances unexpectedly tear them apart. Can the new intense feelings overcome all the real-life drama?

I loved this story! I’m a huge fan of Claudia Connor’s romances! Deacon and Clare have such a profound connection on the island, and I was hurt when they were torn apart. I must say my least favorite time in the novel was the time they spent apart wondering if they would ever see each other again, or if what they felt was real. Poor Clare! Although they both were cheated out of things by the circumstances, Clare had to go through so much alone, and again wondering if she could trust her judgment in men. I loved that Deacon was so determined to mend Clare’s broken heart and trust again once they were reunited. He was such an absolute gem! Deacon didn’t do anything wrong and he was a victim of circumstances, too, but I still felt really bad for Clare.

Claudia Connor always writes the dreamiest male heroes! Men with a protective streak a mile long, and loving dads that will melt your heart! Clare and Deacon had a bumpy ride on the road to love, but the journey was well worth it!

An incredibly sweet romantic holiday read. Maybe a tad too sweet for my liking.

Clare Franklin has been unlucky in love as she was about to get married and was left in the church she went on her Honeymoon to the Dominican anyway. Finally thinking that she might never get that passion that her parents have and her happily ever after shall be denied she gets tangled up with someone even though she is wary.

Deacon Montgomery is in the Dominican for a Vet Conference (seriously what vet conference has been held with sun, sea and sand) anyhoo a chance encounter leads him to meeting Clare. They get to know one another and live in the here and now.

I really liked Dean (he had the patience of a frigging saint) but Clare not so much. She didn’t throw herself a pity party although there were times where it was close. But life threw her a curve ball and she worked with it

I like the chemistry they had going on and their banter made it all the sweeter. But can a holiday romance work out when they have left their bubble. They must find out the hard way.

The complications of life were real and through everything they never forgot one another even though the circumstances and fate weren’t working in their favor. That Deacon had to leave due to a family emergency, but he looked high and low for Clare. It is well written and engaging I was smiling a lot throughout the book.

Holiday romances aren’t really my thing, but I am a fan of this author’s work and decided to give it a try any way. It isn’t bad per se it’s just not my cup of tea. Although it did have the catnip single parent romance trope for me. Another thing that bothered me and I mean really bothered me is that she should have just phoned him up and told him.

I'd really like Jax, jess & Connor to get a book as they are well developed secondary characters and I am sure they have a story to tell.

3 - "...I'm glad I found you..." Stars.

I have been reading this author for a while now, and it’s safe to say that you in general know what you are going to get from one of her reads. They are generally sweet, hopeful, emotional reads, and Love At Last predictably delivered all those things.

Something was always missing, or she was missing something…

Having to go on your honeymoon solo after being jilted at the alter isn’t generally something a woman wants to do, but for Clare Franklin, it’s the beginning of a new start, settling for Mr. Right-on-paper, didn’t turn out so well, so literally falling into sexy veterinarian Deacon Montogomery’s arms whilst on her vacation opens up all sorts of possibilities. They are both away from their normal lives so why not live for the here and now…

He hadn’t planned this… Sure as hell hadn’t been looking for it.

A friendship blooms, along with attraction, and after one hot night together, Clare believes there may be something more there worth pursuing, that is until she realizes that Deacon has left without a by your leave…

Not a huge amount more I want to say about the plot in this one as it would essentially be one massive spoiler, but I will say if you have read anything by the author previously you will know what you are getting, I will be honest and say that for the most of its reading, I felt like I was in a perpetual state of de-ja-vu, because there were so many aspects of the story that I felt I had read before in one way or another in previous books by the author. That said if you are looking for a good old fashioned romance, then this will be right up your street. Claudia excels at bringing close familial ties into all of her books and that is no different with this one.

Easy-going reading if you are looking for something light and not too taxing on the brain.

Not my favorite book by Miss Connor. This book is unrealistic. It is sweet. A beach read that kind of book. But not realistic. It is difficult to imagine single parent with twins who still have time to cook and talking on the phone. Deacon is also unrealistic. How he can just leave tracking down Claire leaving his twins behind?

But again, its sweet. Like a pina colada you enjoy on the beach.

All my feels... safe with Claudia Connor's lovely stories. If you have an hankering for the single parent's trope, look no further, she's it.
Strong heroine overwhelmed by a unexpected turn of events, in need for a strong shoulder to lean on. Enter the ever so dreamy hero, charming and attentive lover, gentle and caring with children, the perfect family man. Little to no angst, a really sweet sweet tale.

I've almost read Love At Last in one sitting, save for this important appointement I had today.
From the moment Clare got tangled with Deacon, I've been hooked and couldn't stop reading. The meet cute was adorable and I most definitely lived the island hookup fantasy through Clare's and Deacon story.
Both had an amazing connection, almost too good to be true and then Deacon must depart in haste leaving Clare behind, hurt and determined to protect herself from men who come to love her and leave her so easily.
Fast forwards a few months ahead, Clare and Deacon are reunited under unexpected—but predictable— circumstances that I felt a little far fetched and I want to say cliché, but I still enjoyed the pattern the author based their story on.

There's definitely something cozy and heart warming about Claudia Connor's stories. The romance is sweet and sexy and probably what is defined as "insta-love", her representation of the family dynamics, single-parenthood are spot-on, the way she writes such sweet and cute kids is truly endearing. All in all she writes the kind of romantic fantasy that just appeals to me, ticks all my boxes and warms my heart and I can't get enough of her stories.

I know, this is going to be just me, and I am going to get all sorts of comments about how I am wrong.

But, in books, I have a firm rule that I have to believe the characters chose to end up together, and that they would pursue one another, when an outside element is introduced to move them into the relationship.

This is a tough one to review without spoilers, as the plot point I had issue with is part of a major point in the book. But, I can say that there is a conversation and that Deacon tells Clare that he doesn't know if they would have ended up together were the one thing not to have happened.

And, I am out. Nope. I need to believe the characters love each other, that they would have moved heaven and earth to be together. That there is nothing they want more than one another. And, well, this wasn't the case. They got there, and this I think was where they ended up. But, by the time they got to the point where I was able to sort of believe they were the happily ever after, I was already off the train at the "I don't know if we would have been together" train.

I do see the story arc, and I see why the author made the choice she did, but it stepped on one of my lines, one of the things I have to have in a book wasn't there, and for me, it was an issue.

That said, there were parts of the story I enjoyed. Which is why I did an overall 2 rating, as the book wasn't awful...but it definitely had a flaw I could not get past and fully enjoy it.

While I am not able to recommend this title, I have a speaking suspicion that there will be others who love this one, and don't have the issue with it that I had.

This is my 5th book by this author. I really enjoyed her McKinney/Walker series. My favorite is Worth It All.
It's been a while since my last CC book.
I received an ARC from NetGalley. My laptop bit the dust, so I was a little behind in reading and reviewing.
I was anxious for a sweet love story to read.
A big chunk of the first half of the book takes place in the Dominican Republic. Clare and Deacon have a meet-cute. There's an insta-attraction. Neither of them was looking for anything even remotely casual. They do casual- and then some.
There's not much I can say without spilling the whole story. There are many "what?" moments for me. This is 3rd person POV. The writing is a little clipped.Short, choppy sentences. It reminds me a little of KA & also of Rosalind James' rugby series. Fortunately, there were longer, flowing sentences sprinkled in the story.
As I mentioned, my favorite CC book is "Worth It All". I really like the children characters in CC's books. So real and yeah- child like. Not mini-adults or super achievers.
The "what?" moments are somewhat possible but I think very unlikely to occur in real life. What Clare goes through is hard for me to believe. If I watched daytime TV or a cable docudramas, I would be more convinced.
I think that I like Deacon more than Clare. Clare has my sympathy. It's no secret that she was left at the altar.
She tries to keep her chin up the best that she can.
Deacon makes some errors in not being upfront with Clare. This leads to major life altering events.

I give this 3.5 stars. I want to read more books by this author.

Nobody does a Single Parent like Claudia Connor does! Single Parent trope Haven I tell you!

What a emotional and touching journey Claudia Connor gave us with Love At Last!

The last thing Clare expected the day after being jilted at the altar, after deciding to go on her ‘honeymoon’, was to meet the sexy veterinary, Dr. Deacon Montgomery.

Deacon, single parent of twin girls, is fully dedicated to his little ones, so when he meets Clare on the resort he’s staying for a conference, he’s shocked by the connection he instantly feels. Never in a lifetime did he expect to meet a woman that caused him to crave things he had never felt before, or that he thought were even on the cards for him.

He wanted to kiss her more than he’d ever wanted to kiss another woman in his life. He needed his mouth on hers like he needed air. And it was the raw desperation that kept him from moving.

One wide palm stroked down her side and slowly back up like he owned her. Like she was his. What would that be like? To be Deacon’s. To be loved by Deacon?

The chemistry and attraction were undeniable, the soul recognition was beautifully described, and the unfolding of their connection on those days was naturally written. Their night of passion was palpable and oh so hot…

It had been fireworks, something she’d always thought she wanted. But anything that hot and bright couldn’t last long. Fireworks were just quick, bright bursts that left behind acrid smoke and a dark sky.

But an uncontrollable event separates them and leaves them lost and with no way to contact. I will not reveal much, so that I don’t spoil their journey and all the events, but a LOT happens in all whole months of separation, but one thing never changed, their craving for one another – even if when it didn’t seem right – and Deacon’s will to find Clare no matter what. I adored that about him. The reunion is shocking in all senses, but oh so realistically written! Ms. Connor really knows how to pull every single one of our emotions!

Deacon was such an amazing main male character! Totally swoon worthy! His girls were his whole world, until he meets Clare, and every second we witness all those precious moments between him, Macy and Margo, just made us – and Clare – fall more and more in love with him! Who can resist a hot single dad?! ;)

You’ve got to admit there’s something extremely attractive about a single father. Not just that, but a man who clearly adores his little girls.

Yes, circumstances changed, life took turns and twists until it brought them back together. With all the new elements, unknown to them, they had to adapt and relearn, and even get to truly know each other, but this time, all in ‘real life’, no in the seclusion of a island resort. It wasn’t an easy task, specially with Clare’s deep seated and justified issues given all her failed relationships, plus all the events upon her separation, but Deacon fought for what he wanted, to show how much he wanted her, need her, loved her…

He loved her in ways he never even imagined loving a woman, this beautiful smart, sweet, amazing woman that he was so desperate for in every way one person could be desperate for another.

“You know I don’t have much success with these things.”
With a small smile, he caressed her cheek.
“Does anyone? I mean until the last one? The one that doesn’t end?”

Clare had a lot of inner struggle, but all their family and friends did an amazing in helping her, and specially Deacon, that never gave up on his search for her, and in winning her trust, and above all, LOVE!

The character development was, like in all Claudia Connor’s, brilliantly executed. The complexity of the personalities and emotions was flawlessly unparalleled. Not only Clare and Deacon, but all the secondary characters.

All the family moments, all the private ones, all the loving touches, the passionate ones, are seated deep in mind, and warmed my heart. Clare and Deacon’s journey was a unforgettable tale, an epic and oh so realistic forever kind of love.

Her eyes shimmered with tears, and he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that she was the love of his life. He’d already known it, but it grew. Every minute, every second.

“Though it seems strange to back things up to firsts when we already crossed the finish line.”
“I wouldn’t say we’ve reached the finish line,” he said seriously. “A victory, a success, yes. Two perfect little people, but definitely not finished.”

Love at Last was truly a emotional, heart touching story! Claudia Connor holds us captive from the very first word to last with the beautifully raw emotions, and genuine storyline. This book is right up there with my all time fav Claudia Connor, Worth The Fall, and that is saying a lot given it’s a standing feature on my all time fav list, best book boyfriend list and my fav single parent list, and what got me hooked on Claudia Connor’s brilliant writing. Love at Last is now on all those features, plus it made me crave even more of these characters, and I’m hoping Ms. Connor will give us some of the secondary characters stories! Pretty please…. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

And didn’t she more than anyone know how rare it was to find a love that made your heart tremble? And if you found it you should grab hold with both hand and not let go.

I found it. I found him. Everything I ever wanted, everything I was always looking for.

I have read every book released by this author and enjoyed every moment spent lost in her words. What I loved about this book is that is has her ‘stamp’ on it but it is completely different to the other series. This is great for a reader as some authors can’t seem to master this and often release different series that all follow a similar formula and feel the same. Claudia is not one of those authors ☺

Love at Last is a good old fashioned romance novel with a bit of angst, assumptions and swoony ‘aww’ moments. It had everything that I enjoy in a love story. So let’s get down to the details.

Clare is stunned on her wedding day when her fiance decides he doesn’t want to marry her. At the time of his confession she is blind sided but when she really thinks about it, she was marrying him for the wrong reasons. However, to make herself feel better she decides to enjoy the honeymoon destination on her own, she needs time to process what has happen and figure out what to do next.

On her first night at her tropical vacation she meets a very handsome man and gets attached to him. Okay, she literally gets attached to him through a bit of unsure footing but that turns out to be a good thing because this will turn out to be just beginning on a holiday fling for both of them.

Deacon is the guest speaker at a conference. He is a single father to twin toddlers and this is the first time he has left them overnight. He plans on gapping it as soon as his speaking duties are over so he can get home to his girls. When he collides with Mia he finds himself wanting to get to know her, this has not happened for a long time. His whole life is work and caring for his daughters, he never makes time for himself yet. There is just something about this gorgeous woman that has him throwing caution to the wind and indulging in her.

Can you fall in love with someone in just a few days? That is something that Mia is asking herself, the connection with Deacon is like nothing she has felt before, not even with her ex-fiance. When the bubble is popped, Mia finds herself back home and wandering what went wrong?

This is where the story completely changes, good old stubborness and assumptions have Mia in their grip and there were so many moments when I wished I had her number so I could ring her and put her right. Things could have been so different if she only had the courage to reach out to Deacon. Her insecurities about relationships really play into her indecision.

The next time that Mia and Deacon see each other is completely overwhelming for both of them, so much has changed in their lives during the time they were apart and I’m not going to spoil it by going into any detail now. I will say that Deacon is so fucking cute and swoony and a total DILF. The cuteness factor had me as soon as I read the first interaction between him and his girls and I may have gone into a sugar coma from all the sweet moments in this book.

This book was lukewarm. Very predictable and so cliché. I didn't care for their "separation". It was all very insta-love with no substance behind it. There was no chemistry at all.

I loved the girl twins, they were adorable. Not so adorable was how their dad thought about them. Everything was described as little. Little hands, little voices, little smiles. It felt awkward reading it.

I liked that they both were celibate during the separation, and that there was no OW/OM drama. And I loved that the heroine wasn't a virgin, or very unexperienced.

The heroine was a little too clumsy for my taste. The hero was all right, but nothing remarkable. But he was a super Dad.

One last thing. I found some "mistakes" while reading. Funny sounding sentences, words left out, that kind of thing.

All in all an ok read, nothing really new or interesting.

I loved the beginning of this book. Clare and Deacon share a sweet but brief moment. Their time is less than a week but the chemistry and connection is heartwarming.

The phone call Deacon received has him running and due to a mix up Clare isn't aware what chased him away. Deacon's sudden leave at the resort, spurs a series of mis-connections between this couple. They were two ships passing in the night.

Right when I was ready to toss my kindle this couple finally reconnected but it isn't the hearts and flowers I was hoping for. After an emotional journey these two finally found what they were looking for.

Deacon was in board with the making their relationship last but Clare had her doubts. While I understand her reasons for this, I wanted her to take the leap.

It took most of the book but Deacon was able convince Clare that his love was real. They managed to get their well deserved HEA but their struggles were real.

This is such a beautiful story! A sweet, sexy, chemistry-filled love story that is surprising and unexpected, and that completely swept me off my feet.

Clare is literally minutes away from walking down the aisle when she hears the words that no bride… no person ever wants to hear – “I’m in love with someone else.” To clear her head and pull herself back together after such a shock, she takes her planned trip to the Dominican Republic, turning her honeymoon into a “ladymoon” (I freaking love that name btw), giving herself a much-deserved break and time to relax and just ‘be’.

So immediately, I’m already half in love with Clare. She’s smart, strong and sensible, and I was so proud of her for handling her situation the way she did. However she very quickly realises that moving on isn’t going to be too difficult. She’s not as devastated as she should be, and looking back, her fiancé never really gave her the butterflies she always imagined would happened when she fell in love. In fact, maybe she’s narrowly escaped what could have been the worst decision of her life. And that is only reinforced when she literally stumbles into the hottest man she’s ever seen.

“I’d rather have nothing than something that isn’t real. And I’m okay with that. Coming so close to almost making a mistake has made me okay with that.”
“Really?”
“Yep.
“So you’ve given up?”
“Maybe I’ve finally grown up. You have to let go of the fairy tales at some point. I always thought when it was right, you’d just know and that would be it. But how can you really ever know when it’s real?”

Deacon is in the Dominican Republic speaking at a veterinary conference when Clare comes crashing into his life. He’s a single father of two-year-old twin girls and doesn’t have time for dating or romance, but being away from home and being completely captivated by Clare, he allows himself to get swept up in his attraction to her.

And OMG, I loved this romance! Easy and natural, it just flows. It happens quickly, but the pacing felt realistic and I loved seeing the chemistry sizzle between these two as they enjoy living in the moment with each other, allowing their emotions (and their libidos) to take them on an amazing journey together, and it’s so, so beautiful! Sweet, fun, spine-tingingly flirty and gorgeously steamy.

But it all comes to a sudden stop when real life gets in the way of their burgeoning romance, and when they return home they both find that nothing will be the same for either of them again.

I won’t say anything more than that because I don’t want to spoil anything, but OMGOMGOMG, I loved it! The story twists in directions I didn’t see coming, written with lots of heart, humour and emotion, and I loved watching it all play out. My heart ached, I swooned, and I may have even squeed out lout at one point. And I couldn’t put this book down, desperate to see what was coming next.

Didn’t she more than anyone know how rare it was to find a love that made your heart tremble? And if you found it you should grab hold with both hands and not let go.

I fell in absolute love with these characters. I’ve already gushed about Clare, but I need to gush even more over Deacon because he is an absolute sweetheart! I knew that from seeing him in the role of romantic hero, but when he switches over into single father mode he is still just as incredible. Beware your ovaries reading this one! And his little girls are absolute scene-stealers! I loved their importance to Deacon, and to the story, and I thought the theme of family was beautifully carried throughout the book. And on a personal note, I am a parent of twins myself, so I was particularly invested and giggling away at the truth behind a lot of those scenes.

He crossed the room and standing beside her in the quiet, stroked a hand over her hair. She was the loving, fierce mama bear his girls never had. And she was the woman he loved with everything in him.

I was captivated by this story from start to finish, and though I was a little bit wary at times, in the end it all worked out, unfolding as it needed to, with scenes that had me clutching my heart, laughing, or tearing up at the gorgeousness of it all.

Absolutely beautiful, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a follow up book for Jess and Connor soon!!!!

RECENSIONE QUI: https://thereadingslove.blogspot.com/...

description

When does a fling become the real thing? Or is that even possible? Clare's fiancé, on the day of their wedding, tells her that he is in love with someone else. But Clare is nothing if not resilient and she goes on the honeymoon trip as a way of trying to come to terms with what happened and just to get away. While at a five-star Dominican resort she meets Deacon, a handsome veterinarian at the resort for a conference and they hit it off and have a very steamy one night affair. He is gone the next morning, not only from Clare's bed, but from the resort. She is left wondering why and feeling that this relationship could have been so much more.

Deacon was so much more than a handsome veterinarian. He is the single father of 2 1/2 year old twins and his life, while very busy, is lonely. When he meets Clare, he is impressed by her spirit and her beauty. To have suffered the emotional upheaval she did makes Deacon want to protect her. She has awakened him to the yearning for someone to share his life with. He wants more than a vacation fling, but Fate is going to make him work for it.

When does a fling become the real thing? When two people have true and abiding feelings for each other, overcome adversity, put the past behind them and decide that the love they have is strong enough to overcome anything.

Claudia Connor is one of the best romance authors I have ever read. Every book has been a fantastic read and this book does not disappoint.

I really enjoyed this beautiful romance story. Clare Franklin is left at the church when her groom-to-be tells her he is in love with someone else. Clare decided to head off to the resort where they were supposed to honeymoon and spend some time thinking and getting herself together. It doesn't quite turn out the way she planned. After spending her first afternoon having a bit too much to drink, she literally stumbles into Dr. Deacon Montgomery, a vet who is there for a conference. After having dinner together, they realize that they are both lonely and they get along very well. It becomes a holiday romance as they spend time together both in and out of bed. When Deacon gets a phonecall, he flies back home leaving Clare a short note. Unfortunately, Clare never gets the note and believes that Deacon was just using her and she is devastated.

After returning home, she starts her job teaching at a private school until she realized that she is pregnant and loses her job. Deacon had to go home as one of his twin girls had to have surgery, but once she is better, he tries to find Clare. It is not easy to do when you only have a first name. Clare googles Deacon and finds a newspaper article showing him with his wife and child. She decides not to tell him about her pregnancy until after the children are born, yes twins.

I loved both characters, Clare and Deacon. They had both been hurt and were not sure if they wanted to take the chance to be hurt again. They were also both very caring people who everyone around them cared about and wanted to make them happy. As the story progresses, it goes from predictable to surprising. I loved reading what they went through and how they solved the problems that arose. We have two single parents, both of twins, who need each other more than they know. Deacon's little girls are adorable, loving and I just wanted to hug them both. A great romance and family story that I would recommend to anyone who loves second chance romance stories. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.
