Jilted at 27, Kate Phillips focused on her career and left marriage and children to her twin sister. She’s on track to realize all of her dreams, until her sister disappears, leaving her little girl on Kate’s doorstep. But someone wants to find Kate’s sister, and is willing to use the child to lure her out of hiding. Kate turns to the Brotherhood Protectors for a bodyguard with daddy skills. He never intends on marrying again or having a family. Plans have a way of changing, and some families find each other. His mission is to keep the feisty, career-minded beauty and little girl safe while his team locates the sister. His challenge is to do so without losing his heart in the process.

Great story with an older hero who is so hot and amazing!! I fell in love with him myself. Lol! He is nearing 50 and yes he had a wife and child who died 12 years before and he loved them. He was good with children and he was hired to be a bodyguard aka fake husband to keep the heroine and her niece safe. They actually had HOT sex the 2nd day they met and I was so happy for them. lol. He was an awesome hero and I really liked him. He loved kids and they loved him. I really loved this book and I am going to go back and read more of these stories. Bad review but I just am glad I read it.
Chuck Johnson has been a wonderful supporting character in a few of these books and I'm so glad he gets his own HEA. This installment in a great series is a case of insta-lust/love for both main characters. When I say insta - they were bumping uglies not 24 hours after they met. I'm not a prude, but that is waaaay to soon, even for a short book with limited page count. Come On! Then there were the many plot holes/inconsistences. One redeeming quality is the awesome action scenes and that Hank Patterson got to play a major part in them.
Kate Phillips is a professional woman with her own company. She has is all together and has decided that marriage and children are not for her. She has her twin sister, Rachel, for that. Except it's been a while since Kate talked to her and has never met her three-year-old niece, Lyla. When Rachel leaves Laya on Kate's doorstep Kate is only told to keep her safe and to contact Hank Patterson and Brotherhood Protectors for protection.
Chuck Johnson is new to Brotherhood Protectors, but he has a wealth of experience as a Navy SEAL and working as protective detail with the DEA. It is his DEA experience that makes him uniquely qualified for protect Kate and Laya. But Chuck really doesn't want this assignment, it strikes too close to home for him. Having lost his family in an accident he has not thought of love, marriage and children in a long time. But little bits like Lyla and sexy women like Kate have a way of changing a man's mind.
Chuck Johnson works for the Brotherhood Protection Services and he gets a case to protect Kate Phillips and her three year old niece Lyla while posing as Kate's husband and Lyla's Daddy becoming a Montana SEAL Undercover Daddy.
Romance sneaks up on both Kate and Chuck when neither of them is looking for a life partner or relationship. Unknown danger, stress from worry about the missing Rachel, Lyla's mother and Kate's twin keep the story moving with adventure for both Kate and Chuck. Kidnapping, a fire, a time in a concrete prison and a rescue keeps the excitement going to the end of the story. I enjoyed the chemistry between two mature adults and the fun of dealing with an active three-year old full of energy and love.
Montana SEAL Undercover Daddy is the nineth exciting tale of loyalty and courage, and looming threats jeopardise their lives and the lives they swore to protect. This story not only highlights the fierce devotion of its alpha heroes but also emphasises the importance of connection and resilience against a backdrop of uncertainty and danger.
Montana SEAL Undercover Daddy is charged with tension as they navigate this new environment as bodyguards. Along his journey, he encounters a diverse cast of characters, including resilient women who exude strength and empathy, showcasing their remarkable tenacity in the face of adversity.
Chuck who's in book 7 of the series, a former seal and FBI agent, recently joined Brotherhood Protectors. His recent assignment was just like what he did to Daphne and Maya but kinda different at the same time. This time, he needs to pretend to be a father and a husband to his client, Kate and to her niece Lyla, a businesswoman who got a frantic call from her twin sister and left her daughter, Lyla to Kate's care and told her to got to Montana and look for Hank and Brotherhood Protectors who can provide her protection from the people who wants to harm Lyla. Chuck didn't expect that his next mission will be close to his past, A family. His wife and daughter died years ago during his career as a Navy SEAL and his still misses them so dearly especially his daughter, Sarah. Now it's up to him to protect both Kate and Lyla. He didn't expect to feel to have a family especially in love again years after the tragic fate of his own family. Kate, after failed relationships and sudden missing of her twin sister and become a mother to her niece. She didn't expect to fall in love with Chuck and she knew if somethings happened to her and Lyla she will be there to protect her.
I love this book! Love the characters especially Chuck and Kate, also adorable Lyla. Their chemistry are there! They have attraction since the first time that they met. Even if Chuck told himself that Kate was just a client but didn't stop him to fall in love with her also get close to Lyla. I love the mystery, suspense and action in the story. Especially on how Chuck and the rest of the Brotherhood Protectors went to save Kate, Lyla and the rest of members of the cult who afters Kate and Lyla.
Also love on how Miss Elle James how she give hints for the other guys who will join the Brotherhood Protectors.

After a failed relationship, Kate devotes all her time and energy to becoming a successful businesswoman. She always dreamed of having a family, but left that to her twin sister after her last failed relationship. When she receives a frantic call from her sister asking her to open her front door, Kate finds Lyla--her twin's three-year old daughter. Rachel also tells Kate to contact Hank Patterson if she runs into any trouble and he would help her. She brings Lyla inside and barely gets the door locked before an intruder breaks in.
After suffering the devasting loss of his family, Chuck retires from the SEALs to work with The Brotherhood Protectors. Hank has assigned Chuck a new case due to his "special abilities". Chuck is good with kids. When he meets Kate, he can't help but feel an immediate attraction to her. The fact that she has a "daughter", is a bonus! Chuck tries to stay focused on the job and knows he shouldn't start anything with a client, but the more time he spends pretending they're a family, the more he wishes they really were.
This is hands-down my favorite Brotherhood Protector story! Failed relationships, tragic loss, and cults all mix to make this a very relatable story. Chuck is the kind of man every woman wishes she had! He's sweet, kind, protective, and good with children. I wish I had a Chuck! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
We met Chuck in book 7 in the Brotherhood Protector Series, he’s a retired SEAL and FBI agent and now works for Hank. His next assignment is protecting a woman, Kate, and her 3 year old niece, Lyla. Kate is put in charge of protecting Lyla when her twin drops her off one night and disappears, when she finds Hank, she insists on a bodyguard who is great with kids. Chuck lost his wife and 2 year old daughter many years ago and he still misses them, giving up on love and having kids until he meets Kate who he is immediately attracted to...good thing she is attracted to him too, now they just have stay of the radar and unravel the mystery of her twin’s disappearance. Can they succeed ? Another great read with a bit of steam, some suspense, and an older couple (which I loved) who find love proving it’s never too late. I loved that there was no over the top drama, they didn’t beat around the bush and there were no jealousies breaking them apart. The story flowed nicely, keeping the suspense alive and I loved how they both acted and were mature adults when it came to their relationship. Only question I had was who was the masked man...did the police catch him...what was found out then ? Otherwise a great read and the ending had me smiling from ear to ear. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Chuck just recently joined the Brotherhood Protectors after he helped them complete a mission. He left the FBI to join Hank and his men.
Chuck is asked to protect 3 year old Lyla and her aunt, Kate Phillips. They must pretend to be a family while trying to keep the woman and girl safe and find Kate's twin sister.
Kate is not good with children as has never seen her niece. Lyla was dropped at Kate's doorstep by her sister and told to contact Hank at the Brotherhood Protectors for help. Kate doesn't think she is up to the task of caring for her niece because she knows nothing about children. Enter Chuck who had his own daughter and a wife but he lost them years ago. He is reluctant to take this assignment but Lyla needs him.
Kate doesn't think she has what it takes to care for her niece and yet she has protective streak in her that would rival anyone. Chuck is strong but he isn't sure he wants another wife because the loss of his family is too painful to have to live through again.
This was a fun read and Lyla is a sweetheart. Fate plays a large part in this book and we get to see a bit more of Hank, Sadie and Emma. Ms. James also introduces us to a possible new team member.
Chuck has been a stand out guy since his first appearance in the Brotherhood Protectors series. In his own book he's even more of a sexy, mature, stand up guy. Haunted by his past he's come to accept a life alone, although he still finds himself day dreaming of a family of his own. When Kate and Lyla, her 3 year old niece, enter his life as a protection detail, he's torn. Can he keep his personal feelings separate from his professional persona? One thing is clear Chuck is a natural with kids and is perfect for the Dad part he must play. Much more comfortable than Kate is as a mom.. Kate is a successful businesswoman, with one failed marriage she hasn't given love or family much thought. But Chuck shows her what might be. Great storyline developing Chuck, Kate and Lyla into a family unit, while the Protectors search for Lyla's mom and investigate home grown American terrorism. The action series in this book is fast paced and well written. I truly enjoyed the interaction of characters, the development of story details and the intelligence that shines through when it comes time to fight the bad guys. Really love it when a family comes together.
Elle James does it again, finds the perfect way to find her hero the woman he needs. Chuck Johnson is afraid to find love, he had it all once, a wife and daughter that he tragically lost. He doesn't think he could survive that again, so he avoids the connection.
Kate Phillip's twin sister Rachel drops off her child on Kate's doorstep. Her goal is to protect the child. The only thing she tells Kate is to contact Hank Peterson at Brotherhood Protectors in Eagle Falls. Not one clue as to the reasons for this sudden disappearing act.
Now Chuck has decided not to take an assignment involving a child again, he is so attached to little Maya but knows he has to back away so her father can form a bond with her. When Hank presents his next mission he almost refuses, until he meets Lyla.
With no idea where Rachel has gone or what kind of trouble she's in. Chuck, Kate and Lyla embark on the pretense of a family as Hank sets Swede to the task of locating Rachel.
Once they have some clues Kujo and his dog Six travel to do some recon, in hopes of spotting Rachel.
Curious neighbors create more suspense and the intrigue will keep you on your toes as you read. The attraction between Chuck and Kate is palpable and the desire for more haunts them both.
Montana SEAL Undercover Daddy is the ninth book in The Brotherhood Protectors Series by Elle James. This series is a great blend of romance, action, and suspense - which is all set against the rugged backdrop of Montana. These books introduce us to a team of former military heroes who dedicate their lives to protecting others, all while navigating their own personal battles. Ms. James’ characters are definitely the heart of this series, and each protector is uniquely crafted, with a mix of strength, vulnerability, and charm. Their camaraderie and loyalty to one another also creates a sense of family that adds an extra element to the stories/series. These plots are fast-paced and packed with twists, cleverly blending high-stakes danger with heartfelt romance. Whether it's a SEAL turned cowboy, or a sniper finding love amidst chaos, each book delivers a satisfying mix of adrenaline and emotion. Elle James also weaves in themes of redemption, trust, and healing, making the series not just entertaining, but also heartfelt. With gripping storylines, endearing characters, and just the right amount of heat, this is a series that will leave you eagerly reaching for the next installment. Happy Reading…
This book was more like the Elle James' reads I had become familiar with reading or listening to the audio version. I did listen to the audiobook and thought the narrator did a good job.
Having been around kids in some form or fashion most of my life, it was an interesting twist to read about how uncomfortable Kate was along with her lack of knowledge. I'm not saying that to say there is anything wrong with not wanting kids, or not wanting to be around them, or even not having that experience. I just thought it was interesting Kate felt so clueless.
I thought it was interesting and also sweet that Duke was so well versed and comfortable with taking care of Layla. I also appreciated that Kate was concerned about her sister, and Rachel just didn't disappear from everyone's thoughts.
This story had more action, suspense, and detail than the D Force novella. I can't forget to mention the romance and the steamy scenes. There was also had an epilogue. I was happy to see Chuck and Kate get their HEA. I also enjoy it when the team from Brotherhood Protesters make an appearance to help out another team member.
I read this book in one sitting. Ok I know its not 1000 pages, but still i can put a book down and walk away for most. It grabbed me at the very beginning. Phone ringing, middle of the night. I was a little uncomfortable with Kate at the beginning. As the book progressed so did my like of Kate. I enjoyed her quick wit, her intelligence and her zest. Now Chuck... I have always liked Chuck. I want to reach through the book and say "call me, ditch Kate and I will ditch my husband" As always Elle touches on some of the sad truths in real life, and she does so in this one. Light enough touch to make you aware, but not hit you heavy over the head. There are evil charismatic people in the world. Love this series, you can jump in anywhere, but you will want to read them all. This is a quick read and HEA. I requested this arc and was lucky enough to receive one, yeah me! All thoughts and opinions are my own and I am sharing them in hopes others would like to check out Elle James Who doesn't share good things?
Rachel is desperate because she and her daughter are running away from a religious sect. Her only way to save her child is to hand her over to her twin sister Kate. Kate in order to protect her niece, as indicated by her sister, goes to the brotherhood protectors to hire a bodyguard. Who better than Chuck to fulfill this duty but he hasn’t come to terms with his heart because as soon as he sees Kate, his life and priorities come at crossroads and there will be no turning back. I loved this story very much. Kate is an independent and brave woman who, with all her courage, runs away from her home and does what is best to protect her niece. She actually is the perfect match for Chuck, an ex navy seal who continues to serve his country being part of an organization that helps others in need. The main point of the book is not about a girl who needs protection but the encounter of two people who have lost faith in happiness but fate, that has a strange way of appearing, gives them a second chance in love.
Once again, Ms James gives the reader an engaging, fast paced plot with well developed characters. I especially appreciated the fact that the main characters, Kate Phillips, and Chuck Johnson are older and mature in their behavior. Kate receives a call from her twin sister asking her to take care of her 3 year old girl whom she has left by her door and ask for help from the Brotherhood Protectors. When she ‘s attacked in her home while retrieving Layla, she quickly goes to Hank , owner of the Brotherhood. Chuck is the operative assigned to keep the two of them safe because he’s good with children. The reason for this is devastating and the same reason he guards his heart. The plot is filled with family moments, but also with suspense, bad guys, a cult and of course romance. But the road to the latter one might be a bit bumpy. I appreciated the fact that the author reminds us that there is always hope , even after heartbreak and that hope can bring love and happiness. Another good addition to this series. I voluntarily read this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Montana Seal Undercover Daddy is book 9 in the Brotherhood Protector series and is another well written, suspenseful, heart warming book.
Kate Phillips has focused on her career not, arraigned and family but when her twin sister calls to tell her to open her front door, get the package (her 3 yr old daughter) and get out of town and go see Hank Patterson of the Brotherhood Protectors, she knows her sister is in trouble...but what she doesn't know is where her sister is and how to take care of her niece...
Chuck Johnson a retired Navy Seal, former FBI and is now working for Brotherhood Protectors will be tasked to protect Kate and her niece, help find her sister and keep his heart from getting involved which he swore would never happen again after the loss of his wife and daughter.
Can Chuck keep these beautiful girls safe from harm and keep his heart locked up or will they somehow find a way under his armor and open him to finding love, laughter and happily ever after???
This is the ninth book in the Brotherhood Protectors series by Elle James. Kate Phillips has a twin sister who is in some kind of trouble and contacts Kate. Kate is surprised by her sisters call but even more surprised when she discovers her sister has left her three year old daughter Lyla on Kate's door step. Shortly after bring her niece into her home someone breaks in and Kate is left with a child and doesn't know where to go. Her sister told her to contact Hank in Montana with the Brotherhood Protectors. Kate and Lyla travel to Montana to meet Hank and they are assigned Chuck Johnson as their bodyguard. Kate and Chuck do their best to stay focused and protect Lyla but a misdirect pulls Chuck away and Kate and Lyla are taken. In that moment Chuck is ready to move beyond his past and the death of his wife and daughter to start over with Kate but will he be in time to save Kate and Lyla as well as Kate's sister? I love this book, there is a lot going on in the characters pasts that contribute to their actions in the present. The character are amazing. This is a great read.
This is part of a series I did not read the other stories, but was still able to keep up with this one. Chuck is new to the Brotherhood, he lost his family years ago and is now pretty much a loner. He never thinks he will love again cause he dies not want to suffer lost ever again. Chuck is awesome with kids and is needed on a case with Kate.
Kate and her niece are in danger and her twin sister is missing. She needs help, Kate is a workaholic and built her own company on her own. She never wanted kids and thinks she is happy until spending time as a pretend family with Chuck and her niece. They both start to feel things of course one of them is in denial until danger happens and now it maybe too late to reveal their love for one another.
This story was short but had a lot of detail I enjoyed the suspense and these two lonely people finding each other. I would definitely recommend this story
This was another good book by Elle James. Chuck lost his family in a car accident while deployed as a Navy seal overseas. He harbors guilt and fears after the loss of his wife and daughter. Kate is career focused and have no interest in getting married and having children. This was until her sister, Rachel left her 3 year old daughter on her doorstep, with a telephone call telling her that she and her daughter are in danger. Rachel tell Kate to take care of her neice and to take her to Montana and seek out Hank of The Brotherhood Protectors to keep them safe. Kate has no experience in raising kids, but Chuck does; so Hank assigns Chuck to watch over both of them. Chuck and Kate ended up falling for each other. I am so glad Chuck got his own story and a HEA. The storyline was enjoyable and had me hooked from start to finish. I recommend reading this book.
Ms. James does it again with her Montana Seals. Chuck is newly arrived into Eagle Rock Montana working for the Brotherhood Protectors. Kate is strong, single successful businesswoman. She gets woken up in the middle of the night with her 3 year old niece and attacked and told to go to Hank Patterson and the Brotherhood Protectors. She arrives with Lyla and is assigned a bodyguard who is to pretend to be her husband and daddy to Layla. The only problem, Chuck does not want to be her pretend husband and daddy to Lyla, it's too painful. The story is suspenseful and well written to keep the reader readily turning the page to find out what's going to happen next. I received this advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review. I highly recommend Ms. James Montana Seal Undercover Daddy and as well, any of her other books.
Wow, this book starts off with heart-stopping action that doesn't stop until the end of the story. We met Chuck in Montana SEAL Daddy – but you don't need to have read that book to enjoy this one – I loved him in that book and was so happy to finally get to read his story.
The blurb tells you what you need to know about the book. I'll tell you that it kept me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning. I could feel the emotions coming off of Chuck and Kate and how they felt about little Lyla was unmistakable.
Ell James is a great story teller and this is one of my favorites from her Brotherhood Protector series. The epilogue she wrote for this one is perfect!
An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
Fast paced, well written story. It starts quickly and I was hooked! I read in one sitting!
The image of a tough former Navy Seal who is wonderful with children couldn't be any sexier ! Add in the fact that he's big and strong and swoon worthy! Kate is a single, childless woman who suddenly is protecting her niece Lyla and out of her element. The road to true love is winding, but Elle James makes the trip rewarding, charming, scary and tender! The characters are great, the suspense is knuckle biting and the romance sweet. This tale moves very quickly but it's fantasy so who cares. I enjoyed the dynamic of older protagonists, the twist of a twin to Kate, and heartwarming 3 year old Lyla who is a trooper! This book is a compelling read, like every Elle James novel! Well worth my time!
What a great story for Chuck and Kate! There were so many sad moments with Chuck. Here Chuck has to protect a woman and child by pretending to be her husband and father to the the three year old little girl. It was a mission that would shake him to his core. He did not know if he truly had it in him to do so.
Kate's world is shaken when her niece is left on her door step, a phone call from her twin has her confused when she tells her to flee with Layla and seek out Hank Patterson in Montana, and then the attempt on her and her niece's life propel her to do just that. There she is introduced to her assigned protector, but she is not convinced that he is capable and says so. These two start off rough...LOL!!!
Montana SEAL Undercover Daddy is an excellent romantic suspense by Elle James. Ms. James has crafted a well-written book and populated it with a lovable cast of characters. When Kate's sister disappears leaving her daughter on Kate's doorstep and calls to tell her to get to the Brotherhood Protectors, Kate doesn't know what to think. Chuck lost his family while he was serving in the Navy. Now he's gone from SEAL to FBI to Brotherhood Protectors and Kate and her niece are his assignment. Kate and Chuck's story is packed with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I loved this book and can't wait for my next book by Elle James. Montana SEAL Undercover Daddy is book 9 of the Brotherhood Protectors Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.
I read a print copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Kate has loved and lost, though not in that way. She was jilted before and that was enough for her to decide not to try again. Instead, she'll let her sister take that path and be the best aunt she can to her niece, Lyla. However, that all changes when her twin disappears after dropping Lyla off one night.
Chuck, a retired SEAL and now employee of the Brotherhood, has also loved and lost, but his was more permanent as he tragically lost his wife and young daughter years before. He's put an impenetrable barrier around his heart, vowing to never risk it again, but that changes when he's assigned to protect Kate and Lyla. Suddenly he sees a future, one full of love and laughter, with them. But first, he must make sure they survive to have it.
Kate is attracted to Chuck and knows he feels it too. But with the danger surrounding them, and the mystery surrounding her sister, falling in love may have to wait.
Can Chuck protect Kate and Lyla? What happened to Kate's twin sister? Was she the actual target or was Kate? Will Chuck and Kate take a chance on love one more time knowing forever could be the prize? Is a HEA possible?
One-click now and follow along as two people battle danger while finding the person they were meant to spend their life with.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**
No two twins could be as different as night and day. When Rachel is in trouble, the person she knows she can rely on is Kate. Kate will do anything to protect her niece Lyla. Even search out Hank Patterson, who has a protection agency. Former Navy SEAL Chuck Johnson is one of the operatives that works for the Brotherhood. From the moment he sees Kate and Lyla, he wanted no part of the operation. He is still dealing with his past. To hear Kate say no way was he qualified, that got his hackles up. No way was this lady doubting his abilities. From that moment on, the sparks are flying. Danger is lurking and Chuck is in protection mode. No one is going to hurt them. Not on his watch.
I love the Brotherhood Protector series. Each one has a different storyline, but all have a HEA. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star rating is because her knowledge of weapons isn't quite what it should be. In more than one book is the perpetuation of the myth that an AR-15 is a high power weapon. It's not. It's actually a light armament that doesn't even have a kick to it. I own two, so I should know. It can cause some damage if used by evil men, but could not stand up to a fire fight with automatic machine guns or other legitimate weapons-of-war. Other than that all her books have been very well-written romances. I'm off to read the next one in the series!
Brotherhood Protectors are excellent! Kate Phillips gets a frantic call from her sister, who has just left her sleeping 3 year old on Kate’s doorstep. Kate is to take her to Hank Patterson for protection. He decides Chuck Johnson is the ideal Protector for this situation. I really enjoy Chuck and Kate. Each has issues to overcome that make the situation difficult. They are forthright about their feelings, and they begin to develop into something more. Kate isn’t very good about following instructions, though, so they’re soon in a highly volatile situation. Enjoy the excitement as Chuck and Hank’s team handle the situation! I am voluntarily reviewing an author’s copy of this book.
