On the brink of losing her bakery, the last thing Faith Yoder’s interested in is courting—until Hunter Schwartz returns to Willow Creek. After hiring him to deliver her treats to a Christmas festival, Faith’s determined their relationship will stay strictly professional. But despite a secret that’s kept her single, Faith can’t help but wish she and Hunter could become husband and wife.
As soon as I saw the cover of this book, I fell in love with the cute couple on the cover. I’m a fan of Love Inspired books and know the books are sweet, clean and heartwarming. This book is certainly sweet, clean ,heartwarming and a bit humorous.
Faith Yoder and Hunter Schwartz are both easy to like and I enjoyed their story so much. They get off to a bad start when she nearly misses running into him with her bicycle. There were no injuries to any human beings although several eggs were broken. Yep, Faith needed those eggs fill a cupcake order for her struggling bakery.
This is a super cute and fast read that has Hunter working for Faith delivering her baked goods to the Christmas Festival. It was hard to see how these two could ever get themselves to relax and enjoy each others company.
This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and I certainly look forward to reading more of her work. With Christmas fast approaching this book that is a perfect gift for the readers in your life from the young to the young at heart.
This was my first AI read book and while I wasn’t thrilled with it, it wasn’t as bad as I had anticipated. My main issue was the lack of feeling in the characters portrayal. A really good narrator invokes what the character feels. The other issue was the little kids sounded the same as the grown up characters. A few times it had me questioning what was going on.
The story itself was a sweet Christmas read with everything you want and expect with a Love Inspired book.
Poignant and funny. Faith and Hunter both struggle with their own issues as well as a healthy dose of pride. Right from their disastrous first meet these two are at cross-purposes. One says something and the other skews the meaning and gets riled or hurt. Lots of leaping to conclusions that stirs up heartache and confusion. And their listening skills are practically non-existent. I yoyoed between frustrated groans and exasperated laughter as I read my way to the end -- wondering all the while how these two could make a go of it. I love a hard won happily ever after and that's exactly what Lighte delivers in this captivating Amish romance.
Faith feels like her shop is her one hope for the future after being rejected over her possible inability to have children. Meanwhile, Hunter is struggling, too, with injuries from an accident that took the life of his father making physical labor difficult just as the bills are piling up, and he’s rapidly losing confidence in himself as a provider.
I liked Hunter and Faith together in the moments where they weren’t taking everything the other said the wrong way, whenever they’re truly combining forces for her business, or in reaching out to a young employee, you very much get the sense that they could make for really great romantic partners.
However, there were ever so many more moments where Hunter and Faith took offense over things that were said, often things that weren’t intended to offend, it continuously set them off and it isn’t until very late that either clarifies why the comments cut deep, so it felt like one misunderstanding/squabble/need to apologize after the next and at a certain point it felt pretty tiresome to read. It is understandable, when you feel vulnerable about something, Faith with her weight and infertility, Hunter with his injuries that in his mind make him less of a man, that those things are sore spots easily bruised and things they wouldn’t be all that eager to discuss with anyone, but at the same time holding it all in while lashing out about it made for a somewhat frustrating and occasionally repetitious story.
With the heroine and hero so frequently triggered by one another, their romance was a bit too bumpy of a ride to get all that swept up in, however, there were some other aspects of the story that I did enjoy more, for instance, given that Hunter and Faith are pretty guarded especially with one another, it was refreshing to have a character like Ivy (on the autism spectrum?) who’s upfront and matter of fact when she speaks. I also like the relationship between Faith and her sister-in-law, how imperfect their dynamic was, prickly yet honest and caring, and I thought it evolved nicely once Faith took a bit of a vocal stand.
There are very, very few 'Love Inspired' books that get five stars from me, but this one definitely deserves all of the stars I can give it.
Well-written, descriptive, and heartfelt, this book conveys more emotion and sentiment than most, and it REALLY made a difference.
Faith has a bakery that she's overly-focused on, to the point where she's neglecting her extended family and faith... but she does this, because she is unable to have children, so she's desperate to have a means to support herself and not be a burden on her family, as well as to have a purpose in her life.
Hunter was in an accident in which his father was killed, and he was injured so badly that it was unlikely he would walk again - although he's defying the odds, he's in constant pain, and because he can't work (but supports his mother), they're struggling. He's desperate not only to have a means to provide for himself and his own, but also to find some alternate way of finding self-worth.
More, the English aren't treated as peripheral 'foreigners' in this one. It was a VERY nice change, in my opinion - from Tyler at the hospital to the gentleman giving Hunter work to the sweet Englisch customers telling Faith how Hunter spoke so affectionately about her at the market... it went a long way in healing my heart, I think.
Both of them are so wrapped up in hiding their pain, their inner secrets, and financial struggles that they constantly are setting each other off with misconstrued comments meant to hide problems, and yet they cause more problems, in the end. It's a book of struggle... but it ends SO sweetly, and is such a tender journey...!
I have absolutely NOTHING bad to say about the book. The secondary characters are sweet, the setting is wonderful, and the love that slowly blossoms in spite of the pain and fear is lovely. Well done, Carrie - I'll be looking for a copy of this to add to my collection of 'keepers'.
An Amish Holiday Wedfing is the second book written by Carrie Lighte in her new series Amish Country Courtships. This is such an amazing story wrapping so many qualities in it. The story takes the reader on a journey that keeps them reading. I enjoyed how nicely it all played out.
The characters are amazing and I enjoyed getting to know them. Faith is strong, independent, and loving but also very goal oriented. She can also be very stubborn which causes a lot of turns to the story. Hunter can be described the same way. With each of these two amazing characters hiding a secret will things ever turn out right? So many distractions cause the wrong reactions. The author has done an amazing job telling this story thru all the characters.
I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached by anyone to post a favorable review. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others. I look forward to more amazing stories from this author in the future.
Congratulations to Carrie Lighte on writing another fantastic story for her readers to enjoy.
Faith Yoder is trying to save her bakery and is working desperately to raise the extra money the landlord wants. Hunter Schwartz has returned to help his Aunt Ruth and is facing challenges of his own. She hires him to deliver baked goods to the Christmas festival. Both have their own reasons to try and keep their relationship professional.
I enjoyed getting to know Faith and Hunter. I also enjoyed getting to know the secondary characters. The setting was great and made me want to go visit. The Christmas theme was also a wonderful addition. It was an enjoyable story leading to a satisfying finish.
A charming romance set in an Amish town involving a neighboring bakery and cannery. Faith and Hunter were delightful to read about, and loved their interactions both with each other and with those around them. I liked the little tidbits explaining Amish customs and traditions sprinkled throughout the book; it was just enough to be educational but not too overbearing to distract from the story. Even the occasional sprinkle of non-English phrases was easy to follow along with and understand. A cozy read to pass the holiday season with.
Exceptional story of two who are left over from previous relationships, but develop a working bond that can be contentious. She is focused on her business and he is focused on simply staying afloat financially. Both have health issues a nd are too hard headed to realize their similarities.
Loved this story of Faith and Hunter. I love how both families are so loving and it shows how just when you thought something was impossible it is shown to you how it is! This story is so well written that you will fly right through it and enjoy it all the way.
It was ok. I'm not much into amish books but read this as part of a christmas challenge. The entire book focused on hunter and his injuries and faith and her not being able to have kids. It was different and clean but I think more could've gone into the story line.
I enjoy these quick reads by Carrie Lighte. Each of her books seems to present a unique problem. Unlike many other Amish books I've read that follow a similar plot line.
I really enjoyed this one. It was a bit different than other Amish books that I read. Both the characters were likable and had real life issues that they needed to overcome.
This book was the perfect start for the holiday season, I love the characters and the story line. I didn’t want it to end and would like a second book about this community and the main characters.
Very good story about how love and God can help overcome any handicap. I live with pain every day too so i understand how it can make you think you're not good enough
