A billionaire silver-screen hero finds a real-life heroine in this sizzling romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Ruth Cardello.

Sage Revere follows her instincts, which have led to an oddball career as a plant psychologist. As a side project, she also helps strangers find happiness. Sage has a gift for knowing who needs her help, and the brooding hunk of a loner she meets in a coffee shop certainly fits the bill. She can feel it.

On-screen, Eric Westerly is the hottest superhero there is. Offscreen, he’s out of rehab; incognito in London; and reevaluating his life, his career, and his broken family ties. All he wants is to be alone. Then along comes some daft plant whisperer who gets under his skin. She’s also sweet, sexy, and irresistible. But what’ll happen when she finds out who he is—that underneath the gray spandex, he’s just a regular guy with a Batcave?

But Eric isn’t the only one with a few secrets. And when the masks come off, Sage and Eric are going to have to trust each other if they want a Hollywood happy ending.

I did like this romance quite a bit. I was really curious about how Eric's story would go after finishing the previous book in the series. He is a really interesting character and I was looking forward to learning more about him. I ended up having a great time with this audiobook.

Eric seems to have everything. He is wealthy and everyone seems to love him. He is a well-known actor that is best known for his portrayal of the superhero Water Bear Man. He is somewhat lost and is having a hard time figuring out how to move forward. Sage comes from a wealthy family but she takes care of herself. She works to help people through her chosen career as a plant psychologist.

Eric is hiding in plain sight as an average guy named Wayne when he meets Sage. I liked these two together from the start and thought that they had a lot of chemistry together. Eric / Wayne does have a few moments where he makes some pretty bad decisions and doesn't always treat Sage in the manner she deserves. Some of that blame could be placed with Delinda who is busy making things difficult and interfering in things that really should be left alone. I was pleased to see the Westerly family back together before this book came to an end. It was great to check in with the characters from the earlier books and to see everyone start to come together.

I would recommend this audiobook to others. I thought that Teri Clark Linden continued to do a great job with the series. She is able to cover both the male and female parts of the story without any problems. I think that she has a very pleasant voice and I was able to listen to the book for hours at a time. I wouldn't hesitate to listen to more from this narrator or pick up another book written by Ruth Cardello.

Initial Thoughts
Maybe 3.5 stars but I am feeling generous :) I did like this one better than the previous one in the series but I do prefer the first two books in this series. I did like Sage from the start and am pretty sure that I have never read a book with a character listing plant psychologist on her resume. Eric / Wayne did have a few moments were he acted like an idiot in the book. Delinda filled her role of overstepping boundaries once again. Besides Delinda, the rest of the family didn't play too big of a role until closer to the end of the story. I thought that the narrator did a great job with this one.

Sage likes to help people and that’s her job. She goes around town, finds someone in a bad place and helps them get better by using plants. And Eric seems to be one of those. Every day he sits by in the coffee shop alone with an unhappy attitude. So she can’t help it, she has to help him or at least try.
But Eric’s not up for it. All he wants is to be left alone and pretend he’s not an Hollywood actor just out of rehab. But at the same time, he can’t ignore her, or her looks.

So sad I finished this book. I really wanted to read about their story for a few more days but I just couldn’t help it and so I devoured the book....

A romantic comedy that broke my heart and made me cry!

Another day in paradise, ladies. First of all, it's the second arc i read this week, part of a series I haven't read yet and I wish I did. I need to read the first three books asap.

Let me tell you how this managed to make me cry.
It's the story of "two lost souls who found acceptance and comfort in each other". She's a plant psychologist (what an amazing job to have! - kudos to the author for this "novelty") and he's a big Hollywood star, trying to get his life on track. He meets her, while wearing the disguise he created to be able to go out in public. She gets his pain from the moment she sets her eyes on him, so of course she sets her mind to "help him", since her purpose in life is to be happy and make the others around you find their happiness. She helps them achieve that.

Sage is one of the most beautiful fictional persons I had the pleasure to meet. Her soul is beautiful, the way she lives her life, the way she sees the good in people, the way she gives second and third chances so easily, how she stands up for herself when necessary, but still in a gentle way, not hurting the others feelings and I could go on forever.
He's broken. That's it. The only way to describe him. He completed a rehab, isolated himself from his big dysfunctional family, but stumble upon the love of his life, who took him out of his shell and they found their HEA together.

I cried because of their pain when dealing with their families. I cried because Sage is amazing, despite having such horrible parents. I cried because Eric hurt her, but she was still standing strong and finally, I cried when I got the advice how to manage the hurtful things people say to you.

In case you missed my point, this is a book you don't want to miss. It's not your typical rom com, full of clichés and vain characters. It's simply a beautiful life lesson.
Ruth Cardello, thank you! I promise to read your other books as well.

"ARC provided through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review."

It would be an absolute honor to have you as my guest on my blog too. Stop by anytime you want :)

Hollywood Heir by Ruth Cardello is book Four in the Westerly Billionaire series. This is the story of Sage Revere and Eric Westerly. I haven't yet read the previous book, so for me this is a standalone book.
Eric is a Hollywood actor just out of rehab not feeling that he is in a good place when Sage enters his life. Sage likes to make people happy that are feeling down or out. So she has noticed how Eric appears and wants to help him...even when he doesn't want it.
This was such a great story! I so enjoyed Ms. Cardello's writing and this just made me more into her books....loved it!

A plant psychologist? Yes, I'm here for this. Unfortunately, all the characters kinda suck. Sage is a bit of a doormat mixed with the less offensive Manic Pixie Girl characteristics. And the plant psychologist thing is not at all interesting. It doesn't even make sense. Eric has some issues that I personally find stupid and he's a total asshole at all times and he's a lying liar whose pants are full of lies. And he only intends to lie more, he's actually pretty excited about lying. Honestly, he's coming across as bipolar with these manic depressive mood swings. Delinda is ridiculous and rude and I wanted her to fall down the stairs and break an ankle. Literally the only character I liked was Eric's friend Reggie, who is already happily married with kids so there's no chance of him getting his own book in this series. All these sucky characters keep making dumb decisions and I'm just getting dumber for reading it. I made it to 38%.

Sage and Eric worked for one another, I think. That said, I found them just a little too quirky to be able to relate to them completely. Maybe this is just me, and honestly, it probably is...but the quirks of the characters in this pulled me out of the story enough that I was not really able to engage with the romance of it.

I have read and enjoyed other titles in this series, and by this author, but this one didn't work for me.

I wasn't a huge fan of this one. I found parts of it silly and I never really connected with these characters. There are good parts to the book though. It's well written and the characters are well developed. Individually I like both Sage and Eric. I didn't feel the chemistry between them though. So while not a terrible book it just didn't work for me.

A really great series of contemporary romances , following the westerly family.
This is Eric and Sage’s story .
The two in desperate need of acceptance and love by their families find it first with each other.
But to find love first you must have trust .
Excellent book and addition to the series.

Humor and heartache are an odd combination, but Cardello makes it work. Hollywood Heir is not your average poor rich man story. Eric wears the weight of the world on his shoulders. He's haunted by abandonment issues, family problems self recrimination. All as the world watches. Self destruction has landed him in a dark place. Until fate sees fit to shine some light his way. Sage is a plant psychologist. She may seem odd, is often kooky, but has a good head on her shoulders and an even more beautiful heart. She has a gift for reading people and she can see Eric's pain. Can she help him before he completely self-destructs? A broken hero, an unlikely heroine and an empathetic ear are hard to resist when they come from the imagination of Ruth Cardello. A nice warm hug for the heart.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the fourth in the series - and I would say that you will understand the family dynamics far better if you have read them in order. The Westerly's have a complicated relationship with each other - and possibly Eric's relationship with his family is the most complex of all.

Sage is a fun character, who we initially get to know thanks to her sensible lawyer friend, and understand that she had an unhappy childhood, and is avoiding her parents even now. Her chosen career - which is hardly lucrative, but keeps her happy - is to make people happy via the power of plants, and a bit of meddling in their lives! It is something which confuses Eric no end. He has been hiding away post-rehab, and in a heavy disguise finds that her happiness is something he craves.

As the story unfolds, and we meet up with the rest of his family, and most importantly his interfering grandmother, it is easy to see how Sage and Eric could find comfort in each other. The whole bat cave thing is rather crazy, but fun, and the ending is sweet and as kooky as the two of them are!

Now to see what befalls Nicolette!

Eric Westerly’s Story is my favorite, so far, in this series. It was much more emotional with the depth given to each character and it was wrapped up in a stunning delivery of beautiful words.

Hollywood Heir, Westerly Billionaire Book 4,  Ruth Cardello

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre:, Romance, General fiction (adult)

I didn't notice til about to write my review that the blurb classes this as comedy – and I can't recall finding any of it comedic, unless you count things like Sage being a plant psychobiologist and Eric being a huge film star but slap on a fake scar and he can go unknown....

sadly this book was a fail for me. I did finish it but it was a hard slog. That's not the book's fault, its just not to my taste. I found the plots sounded good but in practice were thin, and the characters were frankly dislikeable. Sage is a bit of a doormat, Eric is a bit self obsessed, distrusts everyone and came over as pretty cold and big headed. As for Delinda, his grandmother, she's a rich, manipulative awful woman. I know she appears to have the best interests of the family at heart, but its what She feels is best, not necessarily what actually IS best.
I got so annoyed at Sage, got away from shallow parents and creates her own way, and yet lets Eric walk all over her. This idea too that she's walked away from serious money, has an ad hoc income where she can barely meet rent and yet lives as if she's got money was strange. If you're short on rent, short on cash its something that you're aware off constantly, everything you do has an eye to can you afford it, and yet Sage came over as never really considering her cash situation, a rich girl playing at poverty.
Eric and the disguise, wouldn't work. Then he tells her the names of his four siblings, and given they are worldwide famous that should have been a giveaway.
I loved Reggie though, he was the comedy element I guess, but for me he was the star of the book! The bat-cave, I want one!

Stars:Two, sadly a slog to finish, maybe if I'd liked the characters it would have been different. As always that's just my view, I can see others love it, and you may too.

Sage and Eric fix each other!

Sage Revere loves to help people and find out what makes them happy and when she sees an unhappy looking guy named Wayne Easton with a bad scar on his face, she knows that she will make his life better. Wayne Easton (AKA Eric Westerly) is using the scar to throw off people’s attention so he can have some privacy because of popularity of his Water Bear Man superhero movies. Eric was so used to people wanting something from him that he didn’t know how to deal with Sage who didn’t want anything.

Sage and Eric had similar upbringings in that they both came from money but Sage had walked away from hers because her divorced parents used her as a weapon against each other where Eric’s parents were divorced and battled because of the issues that ended their marriage which are covered in the book.

Hollywood Heir is the fourth book in the Westerly Billionaire series but reading the other books in the series helps the reader understand the background of the family and relationships to each other.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I am enjoying the series but this was probably my favorite. Eric has come so far. In the other books, I didn't really care for him but he's redeemed himself, in my eyes anyway.

Sage is quirky but fun. I liked her from the start.

Delinda ( the Westerly matriarch - grandmother) is finally coming around ( a little! ). She's learning that her tendency to take over isn't winning her any favors in her family. She likes to stir the pit, that's for sure.

Reggie, Finn and Michael play their parts also. Great supporting "cast".

Sage and Eric such an emotional story. Eric is a man with so many issues that he shall we say carries a lot of baggage. Sage is a bit of a quirky duck, she is a psychologist for plants. She has such a keen sense of reading people and she is very sensitive to their needs . These two unlikely characters may be just what they both need .
A story about finding each other , healing and learning to love.

I received this from Netgalley:

I think what made me want to read the book was her career as a plant psychologist. I don't know that I paid much attention to the rest of the description because I just had to know what was up with that.

It turns out the plant psychology thing is really a ruse for Sage to engage with other people in order to help them find happiness.

What I liked about this novel is the focus on the internal lives of both characters, their friendships with their best friends, and the real humanity that Cardello uses to draw the characters, even the truly obnoxious ones. This also wasn't the over-the-top movie-star lifestyle sort of book. Both Sage and Eric had serious childhood issues with their families that molded them into damaged people. Neither find it easy to overcome the damage to become whole enough to be together.

I thoroughly enjoyed their journey because they seemed very real, very normal in their feelings and concerns, and even though romances are by nature very positive and uplifting, this one is more so. I'd definitely read this one and will probably check out the earlier books in he series. The fairy-tale parts of the money and royalty wasn't overdone, either, which made me happy since I was reading for the relationship and Cardello really did well with it.

I am really loving this new series. The Westerly family is as screwed up as you can get, which means great stories. Eric has a lot of issues in his life, and I like that he was trying to get away from all the fame and just find himself. Sage was hilarious. I loved her quirky personality and her sweet, giving soul. She has her own issues to deal with, but she always seems to want to help others first. I really liked how they met, despite his deception about who he really was. They had great chemistry and were really good for each other. Delinda continues to wreck havoc, but she is warming on me. I continue to hope for the best in regards to her behavior. I look forward to more of the Westerly's.

Finding One's Self!!!

Sage Revere was a plant psychologist who always followed her heart. She was also in the business of helping people find their happiness. One day she met a gorgeous and brooding man in a coffee shop, and knew instantly that he needed her help.

Eric Westerly, an actor who had his ups and downs. On tv he played a hot superhero while offscreen, he just came out of rehab and was hiding out in London. All he wanted was to be left alone as he took some time to evaluate his personal and professional life.

But his quiet time went up in flame when he met a beautiful and sensitive plant whisper who got under his skin. Even though he pushed her away, he knew he had to get to know her better. He was tired of being used by women because of his fame.

Sage desperately wanted to help Eric, what she didn't know was that his wounds ran deeper that she thought. He'd been betrayed so badly by two people he thought he could trust. Breakdown his walls will no be easy. She was offered a job by her mom to help Delinda Westerly but she refused. Her attitude surprised yet intrigued the older woman.

What a wonderful treat it was to see the matriarch of the Westerly clan wooed by the King of Vandorra. Tadeas knew how to make his beloved happy, he wanted her to be close to all her grandchildren. He did what he had to do to make things happen.

As Sage and Eric grew closer, the latter wanted to tell the former who he really was. When a misunderstanding took place he tested her in a way that deeply hurt her. He wanted to make it up to her but she gave him her own test. Which he passed.

To see him reconnecting with his family was heartwarming. It was great to see both Eric and Sage find happiness. Bella was a beautiful surprise. Loved every second of this incredible story.

HOLLYWOOD HEIR is the fourth book in Ruth Cardello's WESTERLY BILLIONAIRE series. It was humorous, enchanting and . Another magnificent book by Ruth Cardello. Looking forward to more in this series. Two thumbs up!

Eric and Sage ... a wonderful pairing

Not having read the previous books in this series I was unsure of who the Westerly's were. In no way has that affected this story - it definitely can be read as a standalone and be thoroughly enjoyed. Ms Cardello does give little insights into the family make-up, enough to understand what has occurred previously. This one is the story of Eric Westerly and Sage Revere.

I thoroughly enjoyed their story. Eric is an actor recently out of rehab, who has ditched his opulent lifestyle and has commenced living among those less fortunate than himself. His is a broken man, who has very strong trust issues with women, for very understandable reasons. That begins to alter after he meets Sage, a young woman who makes it her mission in life to help people. How does she do this? With plants of course!!! Both have families that they would rather forget, but who seem to come out of the woodwork when least expected.

Once Eric (using his alter ego) and Sage meet and begin to form a friendship, emotions start to run a bit rampant. Sage sees that Eric is hiding some form of pain, but is unable to work out what it is, and Eric is wishing he could tell Sage the truth about himself. An interfering grandmother, an over protective BFF and an employee who is more a friend, all make this a memorable story.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one and will definitely go back and read the others. A recommended read.

This is book four in the Westerly Billionaire Series and it follows Eric Westerly and Sage Revere.

Meet the beautiful and care-free Sage Revere. Sage always follows her instincts, which in-turn led Sage into an oddball career. Sage is a plant psychologist and she also helps people find happiness. As a side project, she also helps strangers find happiness. Sage suddenly meets a handsome but scarred individual who she doesn't recognise in a coffee shop. Sage then feels that she can help bring the happiness back into his life. She can totally feel it.

The handsome but brooding Eric Westerly. Eric is one of the hottest superheroes there is out there. However when he's off-screen, Eric's fresh out of rehab. Hiding away from his crazy family by living in London. Eric has decided to break ties with his family and is now trying to sort his life out. Eric wants one thing and one thing only and this is to be left alone.

Then Sage appears in his life and everything seems as though it could be happy ever after until the first time they share a brief but toe-curling kiss he suddenly walks away from her. This leaves Sage so unsure of herself as she's opened up her already fragile heart caused by her family to shatter even more.

Eric knows that he isn’t the only one with many few secrets. Can Sage handle who Eric really is when he takes the mask off? All that needs to happen is for Sage and Eric need to have to respect, trust and possibly love each other deeply if they both desperately want a Hollywood happy ever after ending.

Eric Westerly is trying so very hard to hide from the world. He hates who he is and is angry with everybody and everything especially his meddling family. When he meets Sage Revere he doesn’t know what hit him. Lies and secrets nearly destroy this relationship before it gets started especially when Eric’s grandmother decides to interfere.

This is the fourth book in the Westerly series and I love going back to visit this crazy, mixed up, dysfunctional family. It is always fun to see what everybody is up to and this one is no different. I knew Eric’s story would be heart wrenching because he has so many hurts hidden deep down that have to come out and be dealt with before he can get his HEA. I loved Sage’s attitude toward life especially and in spite of the parents she grew up with. There is a lot of fun humor in this story that this author is famous for as it adds so much to this story. The characters of Bella and Reggie add so much laugh out loud moments that are such a great support to Eric and Sage. You never know what is going to happen next with them involved. There is also a very moving scene with Eric and his grandmother that I didn’t see coming but was so very lovely. If you haven’t read this series you are missing out on true romance with a little not so perfect thrown in the mix! Hollywood Heir is another hit for this author!

I received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

Ruth Cardello is a fabulous writer...though i have not read any of the books in the " Westerly Billionaire " series , i have read other titles by Ruth ...This is the fourth book in this series & can be read as a standalone...

The hero, Eric Westerly, a Hollywood heart throb is hiding out from his celebrity status in his hometown of London. . He is at a crisis in his life, doesn’t know who he is anymore with tons of unnecessary baggage..... The heroine , Sage Revere is a plant psychologist ( an unconventional career ) but in actuality she helps people by solving there issues in life, make them happy... She sees Eric who is in disguise in a coffee shop and decides that she needs to fix whatever is wrong with him.

Eric is attracted by Sages unusual personality. They make a great combination & end helping each other through there insecurities , circumstances & unhappiness... They fallin love... Boththe characters have been well presented by Ruth ( Sage & Eric compliment each other ...

The message & meaning behind the story is so true ... inner happiness & peace are all u need to lead a good life ... Awaiting to read other books in this series i have missed ... Do read it...

“Everyone comes into our lives for a reason.”

A Plant psychologist? I recall thinking when I started that this could not be a real thing, but now having read the last page, I am like “Heck yes! Plant psychologist for the win!” Unusual as it sounds and seems at first, New York Times bestselling author, Ruth Cardello manages to sway and swoon you into loving every character in her latest installment of the Westerly Billionaire series, Hollywood Heir.

Meet Sage Revere, the sweet woman who finds her way into taking care of your plants while also helping your heart. She finds people, and sometimes people find her, who needs a little nudge or a little help in finding the happiness they’ve lost or the joy they’ve forgotten exists in the world. She’s sweet and seems pretty odd at first but she’s hands down, one of the characters that makes the story as vibrant as it is.

Like anyone who’s a colourful soul, Sage’s best friend, Bella is a bit more realistic, working as a lawyer, she is also Sage’s sounding board and the one who brings her back to reality when she seems to be drifting off of the ground. She’s caring and they’ve known each other long enough to be more like family.

“To love and be loved – isn’t that what life is all about?”

Wayne Easton, who is actually Eric Westerly – aka Water Bear Man – wants to be left alone, he’s fine drinking his coffee every morning and just being one of the regular people who fits into the background. But then this oddball of a woman appears and manages to make him question himself along with her self-proclaimed career that doesn’t seem normal at all. Yet something pulls him in and keeps him close to her, wanting to learn more about her and her mission.

Does she know who he really is?

Is she a bit crazy?

Why can’t he get her out of his thoughts?

The story is unique, albeit it does include a millionaire – and one who can be a bit cocky and selfish – it is different, a good, refreshing and yes – I might have cried a bit – kind of different. Starting in a coffee shop with a broody stranger and ending with a dinner table full of crazy family members, it also teaches that flaws aren’t bad, they just make you human.

The smile returned – the one that made him wonder how he’d lived a single day without it.

Hollywood Heir is worth losing some sleep over!

I enjoyed this fun and flirty romance. Yes, there were some improbable situations and life decisions that had me shaking my head, but I guess that was to illustrate the ‘odd duck’ attraction between Eric and Sage. As much as I enjoyed their growing relationship, it was the family and friends surrounding them that made it so fun. Despite it being book 4 in the series, it could be a stand-alone…but I suggest reading the others to get a better feel for the family dynamics. All in all, a quick enjoyable read.

To heir is human...

In this tale, the fourth of five, a plant psychologist meets a man who is trying to be incognito.

Sage Revere is an ethnobotanist/plant psychologist who looks for those in need or needs help. When she keeps noticing a man with a scar at her local coffee shop, she decides he needs her help. For what, she isn't sure, but wants to make his unhappiness go away.

Unbeknownst to her, Eric Westerly is an actor with a successful superhero movie franchise, but he is struggling to get his life back together after a stint in rehab. Thus, his disguise.

Still despite getting off on the wrong foot with Wayne/Eric, they connect and are more alike than what appears on the surface.

A quirky contemporary romance with family issues makes for a fun read. It stands alone, but suspect that a few of the family dynamics would make more sense if the previous books in the series were read.

Full disclosure: received this book through a First Reads Goodreads giveaway, but that in no way affected this review.

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) I have to say that I didn't love this book, which was sad since I tend to like this dysfunctional family, yes some of them annoy me but I still enjoy their stories. However, this one did not do it for me at all. I found Eric to be selfish, and I know we were supposed to feel sorry for him because he was supposedly this sad broken person, but I really didn't feel that he just thought of himself and I didn't like him at all. I also found this story line to be ridiculous, now I may be just ignorant and this is truly a profession I just didn't care for it and thought it was as crazy it sounded and understood why everyone raised there eyebrow at it. Sage wasn't and unlikable person, I actually did like her and thought how she saw the good in everyone a little sweet if not naive but I did like that part. I also liked Bella and enjoyed reading of the previous characters and even though I wasn't crazy about Eric I did like the other characters which honestly saved this story.

Hollywood Heir may be book 4 in the Westerly Billionaire but each of these books can be read as stand-alones I know this because I haven’t read all of this series yet I still really enjoyed this book.
Eric Westerly is a Hollywood heartthrob who is hiding away from his celebrity status he is struggling with his life and the last thing he needs is the paparazzi or fans following him around. Sage Reverve lives life to her own beat she has the title of a plant psychologist but truth be known she just likes helping people by solving problems and issues they may be having in their life’s and when she spots Eric in a coffee shop she can tell he is a man needing help problem is he is not sure he needs help let alone from a girl who’s friend takes a snap shot of him......
This is a story about a broken hero a unconventional heroine and a whole of lot of love. I loved this book for many reasons but the most important one was it left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. I can’t wait to read more from the very talented Ruth Cardello.

This is another installment of the Westerly family, and this one features Eric Westerly who is an Actor as Superhero currently in London under a false name- Wayne Easton. And his nemesis and rescuer is Sage Revere, a plant psychologist who for some crazy reason has an oddball habit of rescuing rich souls who's lives are in a mess. An Eric is always in some kind of mess.. he just got out of rehab and is hiding out to rethink his life. Hiding with a different name to hide from his fans of his famous character. Trying to adjust to what has happened to him.
And Sage is always drawn to sad rich people by some strange power when they need help.
This story takes you through ups and downs of life and relationships. I found it to be intriguing and still romantic and funny at times. Ruth changed up this story from her others and it makes it special. You'll have to read it to see what happens cause I don't give spoilers! You will enjoy it!
