I LOVE a good taboo story and I ESPECIALLY love a good raunchy, raw, and gritty erotic romance. With that being said, my expectations may have gotten the better of me on this one. The author includes in the forward that this was his first attempt at a romance novella, and that's evident in the writing. It read more like a an erotic short story with a villain thrown in for good measure. I felt like the reader is told instead of shown quite frequently, and it kept me from totally connecting with the story. There is very little in terms of character background or development, and there is very little build up to Tony & Brady's relationship. All in all, I would give this about 2.5 stars, but since this was a first attempt at a romance novella, I'm rounding up to three stars. I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store for Sky Boss!

Let me start by saying that this book definitely is not for everyone, apart from the taboo aspect it also involves cheating. Overall the story is okay and it's well written. I feel that the characters were not fully developed, we didn't get much background on them and I just couldn't connect with them or with the story. It did have some hot scenes and as a first for Sky Boss it's good. I am looking forward to more works from this author. I chose to read and review this book. It is a very interesting book to read. I love this genre of books. The tabooness of it is what attracts me to read this one. I have read many books like this one. As always it is full of steam everywhere and action. The interactions and interest between the main characters is well written so is the flow of events. The sparks are everywhere.
It just was not very good. The plot felt rushed, despite being novella length. Since sex and internal monologues were dominant, the actual events seemed random and disconnected up to the dues-ex-machinas finish. It'd have probably been better to ditch the psychological thriller aspect and focus on taboo erotica/romance.
I picked this up because I love taboo stories, and we do get that here with Brady and his stepfather. But this fell short for me in pretty much every other way. It all felt underdeveloped, especially the plot line with Jerry. Like we were just getting a peek at an actual story but not enough to make me really care about anything regarding Jerry. It could have used a good editor for both development and proofing.
This is short (and ended at 82% on my Kindle) so no real harm done in trying it out for anyone else who likes taboo.
