ROGUE and GAMBIT are enjoying this mission in paradise more than anyone expected, but is the actual mission getting lost in the process? When things are this sexy, does it really matter? Yes, yes, of course it does. PROBABLY. Who or what is LAVISH? And can Rogue and Gambit escape its grasp? Do they even want to?
KELLY THOMPSON has a degree in Sequential Art from The Savannah College of Art & Design. Her love of comics and superheroes have compelled her since she first discovered them as a teenager. Currently living in Portland, Oregon with her boyfriend and the two brilliant cats that run their lives, you can find Kelly all over the Internet where she is generally well liked, except where she's detested.
Kelly has published two novels - THE GIRL WHO WOULD BE KING (2012) and STORYKILLER (2014) and the graphic novel HEART IN A BOX from Dark Horse Comics (2015). She's currently writing ROGUE & GAMBIT, HAWKEYE, and PHASMA for Marvel Comics and GHOSTBUSTERS for IDW. Other major credits include: A-Force, Captain Marvel & The Carol Corps, Jem and The Holograms, Misfits, Power Rangers Pink, and the creator-owned mini-series Mega Princess.
Kelly's ambitions are eclipsed only by her desire to exist entirely in pajamas. Fortunately pajamas and writers go hand in hand (most of the time). Please buy all her stuff so that she can buy (and wear) more pajamas.
A good issue, but the "twist" I guess you'd call it was very predictable. I do really like the relationship between Gambit and Rogue. Also loved that there was fanservice in this issue with an ass shot of Rogue AND Gambit (wish we could have gotten a crotch shot of him too, but I know better than have Marvel go that far).
I know the odd time jumps are supposed to reflect the sinister aspects of their adventure, but I'm finding it frustrating for issues to end on cliffhangers that aren't resolved in a satisfying way. But, Thompson is doing a great job on the characterization of Rogue & Gambit, so there's a lot to enjoy here.
So far, I have enjoyed this series. For an X-Men spin off, this is quite a chicklit. I'm cool with this, reading this series makes me have warm and fuzzy feelings while reading this.
That aside, I've liked the art work so far. I like how Gambit's nose is drawn. Also, I like how Rogue is drawn, she still looks feminine even with super chick muscles.
Marvel's best couple continues on their retreat, but something just isn't right. They're having more trouble hanging on to the past, even as they attempt to face their own truths and say what needs saying. Not quite as powerful as the last issue, but still a very fun and fast paced read. Curious where it's headed.
my heart is so full!!! i love where kelly is taking this and how she's giving them room to work through their issues and that she's actually attempting to untangle some of their past mistakes. they really deserve less angst and drama and to have a happy healthy relationship ugh i love them sm
