Mom of two rockin' girls, Reader of everything, Author of The Dragon Guards series and many more surprises to come!
I am a sarcastic, sometimes foul-mouthed, not afraid to drink a beer, always southern woman with 2 of the most amazing teenage daughters, a menagerie of animals and a voracious appetite for reading who recently decided to write the storied running through her brain. I read my first book, Dr Suess' Cat in The Hat by myself at 4 and was hooked. I believe a good book along with shoes, makeup and purses will never let a girl down and that all heroes of all the books I have ever read or will ever write pale in comparison to my daddy! I am a sucker for a happy ending and love some hot sweaty sex with a healthy dose of romance. I am still working on my story but believe it will contain all of the above with as much SPICE as I can work into it. CHEERS!
This book made me laugh, cry like a baby and go OMG. A roller coaster ride of the most magnificent emotions from this author. Can be read as a standalone but for better understanding read the last few Dragon Guards books first. I have not been on tenterhooks or devoured a book as I did this for a long, long time. Julia Mills has outdone herself with this wonderfully deep, slightly dark and brilliant story. If you have read her previous Dragon Guards series be aware this book is no light-hearted read like they were. There is still the usual snark and humour associated with this author but this book hits the lows of grief, ultimate betrayal by kin and the despicable lengths humans will go to for their own self-serving ends. It also shows us the strength that a true bond will be able to withstand. Emotionally heart wrenchingly different from the other Dragon Guards series books, these Berserkers have gone through such trials as to be unbelievable. Just when you think you can breathe a sigh of relief you are once again holding your breath. Really was happy when Asher’s dad, King Niallan came to see him and did what he did. No spoiler. Cannot wait to have Willa come back to the lair to meet everyone after her first visit, especially as Queen of the Romani. She was just so brilliantly ballsy in her attitude. Poor Asher, a really special guardsman. What can you say about someone who held up under everything that was done to him and how he suffered even after escaping. Loved the fact he is a King to Willa’s Queen status. Taranis, what a so and so. He got off lightly. We have not had such a betrayal since the beginnings of the Dragon Guards series and then it was more that off a petulant child rather than the pure evil exhibited by Taranis. Hope we get to ride along when they take out the RED CASTLE ratbags. Lots of interesting characters I want stories for were introduced. Daniel Metcalfe, Mars and Charani. Not asking for much I know. This is my honest opinion of this book kindly given by Ms Mills.
Asher was tortured for 3 centuries by someone who should have had his bad. Mills can tell the man that invaded her mind is surrounded in black, murky, insanity, but she has to try to save him. This one is a bit different, Asher has been separated from his Dragon form, and he has more than one to be reunited with. These books are always well written. The author show imagination with the tortured she comes up with for these poor men, the female mates are getting more inventive. Great short read with a HEA.
This is Asher and Willa's story and dang is it AWESOME !! We met Asher is an earlier book and the poor man has been tortured for so long by the hand of his own twin that madness is taking over his mind . Willa , filled with magic and even though she has been put down and had slurs hurled at her she believes in herself . She know there is a man out there needing her help and has dreamed of a man who is in such pain but she does not know where he is but is sure she can help him . No one believed what she was saying so she decides to head out to find him . But her friend will not say home and comes with her even though she has told him to leave unless he can just give her the support she wants . I love the way Willa is willing to take on and get in the face of dragons ! What Asher did to come to her aid is out of this world !! What these two will go through and do for each other is wicked cool . Now this one is a bit darker than the usual but just let me say now that I do not believe it could have been written and different because it is so engaging that you will want to read it in one sitting and will prob growl at anyone or thing that tries to interrupt !! This is so well written and STRONGLY recommended to everyone who love a great love story !!
Book Reviewed: Asher (Dragon Guard Berserkers #2) My Rating: 5 Stars Author: Julia Mills Publication Date: 3/27/2018 Reviewed by: Tammy Payne- Book Nook Nuts
REVIEW I am truly loving this new series by this author and this book reminds me exactly why I love Berserkers. Asher is basically mind dead at this point in his long long life, He has been destroyed by one he should have been able to trust with his life no matter what. He knows, He smells her, She is coming for him....
Willa is spunky, sassy and an all around goof. I enjoyed her very much in this story. She is also ferocious when it comes to protecting those she loves. This book gives you everything you should enjoy in a book. We get action, deceit, betrayal, trust, loyalty and above all love and romance. Great book, Great couple...
This is another fun dragon guard romance, and I liked both Asher and Willow. This book, though, is much like the original Dragon Guard series -- the stories are very similar and quite repetitive. Many of the scenes, especially the love scenes and the mating rituals, are nearly identical in each book. I think the author copies them, with only a few changes, and reuses them in each book. Another complaint is that the dragon guard world has grown a bit confusing. There are so many paranormal characters now, and their powers and characteristics are often not well described.
This book was also a little more violent than I like. I get that Asher needed to escape from his captors, and also rescue Willow -- but I would have preferred for the violence to be less descriptive and detailed.
There was also a mistake in the story that bothered me. At one point, Willow's friend Mars is described as having lavender eyes. Then just a few pages later, he now has grey eyes. That mistake should have been caught.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Asher has been slowly and sadistically tortured for the last few hundred years! All made the worse when it is discovered that it was by the hand of hi own twin!
Willa is Romani, although she knows she has a deep untapped power, she could never foresee just HOW deep the power went. But she keeps getting flashes of a male in torment. She is determined to find him one way or the other and drags her friend, and heir to the Romani throne, with her.
Even when she learns that the trapped male is a dragon, Willia is not put off and refuses to back down from her commitment. Asher himself is no slouch when it comes to commitment, the things he puts himself through to escape his bonds and aid Willa are hugely self sacrificing. Great read and as usual a great way to meet up with some of the series regulars!
Asher is a Berserker dragon who was held captive for over 300 years. Now that he's escaped, he's still a prisoner...of his own mind and memories. He can no longer tell what's real as his mind keeps going back to his captivity and all that he experienced. Willa is a Romani whose grandmother always told was destined to be queen and mated to a powerful being. Willa wasn't sure about the prophesy until her inner-gypsy latches onto Asher and his suffering. Can she be what is needed to pull Asher away from his inner torment? Or will she too become a victim of his berserker?
A very interesting and enjoyable story full of great charcters, some suspense and danger, smexy-times, and a satisfing conclusion. I recommend this book and the entire series. Ms. Mills does dragons very well.
Willa is a Romani in origin. She has some magic in her that shows her visions. The visions that she is seeing now, shows her a man in chains surrounded by black magic. Asher is a Ruby dragon berserker who has been held captive and experimented on for three hundred years by a traitor dragon. This book took me a while to get into. It was about chapter eight that I got interested. I guess maybe the first chapters were a little confusing with the visions and memories happening as well as present time things involving Willa's anger and hatred. All I can say is that this is my least favorite book out of them all. This is just my opinion, many others like it.
Asher has been tortured to the point of madness and even though his mind is broken and his dragon is lost his soul has found his one true mate and there is nothing that is going to stop him getting to her. Feisty Willa is tired of being pushed aside just because she is a woman and will use the power of her ancestors and the rage built up from a century of disrespect so it is advisable to not get in her way. Can Willa bring Asher back from the brink and conquer both of their demons?
This was an enjoyable story that added to the dragon guard berserkers story and ensured that another one was rescued as well as successfully mated with his forever mate. Well written and enjoyable to read.
Asher was betrayed and experimented on for years. Willa knows that her destiny is bigger than what the head of her clan wants her to think. Together they can bring him back from the Madness. Will Willa be able to rescue him in time? Will Asher finally get revenge for his torture?
LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Asher and Willa. Loved Willa's snark and determination to rescue him at all cost. Didn't blame Asher for his revenge and thought he was actually more mild mannered then he could have been. Loved it and cannot wait for more dragons!

I just don’t care. I don’t care what happened to these characters. I don’t care how this book ends. And I don’t care to finish it.
The story itself was pretty interesting. But it’s so bogged down with mystical religious bullshit, the action takes a back seat to the mysticism. When the H/h mate it’s pages of blah blah blah ‘may the Gods smile down on this union’ blah blah blah.
It’s all background noise, with a little bit of action thrown in. And I don’t care to slough through.
This story is a lot darker than the first..Asher has been kept and tortured for 300 years...When he senses his mate....He breaks free...Injuring himself even more.. Willa has been put down and abused for years..But her mother told her many years ago that she was meant for much bigger and better things. Can she save Asher from himself? Can they defeat their enemies together? Love this series..Where is Julia going to take it next?
This was such an emotional read. Asher was betrayed, tortured and experimented on by his own brother - his twin brother. This alone is heartbreaking. Willa is a free wheeling good hearted gypsy witch destined to rule as Queen. The odds are stacked against Asher and Willa. They have to give everything they have to get where they need to be. I loved this story.
Emotionally thrilling, Heart pounding, action packed romantic adventure filled with danger, mystery and gripping, engaging and exciting twists and turns.
Asher is strong, dangerous, alluring and damaged (but not beyond repair) Willa is a dangerous, sassy and determined force of nature. She is done being pushed aside and His soul is clinging to the mate it has finally found. Highly entertaining and page turning read.
Asher and Willa’s Berserker Dragon story brings in one of my favorite people ; the Romani, Gypsy is the better known term and they make this book for me !! Willa needs all of her Romani heritage and skill to help bring Asher back from the brink of insanity. Neither realizing just how close to home the people who are wanting to harm them are . Nice, hot dragon sex, flying and a showdown 300 years in the making !! 5⭐️‘s and I can’t wait for book 3 !!
INTERESTING SERIES, BUT BECAME REPETITIVE AFTER A FEW BOOKS After reading a few of these, I decided to write one review for all of them. I found these books to be pretty good, if somewhat formulaic. If a reader is looking for a good story with some drama & where the main characters go through some terrible things, but ultimately end up together, I think they will enjoy this series of books. It is sometimes nice to read a "happily ever after" story.
Book 2 Asher this one has characters from the dragon guard.they say there was only 4 maybe there was at that time (300 years ago) but I'm sure we have had one or two show up before and the goddess was sat by two of there sick beds? I was hoping banning was going to show up picking up on his presence.poor Asher what some of these dragons get out though is not for the faint hearted.
I’m completely loving the Berserkers! Does it get any better than a hot alpha male, full of anger and angst, who can shift into not JUST a dragon, but 4 different forms? No. The answer is no, it doesn’t get any hotter. Asher was all of the above, plus broken, in pain, and seeking vengeance. Willa is just the strong, feisty female to fix him up and stand sentinel at his side. Awesome story, well written, and super engrossing!
If you have read book 1 of this new series and loved it then hold onto your hats folks because this story is a little darker then book 1 but a heck of a lot more exciting, IMHO.
I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book. This is book 2 of the Dragon Guard Berserkers series by the author.
ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest Another great addition to the Beserker's series Her stories are always well written. I loved the storytelling + the characters She takes you on a journey and you have to do is enjoy the ride. The storytelling + the character's build were awesome!
Asher is a Berserker gone wild after a 300 year imprisonment. Willa is a powerful Romani meant to heal Asher's soul. There's lots of magic in this one, we hear from a few of the clan and we have a very satisfying battle.
Tortured, experiments and plain evil, dog this dragon. With broken mind and body he finally escapes. Willa hears Asher call ..... so what's a girl to do. Why ? Save him of course. Great read, except for a few typo.
Awesome story. Loved how the girl is a spit fire and she help the guy/dragon. Would love to read more about these two. Well written, self contained story that is very entertaining to read.
Berserkers are awesome, and their stories are as big as them. Julia never lets me down, her books always deliver woe, wonder and lust in great amounts. Can't wait for the next!!!
Oh my I wanted to cry, poor Asher. The heroine was a strong woman. Only they both needed a little help and got it from an unexpected source. Loved the ending. But I would have liked to read more about the demise of the sadists who tortured Asher.
This as with so many other stories is a great example of why I love Julia Mills. She has a wonderful imagination as well as a special way of creating a story. Please don't miss this one. As well as all her books.
Another great book by Julia Mills. Thank you. Only complain is it's sometimes difficult to tell who is talking until you are almost done reading the passage. Then you have to read it again to "get it".
Familial rivalry within both families makes their union even sweeter. His past is horrid, it’s so sad what people will do to others in order to get ahead. She is good and strong and magical.
This book combines a lot of dark topics like torture so be prepared. Also, Romani magic, which is awesome! Willa has to reach Asher's mind to save him. You can feel the love between these two characters. Yes, they are fiction, but we'll written!!!
