Hurricane Izzy: An OBX Story
Hurricane Izzy starts innocently enough as a tropical wave off the coast of Africa. She quickly gains strength and speed as she fights her way across the Atlantic on a direct path to North Carolina's Outer Banks.
It’s also a story of man losing his dog and girl prior to the storm. The story keeps track of all 3 during the hurricane.
If you love adventure and romance, you'll love this story. Makes a great beach read!

Visit the Outer Banks
I love the Outer Banks and reading a story about a beloved place was great. I liked the characters and the unexpected romance. Good read!

It was a slow starter for me, and i was thinking this was written by a man, for a man. But it picked up and i got really into it around the time he went for the gas fill up just before the storm.
I bought this book ona recent visit to Corolla, at the quaint little book store there, because i wanted to see the Outer Banks from a locals perspective, and this gave me that fly on the wall insight i was looking for. Nerd that i am, i found myself googling places mentioned and of the ones i googled, they all existed, except the Happy Dolphin, and it too may exist but without a web presence. This book gave me insight into what its like to live through a hurricane and its aftermath. Living only 3 hours from the SC coast we catch some of the major hurricane winds and rain and this far inland it can be scary, but this book opened my eyes to thing actually being there is like.. Things id never considered. The neighborhood rallying together was heart warming and enjoyable. This book is a quick read, and worth the effort if you want insight into OBX life. It is not flowery with lots of descriptions of thing like peoples looks, colors of cars, etc, i have no idea about any of those things other that jack was a yellow lab, but that was fine by me because i think a lot off writers get to swept up in that stuff, and often i skim through those details i could make up for myself anyway.. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to see OBX from an insiders point of view. I gave this 4 stars, cuz you really have to blow my socks off to get 5 stars, but i would have given 4.5 stars if i could because it was close, my socks definitely felt the breeze.

Not what I expected ...
We've been to the OBX many times, which is why this book initially appealed to me. It was such a disappointment. It read like a dry history book with no creative writing at all. Giving it 2 stars was being generous. Sigh.
