I had waiting for the final book in The Black Angel Chronicles by Kristen Orlando, You Won’t See Me Coming, for a long time now, and it is safe to say that it is a strong conclusion. The book is extremely fast-paced, and it is easy to see the main character’s growth. The writing style is also immersive, and it adds to the suspense. I would definitely recommend this secret agent thriller to anyone looking for an intense and exhilarating read.

Probably my favorite in the trilogy about a teenage female operative!

While the premise may be far fetched, the brisk pace, nail nibbling suspense, and covert operations insights kept me reading until the wee hours.

Also, I figured it would be good to know how one can escape zip ties with only a piece of string, though I can imagine myself messing that up due to pure klutziness.

The third book of The Black Angel Trilogy lived up to the excitement that was built in the first two books. I loved that Harper was back in this book in a big way. The friendship between Reagan and Harper is so special and I love seeing it develop in this last part of the trilogy. It is great to see young women supporting each other the way these two do. Most importantly it is exciting to be with Reagan as she makes some of the most important decisions on the direction her life will take.

The conclusion to the trilogy – and, yes, Reagan continues to be haunted by her choices, angry with the Torres family, question her decisions, and fly right into the heart of danger.

The whole trilogy has been released! Now, it is safe to pick it up, lock yourself away, and gorge on the gloriousness of Reagan’s kick-ass skills, the creepy drug lords, all of the duplicity, and the electricity of her & Luke.

My only wish for this series is that Kristen Orlando had been a bit “Suzanne Collins-like” with her characters. Go a little “Prim-nasty” on someone. {Readers: you know which character of Ms. Orlando’s I mean!} Sometimes, I think authors just need to be a bit brutal. Yes, your readers will be “mad.” But I really hate that when a character “dies,” I can think to myself “Nope. They are not really dead.” And, I really hate it when I’m right and they aren’t dead.

*Thoughts*

You Won't See Me Coming is the third and final installment in author Kristen Orlando's The Black Angel Chronicles. This story picks up shortly after the events of You Won't Know I'm Gone. I urge readers to please read these books as they were released. I do so because every thing is absolutely connected. What happened in You Don't Know My Name carries over into the second book, and of course, the fall out from what happened in the second book, weighs heavily on protagonist Reagan Hollis's shoulders and the events of this book.

You Won’t See Me Coming by Kristen Orlando, 288 pages. Swoon Reads (Feiwel and Friends), 2019. $18.

Language: R (167 swears, 10 “f”); Mature Content: PG13; Violence: PG13

BUYING ADVISORY: HS - OPTIONAL

AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE

Reagan finally got her revenge, but it’s come at a high price. Not only is Reagan’s life and future now uncertain, but she has also taken Luke’s life and future away from him. When the mess she made starts to threaten her best friend, Harper’s, life as well, Reagan does everything she can to keep Harper alive.

This trilogy has been a roller coaster for me; I was on the edge of my seat through the first one and disappointed by Reagan’s choices through the second one. I started this third installment with feelings of exasperation towards Reagan because she has been taking action without regard for consequences. As she continued that pattern in this book, I found myself wondering how Reagan has changed over the course of the series, and I feel that she is still immature and not as changed by her experiences as she should be. Nevertheless, an acceptable conclusion seems to have been reached. The mature content rating is for mentioning rape, and the violence rating is for guns and gore.

May Contain Spoilers

Going into You Won’t See Me Coming I was extremely nervous. It’s the end of one of my favorite trilogies that never left me disappointed which is some pretty big shoes to fill for the final. I can gladly say though that this book did not disappoint for the most part and It had me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book.

You Won’t See Me Coming starts a little while after You Won’t Know I’m Gone ended. We see the fallout that happened from the choices that Reagan made and how they have affected the people she loves most.

“You know how some people have the golden touch? I have the poison touch. Everything I do turns bad.”

That quote is very true when it comes to most of this book it seems. It’s easy to see how Reagan feels that way when you consider everything that has happened to her in the past year. She’s lost so much and is still dealing with what she saw and made happen in South America. This is also why I’ve loved this series so much, not everything is happy go lucky or oh this bad thing happened but everyone is still okay. Instead, we get reality which is some people end up broken because of what they saw and things aren’t instantly forgiven. Reagan has a lot to make up for in this book and while she doesn’t realize it right away she does know what she needs to do.

“She said I wasn’t meant to be happy. I was meant to change the world.”

Luke is still very present in this book, besides Reagan’s dad he is the one current constant in her life and I think the only thing keeping her from completely losing it in the beginning. No, things aren’t perfect between them and it shows, it’s more realistic for a change in real relationships and that’s why I actually truly do like them as a couple.

“I’ve been trained my entire life to maybe die one day for someone else.”

In this book, we also get to see some characters we knew in You Don’t Know My Name. Harper was Reagan’s best friend and when it becomes obvious that she’s in danger Reagan takes things into her own hands again with Lukes help. This sets of a chain of events that really brings the whole trilogy together, by tying up the loose ends that were left from the previous two books.

“Torture of the heart is far worse than torture of the body.”

It leads to some of the most heart-stopping moments of the whole trilogy. I didn’t want to stop reading and I truly couldn’t read fast enough at some points because of what was happening. Orlando did an amazing job of keeping the heart-stopping moments coming while also giving you little reprieves where you could try and figure out with Reagan how they were going to get out of the situation.

Overall You Won’t See Me Coming was the perfect ending to one of my all-time favorite trilogies. I’m going to miss Reagan and Luke so much. I truly do love spy novels and this one was my favorite YA one I’ve ever read. I’m sad to see the trilogy end because I’m going to miss the characters, but I’m also very happy with how everything was wrapped up.

I now leave you with my favorite quote from this book:

“I find it kind of unnerving that this man has anything resembling a normal life down here. Like, it’d be less disturbing to me if this basement was filled with trophies from murder victims and machetes.”

At the beginning of last year I read You Don’t Know My Name and You Won’t Know I’m Gone back to back and I desperately wanted a third book after finishing the sequel, so I was excited to have a chance to read You Won’t See Me Coming early!

Since You Won’t See Me Coming is the conclusion to the series, I’m going to keep spoilers to a minimum—beware though, there will be spoilers from the previous books. You Won’t See Me Coming begins shortly after the end of You Won’t Know I’m Gone. With Torres, the leader of the drug cartel, dead and his brother out to avenge his death, Reagan and Luke are in deep hiding in a small town in Vermont. However, Reagan finds a suspicious coincidence on her best friend’s social media account and knows the cartel has found her. Not wanting to tip off the mole in the Black Angels, Reagan and Luke take off to New York to save Harper before it’s too late.

What I love about this series is how the stakes have risen in each book. In the first novel, Reagan was very torn between wanting a normal life and becoming a Black Angel. It dealt a lot more with high school and crushes, but turned more spy-thriller towards the end. The spy stuff takes center stage in the sequel as Reagan and Luke enter the training program and Reagan sets her mind on killing Torres. Now in the conclusion, Reagan in dealing with all of the consequences from her actions in the last book and how they have affected the other people in her life.

I felt like I didn’t really get to know Harper in the first book and then she just kind of vanished since Reagan went off on her mission. I liked that Harper came back in this book and that she finally found out about Reagan and now Luke’s secret lives. We do get to know her better in this novel, and I like that we find out what has been going on in her life since Reagan disappeared and how she was affected by it. It was definitely satisfying having the three all back together, even if they were on the run from kidnappers.

Overall, fans of the Black Angel Chronicles will love this action-packed conclusion!

Picking up a few months after its predecessor, You Won't Know I'm Gone, this final book in The Black Angel Chronicles will keep readers racing through its pages. Reagan Hillis and Luke Weixel are hiding in plain sight as they work in a Vermont bookstore after Reagan killed Santino Torres, leader of a Colombian drug cartel. But they have to come out of hiding when they realize that her high school best friend, Harper, is the cartel's next target. Reagan and Luke are at odds, barely speaking because of the risks she took to get to Torres earlier. They race to New York City, and then go on the run with Harper. Each time it seems that they've lost their pursuers, they manage to locate them, making Reagan even more certain that there must be a mole in the Black Angels. Anyone interested in a fast-paced story with a flawed but likeable protagonist will enjoy this one. There were moments during which I wondered about how swiftly things were occurring or how all these special agents could be shuttled so quickly from place to place or even why someone so young would be involved in such activities, but I decided to ignore my concerns and read on.

3.75/5 Conclusion to the Black Angel Chronicles series. I was a little disappointed. Felt longer than it should've been. Very wordy. Didn't feel like it was it's own book and could've been integrated into the other two. Reagan and Luke are in hiding in a small town in Vermont. After going rogue and killing Santino Torres, the Black Angels don't know what to do with her. Luke was guilty by association since he was with her. The Black Angels put them in a type of Witness Protection. Luke is very angry at her for what she did (going rogue and killing Torres) and for what he is now paying for as well. I'm glad Reagan realizes how selfish she has been. I didn't really like her in the second book because of that. When she finds out that Harper, her best friend, is in danger, she goes rogue again to try to help her...asking Luke to go with her. They couldn't go to the Black Angels because there's a mole. The book was fast paced and a page turner. I finished the book in a couple of days. I'm glad all the loose ends were tied up, but it just wasn't my favorite. HEA.

Following the events in Indonesia which ended with Reagan killing the drug lord Torres, Reagan and Luke are in the Black Angels' version of Witness Protection, hidden away in a remote Vermont town. However, the pair are forced to break cover and go rogue once more when they find out that their friend Harper is in danger and they race to save her before Torres' men get to her - which sends them into a run for their lives. Reagan is still certain that there is a mole within the Black Angels and it appears that they can trust no one except each other.

This was definitely much better than the second book. It was non-stop action from beginning to end. Reagan is finally starting to think before rushing in (something that really annoyed me in previous books) and has realized the consequences of her rash actions. While some of the plot, especially while they were on the run, felt awfully familiar and a bit predictable, it was exciting nevertheless.

Overall, a satisfying ending to a thrilling adventure!

The final book of the Black Angels trilogy - You Won’t See Me Coming by Kristen Orlando “Reagan and Luke are hiding in Vermont (after the events of the last book) when Reagan gets word that her friend Harper is in danger. She and Luke go rogue again to keep Harper out of the hands of the cartel. Can they make it in time? Or will the Agency mole betray them?”
A wild ride for the final book. This is considered as YA. But it’s atypical. There is a lot of action, but also a character questioning her decisions and choices.
I cannot figure out why more people are not reading these - quick, intense, action thrillers. @kristenowrites Please don’t retire Reagan and the Black Angels. I’ll bet they have a lot more stories to tell. And @swoonreads - get some of these books out into the wild in the hands of bloggers and bookstagrammers. 😄📚

Book:
YOU WON'T SEE ME COMING by Kristen Orlando

Review:
4⭐
I don't know what I think of this book...YOU WON'T SEE ME COMING was my favorite of the trilogy, but at the same time it was my least favorite. I know that doesn't make sense but I just loved the mystery of this one, the drama, and the action, but there were parts that I didn't like---Reagan and Luke's every changing relationship mixed with constantly running into danger and then that one part that is a spoiler so I'm not going to say it but if you know you know.
One word: SHOCKED. Utterly and completely. Like those last few chapters were so action-packed and I was rooting for Reagan and Harper and Luke the entire time. And then that revelation about the mole---I didn't see that coming.

What I Liked:
*the epilogue
*the suspense

This was a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy which picked up a few days after the second book ended. Reagan and Luke are now in the Shadow Program, the Black Angels' version of the Witness Protection Program, after what went down in Indonesia. The reader learns why the Torres family was after Reagan's family, who the mole is within the Black Angels, and if Reagan and Luke are reinstated by CORE or not. There is lots of mystery and action, yet some of the plot was a bit predictable.

MS and HS readers who enjoyed Spy School and Greetings From Witness Protection will enjoy this more mature teen secret agent trilogy.

The final book in this trilogy kept up the breakneck pace. Reagan really screwed things up in the last installment and is in hiding with Luke who is still way passed at her. She cannot forgive herself and doesn’t know what to do to fix it until Harper is threatened. Once she and Luke go after Harper and the cartel shows up everything moves so fast. Guns, kidnapping, lies, danger and trips to hostile countries along with final unveiling of the mole. I was glad my first instinct was wrong. I was afraid the mole was someone specific and I’m glad I was wrong.
I have mixed feelings about the ending because of Harper but we can’t always have what we want.
Solid action/ secret agent YA.

This is a great conclusion the the series, as Reagan's story is wrapped up. She and Luke are on the run from the Torres family who is out to avenge the murder of Santino Torres. When they find out that their friend Harper is being targeted by the last remaining Torres brother, Fernando, they go rogue once again to intercept her before she can be kidnapped. This puts the three of them on a run for their lives, and this time, not everyone that Reagan trusts and loves will survive.

First line: "I've come to hate my hands."

This book was very fast paced. With less than 300 pages, it kept you on your toes from beginning to end. I’m sad that this is the last book in the series, but it kept me entertained throughout. You can definitely tell Reagan had some good character development, first when she wasn’t guilty of killing Santino, but then she realized what the cost was and began making amends with her loved ones. Good series.

No Knight In Shining Armor Needed!

I loved the main characters: Reagan, who absolutely kicks butt, and Luke, who has her back no matter what the cost. I love the friends, in and out of the Black Angels, who are the allies everyone wishes they had. I love seeing young people win in an adult world that is often brutally unfair. I love the nuance of “good guys” who aren’t always good, and “bad guys” that have been humanized and are more than two-dimensional villains. Well done!

Fast paced and exciting, but I removed a star because I thought the writing was very repetitive at times and certain scenes would contradict each other. I also had problems with Harper’s character in this novel compared to You Don’t Know My Name.

Overall, I think this was a very satisfying end to the Black Angels Chronicles and it’s bittersweet to see the beloved Raegan go :(

A bittersweet end to this page turning trilogy. I liked that almost all the loose ends were tied up nicely, but I also would love a separate trilogy to find out what happens next.

Spoilers below:

What kind of missions do Reagan, Luke and the rest of the gang get into. Do they still keep in contact with Harper? What happened to Mateo?

An excellent ending to this trilogy! Now that Torres is dead at her hands, Reagan and Luke are in hiding. When she learns that Harper is in danger, Reagan leaps into action. Once again defying Black Angel orders, Reagan begins to suspect that there is a problem in the organization. Lots of action, a great mystery, and a likable heroine. You won't be able to put this one down. If you like The Hunger Games and the Alex Rider series, you will enjoy these books.
