To say that Moira and Fergus are cut from the same cloth is an understatement. However, they can't see that wee personality detail. Which is why it is not surprising that neither one ever wants to marry – especially not to each other. Imagine their panic when their parents betroth them...to each other. What happens next is the plot of A Highlander's Need by Aileen Adams.
I am pleased by how much I enjoyed this character-driven book that actually had an entertaining and engrossing plot. I liked Ms. Adam's writing style, with the exception of a bit too much head-space dialogue. All in all, I enjoyed this Highlander romance, which had a happy ending and smile-worthy epilogue
Content 411: There is no sex, but there are a few mild swear words, some described and inflicted violence and domestic abuse, as well as some alcohol abuse.
A sweet and romantic read although a little naive in its execution. A forced marriage scenario.
It took me a while to get engaged in this book but it picked up after about twenty per cent. Moira Reid, the heroine in this book was a bit difficult to like and I was surprised when she turned out to be 22 years old when her behaviour suggested that she was in her early teens. The hero, Fergus MacDougall was a hero in every sense of the word, rescuing the damsel in distress despite the fact that she was the bride he was running away from.
To begin with, this clean historical romance benefits from good writing and editing. What drags it down is the heroine's determination to think the worst, take the offensive, and harangue the hero at every opportunity until she's abducted and needs his help to escape. The hero, understandably, becomes annoyed by the bitchy heroine, even though he admires her spunk. The chemistry between them doesn't really show; there are no sparks beyond that of anger, resentment, and annoyance.
Really enjoyed this story. Couldn't put this book down it was so enjoyable. Moria was a women much like me, very independent, raised like a boy, could do as good as most men yet she did as she pleased. No one would tell her who to marry. She would marry for 'll be which she does it was heart warming, in the end to see how she marry,s the man she chooses. Loved this story. Thanks Diane DeMoulin
I loved the story, characters, and the romance. The book held my interest and was very entertaining. The characters were well matched and strong impressive individuals. I loved the way their romance and lives evolved. The ending was endearing filled with love, friendship, and hope for the future of all.
I enjoyed this story, which can be read as a stand-alone story with a HEA ending. There's several plot twists on the way to HEA. Two individuals who haven't seen each other since she was 8 years old and he was 12. With clear ideas of how their lives should play out. Not with each other. Let life begin!
This is a wonderful story and I love how the heroine, Moira, keeps the hero, Fergus, on his toes!! She's quite the spitfire and very independent while all he wants is to keep her safe....they butt heads quite a few times before love happens:) A lovely clean romance with lots of adventure!!
I loved this story very much as I always do. I always do, she does a great job, the history she puts in them is very good, it makes me want to go there. Thank you . Ada G.
Clean and fun romance. My new favorite of the series! Moira is strong and self-sufficient. She has cared for her twin brothers her whole life. But when a marriage is arranged for her, she refuses to have her life dictated. Of course her bridegroom is no more willing to enter such an arrangement.
Fiery, stubborn, headstrong tiny woman; who would not be told what to do by any man. This is the plot of the story. We are privileged to witness her finally finding the love and respect she deeply deserves after a long hard life. Thank you.
This a bit of action and a lot of interaction between Fergus and Moira. As they get to really know each other and how their past affected their present ideas, love blossoms and in the end wins out
A wonderful addition to this series! Sweet, clean romance with an engaging plot and familiar characters keeps me coming back for more!! Love this series!!
A cute Highland romance. An autocratic father arranges a marriage for his daughter with another clan. She wants nothing to do with it, so runs away. Her betrothed isn't interested in marriage, either. He's glad she has disappeared. By coincidence they later meet up. Well written & edited.
