Nate has his life under control. He's got more money than he knows what to do with, a partnership in the hottest security software company on the planet, and a townhouse overlooking the bay. What more could a single billionaire Dominant want?
Obviously someone who knows when to get down on their knees and beg. But Nate needs more than an obedient submissive, demurely bending to his every whim. He needs someone with teeth.
When trouble-making (and brilliant) programmer Ewan McKinney walks into Nate's office and recognizes him from the Club, he seems like the worst possible candidate for the role. He's stubborn, unpredictable, and fiercely independent. Nate knows he should keep his distance, but he can't stand back and watch Ewan tear his own life apart. Not when it's becoming painfully clear how Nate wants to take care of him.

Ewan has nothing in his life under control. If he had, he wouldn't have ended up the pet project of his new boss, who just happens to know Ewan's kinky little secret. But instead of blackmailing him, Nathaniel Scott seems determined to fix him somehow. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so tragic
Ewan is determined to prove he doesn't need Nate's pity, but the closer they get the more obvious it becomes that Ewan needs someone in his life to tell him 'no'.
But does it have to be Nate? And why does this feel so much like falling in love?

I really enjoyed this spin off - Nate is a full blown sadist looking for the right challenge....Ewan is a bratty pain slut with massive issues that have not yet been uncovered. Ewan is fighting his attraction to Nate every step of the way but god bless Nate for his sharp eye, persistence and dogged determination !

This is a spin off from His Boy Next Door. Nate is Jack's former lover, best friend and business partner.

After the threesome Nate, Jack and Channon had Nate is longing for his own submissive because he knows starting up something again with Jack wouldn't work plus Jack loves Channon.

Nate stumbles onto Ewan and he sees want he struggling with but Ewan being the brat at he is doesn't want Nate's help, so Ewan suffers until Nate can't take it anymore and takes over.

This was a good start to a series featuring Nate and Ewan and I can’t wait to read more. First time reading anything by RJ Moray and I love how they write. I felt a connection with the characters and got in their heads and its really good. I’m just happy because there are a lot of books by this author. Alright, on to the next book.➡️

I might end up liking these books more than the others that led me here. Much better edited for one, but I'm also really loving the connection between Nate and Ewan.

Loved it even more on the reread. This series may be a new comfort read. 🥰🥰🥰

This was a short quick read that I liked. This was my first time reading this author. Nate is a hot sexy rich dominant billionaire who is looking for is own sub but not just any sub he wants someone who can hold there own. Ewan McKinney is a walking disaster whose life is a mess. I liked both of these characters and the sex scenes were hot. This was the first book in a new series too me. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I prefer the dynamic between Nate and Ewan to that of Jack and Channon. Plus Channon is a stupid name IMO.

YES! Nate's story!

I have been looking forward to this ever since I first heard that he would be getting his own story, and I loved how some of this overlapped with Channon and Jack's love story, and we got to see things from Nate's POV this time.

And Ewan is just PERFECT for Nate, I can just tell it.

LOVE that this was a bit longer than her other serial story, and cannot wait for more of Nate and Ewan.

I was a little bit nervous about reading this one as I didn't like Ewan at all when he was introduced in the His boy next door series. I loved Nates character though so I thought I'd give it a go. I really enjoyed this book i think it's a great start to what I feel will be another addictive series.

This was a great start to a new series. I love the dynamics between Nate and Ewan. I haven’t read His Boy Next Door, but if this continues the way it started I’m sure it will be in my future.

Hot story, can’t wait for the second installment.n

While this was an interestingly different take on the popular dom/sub trope with more sadism and pain, I had a hard time connecting with the characters and the pair, plus I'm not the biggest fan of pain play, so unfortunately I won't be continuing the series.

So good!

I knew this would be heavier than the Boy Next Door series. Bare plays harder and Ewan is older and more experienced than Channon. Plus they both have a lot of baggage. I can't wait to see how this develops.

Delicious

Brats are annoying but when written well are incredibly satisfying. This is written beautifully and is just the right amount of sass and BDSM. Recommend highly!

I loved this one!

R.J. Moray really knows the craft of writing and has invented very attractive and intriguing characters and some really interesting dynamics between them. I immediately invested in both characters and not only does the book have some incredibly and hot passages, but the psychology behind it is completely believable and nothing feels contrived or out of place.

I also loved the fact that the Dom's sadism was never smoothed over or downplayed. I'm always very disappointed and bored when bdsm is pictured as a really NICE, almost SWEET practice at heart. Not that Nate (the Dom) in this book is in any way portrayed as a bastard or a psychopath. He doesn't lack protectiveness or a capacity for tenderness but he doesn't deny his darker sides either, which is very refreshing (and HOT).

Some books read like an apology for bdsm as a practice or an attempt at convincing a shocked audience that the protagonists are, in fact, really very GOOD and DECENT people, DESPITE being into bdsm. They just want to play at dominance and submission and perhaps indulge in some light sensory play with soft feathers or firs or perhaps a blindfold, but, other than that, they are actually nicer, more caring, and more normal than most (Not that that can't be true in some cases, It's just that I don't read bdsm romance because I want NICE or almost-vanilla!) I also get very bored when the necessity of safety measures is compulsively stressed and repeated like a mantra, as if the author is apologizing for an unsavory interest in a practice that can include strange and nasty things like sadomasochism and is trying to assure everyone that bdsm really is or should be safe, sane and consensual and doesn't have to include any form of pain or other nasty things (and bdsm really is a VERY wide umbrella ... and to each his own, of course! It's just that I like a bit of honest sadism in the Dom. I think it's hot.).

This, however, wasn't one of those strange and unnecessary apologies and THAT was really nice!

I might have been rather frustrated by the abrupt ending, if the sequel wasn't already available. As it is, I'm about to start reading it now and I'm really looking forward to it.

The good
+ Nate insisting on cuddling and petting Ewan all the time
+ Ewan biting Nate
+ Nate being a total goner for Ewan and just accepting that as fact
+ Ewan being such a dick to Simon
+ Nate meeting Channon and realizing immediately how dangerous Jack could be for him
+ Nate forcing aftercare on Ewan

The bad
- Ewan kept complaining Nate was too 'nice', without having ever seen him in action as a Dom

Quotes
x He wanted very much to push Ewan to his limits, see how far he could go without breaking. Then break him anyway, and put him back together again.
x He was so skittish. It was like sharing space with a half wild animal, barely domesticated and people-shy. Ewan McKinney did a good impersonation of something tame and safe, but he wasn't. He was feral and willing to bite.
x Nathaniel Scott might be the death of him, but it would, at least, be an interesting death.
x He wanted this, all Ewan's prickly stubbornness, his willfulness, the fire and fight in him. It was worth it, in every way.
x Ewan was red-eyed and blurry, his hair sticking up in all directions, and Nate tousled his hair because he felt like it. It was worth it for his little-shit scowl.

Ewan is so feral! He screams! He bites! And Nate loves it. Well, maybe not the biting, since he threw Ewan off the couch for that. Although he probably liked that, too. So, yes, would definitely recommend.

Read in 2021 and 2023.

Well, it was a concise yet quite engaging read for the MM BDSM erotica genre. In this book, we see two MCs whose BDSM needs are currently left unsatisfied, and how they gravitate towards each other despite their professional circumstances. I appreciated that it cut to the chase, and despite its length, we could delve into the inner thoughts of both MCs (something many novels fail to do, even with over 300 pages under their belt)

Open ending, though; which, doesn't really bother me IF i knew they'd end up together eventually (which might not be the case, *sighs*)

Hot as hell. Huge like pain slut type shit. Uhh felt rlly uncomfortable with the beginning and the idea that like this freshly 18 yr old was subbing for a grown man and he’s literally in high school like even though it’s not the main MMC it’s just odd.

Rr: I have been bored I’m sorry

Rr x2: I’m sorry this is like my go to anytime I just wanna read some kinky shiv

Rr x3: book 4 is always my favorite of the series but like I enjoy the whole thing

I read this and I liked it a lot, but I am in an impasse right now. It mostly has to do with how many books are there going to be in this series and am I ready for the commitment? I have zero patience when it comes to waiting for a new book or chapter, reason why I don't go into ongoing series. I just have to have it all now or I lose interest. I really should have looked this up before starting reading it, because I liked it, but ugh, I don't think I'm ready for the commitment. I should also, probably, read the other series, but 36 books, although 30-50pages each, makes me think about the other books I want to read. I don't know, I'll have a think about it.

On topic: I didn't actually get a grip of Ewan and Nate, although they seem likeable. The first instalment leaves you wanting more of them, see how they would manage. It also ended in a sort of cliff-hanger, and I'm not sure how to feel about that. I don't particularly like or dislike cliff-hangers, but having to wait for the next book for a while would rip out my interest. At this point I am willing to wait until the series is complete and then plunge into both of them.
Into the series. Both of the series.

I also couldn't find any info on the author's site, the last book mentioned there has already been released two books ago according to Goodreads, so I obviously can't rely on the site. But anyway, the point is the series holds a lot of promise, it might be really fun. I might or might not continue reading it, but leaving aside my concerns, by all means, go for it. I honestly can't think of anything I didn't like, apart from the wonder of why is it so damn short.

Edit: I decide I'm going to read up to the third book (possibly the short two stories as well) since that apparently makes up the first season, then I'll think about it. I really liked the first book, and I need some sort of ending, regardless of if I am going to read the whole series or not.

Star ratings given separately, but this review is for the first three installments together.

Surprisingly solidly written for (I assume) self-pubbed kinky romance. The characters felt very real and avoided a lot of BDSM stereotypes that annoy me, so I had a much better time than I expected to. I especially appreciated the ways they were developed outside of their romance, like through Ewan's relationship with Laurence and the subplot about Nate's nephew.

Where it lost me a little was right at the end of the third. One of the things I enjoyed, and which the characters seemed to enjoy, was how the relationship didn't precisely conform to the expected rhythms and rituals of BDSM, and that was underlined by the fact that Ewan had been deeply traumatized by a past lover/Dom. For Moray to then turn around and present Nate giving Ewan a collar as a good thing, even offering to make it permanent some day, just didn't work for me. I know it was supposed to be like "this thing that traumatized you can also be about love in the right context and we're reclaiming it," but instead it felt like hitting BDSM beats just for the sake of them and at the expense of some of the more wonderfully complicated aspects of the characters and their relationship. (Yes I know it's literally in the title, I just assumed it was bad SEO-bait titling.) I'm also not particularly into super-formalized BDSM in general, so YMMV, but it irked me.

This set of 6 novella's and 3 short stories is a spin-off of the Becoming his boy next door series. We have met Nate and Ewan already and this is their onconventional road to love. And I loved it so much! I might even love them more then I loved Jack and Channon. I was wondering why, but in hindsight I guess I just didn't like Jack so much. He is such a narcissistic cold bastard who loves to be worshipped and their is no equality to be found in their dynamic. But Nate is a completely different story. Oke, he is a sadistic f$cker with worrysome cruel tendencies, but at the same time he is so sweet, warm and gentle. And he is exactly what Ewan needs. My sweet, broken, masochistic,Scottish boy. He feels so worthless and insecure and acts out everywhere. He is a brat through and through but Nate just laughs and flogs him harder. Nate loves his brat en everyday he tries to leard how to deal with Ewans moods and bratty actions. And slowly Ewan learns Nate is nothing like his abusive ex dom. He can trust Nate. It is beautiful to watch Ewan relax and permits himself to enjoy Nate and lean on him. And when they finally admit their love for each other.....swoon alarm on!
In the meantime, they have a lot of very kinky scenes. Consensual non consent, playdates with Jack and Channon, visits at the club and lots of spanking, caning, flogging and other torture. Nate wants to hurt, Ewan wants to be hurt. They are perfect for each other. R.J. Moray says she is not done with them yet, so I am hopeful fot more, but it has been years since these novella's came out, so i don't know.

A broken brat

Good boys are easier to write. Good boys want to please you, always want to have you be happy with them... Ewan isn't a good boy. He is a brat. Searching and hungry and yearning and so not a good boy.

Nate is a sadist, we don't see a lot of his sadistic side in this part of the story but that's the set up. We get the wind up, I suppose the pitch is in the next one.

Yes this is a spin off, no I didn't read that first. No I do not think I'm missing anything. I may read the thing this series is spun off from. I do know I'll be reading the next one though. So I think you should read this one.

An offshoot of the “His Boy Next Door” series, ‘Collar’ focuses on more a quirky, fun couple. Still the interesting backstories, engaging plots, and great D/s sex you’ve come to expect from this author - and it’s fun to see how the characters from the other series blend seamlessly in here to get a different perspective to the same events - but this is a welcome relief from ‘perfect’ boys and their daddy-leaning Sirs.

Great miniseries!

I love it when you are reading and you gasp when one of the characters gasp or when they are facing their biggest fears and your chest gets tight when theirs does or you get goose bumps when they get all love-y-dovey. This is what happens when you fall so deep!y in a story it is great!

Spin off for His Boy Next Door.
I really liked it. Hence... I read right through the next 2 books of this series.
Maybe not as much as the other series, but I KNOW that was just me. The authors writing is super, in my book. I REALLY like how the stories come together how they are written.
Will definitely be looking and interested in more, so many more stories from this author!!

Great begining

I luckily was a post on Facebook about the fourth book in this series. I bought the first book and it didn't disappoint. I sure hope these 2 men make it. Ms. Mondays writing was very smooth and enjoyable. I got sucked right in. I just bought book 2. I plan on reading her other stories as well.

Well I wasn't sure if I was going to like this story.

This book was a fluke chance grab. Most of the time I try to grab the first book in a series but the first one didn't sound Inter as this one dis. Now I kind of feel I will need to read it also. Just need the rest of this story now. Good story line. Enough play up and introduction to make these characters come alive.
