Sportswriter Ivan Maisel pulls no punches and takes no prisoners as he sets the record once and for all in this book about the most over and underrated programs in college football. A detailed, thoroughly researched thesis, it will make even the most die-hard fan of a team admit that their feelings have muddied their opinions and weakened all previous arguments about the who and what is the most overrated and underrated ever. Nobody is left out as Maisel goes through the best of college football's history, including sections on the most over/underrated moments, national champions, Heisman Trophy winners, stadiums, and more.
Basic, readable book of lists. Learned a bit about the history of college football, but Maisel is not the most engaging writer. Also, he comes across as smug more often than not, and I'm not really sure why.
Good college football history. The drawback is that all of the current references, and there are many, from when the book was written (around 2007-08) are all dated. Shows how much has changed in CFB in a few years. But the way-back history is good.
Nice list of best/worst historically for just about every category of college football imaginable. Could have been a bit more in depth but readable as is.
