Explosive chemistry! Rock star Drake's life took a horrible turn for the worst four years ago when his beloved wife and toddler daughter were killed in a drunk driving car accident. Drinking his way through the tragedy, his songs touched the nation, and the band became huge, in spite of his hard partying, self-destructive lifestyle. When the binges get out of hand, his manager insists on hiring a personal assistant (read: babysitter) to keep him on track, and Drake finds himself both infuriated and intrigued by the straight-laced beauty organizing his life. Trying to drive her away at the same time as craving her, the pair walk the very thin line between annoyance and lust. Explosive chemistry and some plot twists and turns keep your eyes glued to the pages!
Wow another beautifully written book by Rye Hart!! I was so emotional reading this story about Drake and Delia. Their story couldn't have been told any better than this. I was hooked from the first sentence and just wanted more even if I cried through quite a bit of it. But when they start to really work together it just couldn't get any hotter. Rye always has a way that makes me just really feel for her characters that no other authors have really done before. I received an ARC and I volunteerly am leaving a honest review.
Country star Drake Blackthorn lost it all just before his band made it big. He tortures himself sing the songs he wrote for his wife and daughter. Drinks through the ones that made him famous. When not in tour works the family that his wife and daughter loved. He is spiraling out of control and his manager sees him slipping. He hires a PA to manage Drake's life on his up coming tour.
Delia Jacobson is a PA working on her degree in psychology specializing is substance abuse. Having lost her father to alcohol and her mother to depression, her career choice helps her better understand her parents. Delia sees Drake as a stepping stone in her career. Drake sees Delia as a challenge and a threat. The first women to make him feel something other than numb since his wife. He refused to let her win.
Drake and Delia have a tumultuous relationship. Drake has a grudging respect for her. She even pulls at his protective side, something that has been reserved for only his autistic sister these days. They can't deny their attraction. When Drake hits rock bottom. Delia has to walk so he can get his life bake together. Drake need Delia like he once needed alcohol. When he learns she is going to have his baby, he is determined not to lose this second chance at a family.
A very emotional story. Drake and Delia both had suffered so much you just want them to be happy. Great secondary characters. Loved Paul. Drake's be my girlfriend proposal was hilarious. His marriage proposal was very public and heart felt. The epilogue wrapped their story up perfectly.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. I loved so I bought a copy and will read again. The author generously included a few of her other books as a bonus, including an exclusive book Doctor Baby Daddy. A great second chance romance.
Doctor Baby Daddy Camille is a successful designer with her own business. Engaged to her college sweet heart who is the CFO of her company. Her world is shattered when Stephen tells her he got another women pregnant, after they have unsuccessfully trying for almost a year. He can't marry someone who can't have kids. Dr Preston Winters is surprised to see her best friend from high school sitting in his exam room. They were just moving to something more than friends when they graduated and she moved to New York for college. Meeting again 10 years later, the chemistry is still there. She is coming off a broken engagement. While she is technically his partners patient, involvement with a patient could cost him his job. A job he took so he could spend most time with his son. Loved Cam and Preston. A nice epilogue to wrap up their story. A fast paced and steamy second chance romance.
I think this book should come with several warnings:1. Have plenty of hankies handy as it is an emotional story;2. A wonderful story; 3. Red hot hero; 4. A heroine that makes him want to be better and strive for more.; 5. Written by Rye Hart who is a wonderful author whose writing style can draw you into a story and make you love the characters who are 3-dimensional and develop as the story progresses. In this book, we meet Drake - rockstar and widower after his wife and child were killed by a drunk driver. Since then he has been a mess and he is driving his manager and the rest of the band to distraction so he says he is going to get a PA for Drake to basically 'babysit' him. Delia is the one chosen as she has a background in healing and helping people coping with alcohol addiction in particular as her father was an alcoholic so she had a tough childhood. These two people have both suffered loss and Drake thinks he can scare Delia away but she's made of sterner stuff and as they begin to work together his attitude changes so that he wants to be better for her. At last he realises that he does deserve a HEA if he wants one. So beautifully written by Rye. This is a must have fast paced read that you won't want to put down. With amazing detail to make the characters 'come to life' and I felt as if I was 'seeing' the story unfold before my eyes. As to the ending...you know I won't give any spoilers but let's just say that the ending was all I could have wished for them. Can't wait for her next book to be published! I received a free reader's copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here.
Beautiful Disaster by Rye Hart ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Shannon, Ava and Drake Blackthorn were the perfect little family...until they weren't, when tragedy struck and only Drake was left. Man, it just makes you want to cry, almost right out of the gate! It's such a powerful story with real characters with real feelings. How is Drake going to go on? The music that always made him whole was the only thing left for him. What used to sound hopeful and optimistic is now dark and gritty, even though he and his band have soared to the top of the charts. He's still in a dark place and still has his ranch and his autistic sister, Elsie. So, to straighten him out, his manager Hank hired Delia as a personal manager. Not her bailiwick but an interesting case she could use for school credit. When things start to go south Hank fires Delia. Things are said and done and Drake starts rehab. What will happen with Delia and Drake? How can any good come from all this? It's a sad story from such a happy beginning, but I kept pulling for Drake and happiness. I love Delia and how she deals with all that's on her plate. She seems pulled together where Drake is a mess. Delia refuses to give up on Drake, there's just too much riding on their relationship. Great reading , even if a bit anxious at times. I voluntarily read an Advance Readers Copy of this book for an honest review.
Country star Drake Blackthorn had it all until it was taken from him. Ever since the tragedy he experienced, he has retreated into a bottle of booze. He even drinks on stage and is rarely sober. His manager notices him slipping away and hires PA Delia Jacobson who is getting her degree in psychology specializing is substance abuse. She is to help him through his upcoming tour. She sees this as a great opportunity to add this experience to her resume. Drake sees Delia as a threat and refuses to let her in. In fact, he tries to make it difficult for her by telling her to muck out the horse stalls on his ranch. Drake is not exactly kind to Delia. They have a tumultuous relationship with each other. Delia sees Drake as a challenge. Eventually Drake becomes more attached to Delia and little by little the wall he has built up comes down. Delia begins to see the real man behind the alcohol. The chemistry between Drake and Delia is off the charts. So much so that when Drake hits rock bottom, Delia has to walk away from him so he can get his life back together. This is a very emotional story. The characters have been through so much. It ends with a happy ending. I’m not going to say too much because I wouldn’t want to spoil it. Great read! If you know someone with an addiction problem, by all means please help them.
Rye Hart has done it again. What a beautiful story. Drake, an upcoming country singer , suffers tragedy and his world crumbles. He spirals down a deep dark hole and the only way he copes is by drinking, touring with his band, the parties, women and performing drunk. He is an alcoholic and his manager Hank, tells him he needs to clean up his act, because he's ruining his reputation and image. Hank insists they hire a personal assistant to keep him in line. Delia, a soon to be college graduate, wants to help people with addictions. She receives an email offering her the job with a very lucrative salary. Enough for her to pay off her school debt and put some aside in savings. When she interviews with Hank, she is hired. Drake doesn't want a babysitter and decides to do everything in his power to make her quit. Delia is stubborn, has a fiery personality and isn't about to let him make her quit. When Drake ends up in rehab, He soon realizes how much he needs Delia in his life. I loved the storyline and the secondary characters. This was a fast paced read, with little twits and turns throughout, but also some emotional scenes. Great Story, highly recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I did receive a free ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review I am freely leaving.
In this book we have, Drake Blackthorn, Tennessee country boy, & country music star. Drake's life has had his life turn upside down. He is out on the road performing, and has a serious drinking problem. However, his band mates say he performs better while he is drinking & drunk, the more he drinks the better he plays. However, his band manager, Hank is tried of babysitting the band. Hank is looking into hiring a PA for Drake, not the band, but for Drake specifically.
Delia is a young college student, who is majoring in psychology specializing is substance abuse. Her father was an alcoholic and she is use to the excuses and the life a user has. Delia is up for the challenge of keeping Drake on track. Delia sees Drake as a stepping stone in her career. Drake sees Delia as a challenge and a threat. However, Delia wasn't expecting to fall for Drake.
Drake wasn't expecting to fall for Delia. Drake, is a love them and leave they type of guy, just a one and done usually. However, with Delia he wants to get to know he, he wants to see her. He doesn't want anyone else seeing her, or talking down to her.
Country heart throb who spiraled out of control after the death of his wife and young daughter, tries to make his new personal assistant quit (by making her life hell,) because he feels he doesn't need her. He doesn't think he needs help at all, that he doesn't have a problem. She recognizes his issues and has basically devoted her life to the cause, having personal experience with it herself. She doesn't let his antics deter her. There is a sweetness about the story, even when he's being an a$$. There are some heart breaking moments. Some humor. A surprise pregnancy (and the aftermath of that revelation.) There are some ups and downs in their relationship (both their intimate relationship as well as their working one.) The story was good and well played out but there were a few little things with the characters that felt lacking. Sometimes their actions made them seem immature. (There were a couple other things, but I don't want to spoil anything.) There is the steam factor to keep things... um... interesting. ;) This also makes this book suitable for mature readers. There are some sensitive topics that may be a trigger for some.
After loosing his wife and daughter in a crash caraccident on the way to his concert, Drake has a complete melt down, drowning his grief in alcohol, party & women. Beside concerts, Drake has a ranch and an austic sister to care for. Delia's is hired bij Hank as Drake's new PA. She's also studiing far her psychiatric degree for acdicted ppl and such. All goes well untill one night he sneak out the bus to get drunk with his bandmate, returning at the bus in a almost drinkcoma and ending in a Hospital and a rehab after that. Delia get fired because of that, she's graduting & will have a new job and ofcourse there is a surprise too. He get invited to the ceremonie, when he drive her home, they have a heated moment. While taking his shouwer at her appartment, Delia his sneaking away, leaving a note for him to read, wishing him goodluck in the future. It's a break up note and she will not come back at her appartment till he's gone. Pitty she did'nt fell strong enought to get involved with him anymore, thinking ifs .... she says she's pregnant or if she follows him... would be all sorts of triggers for him to grap the bottle again.
I'm a huge fan and have loved everything that I have read by this author but this one is in a league of its own. Drake is one of those characters that'll stay with after you finish the book. Him being a father and husband defined him, even more than his music did and when he lost that his world imploded. He still had his music but its an empty lifestyle made worse by his addiction. He is letting all areas of his life fall by the wayside out of a misplaced sense of guilt and crippling grief. What made me sad is that neither his wife or daughter who adored him would have wanted that empty-shell life for him, they would have wanted him to be happy, to enjoy the success he worked so hard for but he couldn't see it, not until Delia anyway and even then it took him a while. He makes you alternate between just wanting to wrap him up, take him home and protect him and shaking him until his teeth rattle and he gains some sense. In other words, I loved him. This deals with difficult issues such as loss and addiction and does it in a tasteful and respectful way. Simply outstanding.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Rye has done it again. This was truly a hauntingly beautiful story. It was different from any rock star book I ever read. Drake was a happily married man until a tragic car accident ripped his family from him. The struggles he endured felt so real it brought tears to my eyes. He had many responsibilities and needed to keep it together for, especially he sister Elsie. His manager Paul assigned a PA to help with his spiraling bad reputation. Delia was going to college and worked as a personal assistant she was studying psychology to especially help people deal with substance abuse. She couldn’t pass a great opportunity when Paul called her with a job offer to be Drake’s PA. She didn’t fall all over Drake like many women did, and she certainly wasn’t about to let him get the upper hand on her. Let the control games begin! I loved this unique storyline, it pulled at all your emotions. I loved the support and closeness of his band members. I highly recommend this book.
You will love this story about a man who is wanting to be a singer. He is also a rancher. Just before he career takes off his wife & daughter are killed in a car accident. He turns to drinking & his band mates think women & parties are the answer. His manager gets tired of it & hires Delila to set his image straight. After a night of passion between them he realized maybe he could be a better person again like he once was with his wife. However he still sneaks out to drink. Nearly kills himself in the process. His manager fires Delila & he’s upset about that. He knows he has to get better to be able to take care of his sister too & maybe he can win her back. What he doesn’t know is that Delila is hiding the fact that she is pregnant because she knows well about the triggers & healing of alcoholism. Can he prove to her that he wants to be a better person for all of them? You may need tissues, you may get angry, but you will love this book. Rye Hart is an amazing writer. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Well written, heart breaking and heartwarming story of Drake and how he pulls himself out of depression, alcoholism, and risky life threatening behavior with the help of Delia.
Delia is brought into Drake's life by his manager, Hank. It was an intervention of sorts, one that probably saves Drake's life.
Delia is young, smart, and is passionate about trying to make a difference. She wants to use this experience with Drake to further her studies and her masters to help people with addictions. Things get complicated as she starts having feelings for Drake.
Lots and lots of sensual, intense chemistry between the couple. Drake finally starts to want to get better for Delia.
I loved the way the author develops the characters and how his supporting friends and family play a role in Drake's recovery.
This was a worthwhile read and a definite keeper to read again!!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
This was a great book! I was a little put off with the prologue, worried this was going to be a tear-jerker. And the only thing I would have done differently, would be to make th prologue into a flashback a little later in the book. I almost didn’t read it. That would have been a shame, because it ended up as a great read. So get past the prologue...it’s important background. Drake Blackthorn was one of the most popular country singers in the US. And like many celebrities, he indulged way to much. His manager was fed up and hired Delia, a psychology major, as his personal assistant to try to get his life back on track. But things don’t always work out hey way they’re supposed to. Drake and Delia’s relationship started out rocky and went through lots of ups and downs. Their story is definitely one worth reading! Even most of the secondary characters are incredibly engaging. I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving an Advanced Readers Copy.
rcvd an advanced reader copy for giving my two cents. this book made me cry!!! we meet Drake, loving life, to lose his wife and daughter to a drunk driver. fast Forward 4 yrs and he's living the life of a rock star...and not the good parts. his manager hank has had it with drake and intends to do smtg about it. we meet Delia, student specializing in psychology and addictions, has just been given the golden ticket. she will be Drakes PA or glorified babysitter as he sees it. Drake is immediately taken back by Delias non regard for his social status and hea determined to make her life hell. Delia won't back down no matter what drake throws at her. the tour starts and drake along with his bandmates are at it again...booze and women. Delia is trying het hardest to keep drake on the strait and narrow and failing miserably. Drake wants Delia in the worst way and she makes him want to be a better man since his late wife. will hell break loose or will drake and Delia submit to his demons?
I'm not really sure what was wrong with the formatting of this story but it was all wonky on both my app and my kindle. I mean I looked past it to read, but it was like double spaced and just big.
But the story its self, was really good. Drake has so much going on in his life for the bad. I mean at one point he had so much good. But once it went bad it all went bad. So can you blame him for turning to drinkin'? Though Deliah had just as much go bad in her past, and she had no one there for her. She pust past it all trying to make a life for herself. Trying to help other people and be a positive for herself and others. These two find one another and we'll there attraction is inevitable. Though I like that they don't just fall for each other and end up together. I like that its not insta love, even though it kind of is. Though I'm kind of left with a couple questions....
Drake is a famous singer in a band but four years ago his wife and daughter was killed by a drunk driver. He’s deeply depressed and has an alcohol addiction. He’s always drunk and late for concerts and practices. Hank his manager is tired of this and hires Delia to be his assistant and get him to concerts on time and sober. Delia likes helping people and her masters is on helping people with addiction. At first Drake fights Delia but she keeps at it and little buy little gets through to him. She gets him to open up and his depression gets better. Delia is starting to fall for him the more they are around each other. He’s getting better but afraid to open his heart again. Will he realize that he can move on and still remember his wife and child. That he deserves to be happy! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This is one heartbreak story about Drake who has become a famous singer. Four years ago he lost his wife and daughter to a drunk driver and has spiraled out of control from his lose. He is depressed and is drinking all the time. Hank his manager can not take him coming late to concerts and is worried about him so he hires an assistant, Delia for him. Delia’s job is to make sure Drake gets to concerts on time and try to help him stop drinking and deal with his depression. Delia is a intelligent woman and giving woman. Drake does not want anything to do with her but in the end they start working together. There is a positive outlook with Drake the more they work together but can Delia keep her emotions hidden? Will the pain of Drakes lose ever go away or not rule his everyday life? There is a twist that will surprise you! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Delia is almost completely finished with her psychology degree when a job offer comes in to help a country singer get his life back on track.
Drake is a country singer and rancher who is still reeling from the tragic loss of his wife and child a few years ago. His coping method of heavy drinking has reached a point that it is less Rockstar and more a cry for help ... that he doesn't want. Drake doesn't want Delia around, but is intrigued by her seeming lack of interest in pursuing him.
What happens when these two get put into the tight quarters of a tour bus? Will they figure out how to coexist and get Drake back on track, or will the clash be too much?
I liked how smart the storyline was about having the characters work through everything to make the HEA more satisfying and realistic.
As always Rye Hart delivers the best of romance for her readers. It is very well written and has a great storyline and plot. The characters are well described and they develop nicely through the story. They have a steamy chemistry and there are hot scenes. They are relatable and likeable. I like it is written in dual POV, which gives the reader both the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. I like to know what happens next, so the epilogue was welcomed.
The story is very captivating and kept me on the edge. I just had to read in one session. Rye Hart writes her stories with a use of words that makes you a part of the story. You feel you are there with the characters. It is so realistic.
And emotional rollercoaster with drama, drinking, intrigues, steamy scenes and unexpected twists. There is also family issues and alcoholism. Absolutely fantastic story that you have to read.
I Voluntarily Reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book!
This book by Rye Hart didn't cut it for me. It was a disaster, but no beautiful included. Drake fell for Delia? When? Before or after he treated her like used garbage under a drunk induced stupor? Or 36 hours sober in a hospital. The time lines dodnt match up, there was hardly any REAL dialogue between them prior to his rehab stont unless voyeurism is included or taking her virginity with no words? Really? Ugghh! I like this authors previous work, but this one barely made it 3 stars! The grammar was poor and the errors were too great to dismiss even if it was an ARC copy. My next question would be, "Where was Rye Hart during the creation of this disaster piece"?
Narely 3 stars because it had potential and the Autism side was a great work in, but other than that? Flatline------------------
This may be the best of Rye Hart's writing! Rancher and country singer star, Drake has lost his wife and daughter in a drunk driving wreck but has, himself, fallen to a drunken lifestyle. His manager hires Delia, a PA and student at Vanderbuilt majoring in psychology with a specialty in substance abuse, to keep him on schedule and to perhaps prepare him for getting sober. She goes with him and his team mates on a four site tour as they drink beer continuously while performing, and gather women for an orgy after the show. Delia is torn between her life experience of living with an alcoholic father and her attraction to Drake. Drake recognizes the lust of the innocent virgin and takes advantage. This is a heart breaking story! Can there be a happy ending? If you know Rye Hart, there's hope!
This book has hit me right in the heart. From the moment I started reading it, I was so drawn into the characters that I felt every emotion, and cried so many tears. Drake had his whole world taken from him in a moment, but took it harder than he thought and become an alcoholic trying to cope with it all. Delia had it rough growing up, losing both of her parents because of her father’s alcoholism. She wants to work with substance abuse patients and try to help them through rehab, but working with Drake was more than either of them bargained for. Their love for one another wasn’t easy to see, or for them to realize, but it’s stronger than either of them expected. I absolutely loved this story and cannot wait to see what Rye has in store next. I’m voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
I voluntarily received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am so very voluntarily leaving an honest review here. Five stars ? Sometimes I really wish there were more of them to give out, like 10? Well this book is certainly worth more than five stars so yes, 10 stars would be fine. As you read - I absolutely loved this book, and can still not fathom how this writer Rye Hart comes up with these creative ideas of his and plots and everything in between, but then again, that is the reason I am only an avid reader. This story is in my mind absolutely fabulous. It has certainly a good story line, lots of drama, lots of love, everything in between there as well and lots more of everything that is needed to make a good story great. So hopefully I have not riled your expectations so much up that you will be disappointed in the story, but it is so worth buying and reading!
Drake has it all. A successful singing career a beautiful wife and a little girl until one day a drunken driver takes his wife and child away. Four years later his band is big and he is living in fame but he is hurting every day and is drunk most of the time. His manager had enough and hired an assistant Delia to make sure he shows up at his concert and sober. He starts having feelings for her but is it enough to keep him from drinking and is it possible for him to find happiness again? Wow this book was fantastic. One minute into the book my tears were running down my face. It was so sad and emotional and so beautiful written. So much pain and I hoped for the best for Drake and Delia. I loved every single minute of it
This story manages to be both inspiring and upsetting at the same time. The demons Drake and Delia are fighting are huge and neither one quite knows how to ask for the help necessary. The lives of people I loved have been touched by some of these same demons, so I found it very easy to connect with Delia and many of the responsibilities she takes on. There is a strong emotional undercurrent here that's easy to get swept up by, especially in the power of the chemistry between Drake and Delia and the weight of the addictions he’s living with. I loved that through it all there is a light, sweet sense of humor threaded through the story that keeps it from going too dark. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
