The complete Under the Stars 4-book series, all in one bundle! Find out how 4 former boy band members live and love after the breakup of their band. From washed-up celebrities with hearts of gold to mega-superstars… from quiet nights at home to lavish parties… and after all, a happily-ever-after ending for each of the boys in the band.
Your Fallen Star (Book 1): Leo Stone used to be famous and adored, but now he just needs a comeback. He hires a young, naïve biographer named Jamie to write his life story and at first Leo is reluctant to let him into his life. But for Jamie, it's the dream of a lifetime. He used to have posters of Leo on his wall, and now he gets an up-close and personal look into his real life. Soon Leo and Jamie are sharing much more than the book, though, as sparks fly and they fall into each other's beds. But will their passionate fling be cut short when the media threatens to tear everything apart?
The Sweetest Star (Book 2): Eric Ronson never knew end up as a host on a live cooking show, but now he needs a co-host by his side. Dash Thompson lived a quiet life as a food writer until suddenly he's selected to work with Eric on live TV. What he didn't expect was that he'd be asked to pretend that he's Eric's boyfriend for the show. Behind the scenes, the two men clash like fire and ice. Dash hates Eric's playboy nature… until he starts to see a glimmer of something more. He can't help but start to fall for Eric in the sweet moments behind closed doors. Will their fake TV relationship become more than just pretend?
Wild Star (Book 3): For years, Adam Fara traveled the world, never wanting to settle down. But now he's landed in a small town near a misty forest-and his next-door neighbor Grey needs him in more ways than one. Grey has had a tough life and has wanted to leave town forever. But now that Adam showed up, Grey finally sees a glimmer of beautiful hope. Grey had never been in love like this before… but is it enough to stay in Fox Hollow? And can two wild hearts find home in each other?
Your Superstar (Book 4): Chandler Price is a true superstar. From his days in boy bands to starring in major movies, he can do it all. The problem is that his marriage wasn't quite as successful. His new producer, Ash Vance, is known for being a free spirit, and right now, Chandler just wants peace and quiet. But more and more, when they're together, Chandler begins to realize Ash is more than his reputation. Chandler begins to feel things he's never felt for another man: stirrings of desire. But Chandler is straight… right? With paparazzi and the whole world watching, do Chandler and Ash stand a chance at facing the truth-that they were meant for each other?
The stories are fun and engaging with fairly well-developed characters that become better as the stories progress. I especially appreciated the Adam and Chandler characters who were mentioned in previous stories enough to give you a sense of their characters before you got to their stories. It makes a difference when the continuation of a story isn't so jarring to suddenly be reading about someone new who was previously barely mentioned in passing. However (yeah, I have to add in a "but"), I have a couple of complaints that go so far as to lose a star in my review:
1) I hate when an author begins a story with a prologue that is actually a sneak-peek of the middle of the story and then DOESN'T BOTHER to clarify at the beginning of Chapter 1. It's a "prologue", you know, as in "before." Think about if you put on your favorite show, it starts out with your favorite character gagged and beaten with a gun to their head, then after the intro, it starts out like any other day and they don't bother to give you "48 hours ago..." or whatever. Sure, you'll eventually figure out, but how frustrating is that? You're left thinking "WTF?!" for far too long which just makes it harder to get lost in the story until a couple of scenes or chapters in, and you inevitably miss some clues at the beginning of the story. CONTEXT, people, it matters.
And then there's 2) the continual, minor editing mistakes like a multitude of commas where there don't need to be any and none where there should be. It makes a big difference in how the sentence is read: "Let's eat Gramma" vs. "Let's eat, Gramma." Plus, there were made up words repeated as though the author thinks they're legit, and I don't mean made up names, I mean like "howcome" and "perennially". Spelling and grammar check and dictionary exist for free in this age, and the fact that these simple mistakes were repeated throughout indicates that a checker was either not used or ignored. I get that that editing checks can be irritating and time consuming, especially if you're like me and refuse at least half the suggestions, but it's worth it for a publication like this to make sure you're not making these kinds of mistakes throughout your work. I was always taught that if the reader has to think too hard about what they're reading, the meaning is lost, so the writing should be reworked. Thinking too hard is not something most authors want to encourage; they just want their writing to grab the reader's attention and not let go. The reader shouldn't have to stop and think in order to figure out what's being said. Frankly, when the rest of the writing is this good, not using a checker is just inexcusable.
Even so, after all that is said, the series is worth reading. Just be prepared to occasionally be annoyed or thrown out of the story flow while you're trying to figure out what's really going on.
Four gorgeous love stories that I couldn't put down
There are four books in this boxset, and I haven't been able to stop reading since I picked it up, so my life has been on hold for 2 days straight. True story. But I don't regret a thing, because these books—every single one—were amazing, and worthy of 5 stars. Raleigh Ruebins knows how to craft an emotional, engaging story, and all her characters felt unique and interesting. Every book had its own themes that drove the story, and I loved all the different characters, each with their own loves and fears and broken dreams. I will be buying every book from this author in the future, because after reading these 4 books in a row, I'm convinced of her amazing talent to craft gorgeous love stories.
Four former members of a boy band each get their own romance. I already read and reviewed one of them: separately: "Wild Star." Each of the stories contains an overabundance of getting drunk and explicit sex. The stories are pretty typical. There's the lack of confidence, the fake boyfriend, and the megastar who just wants someone down to earth. Typos: lay and lie are usually used wrongly, blonde is feminine but used for a man, numbers are not written out, commas are used for semicolons, phased is used incorrectly, who's is twice confused for whose, apostrophes are missing. vice mixed up with vise, its for it's, chords for cords, like for as, and people sang "a capella" (without instruments) but with a piano, so that's the opposite of "a capella."
I gotta say I loved each and every couple in this series bundle. Each book at some point had me bawling and sniffling. The love shared between each couple was really well written and realistic in nature. Barring a few editorial mistakes and typos..I adored the 5 star boys. Each issue had a real life feel to it. I would like to see more books built around the friends in the background. I love this author.
I loved this series!! Each member of 5*Star is so sweet in their right! I couldn't pick a favorite if I tried, but if pushed, I'd probably say Adam. I just like the broody type!! Great read!!
Omg this series was absolutely amazing. This book was a page turner that I couldn't stop reading until the end. I had absolutely loved reading this book. I would highly recommended this book.
I just adored this collection. Fabulous characters and beautiful stories. They pulled me in from the beginning. So romantic. I couldn't pick a favourite character as they were all great. I will definitely be reading more by this author.
After reading and enjoying a fairy tale book of Raleighs I thought I'd give these a go and I was not disappointed..they were well written, sassy, sometimes sad, funny, sexy and they all had a perfect HEA I wish I could find the 5* star the beginning book to finish the series
