The Princess and the Giant…

Meet the Jor’gen Kindred. After leaving the main Mother Ship centuries ago to make a genetic trade with a massive race of people, they are thirty percent bigger than their ancestors. Which makes them 9 feet tall—giants to regular sized humanoids. Now, hundreds of years after the genetic trade which made them so huge, the Jor’gen Kindred have no more females and are seeking a new people to trade with. Bram, their captain, has been dream-sharing with a female from a small, cold, rocky planet at the far edge of the galaxy. The problem? She’s tiny compared to him.

Alanah is the ruler of her people but not by choice. After a plague carried off all the men and boys, including her father the king, she and the female members of her pre-industrial society were left to fend for themselves. Alanah has always felt like an outsider. Not only is she a princess but she’s considered much too tall for a woman. The other ladies at court sneer at her behind her back, wondering where she will ever find a man big enough to take her on.

Enter Bram, a giant three feet taller than Alanah. Suddenly the formerly too-tall princess is feeling positively petite. But Alanah’s planet is stuck in the Dark Ages and Kindred technology looks like magic to them—black magic. Can Alanah convince her people the giant race is safe to join with? And can she and Bram overcome their differences—both physical and emotional—to form a lasting relationship?

You’ll have to read Taming the Giant to find out.

Main characters: Bram and Princess Alanah Kingsdaughter
Type of Kindred: Jor’gen

This type of Kindred correspond to 9 feet tall—giants. Unfortunately they are no women left in their planet, so they constructed a Mother Ship and flew away into the space in order to discover suitable females to bond.
Bram is one of them and he is dreamsharing with Alanah who is a princess in a primitive planet. Her people don't know anything about technology and they obey the wishes of the evil Elder Witch.
During the last year all the males in this planet died.

Kindred consider the females suitable for bonding but the problem is that these women have normal sizes. Alanah, who is the tallest among them, is 6 feet tall. In comparison to Bram who is 9 feet tall, she is tiny.

Bram needs to win her heart before a “world-killer” destroys her planet. So he needs to convince her that
1. Size does not matter
2. Technology is not evil magic
3. Her world will be destroyed
4. He can make her "flower bloom"

The world building is excellent as usual, but I think this was my least favourite story of the series. "Giant erotica" is not my favourite theme. But still it is an awesome storyline.

It’s finally happened. The Kindred books have dropped too far in quality

When you have the same thing served to you over and over and over again it gets boring and there’s no enjoyment anymore. So without a doubt the Kindred series should end. I’d say before it drops in quality but it’s already dropped the lowest it possibly can.

Alanah was boring as hell and had NO personality. Like none whatsoever. There is honest to God nothing distinguishing about her. Tap water has more flavor and character. She’s a “pre-puberty” princess that falls in love with a giant. That’s it. That’s her entire personality summed up. 😑

And don’t even get me started on the hero. If you though Alanah was s****, wait till you meet Bran. If you took water and impossibly removed the flavor of it you’d get Brans personality. I LITERALLY can’t describe his persona to you. but I can tell you he’s a giant with braids because EA kept f******* reminding us about it almost every page. Hey EA, I’d hate to break it to ya but constantly describing the way your character looks doesn’t replace actually giving your character, CHARACTER. Who would’ve have known!!!! 😱

As for the plot, It felt like EA couldn’t for the life of her muster up 1 F*** for quality while writing this story. A kindergartner could have written this and done a better job. Iv never read a book so bad I wanted a refund. Honestly the only thing I liked about this story starting out was the creative type of Kindred. And EA shoved that down my throat so d*** much that by the time I finished the story I hated them. EA finally made me hate a Kindred race. Though not in the way I would have thought.

Overall the story was mediocre at best and the characters were so forgettable I’ll prolly forget about them in less than a day. Save your money and time. This book isn’t worth $.25 and a minute spent on it.

I enjoyed the book the more I read of it. The setting of Alanah's medieval world/planet threw me off in the beginning, but then like I said, it got better. This felt more like a fantasy novel, than a sci-fi one.

Unlike other Kindred books, there were no cameos from previous characters like Sylvan, Sophia, Liv, and Kat. In fact, the Jor'gen Kindred are not in touch with the other Kindred, and they have their own Mothership (with technologies that seemed more advanced than the original Mothership, or at least I don't remember EA mentioning droids that do all your chores for you on the original Mothership). I would have loved a scene where the two Motherships meet. Maybe in later books we could get that? I think it could be really interesting for them to reunite.

It didn't really bother me, but I know it will bother some other people: Alanah isn't fully sexually mature when she meets Bram (the Giant) because the DNA of her ancestors had been tampered with to ensure the girls remained virgins on their wedding nights. Her people believe that a witch needs to perform some sort of spell to make them "bloom".

This isn't a big deal, but I was wondering why the Jor'gen Kindred don't believe in cutting their hair?? It was mentioned but never explained.

A Quote I liked:
"Young and old, rich or poor, almost everyone, it seemed, had been dreaming of the giants from beyond the stars."

Anyway, this was a cute, quick read that I enjoyed! I really liked how the author wrote what her inspiration for this book was (and for the previous Kindred Tales too, which I read right before this one).

Sweet story. I took one star off of my rating due to the stuttering heroine, Alanah. A little bit of that goes a long, long way and I wanted to start yelling "Just spit it out, already!" at almost every paragraph with her speaking.

Otherwise, it is a great little story of a Kindred group who had lost touch with the main group and they had no females left to continue their race. So they built a Mother Ship based on the original one they knew about, and set out to try and find compatible mates. They happen upon a settlement of women on a doomed planet who had lost all of their men to a mysterious plague.

Really, a few more books could be written just about these characters and how they fare in the future. I would buy those.

Another fun and imaginative read!

Alanah is the ruler of a pre-industrial society whose people have no clue that life exists on other planets. The men were all killed by a virulent plague, leaving the women to eventually die out.

Bram is the leader of the Jor'gen Kindred, who split off from the main Kindred and went their seperate ways centuries before. Since most Kindred are born male, there are almost no females left, and the Jor'gen Kindred are doomed to die out.

Can these two groups get together and somehow make it work? Alanah's people and Bram's people need each other more than they know. Problem is, they're on a time limit: there's a killer asteroid headed straight for Alanah's world!

Taming the Giant is another fun, sexy read from the extraordinary imagination of Evangeline Anderson. Can't wait to read what's next!

I keep telling myself that I am going to stop reading this series and yet, once again I see three new Tales out and my curiosity makes me pick it up. So, pros. Yes, I was entertained. The sex was hot. The author has a very vivid imagination regarding creating crazy alien sexual customs. The cons of this book is the same in most Kindred (and Alien Bride Index series) books. This author has exactly one formula for her romances and sex between the characters. One. Not a couple of different ways characters finally do the nasty, just one. Fair warning and spoiler for every sci-fi romance book this author has ever written is below. Some crazy insane things happen that forces the man to pleasure the woman or have to do a ton of sexual acts but never the full deed. It's never nonconsensual, both characters always want to do all these sex acts, but shyness or insecurity on the woman's part stops this until the poor female gets a weird disease or eats an aphrodisiac or is on a planet with VERY public sexual rituals. And finally in the end, the female always has to convince or trick the man into completing their bond because he feels unworthy or that he's now protecting the female from himself. There, every Kindred book plot can be boiled down to those words. And the AMI series started out promising but I know the last 2 books were exactly like this. Another con in this one was the names of things. Seriously? Ms. Anderson is usually MUCH MUCH better than that. She also used the word human once (accident, I assume that the editor didn't catch) when these women are NOT from Earth.

Honestly, I'm always equal parts annoyed and entertained by these books. I keep picking them up just to see how crazy the sexual situations these characters get into are. This author is a one trick pony for the actual relationship but she's exellent at creating weird, crazy alien sexual customs.

Heart ❤warming

This book had me 😃 smiling and sighing the entire time I read. I really love the fated mates and the soul bond connection they have. This little world the giants found was like stepping into the middle ages of so long ago when magic and superstition ruled not science and technology. The one thing that could over come any differences was LOVE 💘. A wonderful way to spend an evening.

Continuation from this authors Brides of The Kindred Series. A series that I am proud to say sparked and fed the eternal flame that is my love for sci fi romance.

A clash of old meets new in the telling of this story.
On a medieval-esq planet where all the men have fallen to the red eyes plague, the Princes Alanah and all her female subjects have been left fending for themselves. The land is cold and it grows colder as winter approaches. Food is limited and the work is hard but must be done. There is nothing but work for the princess and she leads the way with her example... carrying out the work when it needs to be done. The only joy she has is when she dreams of the man with stone coloured skin and dark hair... but this saddens her to because dreams are not real....

Bram is captain of the Jorgen-kindred mothership. Technologically advanced, His kindred ancestors splintered away from the original mother ship years ago, to bond with the Jorgen. A race of giants and despite knowing that as always with the kindred race... eventually more males would be born and no females. Leaving a race of giant males to die alone.

Bram has been following his dreams of the Princess Alanah for some six months.. what feels a life time... but time is up... for Bram, the princess and her world... he has a short period of time to convince her and her followers to escape the planet before it is destroyed.

As always a beautiful, emotion packed and touching story, one that I adored. I loved the concept of the giant kindred...I saw the pictures that Evangeline posted that inspired her to write this book. I have to say she brought those pictures to life for me perfectly. This story was so well developed and and was beautifully written from both the princess and Bram’s point of view.

Touching and heart warming and filled with Evangeline’s tell tale ‘kindred chemistry’ I could not put it down!

WOW, another amazing book by Evangeline Anderson.

I just love the Kindred Bride Series and I love how the author brought something new to the table with this story. Taming the Giant is a little different then the other Kindred Bride books you have read but similar as well.

I love how the author took us back to the roots on some of the traditions of the early Kindred Bride Series. There was a tradition that I love in the first Kindred Bride Series that she added to this book and it brought a smile to my face. It was truly great to see.

Bram was a Jor’gen Kindred. Want to know more about the Jor’gen Kindred you will need to read the book but I will say this I fell in love with the gentle giants and hope to see more book with them in it.

Alanah Kingsdaughter had a lot on her shoulders. She was a princess of her plant and since her father’s death, she had a lot more harder work to do and keeping the women on her planet motivated was a big challenge.

I found Alanah’s planet a little interesting. It was now a planet of all women, not but chose. Her plant was very old fashion and they did not know much about things that we would know or even the kindred would know.

Bram had a great challenge on his hands. He had to go meet Alanah and the women of her planet without scaring them, their life was in his hands. I do have to say I love the chemistry that Alanah and Bram had. I just loved how they clicked. Of course with every book there has to be a villain and this book does have one but you will have to read the book to know more about that.

This book is very hot and steamy and I have to say I just loved Bram and Alanah’s best friends in this book. I do hope to see more book come out on the Jor’gen Kindred. Glad I got a chance to read the book.

This might be some of Ms Anderson's best Kindred writing. The story was so unique and well developed. The characters I wanted to love were so easy to love and the one that I really wanted to hate grated me wrong from the moment I met her, and I wanted to punch her. I was drawn into the tale from the beginning and found it impossible to put the book down, reading it from cover to cover in one sitting.

For being a princess in a difficult position, and the tallest woman in the kingdom, Alanah was such a strong female character and had me empathizing with her immediately as she worked hard and had a difficult time trying to get some of the other women to work as hard as she did. She didn't have to work, being a princess, but she did nonetheless, setting a wonderful example of someone who wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty to show others how it was done.

Bram, a giant Jor'gen Kindred has been dream sharing with the lovely princess for 6 months and has finally found her along with the rest of the women on the planet. As they bring their ship into orbit around the planet, they discover something that could potentially mean the end of the population of their kingdom. Desperate to claim his female and bond with her, he visits her kingdom and makes a plea to prove to her how much she means to him and how precarious their living situation is. Each of them has hurdles to overcome to reach the place of trust and happiness a bond can cause. And as with all of the Kindred novels, there is strong opposition that threatens not only their possibility of bonding but perhaps even their lives.

So far one of my favorite book series has been the kindred. I personally don't regret ever reading these and they are fantastic. This one was unique this kindred branch is the Jor'gen Kindred who are well 30%larger than other humanoids. They were warned that the kindred DNA would take over leading to eventually no woman. Then on the other side you have another race who's men have been all taken by a plague. They eventually get to meet but then we have a rude witch who likes things the way they are and several other challenges for our two leading characters. I won't say more because honestly read this book you will not be disappointed ;).

I usually love height differences in characters.
However, this one comes with a male main character that calls the love interest “little one” and a virgin fmc who despite being an of age adult, has not reached physical maturity yet. The main obstacle of the book is how the male main lead will physically pleasure the fmc into “blooming” aka going from pre-pubescent to physically mature.

I love this series and can’t believe something so gross is a part of it.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

I was looking around for Size Difference romance and found this. As far as I recall I haven't read anything else by this author.

I DNF around around the middle because they didn't have any developed chemistry and she was treated like and acted like a child. There were other personal red flags but when she's practically freaking out telling him she hasn't gone through alien puberty yet I checked out.

A disappointing read for me. This just wasn't up to par for me compared to other Kindred books. This was just a Sex Education 101 read for me--Kindred style. When I posted this review I forgot to mention that I got an ARC for this through Booksprout via Ms. Anderson.

This was a good read. It was basically a condensed version of the other kindred books. So, if you don’t want to read a longer version then this is perfect for you. I would have liked a bit more variation in this story from the others in the series though.

LOL... This book had me both laughing and cringing. It's low-quality content, even for cheap smut. Miz Anderson keeps hitting you over the head with these Jor'gen Kindreds' "lore"—I mean, what little there is of it, but yeah, let's hope she finds a way to keep adding to it as the series goes, however, I bet she'll just add the umpteenth Kindred race. Anyway, why the heck do we need a prologue explaining the origin of this Kindred branch if you're just going to repeat the exact same thing during the story, and in the lamest way possible? Just take a look at this gem:

Our ancestors knew the risk when they split off from the main branch of the Kindred to make a trade with the Jor’gen race . . . They knew the genes responsible for our larger than average size would go into overdrive and yet they still chose to join with the Jor’gen. Now our females are all gone and we are forced to go looking for new trade partners—females compatible with us genetically. The women of Alanah’s planet fit the bill. You said as much yourself.

Why is the hero explaining Jor'gen history to his Jor'gen friend? LMAO, such lazy writing and editing. He does this more than once, in fact, the conversations between the hero and his friend Ren are some of the most hilarious No-Shit-Sherlock infodumps I've read in years.

Last but not least, I find the fact that the heroine has a pre-pubescent body very... icky. To each their own, but I don't understand how people can simply overlook that—and that he "has to" introduce her to sex in order to make her mature physically. WHAT THE ACTUAL F... I can't be the only one bothered by this.

Steam: 3/5 - There's only a couple of scenes and the dynamic is pretty icky.

Romance: 2/5 - This is maybe the 5th Kindred Tales I've listened to? I'm not sure what happened. I loved the first couple of novellas and things really shifted with the full length books.

The last 2 in particular have been set on world's that are more abusive to women than our own. I come to romance for escapism. A responsibility written outlier is maybe even good, but I've been pretty repulsed by the world's Anderson is building.

The FMC is having problems developing sexually (cuz you NEED to take a dick to grow up 🙄) and the fact that the MMC keeps calling her "little one" while talking about her undeveloped sex organs... not my favorite.

There's a lot of gross language that sounds coded in context. The last book had a lot of the same vibes. I think the one before that had the MMC referring to his love interest as "little girl" the whole time, and I think I am now fully squigged.

Characters: 2/5 - not creative or multi-faceted

Plot: 1/5 - Getting painfully formulaic

Audiobook: 3/5 - I think most would be fine with it. I'm getting annoyed by the same narrator for every book having acting ticks.

Continuing with series/author: I think I may be in a hate listen loop? I dunno, never happened to me before. I don't have time to search out a new series and I need background noise. So here we are.

I may try reading reviews to see if any of the upcoming books are less misogynistic and skip around.

Awesome and heart melting

Wow. I loved every bit of this wonderful erotic romance. I’m not going to go over the blurb—the storyline is in the blurb so it’s not necessary to repeat it.

What I will say is that the plot was interesting, the characters were well-developed, the writing was well-done and fluid, there weren’t any lags or disjointed parts.

What I loved especially: Bram the Giant Hero was strong and devoted to Princess Alanah. He loved her intensely and treated her as if she were the most precious and cherished creature in the galaxy. My heart swoons!

The reason I read this book was I recommended it because of the virgin heroine and I can’t stand reading about heroines who have let other men besides the hero(es) into her body. And it didn’t disappoint. I loved the fact Princess Alanah was untouched; it was thrilling and so much more emotionally intense when it’s the hero who awakens her body and claims her. No other loser men clogging her memories or warping her emotions, just pure belonging to The One she loves. It was beautiful and erotic and the emotional connection was deep.

Finally the Kindred are back!

Yet again another 5 star read from Anderson. This new race of Kindred is something to behold. "For what normal-sized female would want to bond…with a giant"? Enters Braum captain and leader of the Jorgan Kindred." As one of the Jor’gen Kindred, Bram stood a little over 3 meters—well over 9 feet high. He was considered tall for his kind but not unduly so. The height and mass difference between them would mean that the top of Alanah’s head would barely reach his elbow when they stood side by side". If she’ll ever consent to stand by Braum and his crew of hot and plenty who are on the search for females to bound with. Can Braum convince her that they are made for each other and will she accept him ? "Immediately the man in her dreams rose to her mind again, as though he had been called by her wish for comfort. He looked so strong and his face was kind, despite his strange skin coloring and the glowing sapphire eyes". Alanah and Braum story is great start to the next race of Kindred.

I am rooting for Bram and Alanah !!

Princess Alanah is the last of her line after the death of her father the King. A horrible plague had taken all of the males in the kingdom, her father being the last. Elder Witch, the priestess, is the oldest female, and even though Alanah feels her jealousy, she still tries to be nice to her.
But there are no men, and there is
a lot the girls and women do not know about running the kingdom.
But Alanah will not give up !!!

Bram is a Commander of a mother ship full of his fellow Jor'gen men. They are in a quest to find women compatible with their species.
Or else they will die out.
Orbiting their mother ship around Alanah's backwater planet , the Kindred warriors computers surmise that a horrible awful is coming their way. Will Bram be able to warn Alanah and her subjects about the future , or will he be unable to save them ??
I enjoyed this story of the giant kindreds and I am always excited to read about thus world !! I thought the story was a great , easy read !!
