When Max took away her engagement ring he did it to hurt her. She knows she deserved it—she carelessly allowed their fun to seep over the embankment of their responsibility to one another, and it was Max who suffered in the flood.
Max took her ring to send a message that she had broken their circle of trust, demeaned their value; but it was himself he really sought to punish. There was much he had done that was wrong as well, and his Maggie had begun to suspect it.
Now all they had is scattered and as both of them try to find one another again in the jagged wasteland their destruction wrought on their relationship, other parties circle their perimeter, seeking to find value in their ruin ….
KT Morrison writes stories about women who cheat and loving relationships that go too far—couples who open a mysterious door, then struggle to get it closed as trouble pushes through the threshold.
Overwritten implausible stupidity with each scene emotionally overdone., overwritten and totally implausible. All three main characters are each unlikable and despite their alleged academic achievements emotionally selfish children. First two parts of this series were OK. But this one is horrible. Liked the two Losing His Wife sagas., but doubt if I'll spring for another of KT's overwritten, prolix and dumb books.
after an excellent last book.i was really looking forward to this one....but was sorely disappointed.. spoilers ahead!!
after Max had realised he was being sneakily being pushed out by Cole and Maggie his fiancee in the last book.he went and took her ring back as her and cole were having a hard sex session...which they constantly seemed to be doing although she was up until then engaged to marry Max!!…..in other words he had grown a pair after realising what was happening usually behind his back.....onto this book it opens well enough Max had ignored her tearful pleas and weeks of texts and was determined to stay away from her!. he was going to start all over again.and leave Maggie and Cole to their own deep love thing now..then Maggie contacted him begging him to meet her she still loved him couldn't live without him etc etc.so,Max relents agrees to meet her at a lodge in the mountains...but,she also asked Cole there as well!!..this is where this story starts to go downhill...fast!Max sees them both and knows he isn't there for their own personal heart to heart talk..and is mad so decides to leave so,maggie runs after him and begs him to stay.and they all decide to talk things out through Dares...but,yet again as much as his scheming tramp of an ex-fiancée keeps telling him she loves him, couldnt live without him was worried he was going to leave her for good.its still Cole she has her arms around most of the time...then of course they kiss and make up and its as it was before he took his ring back!! ..Maggie and Cole having major sex with Max as the bit player maybe getting a bit of the fun but,Maggie and Cole much much more time with Max watching mostly...so what was the point?....and now Max is in an even worse position.as the wedding has officially been called of so,Cole has become her main man..although he had been for some time now.so the only loser was Max.they had completely broken him now.the story had been damn good up until this point.now it fell off the rails...pity as the other books had been really good.....MAJOR SPOILER!!…..of course a few years later Maggie marries Cole..cant give it more than two im afraid poor conclusion from KT love his books but this falls well short for me:(
