A new full-length novel in The Front Range series of sweet historical Western romance!
Two ranching tycoons. A decades-old feud. A sheriff bent on ridding the town of lawlessness . . .
In the midst of the trouble brewing in Laramie City in 1878, Julia Carson yearns to be free of her parents’ smothering and wonders whether she’ll ever find a man worthy to love in such a violent town rife with outlaws.
But when Robert Morrison sneaks onto her ranch the night of her sixteenth birthday party, Cupid shoots his arrows straight and true. Aware that their courtship would be anathema to their fathers, who are sworn enemies, Robert and Julia arrange a tryst.
Yet, their clandestine dalliance does not go unnoticed, and forces seek to destroy what little hope their romance has to bloom. The star-crossed lovers face heartache and danger as violence erupts. When all hope is lost, Joseph Tuttle, the new doctor at the penitentiary, is given a letter and a glass vial from Cheyenne medicine woman Sarah Banks.
The way of escape poses deadly dangers, but it is the only way for Robert and Julia to be together. It will take the greatest measure of faith and courage to come through unscathed, but love always conquers fear.

The Examiner says of author Charlene "An adequate writer of historical fiction will include minor bits and pieces about the setting of their story. A good writer will do a bit of research to make sure there are historical facts included in the pages of their novel. A superb writer will create characters that could have actually lived during the time in which the story takes place and allows them to act as people in that time period would have really acted. Charlene Whitman is a superb writer."

“A great writer paints stunning pictures with words. Ms. Whitman is a great writer. Her characters are realistic and unique; their reactions to the oft-outlandish circumstances in which they are placed are genuine and often heart-wrenching. I read much of this book with tears in my eyes. A definite page-turner.” —M.
When I first picked up this book, I did not know it was from a series. Yet, I didn't have a problem with the fact that I had not read the prior five novels. To be honest, what drew me to this book was the location. Living in Colorado, I enjoy reading books that take place in my home state. Also, I am a fan of Westerns.
Julia and Robert were good. While, Robert is older, this didn't really play into their relationship as much as the rivalry. I understood Julia's mother wanting to protect her daughter but I felt like she wasn't really seeing Julia's side either.
While, I liked this story and the location as I mentioned; the characters didn't really come alive for me. Thus at times I was going through the motions of reading but not really comprehending what was happening in the story. This was kind of a hit and miss affect throughout this book. However, I would read another book from this author.
Wyoming Tryst by Charlene Whitman is the 6th book in The Front Range Series, but the books are all stand alones, so it was no problem that I have not read the first 5 in the series. Each book in the series from what I have seen are of different characters and places. I very much enjoyed this series. I used to read historical romances all the time. It was pretty much my chosen genre, but I have branched off and and read mostly other genre's now. It was really great to go back and read this book. It reminded me of how much I love historical romances.
This book actually has quite a few characters in it, and even though I did not love all the characters at first, by the end of the book I loved them all even the ones I hated. Charlene Whitman has done a wonderful job bring this story and Laramie City to life. This was a full on Western with a love story, lots of conflict, there were the sweet element, and the book caused all of the feelings to emerge at one point or another in the book. I would definitely recommend this book and will looking for the prior books and all future books in this series.
I was given this free review copy book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Using a lot of $5 words and $3 phrases, this book was different from any Western I have read and unusual for romances that use Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet theme. There is plenty of family conflict and drama, characters that you have no trouble disliking. At first I could not figure out with which side my loyalties would lie. There is also a religious element to this story, based on a strong faith in God to provide a way for the lovers to unite. A third element and secondary plotline that weaves around the others, holding the story together is that of Joseph Tuttle, assigned to the territory prison. He hopes to bring some ease to women prisoners and reform to the overall system. He is the true hero in this tale. Romance, faith and a lot of gunplay in a lawless town make for an interesting yet violent read.
I haven’t read all of the books in this series, but now I want to. Charlene Whitman writes such fun and tropey yet detailed characters! This play on Romeo and Juliet was romantic and entertaining, and the last 100 pages were so fast-paced and exciting! I really want to read the stories of the other couples in this series. I’m not into Christian romance, and I wouldn’t classify this book as that, but there are certainly some light elements of it that I think lovers of Christian romance would appreciate. Overall, I enjoyed this sweet historical romance. I would like to thank the author for sending me this book in exchange for an honest review.
WYOMING TRYST by Charlene Whitman: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ So good. This book is so good. At first I had trouble keeping all of the characters straight. Then their personalities came out in depth. The story had me going through all kind of emotions. Happy, sad, worry, anger and a lot of others. At times I was on the edge of my seat.
I liked it! Romeo and Juliet meets the wild wild west. You just have to shake your head at the length the men go to hold a grudge. So much of the town's hate and lawlessness is centered on two families. The book slowly reveals the reasons and how it affects the children that fall in love. Julia and Robert have a good story.
I received an ARC copy of this book from Send Books for an honest review. This was the first book I read by this author. I enjoyed the storyline and was caught up in how the author was going to bring the story to a HEA. There is a lot of drama that takes place to keep Julia and Robert apart
I haven't read the other books of the series, but didn't have the feeling I missed anything. You can easily read it as a standalone. I liked the setting, but thought the characters lacked depth. It was a nice quick read.
I received a free copy from NetGalley in return for a honest review
Loved it! What a great series this has been! Not sure if this is the last book or not, but I'm hoping not! I have enjoyed them all! Love the Banks family and how they pop in every book! And I loved the Romeo and Juliet references! So cool! Great read!
Can't wait for more to come! I absolutely love this series! I recommend these to anyone. Love the continued corporation of including the Banks in the books.
I think this wild west romance was not quite for me. It is written well and can be a quick summer read, but i think would have been better if had read the rest of the series and not as a stand only. By the end I was skim reading just to be finishes and not something that I am going to keep on my shelf to read again.
