Puppies!!!!! And they are named after national parks — how can a reader resist that? Plus, there are three K-9s in this story as well!!! This might be the first book I’ve read where the dogs outnumber the humans and I’m loving it!

Okay, the hero and heroine are pretty cool too. We’ve met them both in previous Military K-9 books and I’ve actually been really looking forward to Isaac’s story. No worries if you haven’t read any of the previous books — each one reads well as a stand-alone. Though they share a common suspense thread, each story has a unique mystery to solve too...and a romance to sort out! But I earned bragging rights because I figured out who the anonymous blogger was two books ago and information in Battle Tested proves l was right!!!! Woot! How’s that for some keen armchair sleuthing?

Looking forward to the series grand finale next month when the Red Rose Killer will finally face justice!

I can't get over the high ratings on the books in this series. To me the series is so disappointing. I am a lover of dogs and I spent several years raising service dogs. I love our military as well as civilian law enforcement and I was thrilled to find a sale on the audiobooks in this series. I purchased several. The titles and descriptions on the books are misleading. The books I listened to were poorly written with not enough content about MWDs (Military Working Dogs), too much agonizing romance and too many religious sermons and praying for this series not to be listed in the "Religious" genre. Not what I was looking for when I purchased books that were supposed to be "Mystery Thrillers".

Okay so,
Apparently I read this back in 2019. Didn't remember a thing about it. (still can't recall actually reading it) Except who was behind the attacks. And even then it wasn't a solid remembrance but more of. "It's probably this guy" and it was confirmed in the story.
Still a solid three stars. Will I actually remember this the next time around.... I dunno maybe. This time I listened to it via an Audiobook. That might make it stick in my mind a lot more.

The narrator did a good job. The characters were likable. Not my favorite book in the series, but not bad. Although I am glad the next one is the last. This whole Red Rose Killer thing is getting a bit tedious and drawn out.
So is this book
Recommended? Eh probably, particularly if you're reading the series. I mean the story itself isn't all that important. But we find out who the anonymous blogger is so there's that.

Military K-9 Unit #7–Laura Scott. I actually gave this book a 3.5 rating. The story was fast-paced. I loved the basic story and the characters were well developed. My only complaint was the preachiness in the last three or four chapters. Scott had told a really good story and then wham she beats you over the head with the preaching.
Vanessa Gomez is one of the RRK’s targets. She can’t think of a reason for him to target her for death. She helped him once a long time ago. Vanessa is an ICU nurse at the base hospital and she has reported to the Security Forces and the head of the PTSD psychiatrist department a problem with patients dying from overdosing on Tyraxal, a drug used for treating PTSD.
Isaac Goddard is a former helicopter pilot who suffers from PTSD. He has been grounded until further notice. He can’t fly anymore because of the PTSD. He has come to the hospital for a therapy session when he encounters Vanessa being attacked by a man in a ski mask and dark hoodie. Isaac takes on the duty to protect Vanessa and her younger brother Aidan who suffers from extreme PTSD.

He is at it again. This time the Red Rose Killer is targeting Vanessa a nurse who helped him.

Vanessa is so tiered of being blamed for helping Boyd, the Red Rose Killer.. That awful blogger keeps hinting she is the one helping him get on and off the base when all she has-time todo is work and take care of her brother siffering from PTSD. The security force treats me half the time like they don’t trust me then the other half like they do. It is so frustrating. All she wants is to go home.
Issac and his trauma dog are walking down the hospital corridor when they here the cry and loud voices. Then the silence hits him and he races to the room he heard the sounds coming from finds the light switch and sees the hooded man strangling the beautiful woman and goes to the rescue. The man races from the room and Issac starts to go after him but realizes he can’t leave the lady until he knows she is alright.
Hy I’m Issac , how are you ?
I’m Vanessa and my throat hurts. This is how the story starts and it gets worse as it continues.

Good entry in the ongoing search for the Red Rose Killer. Vanessa Gomez is a nurse at the base hospital who has noticed an uptick in overdoses in a PTSD drug. She is also a recipient of Sullivan's red roses which makes her a target.
Isaac Goddard is a pilot suffering from ongoing PTSD as well as guilt over the combat death of his best friend. Bringing his buddy's war dog home and caring for him has been his focus and finally, he hears that the dog will be arriving the next day. He intercepts someone attacking Vanessa after leaving the hospital and becomes interested in her life and family, specifically her brother, also suffering from PTSD.
As their feelings for each other deepen, the threat of danger overtakes both of them. The only positive thing is that an abandoned litter of puppies has been given to them to foster and Vaness's brother takes to the job like a duck to water. It brings him out of his depression.
The killer is still at large, but there is danger from other areas and they all feel it. The killer also leaves a threatening message for yet another innocent person and the suspense continues.

this is a page turning story I could not put down till I finished it. Isaac is suffering from ptsd, Vanessa is a nurse in the icu someone is out to get her, Isaac offers to help guard her she is also trying to help her 20 year old brother who is also suffering with ptsd. on a walk they find some puppies and have them check out and get permission for them to foster the puppies, her brother is very good with the puppies. and they help him to copy. who is trying to killer her and is that connected to the puppies and the deaths of several overdose victims? I love the series and the dogs looking forward to the next book. I got my book form Harlequin love them

What a series

The heroine is thought to be assisting the Red Rose Killer in getting in and off the base. The hero is dealing with PTSD and guilt of losing his best friend Jake. If the heroine is assisting the Red Rose Killer than who is trying to kill her. The hero is assigned to protect her. With the heroine's belief in God and her caring spirit the hero is pulled back into the light. This book has attempted murder, drugs, and we find out who the anonymous blogger is. You will never believe it😉

Problem Solvers

While the hunt for Red Rose Hunter continues, people become more involved with supporting each other with life's challenges. PTSD is presented in a little more detail. Other crimes are solved. Puppies are involved. I enjoyed again a book that shows people and animals working together.

Another installment in this mystery series. These have been some of my favorite characters of the set and I particularly enjoyed the puppies (and naming them after national parks was so cute!) Adding service dogs to a mystery/thriller just makes it that much more easy to please me...plus I really enjoyed Vanessa as a character, even in earlier books of the series.

Battle Tested

She's a nurse with questions about recent overdoses, he's a pilot that was shot down losing his best friend suffering from PTSD. Her nemesis is using the Red Rose Killer to cover his attempts to silence her. After several attempts and her brother's regression they figure it out. Great story.

WOW!!!!!

Another excellent installment in the Red Rose Killer thriller. Another exciting love story involving a thrilling mystery. At least all animals were safe in this one not so much the humans.

Laura Scott, you sure do write good books! I loved the story of Isaac Goddard and Vanessa Gomez, her brother Aiden, and the effect therapy dogs can have for PTSD patients. We must be closing in on the "mysterious blogger" and the "Red Rose Killer!" Hurry next book, hurry!

Not a bad book, it's intrigued me enough to want to read the next one, which I think is the last of the series. (Which I didn't know about until I shelved this book, But I probably won't get to the rest any time soon.)

3.5 Stars... Had some very good bits in the story and again highlights what some servicemen and women have suffered in the service of their country. It was also very unrealistic in places...
