Pride & Surrender

Rate this book
I want no part of messy emotions, of lust and surrender. But none of that seems to matter to Christos Constantine. No matter how much I resist, no matter how much I fight, he keeps coming after me...and I am powerless.

My pride and strength of will have always kept me safe. The armor I’ve built around me is impenetrable and no one is allowed to see beneath. I’ve kept Christos and the attraction that simmers between us at bay for two long years, but he’s done taking no for an answer.

I don’t think I have the strength of will to resist, but I will not go down without a fight.

Jennifer Dawson is the author of the popular Something New series, spicy, small town romance released with Kensington, and pens the dark and edgy contemporary romance series Undone.

Jennifer Dawson grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and graduated from DePaul University with a degree in psychology. She met her husband at the public library while they were studying. To this day she still maintains she was NOT checking him out. Now, over twenty years later, they’re married and living in a suburb right outside of Chicago with two awesome kids and a crazy dog.

Despite going through a light FM, poem writing phase in high school, Jennifer never grew up wanting to be a writer (she had more practical aspirations of being an international super spy). Then one day, suffering from boredom and disgruntled with a book she’d been reading, she decided to put pen to paper. The rest, as they say, is history.

These days Jennifer can be found sitting behind her computer, writing her next novel, chasing after her kids, keeping an ever watchful eye on her ever growing to-do list, and NOT checking out her husband.

4.5 Amazing Stars!

Anyone who knows me KNOWS that Jennifer Dawson's books are desert island level books for me. I would legit feel bereft without them. For that reason the minute Pride & Surrender hit my kindle I knew it was on. GAH!!! I loveeeeed Christos and Juliet. They were SO sexy addicting and the tension between them? OMG was it palpable!!! I absolutely loved their story and could not get enough of these two. Dawson took enemies to lovers to another level with this one!! Amazing!!

I loved that this story highlights an alpha male to the core and the sassy woman that is his match. But besides being the commanding, dominant, uber sexy Greek God that Christos Constantine is, he is also the only person who can see deep down to Juliet Russo's soul and see the true heart of this woman. He sees through her perfect icy exterior and facade she puts out to the world and wants the hot blooded woman underneath. Juliet is his perfect match and while she is all sparks and attitude, deep down she needs to cede all control to a man to finally be free and wild.

Wow! I loved this story. I loved that Christos never wanted to change Juliet but only wanted to challenge her to put her insecurities aside and embrace the goddess she was inside. This was such a joy to read and I look forward to more from this author in the future! Bravo! 4.5 stars!! ~Ratula

Eh.

I love Jennifer Dawson but this one didn't work for me, unfortunately. I didn't connect with the characters, and I couldn't understand why they were attracted to each other so much. Most of the time I was just bored.

This book was one of Jen's earlier works under a different name, iirc. I'm glad to find that her later works and writing are so much better and stronger.

E-ARC is received thanks to the author.

I love the way Jennifer Dawson tells a story! Her writing style makes you feel what the characters are feeling. This was the story of a whirlwind romance between two business competitors. I love Christos from the beginning. It took me some time to warm up to Juliet, but I did warm up to her once I realized she was holding back.

This was a very quick read and it was over before I realized that was the end. I would have like to seen this one written as a full length book and some of the side characters developed some more.

Overall it was another hot read from Jennifer Dawson.

He pushes her buttons. She pulls away. She tries his patience. He keeps coming back for more. Pride & Surrender should be called ways to surrender. Christos and Juliet have a love - hate relationship that has spanned years of pent up attraction. Christos has had enough of the back and forth. Seduction is on the agenda and Dawson knows how to deliver the heat. The chase is on and the trap is set. Pride & Surrender is a tempting delight.

There is no story line so I had a hard time getting into the book and forced myself to finish.
Not my cup of tea!
I love Jennifer Dawson books but this one fell short for me.

There is no storyline in this book, but it was one of the most evocative, sensuous and satisfying I have read in a while. The reader becomes Juliet, but at the same time rooting for Christos to break through all the barriers Juliet has erected. Juliet and Christos are, at first glance, two opposites Juliet insecure and afraid while Christos is self assured and bold. By the end of the book they are as one each secure in their own role in the intense relationship they have developed leaving the reader with a sigh of satisfaction.

I voluntarily read an advanced review copy of this book

This book was really good. I was very sucked into the characters and their story. Juliet was so guarded and Christos was surprisingly open and ready for love... I felt so invested in their relationship because the emotions seemed so real

After years of a love hate relationship Christos decides enough is enough and he will not stop until Juliet puts all of her pride aside and surrender to everything he has to offer.

Will Christos succeed in convincing Juliet that he is everything that she will ever need? Read and find out!

Pride & Surrender is one of the best romance stories that I've read recently. It's filled with passion and sexual tension. At the same time, it doesn't lack humor and friendly banter. I've already read it twice and I'm looking forward to coming back to it in my immediate future. I only wish the story was at least twice as long because it's one of those books you wish never to end. I recommend it to all romance lovers without any hesitation. You'll not be disappointed.

I love Jennifer Dawson’s writing. Apparently, this is an earlier work that was re-tooled and re-released. I haven’t read the original, but I liked this version very much. It’s an enemies to lovers story between rival business competitors. It’s a quick and sexy read that will make you want to read Ms. Dawson’s whole catalog because she’s gotten better with every book!

Sex on a stick.
Juliet has been fighting the inevitable, Christos. He is sexy, good looking, undeniable, a force of nature. Her destiny. Christos, well he knew it all along.
This book is hot, sexy and so, so good! No spoilers.
I was given this book to read and this is my honest opinion.

Sparks, witty banter, a strong woman to complement a dominant yet protective man. Love the banter, love how he never tries to change her. Wish I had some more of their earlier story . Loved it so ...

A very intense novella, I love the writing, the emotional connection between christos and juliet.
Juliet's charater was so reliable with her insecurities and christos was perfect alpha dominant, but sweet, loving and caring.

An older work of Jennifer under another name. She has grown alot since this work but it is still a good story.

Very much a raw, sensual journey for Christos and Juliet.
