Nancy Fisher’s sister, Alexis, had left Earth to marry an alien. Her father then uprooted the rest of the family to California, which was far more crowded than Wyoming had been. Nancy missed her sister. She had never met her Milisarian brother-in-law or niece, but Alexis kept in touch with her as much as she could. With her father’s death, Nancy now lived and cared for her mother. She had so many conflicting feelings toward Alexis who had a good life and did not have to give up anything as Nancy felt she had to do.
The news station suddenly broke in to announce riots going on locally and worldwide after experimental labs, which everyone thought had been wiped out, were discovered. The aliens that had been tortured and experimented on were in bad shape. Then more labs were discovered and everyone was warned to stay off the streets to be safe. Nancy went to public meetings and to help in the recovery centers for the aliens who were experimented on. And when Nancy contacted her sister, Alexis arranged help from Milisaria to negotiate and calm things down. Nancy was brought to D.C. to assist. Their meeting with the President would be crucial as she met with world leaders to work out a resolution. On Milisaria, King Siefer contacted leaders of the other planets, whose people had been harmed, to eliminate retaliation against Earth and maintain peace. Would their efforts be enough? Would their example allow others to change and move toward acceptance? It was clear that there was much to be done by all.
This is a book about how love and caring for the well-being of others’ can change a person from the inside out. Nancy, whose feelings had been mixed up for much of her life, living in her sister’s shadow, is given a chance to do something to help not only Earth but the entire universe. Srath, who had been angry, rebellious, self-centered and prone to violence to resolve things, was able to see from another perspective and completely change his attitude and expectations. It provided the growth, maturity, and the development that both characters needed to heal their own brokenness and find their place in the universe. There is so much going on in this book that will captivate the reader and provide many things to think about. It is well worth reading!
