Liked this book a lot!
So real, so freaking real. Normal people with normal struggles; and even if it started a bit bizarre (marriage arrangement), it was still plausible.
My main and only complain - Pop... WTF??? WTFF? Pop, are you for real, man??!
Weird family dynamic, but the sisters were ok. The heroine was my favourite of all.
Strong, loyal heroine. Some may say she was a bit selfish, but I found her very cool. I wasn't a big fan of the hero at the beginning, but he won me over with his love for his parents. He was an amazing son. Respect.
He was, IMO, a very good man. And I don't say it often. Good hero.
Conflict toward the end was maybe a bit odd, but then I got it.
Safe. No OW. No slut-shaming. He wasn't a manwhore and she wasn't a virgin.

Working for family can really suck. Especially when you are treated less than because you are a woman, have a grandfather who holds all the power, and deep down you still want his approval and recognition for all of the success you have brought the company.
Yup, Family Businesses can be difficult. Melissa Greyson has been dealing with this type of situation since forever. She has a grandfather who holds the trust fund purse strings and threatens to cut her siblings and her off if she does bend to his will. Melissa doesn't care if she is cut off... she has been working and thriving there at the company. Her sisters, on the other hand, would have no means of support and the cagey grandfather knows it.
It is with this in mind that the man lays out his latest demand... He wants Melissa married and with babies now... no, she has put his off long enough... it is now or he will fire her and cut off the sisters for good this time. Somehow, even with her talents which would make going to the competitor very, very easy for a position, Melissa loves this company and doesn't want to leave it. She bites the bullet and decides she will figure this out. A pretend beau is mentioned and when asked who, she is coy about who it is... the deal is struck and now the clock is ticking.
As Melissa ponders this impossible situation she is in, she sits and takes in everything her grandfather demands. He didn't say who it had to be...and Melissa pretended she had someone already...She needed to find the one person she could convince to play part-time hubby for a set period of time with actual sharing of housing etc. She needed to have something this person would want in order to put up with her...as she wasn't the most user-friendly woman.
And then a slow smirk comes over her face and inner glee bubbled. Ahhh, this will be perfect because Grandfather will hate this...Yes, this will stick it to him and he will not be able to do a damn thing about it. Now she will just have to pull up her big girl panties and ask the one person she never wants to deal with...

He likes to get under her uptight controlled skin...And every time he is at an event where all three of them are there, the old man blows a gasket, smarting and talking about who he think he is...
Melissa knows exactly what she needs to do. She will promise Trevor all of Greyson's advertising in exchange for him to be her legit for a year part-time husband. It will be the carrot he wants and it will make her grandfather ever-loving nuts...Win-Win for all...
This book had much going for it. The push-pull of these two opposites together...how she needs to lighten up and how we see what an amazing man Trevor actually is. There is a lot of family drama and insecurities... but both of them end up overcoming it all.
Noelle Adams brings heart and humor to this tale. She has us experience all of the ups and downs of the characters. She gives us a solid read.

I enjoyed it. I like the hero. I like the heroine. I like the hero’s parents but can say the same about the heroine's family. I definitely didn’t like the pop.
I didn’t like the last misunderstanding and I am cutting stars for that. Overall it was good.
I like the new definition of Smug and Obnoxious. :P

Gah! I loved Trevor and his eyebrow so much! The banter between these two characters is what really made this story. They were so much fun to read about. Rereading this made me realize that not having the hero’s point of view actually ramps up a delicious anticipation for the final reveal when we learn how he feels and when he started to feel that way. There are so many clues throughout the story and I found myself giggling with anticipation for that moment. Definitely a book worth the read and reread!

In order to save her job with her grandfather’s company, Melissa must come up with a husband. Fast. After a meeting with her sisters, she has the perfect candidate. Trevor Bentley is an obnoxious, smug so-and-so and the one man that grates on her grandfather’s nerves more than anyone else. Unfortunately, she doesn’t like Trevor one bit and the feeling is mutual. With a lucrative “business” proposal in hand, she asks him to marry her.
What follows is all the wonderful, mixed emotions and sexy times that a marriage of convenience can offer. Written completely in the heroine’s point of view, there is no doubt that the hero has more than just business on his mind. I loved how Trevor was all into Melissa. I’ve read books with dirty talkers and just during sex dirty talkers, but Trevor gave a whole new meaning to the word. His wasn’t your usual dirty talk, his was all about his lady. Sigh. Totally swoon worthy ladies!
I especially enjoyed reading the emotional changes that took place within Melissa. She had built walls around her and Trevor’s smirky obnoxiousness, the thing that she had initially despised, were the tool that slowly crumbled them. And when he messes up. Holy heck he gave good grovel. Not all of it verbally, but sometimes remaining strong and steadfast is the best form of grovel. Sigh…again.
This was such a fun and totally enjoyable read, fast paced with well-developed secondary characters and steam that will singe your fingers where you hold the page. The resolution is not a blink and it’s over but oh so perfect as it fit in with this hero and heroine. And the epilogue left me with a happy sob and then a giddy smile.

Now that I have read all of the "Trophy Husband" series I am not even sure if I could pick a favorite.
All three were equally delightful and yes I did read this series out of order. So technically this is the first one but I didn't read it until after I finished the other two .
These are such happy and heartwarming romances and also very effortless to read.
I am really enjoying this authors books in general and I find that Noelle Adam's writing has this easy sort of flow to it. I really do prefer to read her books in one sitting when I am able to (i.e. I don't get bored or lose interest, I don't need to take a break, you get it).
I liked Melissa a lot in this story as the strong, levelheaded businesswoman that makes decisions with her head but who is still a very considerate and kind woman with a sympathetic heart.
Trevor was also a revelation. Not as smug and obnoxious as he would have Melissa or others believe.
I would consider these books to be lighthearted, sweet, feel good type of romances but they are also really fun and enjoyable to read.

Two things I truly loved about this book:
✔ this is the first book EVER I've read and enjoyed it being written in only one POV. Honestly, a romance with one POV is usually one of my pet peeves, but it made a perfect sense here, it escalated the tension, made me eager for the revelation. Two POVs would only take away from the story in this case imo.
✔ this was one of the rare books where I truly loved both MCs. And I mean, I would love to be friends with them, to meet them, to hang out with them... Actually, I don't even remember when, if ever, this has happened to me. They were both considerate, generous, loyal, weren't touchy or petty or fake or stuffy, could laugh at themselves and were able to admit a mistake. I could relate to and sympathize with them so well.
What I didn't like that much:
- there was a lot said about Trevor being smug or obnoxious or annoying or just generally an arrogant asshole... but that was. Just being said. I didn't see it in his actions somehow. So all this talk about his attitude came across empty to me.
- also, I didn't like Pop and the way he bullied everyone around him. I wouldn't care so much about it but it made Melissa seem so weak...
Nevertheless, it was well written, the story flowed easily and I enjoyed this book immensely. I've already reread some parts more than once, I especially loved their banter and the "come together" in the end was a cherry on top.

4 stars. I REALLY liked this book. It’s well-written and has a fun premise. The beginning of the story was especially fun and just had me chuckling at the dialogue. This would have been a five star read if not for the heroine’s commitment issues and her constant indecision about the hero. Problems with commitment just irritate me after a while, but it’s a me thing, not the book.
This is a marriage of convenience story where the heroine proposes to the hero because her grandfather forces her into a corner. He says she has to get married or he will take her job away - she works for his company and really loves her position. He’s a pretty shitty character, and tbh I hope he dies before the end of this series! The heroine decides to marry the man who her grandfather hates the most - which is how she ends up proposing to the hero. They live together, share a bed (I love the one bed trope), and really get to know each other. There are some ups and downs and they get a really cute HFN ending.
I think I’ll hold off on reading more books from this series because a few reviews have mentioned that all of the books are basically the same as this one. Does anyone know if that’s true? Because if so, I’ll wait until this one fades in my memory a bit.

I’m a romantic and this was so cute I could cry.
It was my fave ever, arranged marriage and enemies to lovers.

They’ve known each other a few years I suppose? Thought the other was attractive, but disliked each other in light of the circumstances because the hero tried to get a job at the heroine grandfather’s company, and was essentially ousted/not hired which caused bad blood. He built his own company in retaliation, and is a hard worker who didn’t grow up with the best economic situation. Smug, confident, good looking guy. Somewhere along the way, she needs a husband because of the grandfather who has archaic ideals, and says he’s going to scrap her job.
They fall in love throughout the year of the relationship. Very, very reluctantly. I so admired that about her. I don’t like heroines who’s heart live in their vaginas and say I love you to the hero 2.5 seconds later. His mother says he’s in love with her even if he himself doesn’t know it. She’s incredibly strong and accomplished. She doesn’t cry, and it takes a lot for her to break. She made the book for me.
I’m still having a hard time swallowing what he about her to her grandfather. It was so cruel. I don’t think him being at the end of his tether or feeling vulnerable or being instigated by her grandad was an excuse. Like I can imagine him saying that to say a guy who was interested in her, or an ex and it would make sense. But saying those crude things about her to her grandad? Like bruh, what you doing? You’re talking about her in a way that would hurt her most.
She overheard. Lashes out. He’s remorseful. I mean I wouldn’t have minded if a few tears came out on his end. But he’s miserable. Takes a week to forgive him. And grovelling, I appreciate that. And they make their marriage a real one. They are quite loveable but this book really, really, really needed a couple chapters in Trevor’s point of view. It was a necessity after what he did. I know he felt mad guilty, begged her for her forgiveness but we needed a chapter to manifest his love for her. She’s like a 5/5 heroine. He’s like a 3.5, if I’m generous 4/5 hero. I also appreciate their problem being a relationship problem though instead of a third party one.
Also I need to say this. I like foreplay in books. For this couple though, it felt like necessary foreplay as an accessory to sex. Like there was no scene where they went down on one another for fun or just the sake of because they like it. So that was a very meh aspect of the book.
Safe. They weren’t on each other’s radars romantically when they met so I assume they’ve been with OP. Fine by me since both parties were and we don’t get the details in anyway whatsoever on page. Book needed a bit of banter though to build their relationship on a lighter level. I wish he went after her, even if he becomes the pursuer later on and obviously the relationship was a contract. ALSO, also, she has two sisters so clearly the next book is going to be about them. And I don’t think I want to read about Sam and this Hunter who’s name made an appearance in the last two pages because they are going to be second chance couple and apparently she was in love with him but he was emotionally unavailable. They’ve known each other a few years I suppose? Thought the other was attractive, but disliked each other in light of the circumstances because the hero tried to get a job at the heroine grandfather’s company, and was essentially ousted/not hired which caused bad blood. He built his own company in retaliation, and is a hard worker who didn’t grow up with the best economic situation. Smug, confident, good looking guy. Somewhere along the way, she needs a husband because of the grandfather who has archaic ideals, and says he’s going to scrap her job.
They fall in love throughout the year of the relationship. Very, very reluctantly. I so admired that about her. I don’t like heroines who’s heart live in their vaginas and say I love you to the hero 2.5 seconds later. His mother says he’s in love with her even if he himself doesn’t know it. She’s incredibly strong and accomplished. She doesn’t cry, and it takes a lot for her to break. She made the book for me.
I’m still having a hard time swallowing what he about her to her grandfather. It was so cruel. I don’t think him being at the end of his tether or feeling vulnerable or being instigated by her grandad was an excuse. Like I can imagine him saying that to say a guy who was interested in her, or an ex and it would make sense. But saying those crude things about her to her grandad? Like bruh, what you doing? You’re talking about her in a way that would hurt her most.
She overheard. Lashes out. He’s remorseful. I mean I wouldn’t have minded if a few tears came out on his end. But he’s miserable. Takes a week to forgive him. And grovelling, I appreciate that. And they make their marriage a real one. They are quite loveable but this book really, really, really needed a couple chapters in Trevor’s point of view. It was a necessity after what he did. I know he felt mad guilty, begged her for her forgiveness but we needed a chapter to manifest his love for her. She’s like a 5/5 heroine. He’s like a 3.5, if I’m generous 4/5 hero. I also appreciate their problem being a relationship problem though instead of a third party one.
Also I need to say this. I like foreplay in books. For this couple though, it felt like necessary foreplay as an accessory to sex. Like there was no scene where they went down on one another for fun or just the sake of because they like it. So that was a very meh aspect of the book.
Safe. They weren’t on each other’s radars romantically when they met so I assume they’ve been with OP. Fine by me since both parties were and we don’t get the details in anyway whatsoever on page. Book needed a bit of banter though to build their relationship on a lighter level. I wish he went after her, even if he becomes the pursuer later on and obviously the relationship was a contract. ALSO, also, she has two sisters so clearly the next book is going to be about them. It was a nice story with an interesting plot and an overheard scene but not so much gut wrenching, definitely low angst. But I have to mention how much I hate reading that a 28 year old is giggling. I can't picture anyone above 25 doing that, mostly because when I read giggling automatically my brain thinks of a little girl and she definitely isn't that.

Anyway, A HUGE THANK YOU TO MY LOVELY FRIEND Bookishly Baking FOR RECOMMENDING THIS BOOK. After finishing my last read, I was in the mood for something really short and quick. This book was recommended by my lovely friend because she knows I love a good grovel. The grovel in this book was so sweet, it kinda reminded me of Luna and the Lie. Since this book was short, I didn’t expect the grovel to be satisfying, but IT WAS. And the reason for grovelling wasn’t something involving OW/OM or anything that pissed me off, the thing that happened was messed up but it could be fixed. I am so happy I read this, it was exactly what I needed.
Melissa works at her grandfather’s (we call him Pop) company and he’s a sexist human. He believes that Melissa needs to get married since she’s 28 and “every woman her age has a baby and husband by now.” Pop threatens to take Melissa’s job away if she doesn’t get married and Melissa wants to keep the job since it’s her family’s business. Melissa wants to piss Pop off so she decides to marry the one guy Pop despises, an arrogant asshole named Trevor.
This book was really short and sweet, I liked how simple it was. It took me a bit to get into the writing, sometimes Melissa says things where I’m like, “We get it, Melissa, we get it.” Trevor was sweet but nothing too memorable, honestly both characters weren’t that memorable. This isn’t a deep book, it has realistic sex scenes, consent, talking about safety, talking about bad breath in the morning, peeing after sex, wet spots on bed, we got all the real stuff going on. I appreciated that since we don’t see that realism in romance books, which isn’t bad since it is fiction, but it’s nice to see from time to time. The characters weren’t that interesting and to be honest, many may find this book boring, but I adored it. I feel like the first half was a little meh because I couldn’t feel the chemistry between the characters and couldn’t connect with them. But the second half was bloody amazing. I love Claire Kent and this is another pen name that she uses, and I noticed she likes to add realism with intimacy which I adore, I really loved Claire Kent’s books Last Light and Haven, both taking place in a post-apocalyptic universe. I highly recommend her books when you’re looking for something chill and drama free with sweet characters. I wouldn’t consider this book to be one of my favourites but it was good, not good enough to reread but perfect for right now.

This one was a read I got through pretty fast.
In the end it was just an OK story.
I had a hard time believing this couple. I didn't feel any chemistry between them and that only made their deal more believable that it was indeed only a deal. I don't think they would have ever hooked up if she didn't need someone to secure her place at her grandfathers company. Speaking of her grandfather, what a dick. I didn't like him one bit and my feelings never changed by the end of the book.
The only thing I liked about this book was the heroine. She was my kind of chick. Strong, independent, smart, and all about her family.
Trevor was just an OK character. He never completely grew on me.

5 sweet stars!!! I love the heroine and eventually the hero... In a world full of insta love between manwhores and virgins its refreshing to read a romantic book that has a proper story line... The fake marriage must be cliche but the build up of their relationship is relatable and very moving... I can't wait for the next book Hunter sounds like a trophy husband :)

I go to sleep wondering if there’s anything I can do to bridge the distance between us. It’s always made me feel safe, but I don’t want it anymore. I don’t want a part-time husband. I want him all the way.
This must be one of the weirdest marriage of convenience setups ever! Melissa, a 28-year-old woman, is forced into marriage by her asshole grandfather in order to keep her job at his company and to save the freedom of her lazy sisters. No idea why she doesn’t kick his balls and try to find a different job, but she goes out and proposes to Trevor, a marketing expert her grandfather hates with all his heart. They all met five years ago when Trevor applied for a job at Pops' company. He was the most competent candidate but terribly arrogant and smug, so he didn’t get the job. To this day, Pops' „mustache quivers“ when he thinks of Trevor, who is now developing ads for the competition. So proposing to him is Melissa’s revenge on Pops.
In exchange for a year of fake marriage, Melissa offers Trevor a regional advertising campaign for her grandfather’s company that will earn him „a very large amount of money“. The fake marriage has to include living together and sharing a bed. Trevor agrees without much hesitation and two days later they are married and she has moved in with Trevor.
The author doesn’t waste any time here and comes up with some stupid explanations why Melissa puts up with her grandfather's nonsense. For example the „sleeping in one bed“-thing. Asked by Trevor why they don’t just claim they do it instead of actually doing it (he always verbalized what I was thinking), she answers: "I’m not going to cheat." Sure. Your whole marriage is a lie, but you can't lie to him about sharing a bed. Makes sense. (NOT.) Of course, Trevor comes up with my thoughts again: „So you’re willing to marry a man you don’t like to get one over on Pop, but you’re not willing to cheat?”
However. The setup is weird, but all in all, the relationship evolves nicely, even though it’s seems a bit rushed. Unfortunately, theres is some back and forth later on, utter blindness/ignorance on the part of the main characters, and a very annoying third act breakup. The author also tends to be pretty repetitive – Pops’s quivering mustache is mentioned at least once in every scene with him, not to speak about Melissa referring to Trevor’s obnoxiousness (24 times), smugness (34 times), arrogance (15 times) and his eyebrow thing (33 times).
Another issue is: The author tells, but doesn’t show. Trevor doesn’t act smug or obnoxious (or only very rarely). He's totally nice, thoughtful and funny. He cares and stands up for his fake wife right from the beginning and I immediately loved him (especially when he spoke my thoughts, obviously). Melissa is okay, but Trevor is the one who carries the whole story—even though he doesn’t have a POV.
To sum it up: Trevor is a great MMC in an average book. But I will certainly try another book by this author. Sometime.

This was a quick, easy read. For some reason I wasn't fully connected to the main characters, I wanted something more from them.
I love a marriage of convenience trope and this is fiction, but the premise here was on pretty shaky ground lol it also bothered me that her grandpa who forced her to marry someone so quick to save her job figured there was something in it for the H and there 100% was a huge marketing deal where he'd work for the grandpa's company and they both told him there was no benefit for this guy to marry her but obviously he'd notice a huge deal going through right after they got married🧐 but he didn't...in general I just felt like the whole 'Pop' plot was really fucked up and I would've liked to see some redemption or closure there.
PS side note, wow, they drank a lot of water bottles at home lol they're wealthy enough to have filtered water and save the planet a little, just saying.

After reading Alex's review I knew I had to read this book. Right now my life is a chaos so I need to read something "normal". Something not over the top. Something just "something". This book was that. We saw something real, real struggles, real people, real fears. And I liked that a lot.
It starts with a pretend marriage. I know it was silly. Heroine Melissa's grandfather forces her to marry someone in exchange for her job. She worked really hard for that job and doesn't want it to go waste. So she decides to get married to someone her Pop would hate. She offers a deal to Trevor and since he wants the ad deal and pissing off Pop, he agrees. That way they start their marriage.
The heroine was strong, I liked that about her. But even though she wanted to keep her job the reason she accepted this was she wanted her sisters to be financially fine. Her Pop threatens her with cutting off of their money. That bugged me a lot about them. Of course, they didn't know about this but they are just people who live on their Pop's money. Just, yuck. The hero was someone lovable. Even though he made some mistakes it wasn't something deal breaker for me.
All in all I liked this book and would recommended to some who wants to read something sweet and low-key :)

I always enjoy Noelle Adams sexy contemporary romances and this is a great start to what looks to be a fun series! It’s told from Melissa’s point of view but we get a good idea of Trevor’s character from his actions and words. While Melissa had always thought him to be cocky and over-confident, the truth is that he’s had to work hard to get where he is and has done a good job of keeping his real emotions hidden. He regularly spends time with his parents on Saturdays though it’s not until a few months into their marriage that Melissa finds that out, and that he left a good job in New York to come back to Charleston to help support them when his father got injured. He’s not the arrogant guy she’d always assumed him to be.
Their love scenes are very sexy and cement the emotions that they are starting to feel though neither wants to admit that they might be falling for the other. Melissa spends time at a family dinner every weekend and Trevor comes with her, giving her support. Her grandfather is not pleased with her marriage to Trevor as he doesn’t like him which makes for some strained times for both of them. It also makes Melissa realize how unfairly she and her sisters have been treated by her grandfather and gives her the courage to stand up to him. While Melissa and Trevor have their ups and downs, and mistakes are made on both sides, they finally are able to admit what they want from each other and get a happy ending that is truly satisfying. I’m looking forward to reading more of this series, and watching Melissa’s sisters get their happy ever afters too!

I loved this! The story didn't drag and did not have non essential stuff added just to make the book long. Just like the heroine in this story, I don't like all the wordage! 😊 Who doesn't like a strong and independent heroine, right?

I loved this! The story didn't drag and did not have non essential stuff added just to make the book long. Just like the heroine in this story, I don't like all the wordage! 😊 Who doesn't like a strong and independent heroine, right?

This is the second Noelle Adams book which I have read and it was just what I wanted! A quick, safe, fun, sexy and emotional read.
The fake marriage/marriage of convenience plot, as always was ridiculous but I predictably liked it!
The characters were great! They felt real? We got to see a strong, independent, successful woman in Melissa, and she was really likeable. She had a great relationship with her sisters, and had friends, which is important to me. Trevor was a great character too-I won’t go into too much detail as it nice to find out about him throughout the book, but he really grew on me and he wasn’t a dick!
The grandfather was a bit one dimensional, and I would have liked to see more dialogue between Melissa and him at the end, to see his POV.
I liked that we got to see family in this book on both sides. Trevor was a good son and I loved that. Melissa was a great sister, and a hard worker in the family business. It can be really hard working for family, and this books showed some of the struggles.
The book dealt with loss and insecurity in a good way I think. You never get over the death of loved ones, you just learn to live with it, but certain things will remind you of them even years later and the pain will feel fresh.
I liked seeing ordinary things like characters reading, taking baths, eating together etc
I loved the top three things to do each day list-I kind of do that! I love my lists!
I didn’t like Melissa’s sisters living off their grandfather’s money!
